The letter read: “It has come to the notice of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs that despite the suspension of all recently appointed Caretaker Committee members for Local Government (LGAS) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the State by a Court of competent jurisdiction, some individuals in these former positions are still parading themselves in that posts.

The Chairman, House Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters, and State Honours, Bolaji Badmos, said the screening was carried out in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Local Government Law, 2001(as amended).

A total of 57 nominees were screened and 55 were found appointable, while two who did not meet the requirements were stepped down,’’ he said.

The assembly also urged the executive arm of government to forward replacement for the two nominees for screening.

It also called on the executive arm to be gender-compliant in the next chairmanship nominations.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that among those confirmed were Gov. Abiola Ajimobi’s brother, Teslim; son of former Gov. Adebayo Alao-Akala, Olamijuwonlo; and Gbade Lana, son of the immediate past Olubadan of Ibadanland. (NAN)
