Mary Njoku, Ninalowo berate AGN president for saying ‘BBNaija evictees unfit for Nollywood’

Mary Njoku and Bolanle Ninalowo have slammed Emeka Rollas, president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), for saying Nollywood is not a dumping ground for BBNaija evictees.

TheNewsGuru recalls that on Sunday, the AGN president had in an Instagram post shared his thoughts on the latest trend of filmmakers using former BBNaija housemates in movies as some form of marketing strategy.

His post had come after the eviction of Boma, Tega, Michael, and Peace from the reality show.

“Nollywood! Not a dumping ground for evictees!!! Case closed,” he had written.

However Rollas’s remark has continued to spark controversy among actors.

In his reaction, Ninalowo disagreed with the opinion of the AGN president in a post via his Instagram page, saying “you’re wrong.”

“This one hit me hard! Oga @emekarollas, you’re wrong for this one, baba!!! Abeg, who is Nollywood for? Maka needs to be enlightened,” he wrote in the now-deleted post.

In the same vein, Njoku said Nollywood is Nigeria’s number one rehabilitation centre, adding that the industry “is home to all.”

“Nollywood is Nigeria’s number one rehabilitation centre. She’s indeed a dumping for all society rejects. An employer of unemployable. A shelter to all who have lost their ways. A mother to the confused and misunderstood. She doesn’t judge,” she wrote.

“She doesn’t care about your past. She doesn’t care about what the world thinks of you. She doesn’t discriminate. She holds you till find your feet in the society.

“Anyone can make it in Nollywood. She gives a clean slate to anyone who wants a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th chance. She never stops giving.

“Majority of us were unemployable in the society when we joined Nollywood. No degree. No certificates.

“If not for Nollywood so many people would have committed suicide because of stigmatisation and discrimination. Nollywood is home to All.

“She is life to anyone who wants to live. Remember that.”

“I am blessed and don’t forget that it’s a privilege to have what I have. Our love story is not that of a rich man that met a beautiful girl. We have been together for 16 years and have come a long way. We have been through so much. I had always imagined being successful in the entertainment industry and having a beautiful wife by my side.

“She is quite an introvert. We are practically two opposite people that complement one another well. Before I became a celebrity, I used to show off my wife. She looks like my mother and I had always prayed to marry a woman that looks like her. I admire my wife and I’m obsessed with her. I have messed up so much in the past and I figured I could rewrite my own story. I am fortunate to have got a second chance, so I am just living my dreams. I am not living to impress anybody.”

The Bible saved me when I was frustrated-Bolanle Ninalowo

Popular Nollywood actor, Bolanle Ninalowo, has opened up on why and how he converted from Islam to Christianity.

Ninalowo who has played diverse roles made this known in a recent instagram live chat.

“Although I have only gone to church once in my entire life, I read the bible a lot. My name is Azeez; I was born into a staunch Muslim family. When I was troubled and frustrated, it was the bible that saved me, as my parents and family members couldn’t. So, I picked up the bible and it became my life manual.”

Reacting to the rate at which Nollywood veterans go suddenly sick and broke, Ninalowo says the actors are to blame and not the government or lack of structure in the industry. “The blame should not be on Nollywood because it doesn’t have structure, it should be on the individual. You are not a victim of circumstances; you are a victim of the choices you made. A lot of them are carried away. They don’t have retirement plans.”

“This is how far they go now to scam people. A fake passport in my name and picture (no surprise). A real/fake FirstBank ATM card (not sure because I don’t even know how possible it is to obtain one without a BVN number or did they generate one at the bank?),” he queried.

I don’t pay my tithes in the church- Bolanle Ninalowo

I don’t pay my tithes in the church- Bolanle NinalowoNollywood actor, Bolanle Ninalowo has no doubt experienced a steady rise in his career ever since he joined the movie industry.

The role interpreter who recently reunited with his wife noted that he has never been in a church and doesn’t believe in paying tithes to a church.

Hear him: “When I was going through dark times, I started reading my Bible and began to understand better how life works. Don’t forget that I was born a Muslim. I have never actually been to church to worship but I renew my covenant with God in my room. It has worked for me over the years, though I realise I may have to go to church at some point. However, I would feel more blessed worshipping with my wife because without her, things wouldn’t be complete”, he told Punch.

Speaking further, the Picture Perfect actor maintained that spirituality is a thing of the heart and not necessarily about being religious.

“A lot of people out there are just religious but they don’t have the love of their creator in their hearts,” explained the actor. “If you love God, it will be exhibited in how you act, not by what you say. You can go to church or mosque every day but if you don’t love God and your fellow man, you are just deceiving yourself. I have an intimate relationship with my maker and that’s what counts. I communicate with Him regularly and He guides me accordingly. I pay tithes every day. Not by going to church and giving someone my money but by touching lives in whatever way I can.”

Nino B, whose career has been on a steady rise, insisted that nothing had changed about him. “I am happy for where God has taken me but I can tell you for free that it wasn’t a bed of roses. When I first moved back to Nigeria from the United States, a lot of people felt I was losing my mind. I invested millions of naira in my record label, yet I didn’t make a dime. It was quite depressing but I chose to remain focused, believing that ultimately, things would get better.

“I have been getting a lot of rave reviews but I don’t let such things get to my head. I am grateful for where my career is right now, but I have bigger dreams and I am focused on where I am going. I want to thank all my fans because they are the ones who have got me to this point. I implore them to keep supporting me and we would do a lot of great things together,” he said.

@Patcyn12 wrote:” Nollywood must improve on their games to make romantic scenes look more Authentic. Kissing, intimacy and other ingredients that goes with it should look real to the viewers. That is the reason we have Stunt actors in movies, if an actor cant make a scene look real, a stunt could be called upon. Nigeria film makers should look into that DIRECTION. That is why Hollywood is number one. Nollywood have to step up especially in the Romance department. Use Stunts. @_kehindebankole
