Top 3 Well-known German Bundesliga Footballers

Bundesliga is the main football championship in Germany. Even people out of this country bet on Germany Bundesliga predictions. If you also want to get engaged in this championship, you should learn more about the most popular footballers there.

    Gerd Müller, 365 goals

Gerd Müller was born in 1945 in Nördlingen. Since childhood, the boy loved football and devoted all his free time to it.

Müller began his career in the TSV 1861 team. In the season 1963/64, this team played in one of the regional leagues. The 18-year-old forward was the leader of the team and scored 51 goals in 31 matches.

In 1964, Mueller signed a contract with Bavaria. During the season, he scored 33 goals in 26 matches and helped the team to enter the Bundesliga.

Muller was the leader of Bavaria, which gradually became the strongest club in the country. He spent most of his career with this team. With Bavaria, Muller became the champion of Germany four times and the best scorer of the championship seven times.

    Klaus Fischer, 268 goals

Fischer was born in 1949 in Kreuzstrasse. At one of the youth tournaments, Fischer noticed the TSV 1860 Munich club, and he signed up for the first professional contract.

Fischer began his career in the championship of Germany as a member of the TSV 1860 Munich. In 26 games, the player scored 9 goals. In the following season, Fischer improved his performance, scoring 19 goals. Yet, Fischer did not stay in the club and moved to FC Schalke 04.

In the Schalke 04 club, Fischer spent most of his career. He played for this team from 1969 to 1981. During this time he scored 182 goals in 295 matches of the championship. This is the best result in the history of the club.

    Robert Lewandowski, 229 goals

Robert Lewandowski was born in Warsaw in 1988. At 17, Robert started playing adult football in the second most important Polish league. Lewandowski played in the lower leagues. In 2008, he signed a contract with Lech Poznań and made his Polish league debut.

In 2010, Robert moved to Borussia Dortmund and became the leader of the club. Lewandowski spent four seasons in this team and helped it to win the Bundesliga twice. Lewandowski scored 74 goals in 131 matches of the championship in this club.

In 2014, Robert Lewandowski moved to Bavaria. In this composition, he won the Bundesliga five more times. Lewandowski became the best scorer of the championship three times.

  • Bundesliga: Rampant Bayern attack faces stingy Dortmund defence in “Klassiker”

Bundesliga: Rampant Bayern attack faces stingy Dortmund defence in “Klassiker”

If there is one team that can stop Bayern Munich’s rampant attack, it would appear to be arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund.

The two sides, who are level at the top of the Bundesliga with five wins and one defeat each from six games, meet in a German “Klassiker” on Saturday.

It is a match which pits the league’s best attack against its tightest defence.

While titleholders Bayern Munich have blasted 24 goals in six games, last season’s runners-up Borussia Dortmund have conceded only two, both in a 2-0 defeat at Augsburg.

But they have kept clean sheets in their other five matches.

Borussia Dortmund, hosts on Saturday, have played 374 minutes in all competitions since conceding their last goal in the 3-1 UEFA Champions League defeat to Lazio.

Coach Lucien Favre has reverted to his preferred four-man defence this season, having switched to a three-man back line halfway through the last campaign due to what he described as a “few problems.”

“We feel very comfortable with the new system,” said defender Manuel Akanji after their 3-0 win at Club Brugge on Wednesday.

“Sometimes you need a small change and I think the return to the four-man defence has helped.”

Borussia Dortmund are hoping that Akanji’s regular partner at the centre of defence, Mats Hummels, will be fit after missing the Brugge match.

Bayern, 6-2 winners at Salzburg on Tuesday, are on a remarkable run.

They have won 27 out of their 28 matches in all competitions since football restarted in May following the coronavirus stoppage.

Former Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski has led the way and has scored 10 league goals already this season, at an average of one every 37 minutes.

Bayern Munich did the double over Borussia Dortmund last season as they won the title by 13 points and also beat their rivals 3-2 in the Super Cup in December.

Even so, the club lived up to their reputation for off-field drama this week.

