  • Football legend Ronaldinho to marry his two girlfriends at the same time

Brazilian football legend, Ronaldinho is set to marry two women at the same time, The Mirror reports.

FIFA World Cup winner, Ronaldinho will tie the knot in August with his pair of “fiancees”, Priscilla Coelho and Beatriz Souza.

Ronaldinho asked both their hands in marriage in January last year and gave both engagement rings, Brazilian columnist Leo Dias said.

The 38-year-old started dating Beatriz in 2016, but continued his relationship with Priscilla, which began several years earlier.

Both lovers reportedly receive an “allowance” of around £1,500 from the footballer to spend as they wish.

He will marry the two women at a private ceremony inside the Santa Monica condominium, in the upmarket Barra da Tijuca district in Rio, where he has lived since 2015, according to the columnist, from Brazil’s O Dia newspaper.

The star’s sister, Deisi, who is against her brother’s polygamy, has already said she won’t be attending, according to Dias.

Brazilian singer, Jorge Vercillo, who is Ronaldinho’s neighbour, has reportedly been confirmed to be responsible for the wedding music and one of many celebrity friends who will be attending the nuptials.

Both Priscilla and Beatriz are from Belo Horizonte, the city where the footballer played with Atletico Mineiro, leading the club to its first Copa Libertadores title in 2012.

  • BREAKING: Brazil full-back Dani Alves ruled out of World Cup

Brazil have been dealt a further injury blow ahead of the World Cup following news that defender Dani Alves will miss the tournament in Russia.

The Paris Saint-Germain full-back limped out of Tuesday’s Coupe de France final with a knee injury.

]Original assessments suggested that though the injury would end Alves domestic season he would be ready for the World Cup.

“Following Daniel Alves right knee injury, which occurred yesterday during the French Cup final, the tests performed today showed a high detachment of the anterior cruciate ligament with posterolateral sprain,” a spokesperson for the player said on Wednesday.

It can be confirmed now that following further tests by the Brazil national team’s doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, it has been determined that the former Barcelona star will not recover in time to represent the Selecao this summer.

Alves has been a key figure for Brazil for over a decade and was set to start for Tite’s side as they looked to secure a sixth world title.

He becomes the second Brazil defender to suffer an serious injury in the build-up to the tournament, with Filipe Luis suffering a broken leg while playing for Atletico Madrid back in March.

Tite is likely to be able to call on Neymar, however, with the PSG forward having returned to France in recent weeks as he steps up his recovery from a broken foot.

  • Brazil: First lady jumps into lake to rescue her pet

Brazil: First lady jumps into lake to rescue her pet

Brazil’s first lady, Marcela Temer, leapt fully clothed into a lake at the presidential palace to rescue her pet dog.

However, she got roasted on social media.

The 34-year-old former beauty queen jumped into the lake after her Jack Russell, named Picoly, went after some ducks but struggled to get back out.

Although the drama occurred on April 22, it only became public this week.

Brazilian media and Twitter wits mocked the first lady’s heroics, making the incident a top trending topic late Monday.

Given that her husband, Michel Temer, is the most unpopular president on record in Brazilian history, leftist blogger Leonardo Stoppa joked that Marcela’s aim was not to save the dog but the duck.

“She despaired, because she saw one of Temer’s few voters,” he said in a YouTube broadcast.

Michel Temer, who is more than four decades older than his wife and embroiled in multiple corruption investigations, took another hit from blogger Jose Simao, who tweeted: “Marcela’s dog tried to commit suicide! It couldn’t put up with Temer!”

Referencing comparisons between Temer and vampires — a jibe that took centre stage at this year’s Rio carnival — one tweeter said he wasn’t surprised Marcela cared so much about animals.

“It’s obvious,” he wrote. “Because she married a BAT.”

  • Brazilian court orders Facebook to remove offensive posts on Franco

Brazilian court orders Facebook to remove offensive posts on Franco

A Brazilian court on Wednesday ordered Facebook to remove “false information’’ related to slain politician Marielle Franco within 24 hours.

Facebook must “use all the available instruments to prevent the publication of new offensive posts’’ on Franco, the court statement quoted judge, Jorge Novelle, as saying.

Franco’s sister and her partner had lodged a complaint against Facebook for spreading false and slanderous information about the popular councillor and human rights activist, who was shot dead in Rio de Janeiro on March 14.

Posts on Facebook had claimed that Franco, who comes from one of Rio’s poorest neighbourhoods, had links with “bandits’’ and drug traffickers.

Before her death, Franco criticised a recent government decision to make the army responsible for security in crime-ridden Rio de Janeiro state.

