Man Utd chiefs set fee cap to sign Jadon Sancho

Manchester United have set their price cap to sign Borussia Dortmund attacker Jadon Sancho.

The Daily Star says United are willing to spend £80million on Sancho to end the transfer saga once and for all.

The problem is, though, that that is still way short of the German giants’ asking price.

Dortmund want £108m to let the England international depart the Westfalenstadion and are under no financial pressure to sell, despite landing Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland so far this year.

United have looked at alternatives to Sancho as a result, with the club adamant they won’t be shattering any transfer records while the coronavirus crisis remains ongoing.

United tried to sign Sancho in the summer transfer window of 2017, only for the forward to end up moving to Borussia Dortmund instead.

And they also attempted to land him 12 months ago only for their failure to secure Champions League qualification to count against them.

Man Utd make progress on Jadon Sancho deal

Manchester United believe they have made progress in their negotiations to try and sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, according to Goal.

The England international remains a priority target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the club have continued with discussions to sign the former Manchester City man despite the German club’s sporting director Michael Zorc insisting he won’t be moving anywhere.

Though Dortmund continue to remain adamant they won’t sell, United still believe a deal isn’t completely dead after ongoing constructive discussions with an intermediary.

Dortmund were believed to be holding out for a €120 million (£108m/$142m) fee for the 20-year-old, who has emerged as one of Europe’s top attackers.

United are keen not to repeat any mistake they made with Alexis Sanchez when his huge wages upset the team’s structure and have been wary of that issue during talks.

It is understood there has been some progress made with Sancho’s agent in terms of wages and fees.

Man Utd, Dortmund find peace agreement over Sancho talks

Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund have agreed to resume talks for Jadon Sancho in a more respectful manner.

The Bleacher Report says Dortmund have come to an agreement with United over negotiations for Sancho.

The two clubs have agreed to adopt a ‘respectful manner’ in talks after months of speculation over the 20-year-old’s future.

The report goes on to state that United were aggrieved by the level of detail being leaked to the public during initial stages of discussions.

While no deal for Sancho has been agreed as of yet, it is understood that the Premier League club could be reaching a more feasible stage of negotiations.

Sancho makes final decision on Man Utd move

In-demand winger Jadon Sancho says he is happy at Borussia Dortmund and is enjoying helping some of the younger players develop at the Bundesliga club.

Sancho has been linked with a move to a host of top clubs including Manchester United, but Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc says the England international is going nowhere.

The 20-year-old left with his team for a pre-season training camp in Switzerland this week and on Wednesday played the first 45 minutes of Dortmund’s 6-0 victory over Austrian side SCR Altach.

“I love playing with this lot. It’s a special bunch. We’ve got some special young players coming up,” said Sancho, who scored 17 league goals and set up another 16 last season

“I’m really happy to share the pitch with them and guide them.

“I joined when I was 17, some of the lads are the same age. I’ve been there and done that. I can guide them in what’s good and what isn’t. I can hopefully motivate them as well.”

Solskjaer responds to Jadon Sancho transfer talk

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer refused to talk about rumoured transfer target Jadon Sancho after the Red Devils advanced to the Europa League semi-finals.

United booked their spot in the final four of Europe’s secondary club competition after edging Danish opponents Copenhagen 1-0 in extra time on Monday.

But attention turned to Borussia Dortmund star Sancho post-match amid ongoing speculation over the England international’s future.

Asked about Sancho, Solskjaer replied: “I can’t comment on other team’s players, I can’t do that. You know that. I never do.”

On the match itself in Cologne, Solskjaer said: “I am delighted that we’re through. I think we deserved to win tonight. It could have been one of those nights that you ended up with a penalty shootout. They made it hard for us.

“It’s a good team we played against, well organised. They had a gameplan – we knew they were going to be hard to break down. We knew we would get chances.”

Dortmund’s Sancho off to pre-season camp amid transfer speculation

Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho left with his team for a pre-season training camp in Switzerland on Monday amid ongoing speculation of a possible transfer to the English Premier League (EPL).

The 20-year-old England international, who has a contract with the German club until 2022, had a stellar season with the Bundesliga runners-ups.

He has been reportedly targeted by several top clubs, including Manchester United.