This was after president Herbert Hainer said in a radio interview that they had withdrawn their offer to long-serving David Alaba over a contract extension.

The Austrian said he was disappointed that details had come out into the open while his team mates and coach Hansi Flick both backed him.

“It’s important to me that we have calm in the team and our surroundings,” said Flick. “We have a very, very important game against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday and I’m not interested in anything else. I won’t say anything more about it.”

  • Leipzig eye club record against Augsburg, Bayern to rotate

Leipzig eye club record against Augsburg, Bayern to rotate

RB Leipzig FC will look to stretch their unbeaten run on the road to a club record nine matches when they take on Augsburg on Saturday, with Julian Nagelsmann’s team an early dark horse in the Bundesliga title race of what will be a very busy season.

With quintuple winners Bayer Munich and Borussia Dortmund having already slipped up early, the pandemic-adjusted calendar will favour consistency more than in previous years.

Surprise Champions League semi-finalists in August, Leipzig have so far hardly missed a beat since the departure of top striker Timo Werner to Chelsea and top the standings on seven points.

With eight goals coming from seven different players in their first three Bundesliga games, Leipzig seem to have a plethora of options up front led by Denmark’s Yussuf Poulsen.

Nagelsmann will not have a lot of time to prepare with close to 10 players returning gradually this week from national team duties. Marcel Sabitzer is also still doubtful after training alone following muscle problems.

But the coach could also have Ibrahima Konate back in the squad against Augsburg after the tall French central defender recovered from a hip injury and returned to team training.

Bayern, one point behind on six, will travel to Arminia Bielefeld after Thursday’s delayed German Cup first round against Dueren.

Promoted Arminia have not lost at home in the first and second division in more than a year and with many Bayern players playing their third or even fourth game in 10 days there could be room for a surprise.

“It is difficult to say,” Bayern coach Hansi Flick said when asked if the frequency of games could have an effect on the team’s performance. “No one is complaining about the many matches. We have to accept the situation as it is.”

The champions’ busy schedule continues with the first Champions’ League group match against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday and Flick is expected to rotate heavily until then.

Dortmund, also on six points, travels to Hoffenheim, with top striker Erling Haaland in superb form after his hat-trick for Norway in their 4-0 Nations League over Romania on Sunday.

  • Bayern Munich suffer 4-1 loss to end long unbeaten run

Bayern Munich suffer 4-1 loss to end long unbeaten run

Quadruple winners Bayern Munich slumped to a shock 4-1 loss at Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Sunday to end their 32-match unbeaten run in all competitions stretching back to last year.

Bayern Munich, winners of the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla after extra time on Thursday, had not lost since Dec. 7, 2019.

They had gone 21 consecutive Bundesliga matches without defeat, winning their last 15.

The European champions conceded two goals in eight minutes as their usually solid defence collapsed under Hoffenheim pressure.

Ermin Bicackcic put them ahead in the 16th minute and Manus Dabbur doubled the lead.

Joshua Kimmich cut the deficit with a superbly curled shot into the top corner in the 36th minute and Bayern Munich missed several good chances to level early in the second half.

But Andrej Kramaric, who had earlier hit the post, killed off their hopes in the 77th minute.

He controlled a cross with his back to the goal and turned beautifully to beat goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

A stoppage time penalty kick by Croatia forward Kramaric crowned a memorable win for Hoffenheim.

  • Club’s server collapses over ticket demand for first Bundesliga game in 11 years

Club’s server collapses over ticket demand for first Bundesliga game in 11 years

Ticket demand for Arminia Bielefeld’s first Bundesliga home game in 11 years on Saturday prompted their server to collapse.

Season ticket-holders were originally able to register from Sunday evening for the promoted team’s game against Cologne for which as of now 5,300 spectators are to be allowed in.

This is as a result of coronavirus restrictions.

Demand was so high that their internet server went down and they had to take the registration form off their website, apologising and promising a new form later Monday.

“We had expected a rush, but nothing like this,” a club statement said. “We will do everything we can to learn from the mistakes.”