Her killing brought hundreds of thousands of protesters to the streets.

“It is not to be tolerated that the death of Marielle, martyr of contemporary history in Brazil, should be repeated day by day’’ by spreading “slander against the dead, hatred, racial and gender prejudice and abuse’’ on social media, Novelle said.

The court did not say how it would penalise Facebook if the social media company did not comply with the order.

Facebook is also involved in a data privacy scandal.

The killing of Franco is seen as part of a mounting wave of political violence in Brazil, where former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s campaign buses were fired on late Tuesday.

Lula was on neither of the two buses travelling in southern Parana state, and there were no injuries.

President Michel Temer said that “this wave of violence’’ could not continue and that it was necessary to “pacify the country.’’

Lula, a former trade unionist, who held the presidency from 2003 to 2011, is campaigning for the Oct. 7 presidential elections in spite a corruption conviction that could soon land him in jail.

  • PSG forward, Neymar to have surgery on injured foot

Paris St-Germain forward Neymar will have surgery after suffering a fractured metatarsal and sprained ankle in Sunday’s Ligue 1 win over Marseille.

It means the 26-year-old Brazilian will miss Tuesday’s Champions League last-16 second-leg tie against Real Madrid.

PSG coach Unai Emery initially said Neymar had a “small chance” of facing Real, before Neymar’s father said he would be out for “six to eight weeks”.

The club said Neymar will be operated on in Brazil at the end of the week.

PSG added that after “three days of planned care” it was a joint decision by the club’s medical staff and the Brazilian national team to opt for surgery.

The striker joined PSG for a world record £200m fee from Barcelona last August and has scored 29 goals in 30 games.

PSG are 14 points clear of second-placed Monaco in the league and on 6 March will host Champions League holders Real Madrid, trailing 3-1 from the first leg.

  • Former Brazil, and AC Milan midfielder Kaka, announces retirement

Former AC Milan and Real Madrid midfielder Kaka, a 2002 World Cup winner with Brazil, has retired. The 35-year-old, who began his career in Brazil with Sao Paulo, was most recently with MLS club Orlando City.

Kaka played his final match as Orlando’s season ended in October, and in November was reportedly offered a director role at Serie A club Milan.

He is one of only eight players to win the treble of World Cup, European Cup/Champions League and Ballon d’Or.

A devout Christian, Kaka wrote in a Twitter post on Sunday: “Father, it was much more than I could ever [have] imagined. Thank you! I’m now ready for the next journey. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Renowned for his strong mazy dribbles, his finishing and his creativity in providing goalscoring opportunities for others, Kaka played 92 times for Brazil, scoring 29 times.

Having lifted the World Cup with his country, he won the Champions League with Milan in 2007 and the Ballon d’Or, awarded to the world’s best player, in the same year.

He was arguably at his prime during the six years he spent with the Italian giants between 2003 and 2009, during which time he also won the Serie A title in 2004 and the Club World Cup in 2007.

After joining Madrid in a then-world record £56m deal in June 2009, Kaka won the Copa del Rey in 2011, adding the league title a year later.

Having struggled with a series of knee injuries, Kaka returned to Milan for one season in 2013 before leaving for Orlando the following year.

The other seven players to have won the World Cup, European Cup or Champions League and Ballon d’Or are: Bobby Charlton, Gerd Muller, Franz Beckenbauer, Paolo Rossi, Zinedine Zidane, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho.

  • Chapecoense sign first players on loan

Chapecoense announced their first signings since the plane crash that resulted in the death of a majority of their squad.

Atletico Mineiro have loaned attacking midfielder Dodo to their fellow Brazilian side for a year with absolutely no cost for the agreement. Atletico and Chapecoense will split Dodo’s wages for the year.

Dodo, who represented Figueirense last season on loan, was apparently a target for Chapecoense before the accident that killed 19 of their players.

Atletico director, Lasaro Candido da Cunha, wrote on Twitter: ‘A few days before the accident, Chape asked Atletico if they could borrow Dodo……. ethics and solidarity can not be left alone in the speeches.’

Candido’s tweet came after Vagner Mancini, who was appointed Chapecoense manager after the accident, questioned the quality of players being offered on loan by some Brazilian sides.

Chapecoense have also signed 21-year-old goalkeeper Elias from Juventude and Douglas Grolli from Cruzeiro.

The division had agreed to lend players to Chapecoense as they attempt to rebuild their side.

A delegation of players and officials were involved in a plane crash in November as they headed to the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana in Medellin, Colombia.

Recall that the crash claimed the lives of 19 Chapecoense players and 52 other people, including officials, coaches and journalists.
