EPL: Casemiro blamed for Manchester United’s loss to Aston Villa

Soccer legend and former Arsenal player, Ian Wright, has blamed Manchester United’s Casemiro for their 3-1 loss to  Aston Villa.

Aston Villa under new Manager, Unai Emery inflicted first loss on Manchester United in ten games.

Villa went 2-0 up in the first 11 minutes, and despite United pulling one back, Emery’s side restored their two-goal cushion to run out as 3-1 winners.

Wright accused Casemiro of negligence for Villa’s opening goal inside seven minute of the encounter.

According to Wright, if the opening goal was prevented, maybe Villa wouldn’t have scored more than than 1 or 2.

Casemiro played the entire 90 minutes, and Wright feels the Brazil midfielder could have done better for Villa’s opening goal on seven minutes.

“Ollie Watkins played very well, he ran himself into the ground today.

“Once it got to Leon Bailey on his left foot, it was going to be a problem.

“[Watkins] dragged Lindelof out of his position, I was thinking Casemiro has got to drop in there. It just looks too big, there was a massive space.

“You can see once the ball went in to Leon Bailey on his strong foot [he was going to score], it could have been avoided.

“They needed to have their wits about them there. I’m very surprised Casemiro didn’t see that,” Wright told Premier League Productions.

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric says the blow of losing Casemiro to Manchester United has been softened.

Speaking to Real Madrid TV, the former Tottenham man said: “We’ve started really well this year and we have a strong team.

“In midfield, we lost an important player in Casemiro, but we’ve got a lot of other good players to replace him and do a good job. [Aurelien] Tchouameni has adapted really well. This is [Eduardo] Camavinga’s second year and he had a great first year. [Toni] Kroos has been here for a long time. [Federico] Valverde is also doing really well in any position. [Dani] Ceballos is helping the team a lot.

“For me you train like you play. I feel that’s key to winning games and titles.

“You have to train as hard as possible to play at your best, be strong and fully committed.”

He added: “Of course everyone wants to win matches, win in training, learn in training.

Former Manchester United player, Sinclair tips Casemiro for greatness at Old Trafford

Former Manchester United and England star, Trevor Sinclair is pleased with the club’s latest transfer deals in the ongoing season.

Sinclair believes the acquisition of Casemiro will add quality to the club side going forward, saying he will play like Fernandinho in the defensive Midfield position.

He told talkSPORT: “He puts himself about. He’s probably not as mobile or as quick as Fernandinho,” Sinclair said.

“But when you are talking about anticipating where the ball is going to land and giving it to other players, he’s second to none. He is one of the best in the world at that.

The Brazil international has completed his £59.5million move from Real Madrid to Old Trafford and was paraded in front of United fans before kick-off in Monday night’s win over Liverpool.

Trevor Lloyd Sinclair is an English football coach, professional footballer, and pundit. You’re coming into a bad dressing room – Roy Keane warns Casemiro

Roy Keane has warned Manchester United’s new signing Casemiro about the club dressing room.

The Irishman was speaking before their Premier League game against Liverpool on Monday, which they won 2-1.

Casemiro was at the stadium for the match, but was not registered in time to participate.

“I think he’s a good signing,” Keane told Sky Sports.

    “They’ve paid a lot of money, he’s 30 years of age, he’s got a five-year contract.

“If you’re a player out there and Man United come looking for you, you know you’re going to get a great deal.

“It’s a start but they need some more, they need more help.

“The problem is for any player coming into Man United now, as good as they are, they’re coming into a bad dressing room, they’re coming into a bad group of players.

“We keep mentioning it in the last year or two, these players don’t want to run, they don’t seem like a good group. That’s a problem for any player, however good they are.

“They’re desperate, but I think he is a quality player. You can look at the bigger picture and go obviously it’s a lot of money and a long contract, the agents out there must be delighted dealing with Man United, but when you’re desperate you’ve got to pay over the odds.”

I haven’t joined Man Utd for money – Casemiro

Departing Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro says he hasn’t joined Manchester United for money.