Sancho scored 17 league goals and set up another 16, with Borussia Dortmund saying they would only let him go if their price expectations were met fully.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Sancho but media reports say the club may have balked at Borussia Dortmund’s valuation of around 120 million euros (141.24 million dollars).

That will make him the Bundesliga’s most expensive transfer ever and would see the German top division lose arguably its most exciting young player.

On Monday, however, Sancho flew with his team to Switzerland for the start of their pre-season training.

Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus and defender Marcel Schmelzer stayed behind to recover from injuries.

It is unclear when Reus, who has been sidelined for months with a groin injury, will be able to return to training.

The Bundesliga season starts on Sept. 18.

  • ‘Sancho will prove worth in £100m Man Utd deal’

‘Sancho will prove worth in £100m Man Utd deal’

Jadon Sancho will be “worth it” for Manchester United even if they have to invest “over £100 million ($131m)” in the Borussia Dortmund winger, says Dimitar Berbatov.

The Red Devils continue to explore the option of bringing the England international back to his homeland in the summer transfer window.

Little progress has been made in discussions to this point, with Dortmund making it clear that they will not be parting with a prized asset for anything less than his full market value.

United had been hoping to bring costs down, with the coronavirus pandemic hitting even big-spending clubs down, but Bundesliga giants are prepared to stand their ground.

Berbatov believes those at Old Trafford should now be paying whatever it takes to get a deal over the line.

For him, Sancho would be a useful addition to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad, with there every reason to believe that an immediate return would be offered on United’s investment even if they are forced to dig deep.

“Jadon Sancho would be an amazing signing for any team, United included,” former Red Devils striker Berbatov told Betfair.

“It becomes a luxury problem to have so many attacking options, but it brings hard decisions. Someone has to be benched, and Ole will have to deliver that news to someone.

“Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are well established in world football, and [Mason] Greenwood now deserves his chance to continue his progression, and I don’t want to see him stalled.

“We know United can afford to pay for Sancho, and if it happens, the club will be happy, but it will also be tricky. Over £100m is a lot of money, especially now in the current situation, but I’m sure he will be worth it.

  • Man Utd prepared to walk away from Sancho deal

Man Utd prepared to walk away from Sancho deal

Manchester United are prepared to walk away from signing Jadon Sancho.

Borussia Dortmund want £100m for the England international but United are not willing to go anywhere near that fee.

There has been talk that Sancho has agreed personal terms with United, but those reports are believed to be wide of the mark as negotiations are still ongoing.

And now multiple outlets in the UK are reporting United will start looking at alternatives if Dortmund don’t come to the table.

It is believed United would be willing to offer £70m up front and then make up the rest with add-ons.

However, Dortmund are holding firm on their demands and are happy to keep Sancho for another season.

Negotiations have reached an impasse and United may now think it is time to look at cheaper alternatives.

  • Man Utd, Dortmund agree Jadon Sancho fee

Man Utd, Dortmund agree Jadon Sancho fee

Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement over a fee for Jadon Sancho, it has been revealed.

The Independent says United and Dortmund appeared to be at a stalemate regarding the valuation of the 20-year-old, though an initial fee has now been struck.

Dortmund are said to now be happy to take an initial £60m payment for the player, with a string of added on clauses which could eventually sky-rocket the deal.

The Bundesliga giants appeared resolute in demanding £100m for the youngster, but the new deal is said to better suit United while appeasing both parties.

Talks are still ‘between intermediaries’ and have not yet reached the official stage of formal negotiations.

Sancho cost Dortmund just £7m from Manchester City in 2017, after he decided to leave English football in search of regular first team opportunities.

  • Dortmund give Man Utd deadline to complete Sancho deal

Dortmund give Man Utd deadline to complete Sancho deal

Borussia Dortmund have told Manchester United they have less than two weeks to close a deal for Jadon Sancho.

The 20-year-old is due back in Dortmund on Thursday for the start of their pre-season training before the Bundesliga kicks off again in mid-September.

Dortmund want any deal for the England international done by August 10 when they leave for a pre-season training camp in Switzerland, even though the transfer window will stay open until October 5, says the Daily Mail.

But United will refuse to meet Dortmund’s current £110million valuation of the player despite preparing a move for the England international.

Sancho remains United’s No 1 priority in the transfer window, but the Old Trafford side are yet to make a formal offer, with sources stating that reports in Germany of an opening bid of £89m being rejected are wide of the mark.
