UEFA order Carlo Ancelotti back to school

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is being ordered back to school.

Il Corriere dello Sport says the Italian’s coaching license expired on December 31 and UEFA have already informed Ancelotti.

To renew his license, Ancelotti must take a 15-hour course.

However, the Spanish Federation has already spoken with Ancelotti to assure him that he will speak with UEFA to resolve the situation.

In Italy, industry insiders say it is very surprising and many describe it as “embarrassing” because they do not understand that Ancelotti, with more than 1,200 games on the bench and with 21 titles to his credit, has seen his license expire and must take courses to renew it.

Ancelotti tasks Iwobi, others as Everton battle Man United (See weekend fixtures)

Carlo Ancelotti says Everton will revise their approach to tackling Manchester United for Saturday’s Premier League encounter at Old Trafford.

Everton visit United aiming for a fifth straight away victory – and eighth from 11 league games on the road.

The meeting with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team, perhaps, represents Everton’s toughest away test yet, however.

United have twice won at Goodison Park this season – a league match in November and the following month’s Carabao Cup quarter-final – and are fresh from toppling Southampton 9-0 on Tuesday.

Everton manager Ancelotti insists his ploy for the weekend – when the Italian will continue his rotation policy after both James Rodriguez and Michael Keane were rested for Wednesday’s win at Leeds United – is designed to make life for the hosts as awkward as possible.

“We played two games against Manchester United at home and lost both,” said Ancelotti.

“There is something we have to change, for sure.

“If we follow the same way we played [in the Goodison games], we are going to lose.

“We tried to plan a different strategy and we will see how it works.

“The mental aspect is really important but we have to practically try to do something different – to create more problems than in the past games we played against them.

“United is a fantastic team, with a good mix between experience and talented young players.

“The players know it will be difficult but I hope it will be difficult for United to play against us.

“I am going to rotate other players, this is a normal way I have to manage my squad.

“To avoid injury and to give more motivation to others.”

Ancelotti stopped short of giving away details about his team selection – save for confirming Robin Olsen will retain his place in goal in the absence of Jordan Pickford, who is nursing an abdomen problem.

Ferguson asked me to succeed him at Man Utd – Ancelotti

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti admits Sir Alex Ferguson wanted him to take charge of Manchester United in 2013.

The Italian, whose side face Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team on Wednesday evening, said he had always been grateful to the Scot for considering him but had committed himself to Real Madrid instead. United have not approached him since.

Ancelotti said: “I can say that I keep a fantastic relationship with Sir Alex. We met when he decided to stop but I was close to Real Madrid. I appreciate the fact at that time he talked to me.”

Ferguson revealed in 2015 that Ancelotti was one of several ‘very desirable’ candidates whose availability he canvassed before settling on David Moyes.

“It became apparent that Jose Mourinho had given his word to Roman Abramovich that he would return to Chelsea and that Carlo Ancelotti would succeed him at Real Madrid,” he wrote in his book Leading.

Alcantara joined the wrong team – Ancelotti

Thiago Alcantara has been told by Everton manager, Carlo Ancelotti, that he joined the wrong team.

The Spain midfielder and Ancelotti worked together at Bayern Munich during the 2016/2017 season.

The 29-year-old has now signed for Everton’s Merseyside rivals, Liverpool, after winning the Champions League with Bayern.

“Breaks my heart, breaks my heart,” Ancelotti told the Echo.

“The only good thing about this signing is that he is a neighbour and that’s it. I think he chose the wrong team.

“He could choose the blue team, not the red team. I am joking. He is a fantastic player and my friend, Jurgen, will be happy.”

  • Ancelotti confirms Iwobi return date

    Ancelotti confirms Iwobi return date

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti said Alex Iwobi will resume group training next week and will not be available for their Premier League fixture Against West Ham United on Saturday.

The summer-signing suffered a hamstring injury during a league match against his former club, Arsenal on December 21 and he has missed their last five games.

Before the setback, Iwobi was a prominent player for the Toffees, starting 11 of his 16 league appearances with a goal to his name.

“Alex Iwobi will not be ready for the match. I think next week he will be able to train with us,” Ancelotti the club website.

Everton will be aiming for their fourth league win on the road this season when they visit David Moye’s West Ham at the London Stadium.

They are 11th in the Premier League table with 28 points after 22 matches

  • Ancelotti reveals he lost to Klopp for Liverpool job

Carlo Ancelotti has revealed he lost out to Jurgen Klopp in the race to become Liverpool manager in 2015, and admits the club’s owners made the right decision in picking the German.

Following Brendan Rodgers’ sacking in October, 2015, Ancelotti held talks about succeeding him, before Liverpool opted to hire Klopp.

Two months later, it was announced Ancelotti was to succeed Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich at the conclusion of the 2015/16 season.

