Tension as Eghbali seeks to buy Boehly out of Chelsea

Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have fallen out.

Bloomberg says tensions are so high that both Boehly and Eghbali’s ClearLake Capital have explored buying eachother out.

It’s suggested disagreements over transfer policy and the team’s performance has seen the two men at odds over Chelsea’s direction.

For Eghbali, there are no plans to sell-up, however, and instead he would be open to increasing his stake by buying out Boehly.

Clearlake owns more than 60 per cent of the club with Boehly, US businessman Mark Walter and Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss holding the remainder.

  • Boehly considers sacking Pochettino as Chelsea manager

Boehly considers sacking Pochettino as Chelsea manager

Chelsea are ready to move on from their head coach in the coming weeks or months.

The Blues are said to be drawing up a list of replacements for Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine has seen his stock drop a great deal after they lost the Carabao Cup final.

Per The Mail, co-owner Todd Boehly is ready to fire yet another manager in his time in charge of the club.

The Blues have sacked Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, and had Frank Lampard as an interim last term.

However, Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim is being seen as an alternative.

  • REVEALED: Chelsea owner, Boehly confronts Raheem Sterling

REVEALED: Chelsea owner, Boehly confronts Raheem Sterling

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is said to have confronted a senior player in the dressing room.

The American, whose spell in charge of the club has coincided with a sharp decline in their league position, is under heavy criticism from the fans.

Boehly has overseen a spending spree of more than $1 billion, which has not yielded any results.

Per The Telegraph, Boehly reportedly singled out winger Raheem Sterling after a 2-1 loss at home to Brighton last April.

The American reminded Sterling that he is a world-class player, mentioning his Premier League wins.

However, he added that Sterling was not performing up to standard and that he must improve.

Tuchel was sacked for no reason – Havertz fumes

Chelsea star Kai Havertz has criticised club owner for sacking German coach Thomas Tuchel this season.

Tuchel was dumped by Blues owner Todd Boehly and replaced by Graham Potter, who was also sacked last month.

Tuchel is now in charge of Bayern Munich and Havertz, quoted by the Daily Mail, stated: “Everything that could go wrong went wrong for us this year.

“The season started relatively calmly. We have changed ownership, which was a big change for the club.

“And then Thomas Tuchel was fired, which, of course, always matters in such a team. You succeed with a coach, and he gets fired for no reason.”

  • Jose Mourinho turns down Boehly’s approach

Jose Mourinho turns down Boehly’s approach

AS Roma coach Jose Mourinho has turned down an approach from Chelsea.

Mourinho was on Blues owner Todd Boehly’s shortlist of managerial candidates, says Il Corriere dello Sport, but rejected his interest.

It would’ve meant a third time in charge at Stamford Bridge for Mourinho. He still has a year to run on his Roma deal.

Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino is expected to be confirmed as new Chelsea manager.

He will take charge at the end of the season, replacing caretaker manager Frank Lampard.

  • REVEALED: Chelsea player upset being ‘singled out’ by Boehly in Brighton blast

REVEALED: Chelsea player upset being ‘singled out’ by Boehly in Brighton blast

One senior Chelsea player is upset being singled out by owner Todd Boehly in his post-match rant after defeat to Brighton.

Boehly addressed the players inside the home dressing room after Saturday’s 2-1 home loss.

The Guardian says Boehly ‘singled out’ one player for specific criticism.

It’s stated the player, who is now believed to be disillusioned and disgruntled, is ‘senior’ and ‘signed for a large fee in the past 12 months’.

It was also claimed the player in questioned appeared ‘disgruntled’ in open training yesterday ahead of tonight’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

Blues manager Frank Lampard said yesterday: “I am comfortable with that.

“I had my things to say after the game. There is maybe some criticism of our old owner of not coming to games and being around that wasn’t always true.

“I remember moments as a player of owners first coming into dressing rooms, I remember being happy. I don’t think it’s a bad thing.