Arminia Bielefeld reassured fans by saying the time of registration would have no influence on the distribution of the tickets which is to be done by lot.

  • Dortmund’s Sancho off to pre-season camp amid transfer speculation

Dortmund’s Sancho off to pre-season camp amid transfer speculation

Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho left with his team for a pre-season training camp in Switzerland on Monday amid ongoing speculation of a possible transfer to the English Premier League (EPL).

The 20-year-old England international, who has a contract with the German club until 2022, had a stellar season with the Bundesliga runners-ups.

He has been reportedly targeted by several top clubs, including Manchester United.

Sancho scored 17 league goals and set up another 16, with Borussia Dortmund saying they would only let him go if their price expectations were met fully.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Sancho but media reports say the club may have balked at Borussia Dortmund’s valuation of around 120 million euros (141.24 million dollars).

That will make him the Bundesliga’s most expensive transfer ever and would see the German top division lose arguably its most exciting young player.

On Monday, however, Sancho flew with his team to Switzerland for the start of their pre-season training.

Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus and defender Marcel Schmelzer stayed behind to recover from injuries.

It is unclear when Reus, who has been sidelined for months with a groin injury, will be able to return to training.

The Bundesliga season starts on Sept. 18.

  • Final day Bundesliga drama awaits Werder, Leverkusen

Final day Bundesliga drama awaits Werder, Leverkusen

Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen are bracing for their most important games of the Bundesliga season.

This is as relegation looms over the former and a highly lucrative Champions League spot is on the line for the latter in Saturday’s final match day.

Champions Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have secured three of the four Champions League spots and Leverkusen would have been in the driving seat for the fourth but for a shock 2-0 defeat at Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

That loss allowed Borussia Moenchengladbach to leapfrog them into fourth on 62 points, two ahead of Leverkusen, who must now beat Mainz 05 on Saturday and hope Gladbach slip up at home against Hertha.

Playing in Europe’s elite club competition had become even more important for clubs given sharp declines in revenues due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“For Saturday, there is only one goal and that is to win our home game against Mainz.

“We must be fully alert from the start and hopefully score an early goal and add to that.

“That can put Gladbach under pressure,” added the Germany international.

“The frustration of the Hertha defeat was big, but we must only look ahead now,” Leverkusen’s attacking midfielder Nadiem Amiri said.

Leverkusen also have a German Cup final against Bayern to look forward to on July 4.

The situation was far more critical at four-time German champions Werder, who took on Cologne with the prospect of their first relegation since 1980 hanging over them.

Werder had spent more time in the Bundesliga than any other club but on Saturday even a win against Cologne might not be enough to knock Fortuna Duesseldorf out of the relegation playoff spot.

Werder, on 28 points in 17th place, trail Duesseldorf by two points.

To make their task even more difficult, Werder could be without top scorer Milot Rashica after he picked up an ankle injury in Wednesday’s training.(

  • Bayern Munich clinches eight Bundesliga title in Bremen

Bayern Munich clinches eight Bundesliga title in Bremen

Bayern Munich have clinched an eighth consecutive Bundesliga title by winning 1-0 away to Werder Bremen to go 10 points clear of Borussia Dortmund, who have only three games left to play.

Robert Lewandowski’s 31st goal of the season sealed the latest championship for Bayern, who also had Alphonso Davies sent off.

It completes a remarkable turnaround from having sacked Coach Niko Kovac in November.

Hansi Flick took over and led the team to 19 wins from 22 Bundesliga games to leave the opposition trailing in their wake.

Bayern have now won 30 German titles with 29 coming in the Bundesliga era.

Dortmund play their mid-week match at home to Mainz on Wednesday as they attempt to hold on to the runners-up spot.

Borussia Moenchegladbach boosted their Champions League hopes 3-0 at home to Wolfsburg, Freiburg continued the chase for a Europa League spot 2-1 over Hertha Berlin and Paderborn were relegated after losing 1-0 at Union Berlin, who confirmed their top-flight status for next season.

Bayern’s probing in Bremen finally found weakness in the resilient Bremen defence two minutes before the break.