“It was after [I left] Real Madrid, I had a chat with the owner,” Ancelotti said.

“They were looking for a new manager but I think they made a right choice with Jurgen. He is doing fantastic work at Liverpool, so well done.”

However, despite his recent success against them, Ancelotti knows Everton must produce a “perfect” performance if they are to win at Anfield for the first time since 1999 when they play in the FA Cup third round on Sunday.

“Jurgen is my friend, we have a good relationship and I had the luck to beat him last season as well, although they won the competition,” Ancelotti said.

Ancelotti is the only coach to beat a side managed by Klopp this season.

He guided Napoli to a 2-0 Champions League victory against the European champions in September. His side also beat Liverpool last season and earned a draw at Anfield in November.

  • Everton announce Ancelotti as new manager

English Premier League (EPL) clubside Everton on Saturday named former Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager.

Former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich coach Ancelotti replaces Portuguese Marco Silva, who was sacked after Everton dropped into the relegation zone.

Silva’s sacking followed the club’s 5-2 defeat by Merseyside rivals Liverpool earlier this month.

Ancelotti will however be in the stands as the club take on Arsenal later on Saturday in the Premier League with Everton’s interim manager Duncan Ferguson remaining in charge.

  • Ancelotti heading to Everton in June

Sky Sport has reported that former Napoli coach, Carlo Ancelotti has reached an agreement in principle to become the next manager of struggling Premier League club Everton.

The Italian, who has won three Champions League titles in a garlanded career, left Napoli earlier this month after a high-profile falling out with club chairman Aurelio di Laurentis.

Everton are 16th in the Premier League, three points above the relegation zone, having sacked Portuguese coach Marco Silva after a 5-2 defeat by Liverpool on Dec. 4.

Former Everton striker Duncan Ferguson has been appointed interim boss, securing a 3-1 home win over Chelsea and a 1-1 draw at Manchester United from his two games in charge.

Should the 60-year-old Ancelotti finalise a deal with Everton it would be a significant coup for the Merseyside club given his coaching CV, which includes trophy-laden spells at AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris St Germain, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Ferguson will lead the team in their League Cup quarter-final at home to Leicester City on Wednesday.

Former Everton boss David Moyes was linked to the post after Shanghai’s Victor Pereira ruled himself out last week

  • Arsenal take decision on appointing Carlo Ancelotti

Former Napoli manager, Carlo Ancelotti, is not on Arsenal’s list of potential managerial candidates, ESPN reports.

The Italian was sacked by the Serie A outfit, despite guiding them to the Champions League knockout stage.

However, Ancelotti was struggling in the league, with Napoli in seventh place.

Arsenal recently sacked manager Unai Emery and are looking for a replacement, with reports having suggested Ancelotti could become their next permanent boss.

However, the Gunners hierarchy feel the 60-year-old does not fit the profile of manager they are looking for and are also not convinced by his most recent experiences.

Ancelotti was fired by Bayern Munich in 2017 and then Napoli midway through his second season, with both clubs languishing outside the Champions League places.

  • Napoli sack Ancelotti after 4-0 Champions League win

Napoli have sacked manager Carlo Ancelotti less than three hours after he guided them into the Champions League knockout stages.

The Serie A club had not won in nine games in all competitions until Tuesday’s 4-0 success at home to Genk.

Ancelotti was in his second season in charge of Napoli but they sit seventh in the league after that poor run.

They are the only team to beat Liverpool in 90 minutes this season, defeating the Reds 2-0 in September.

Last month the manager and Napoli players were in a high-profile dispute with president Aurelio de Laurentiis.

De Laurentiis ordered the team to attend a week-long training camp but Ancelotti and his players all returned home.

Ancelotti, who won the Premier League and FA Cup Double with Chelsea in 2009-10, has been linked with the vacant managers’ jobs at Arsenal and Everton.

He is one of only three managers to win three European Cups/Champions Leagues – along with Liverpool legend Bob Paisley and current Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane.

Ancelotti won two Champions Leagues with AC Milan and one with Real Madrid, as well as domestic titles with Milan, Chelsea, Paris St-Germain and Bayern Munich.

He did not appear to know an announcement was imminent after the win over Genk, when he said: “I’ll speak to president De Laurentiis tomorrow and we’ll make the best decision for Napoli.

“As far as I’m concerned, with certain players coming back and the right conditions in place, this team can still target fourth place.

“The win tonight is a weight off our shoulders and can give the players a big boost for the future.”

But a tweet later that evening simply read: “SSC Napoli has taken the decision to part ways with first-team coach Carlo Ancelotti.

“The friendship and mutual respect between the club, president Aurelio de Laurentiis and Carlo Ancelotti remain intact.”

Reports in the Italian media suggest that Gennaro Gattuso, sacked by AC Milan at the end of last season, has been lined up as Ancelotti’s replacement.