At his farewell ceremony today at the Santiago Bernabeu, Casemiro took questions from the media.

He said, “It wasn’t that fast. After the Champions League final there were already talks that my cycle was ending. It was a very important decision for me. It was very difficult for me to talk to the president, but honesty is one of my values and I always have to be honest with him.

“I think the feeling that the cycle was over.”

Asked if it was a question of money, Casemiro continued: “People who think that know I’m not like that. If it was for money I would have left four or five years ago. The club has always behaved well. It is my decision, to close a cycle. He who thinks like this does not know me.”

On moving to United, he said: “I want to transmit my values. What Real Madrid taught me here I want to teach here. The mentality of winning titles, games, training… I want to learn from the League. I’m really excited. I am in the best moment. I’m still enjoying it.”

And on a reunion with former Real teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, Casemiro added: “I have not spoken with him, but I am very excited to play with him. El Bicho will continue to be a football legend. • Real Madrid close in on Mbappe, secure extension with Casemiro

Real Madrid close in on Mbappe, secure extension with Casemiro

Kylian Mbappe arrived at the training ground of French clubside Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on Friday amid the expectation Real Madrid would push to complete his signing in the coming hours.

Mbappe wore a white baseball cap and white T-shirt, and whether by accident or design that only fuelled anticipation of a blockbuster move to Los Blancos.

One deal Real Madrid did complete on Friday was with midfielder Casemiro, who has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until June 2025.

The Brazilian’s original deal was set to expire at the conclusion of next season.

According to reports in Spain, Real Madrid have offered 170 million euros (200 million dollars) plus 10 million euros in add-ons for Mbappe.

Mbappe, 22, has entered the final year of his PSG contract and there has been no indication of a desire on his part to extend his stay.

He would be able to leave on a free transfer at the end of the current season, were he not to agree new terms.

PSG sporting director Leonardo was also pictured making his way into the training facility.

Earlier this week, Leonardo expressed dissatisfaction as the saga unfolded, with PSG having heavily invested during the close season to assemble a formidable squad.

They have brought in Lionel Messi from FC Barcelona in a staggering move, as well as acquiring the likes of Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Georginio Wijnaldum and Achraf Hakimi.

Messi could make his debut against Reims, but that factor was being overshadowed by the prospect of PSG possibly losing Mbappe.

The Frenchman is a player they hoped to build the team around for years to come.

Leonardo said on Wednesday: “We cannot be happy with this situation, because we did something this summer.

“We have created a dream, we will not let anyone destroy it or position themselves above the club.

“Kylian is at the centre of the project but not above it. We created a positive atmosphere, a desire, an emotion. That was our plan.”

Casemiro will now remain at the Santiago Bernabeu for a further two years after putting pen to paper on fresh terms.

The 29-year-old is the latest player to extend his stay in the Spanish capital after Karim Benzema and Federico Valverde also committed their future in the past week.

Casemiro has made 288 appearances for Real Madrid since arriving from Sao Paolo on an initial loan spell in January 2013, scoring 30 goals.

He has enjoyed a trophy-laden spell with the club, winning four UEFA Champions League titles, three FIFA Club World Cups and Spanish La Liga on two occasions.

The Brazil international was also part of the Selecao squad which won the 2019 Copa America.

  • Real Madrid losing Casemiro a bonus for Atalanta – Capello

Real Madrid losing Casemiro a bonus for Atalanta – Capello

Former Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello has identified Casemiro as the key to Zinedine Zidane’s team.

Atalanta are at Real Madrid tonight for the second-leg of their Champions League round 16 tie needing to overcome a 1-0 deficit.

And Capello believes losing Casemiro to suspension will hurt Real: “He is fundamental for Zidane, he is a complete midfielder.

“Casemiro is dangerous inside the box with his headers and the other two midfielders are always comfortable when he plays because they have more attacking duties.

“I coached [Marcel] Desailly and I can say Casemiro is just the same.”