“I had my things to say, if an owner wants to come in and be positive and speak to the players, they can do that.

“No problem with that, it shows passion and that’s the first thing that I like.”

  • I told Boehly the whole truth about Tuchel – Lukaku

I told Boehly the whole truth about Tuchel – Lukaku

Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku has admitted ‘discussing’ former manager Thomas Tuchel in talks with Chelsea owner Todd Boehly over the summer.

The Blues’ record £97.5million signing also confirmed he has no intention of ever returning to Stamford Bridge and wants to stay at Inter Milan.

Lukaku, 29, told Sky Italia: “Boehly decided to let me leave after I told him the whole truth about my relationship with Tuchel.

“It was a great chat – I told him my version of what happened.

“Then I had the opportunity to return to Inter and Boehly opened the door for me.”

A hamstring injury has limited Lukaku to just four Inter games – and only one goal and an assist – since returning to the San Siro on loan in the summer.

But the 104-cap Belgium ace is determined to stay in Italy before returning to his boyhood club Anderlecht.

He added: “Everyone knows what I want.

“I hope to stay at Inter. I love this club and we will speak to Chelsea in order to find a solution.

“Inter fans are really special, for me they are the best in the world.

“Because even if we are in difficulty they are always there to help the team.

“It was a surprise for me, I thought they were angry with me.

“But in the end they know I’ve always had Inter in my heart. Even if I left, they know I’ve always had Inter in my heart.

“I’ve had conversations with my team-mates, with people from the club and they know I’ve told the truth about why I left.

“Now I’m back and I hope to stay in the future. I mean that for me Inter is worth everything.

“The idea is to finish my career with Anderlecht. I’m nearly 30, my son started school here and plays in the Inter academy. I want to stay here and do things right.”

  • Boehly failed if Chelsea fail to make top 4 – Gallas

Boehly failed if Chelsea fail to make top 4 – Gallas

Former Chelsea defender William Gallas says failing to make the top four this season would be the fault of owner Todd Boehly.

In the first season of the post-Roman Abramovich era, Chelsea sit eighth and eight points off the Champions League places.

Gallas believes the finger must be pointed at Boehly should they not make the top four.

The former defender told Genting Casino: “If Chelsea don’t finish in the top four, Todd Boehly would have failed. There can be no excuses for a club like Chelsea finishing outside of the top four.

“We are always very quick to judge players on their performance and it should be the same for the owner. He arrived and spent a lot of money, but if he doesn’t qualify for the top four he would have failed.”

  • Boehly questioned Cucurella and his agents about Chelsea coach

Boehly questioned Cucurella and his agents about Chelsea coach

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly was scouting new manager Graham Potter for weeks before the transfer window closed.

Boehly asked Marc Cucurella and his agents about Potter when the left-back signed for Chelsea from Brighton, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The American billionaire spoke with Cucurella and his reps about Potter’s personality, tactics, man-management, and other matters.

It appears the Chelsea co-owner took an instant disliking to Thomas Tuchel, who has now lost his job in favour of Potter.

However, Chelsea did sign players who Tuchel wanted in the summer, only to sack him within weeks of the new season getting underway.

Potter may have to wait until October to get his first taste of the Premier League with the Blues, as their match against Liverpool scheduled for this weekend is postponed.

  • I don’t know if Todd Boehly sleeps – Tuchel

I don’t know if Todd Boehly sleeps – Tuchel

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has hailed the work ethic of new owner Todd Boehly and his team.

Boehly has just overseen the signing of Brighton fullback Marc Cucurella today.

Tuchel said: “I would describe him as super hard-working and learning on the job.

“Going into the transfer market as new owners is one of the toughest things you can do. I have nothing but the biggest respect for them. I don’t know when they sleep, maybe they never sleep.

“But we have a very open, honest and direct line of communication and the transfers we’ve done speak for themselves.”
