    Nigerians react as Bovi rocks #EndSARS shirt to The Headies 2021

    Comedian and actor, Bovi astonished fans after he appeared at The Headies 2021 with a blood-stained #EndSARS themed outfit.

     

    The funnyman, who co-hosted the award event alongside Nollywood’s Nancy Isime, wore a shirt portraying a blood-stained Nigerian flag symbolizing the shootings that played out during the #EndSARS protest at Lekki tollgate last year.

    The Headies 2021 aired from the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

    It witnessed the presence of popular singers who won the high-status awards in various categories.

    Among those honoured at the award event are Burna Boy, Niniola, Fireboy, DJ Neptune, Praiz, Wizkid, Omah Lay

    The comedian’s outfit has since attracted praises from Nigerians on Twitter.

    Abovi Ugboma, Nigerian comedian and actor better known as Bovi, has opened on how he begged for a role in the remake of ‘Nneka the Pretty Serpent’, a 1994 Nollywood classic.

    The multi-talented entertainer will play the role of a policeman (Inspector Daniel) in the movie billed to hit cinemas as from December 18, 2020.

    The anticipated sequel was directed by Tosin Igho, produced by Chris Odeh, with Ramsey Nouah and Charles Okpaleke as the co-producers.

    Speaking in an Instagram live chat, the comedian said he had to beg due to his interest in the project.

    “I play the role of Inspector Daniel, I’m a cop, a policeman and a serious one at that. When l heard about the remake of Nneka The Pretty Serpent, l put a call across to them (producers) that l want to be in the movie,” he said.

    “Usually l don’t beg, but l had to that for this one. So, they gave me the script and after reading it, they asked me what role l can handle.”

    The forthcoming movie follows the story of Nneka, a mermaid disguised as a human, whose mission on earth is to destroy promiscuous married men.

    Popular radio presenter and broadcaster, Dan Foster is dead.

    TheNewsGuru gathered that the revered broadcaster died on Wednesday at a Lagos medical facility, where he was receiving treatment for an illness.

    Celebrities and media personalities have been penning emotional tributes on social media about the deceased.

    Among them is gospel artiste and broadcaster, Bouqui.

    She said:” Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?2020, abeg which way now? #rip Dan Foster”.

     

    Former host of the popular TV show, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Frank Edoho said a friend confirmed the sad news to him.

    “I just got off the phone, my friend Oscar confirmed that Dan Foster has passed on. This is a very very dark year. How can I overcome this unending melancholy? Rest in Peace, dear friend,” Edoho tweeted.

     

    Titi Oyinsan, another broadcaster wrote on Instagram:”You still had so much to give Big Dawg.

    You revolutionized Radio in Nigeria and we will never forget you”.

     

    Comedian, Bovi, said, “When I moved to Lagos in November 2003, Dan Foster was one of the reasons I didn’t run back home to Delta State. I tuned into Cool Fm one morning and Dan made me love radio. Rip Big Dawg! I’m sad you left. But I’m happy your mark remains forever!”

    Media entrepreneur, Ben Murray Bruce said:”The death of Dan Foster saddens me. He was an excellent friend of mine and a veteran radio host bar none. May his soul rest in peace”.

    Popular comedian and actor, Abovi Ugboma, popularly known as Bovi, has denied claims that he was at the United States Embassy in Lagos when the Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop Oyedepo, was allegedly denied a US visa.
    It was widely reported on Friday that Bovi was lucky with the embassy as he was issued the visa, while his wife was not lucky as she was denied.

     

    In his reaction, Bovi said he was not at the US Embassy, adding that the story is false.

     

    He wrote on Twitter: “I was not at the embassy. Neither was my wife. Story about us is entirely false. And the use of the word ‘luck’ or ‘lucky’ with getting a visa is annoying.”

     

     

     

    TheNewsGuru recalls that the United States embassy in Nigeria had described the report that Bishop Oyedepo was denied a visa, as “false.”

     

    The embassy took to its verified Twitter page to state that the report is “completely false.”

    Failed visa application: Bovi slams Twitter influencer

    Nigerian comic and actor, Bovi has fired back at popular social media influencer, Tweetoracle for not comprehending a joke he shared about titans being responsible for his failed visa application.

    It all began after Bovi was asked what he would do if he wakes up as the President of Nigeria and he joked that he would “declare Marlians and Titans as terrorist organization.”

    Marlians are fans of Naira Marley, while Titans are fans of Big Brother Naija reality TV star, Tacha.

    After Bovi’s joke on Instagram, he returned to Twitter to make another joke about his visa application being rejected and he blamed Titans for it.

     

    He tweeted: “The US embassy rejected my visa application this morning. These Titans are everywhere!”

     

    A Twitter influencer, who is also a fan of Tacha, reacted asking Bovi what Titans have got to do with his unsuccessful visa application. He went on to accuse Bovi of seeking attention with Tacha’s name.

     

    However, Bovi fired back at him, saying he has tunnel vision.

    The renowned entertainer shared the video on Instagram on Thursday.

    In the video clip, Kris calls a friend, Mohammed, and asks if Bovi is with him despite Bovi being with her. Mohammed tells Kris he is moving towards Bovi and the prank lingers.

    Popular media personality and vlogger, Toke Makinwa is not happy at the moment. The outspoken on-air-personality has slammed Bovi for making a joke out of her cosmetic surgery bum during his comedy show held in Lagos last Sunday.

    According to him:”When @cecilhammond told me @aliko_dangotegcon was coming to the show, I thought he was trying to be funny. I reminded him that he’s executive producer of the show, not Bovi. Well, what better way to start the show than with a juggernaut coming backstage to wish me good luck before I go on stage?” he wrote.

  • Bovi, Seyi Shay to host Headies 12th edition

    Organisers of The Headies Awards, Smooth Productions have unveiled the hosts for this year’s edition of the prestigious award ceremony.

    Ace comedian , Bovi and songstress, Seyi Shay are the hosts for the 12th edition.

    Recall that Bovi hosted the 2014 edition alongside Toke Makinwa . The revered music event will hold 5th of May at the Eko Convention Centre.

    In 2008, Basketmouth and Dakore hosted the first edition, while Banky W and Kemi Adetiba were the hosts in 2009.

    2011 saw Eldee and Rita Dominic host the awards ceremony.Omawunmi and M.I hosted the event in 2012. For the 2013, edition, Tiwa Savage and Dr Sid were the hosts. While Basketmouth and Toke Makinwa hosted the show in 2014.