Lewandowski brilliantly controlled a chip from Jerome Boateng to fire home and start the countdown to the title party.

After the break, Bayern dominated possession and Lewandowski had a clever flick ruled out for offside.

Davies collected a second yellow with 10 minutes remaining but though Manuel Neuer was called into action Yuya Osako the outcome of the game was never in doubt.

And neither, ultimately, was the outcome of the title race.

Bayern were seven points adrift in seventh in early December after losing to then leaders Gladbach but have not tasted defeat since.

Gladbach and others have been hauled in and the 1-0 win in Dortmund, soon after the resumption from the coronavirus break, made the championship a matter of time.

Bremen remain in the second automatic relegation place, behind Fortuna Dusseldorf – who visit third-placed RB Leipzig on Wednesday – on goal difference ahead of a six-pointer at 15th-placed Mainz this weekend.

Paderborn have been adrift at the bottom for weeks and Ben Zolinski’s own goal condemned them to another defeat in Berlin.

The win lifted Union to 12th, and guaranteed safety, in their maiden Bundesliga campaign.

At the other end of the table, a first half double from Jonas Hofmann helped Gladbach ease past an off-form Wolfsburg to go fourth and into the final Champions League place.

Hofmann’s goals in the 10th and 30th minutes put the Foals in control and Lars Stindl added a fine third after the break.

Gladbach are two points ahead of fifth-placed Bayer Leverkusen, who host local rivals Cologne on Wednesday.

Wolfsburg are sixth as they look to secure a return to the Europa League by finishing in the top seven.

That spot is currently occupied by Freiburg who beat mid-table Hertha Berlin through Vincezno Grifo and Nils Petersen either side of Vedad Ibisevic’s penalty.

  • Bayern Munich crush Leverkusen to stay firmly on title course

Bayern Munich crush Leverkusen to stay firmly on title course

Bayern Munich came from a goal down to ease past hosts Bayer Leverkusen 4-2 on Saturday and remain firmly on course to retain the Bundesliga title with four games remaining.

The Bavarians are within touching distance of their eighth consecutive league crown and have also set a league record with 90 goals after 30 match days.

Bayer Leverkusen’s 17-year-old Florian Wirtz stole some of the spotlight at the end, becoming the youngest Bundesliga scorer when he netted in the 89th minute.

Lucas Alario fired the hosts into the lead after 10 minutes as Bayer Leverkusen, without the injured Kai Havertz, scored with the first chance of the game.

But Bayern Munich recovered from the early shock.

Kingsley Coman curled in the equaliser in the 28th minute before the visitors struck twice in three minutes to turn the game around.

Leon Goretzka completed a sensational passing move in the 42nd minute and Serge Gnabry chipped the ball over goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky on the stroke of halftime.

Bundesliga top goalscorer Robert Lewandowski headed in Thomas Mueller’s 20th assist of the season.

Lewandowski took his tally to 30 league goals but is still 10 shy of the all-time league record of 40 set by Gerd Mueller in 1971-1972.

Both he and Mueller were booked and will have to sit out their next game against Borussia Moenchengladbach.

“We needed a bit of time to get into the game and the goal was a wake-up call for us,” said Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick, whose team has won 23 of the 26 matches since he took over earlier this season.

“The way we came back from a goal down shows the attitude and mentality of the team.”

It was Bayern Munich’s ninth straight win, but there was also some cheer for Bayer Leverkusen in spite of their setback in the race for a UEFA Champions League spot.

German youth international Wirtz made a name for himself with a superb 89th minute strike past goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

It made him the youngest Bundesliga scorer at 17 years and 34 days.

Borussia Dortmund’s 1-0 win over Hertha Berlin later means Bayern Munich lead the table from Borussia Dortmund by seven points.

RB Leipzig are third, 11 points behind, after conceding a last-gasp equaliser in their 1-1 draw with bottom club Paderborn.

    Bayer Leverkusen stayed fifth.

In other matches, Mainz beat hosts Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 while Dusseldorf drew 2-2 with visiting Hoffenheim.
