charlesinojie also reacted to the sad news saying: “A man’s worst fear soon becomes his cover cloth. If only death knew that some creations of God are indestructible. Live on master, mentor, teacher, and father to countless children
“Journey on to new attainments. You are regenerate, your craft, timeless! @colu_mbusirisoanga.”
Popular comic actor and Nollywood movie director, Charles Inojie has broken his silence on the demise of John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Emeka Rollas, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) confirmed the death of Mr Ibu on Saturday.
Inojie, left distraught by the death of his co-comic actor and bosom friend, penned a poetic message via his official Instagram handle.
“Rest in peace, king. Yes, you can have it all now. That which eluded you the most. When it mattered the most. PEACE.
“The peace of mind to recuperate peacefully was a gift too expensive to offer you. Now, it’s all yours, bro. Revel in heavenly peace, infinitum. Rest… Rest… Rest in PEACE,” Inojie wrote on the passing of Mr Ibu.
Recall Mr Ibu and Inojie both share fond memories together. They have both featured in countless Nollywood movies together.
When Mr Ibu was hospitalised and eventually had one of his legs amputated, they both still found the occasion to crack jokes.
Mr Ibu’s death, one too many – Musawa
Meanwhile, the Minister of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has expressed sadness over the death of Mr Ibu.
The Minister, in a statement through her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Nneka Anibeze, described the occurence as “one death, too many”.
Musawa said this was coming just 24 hours after the death of yet another Nollywood actor, Sisi Quadri.
“I’m deeply shocked at too many deaths occurring at the same time. Mr Ibu was a household name who made families happy throughout his acting career.
“His death at this time is very unfortunate and a sad one for us all in the entertainment industry.
“We will sorely miss him. May his soul est in peace,” she said.
Charles Inojie, who stars as Lucky Johnson in the popular sitcom, The Johnsons, has announced the TV series is coming to an end.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports The Johnsons is a family sitcom focused on an average family based in Lagos, Nigeria.
Their diverse traits and how they cope with what life has to offer them single The Johnsons family out.
This is coming after the series lost major actors, including Emu Johnson who died recently and Jennifer and Spiff who recently left, leaving the TV series losing its usual flavour.
“After 13 years of absolute magic, 13 years of awesomeness, 13 years of being Africa’s most watched show on television, 13 years of being every family’s favourite, The Johnsons is finally taking a bow,” Inojie stated.
The veteran Nollywood actor expressed appreciation to the cast and crew, and of course fans of the TV series.
“I want to use this medium to say a big thank you to @rogers.ofime, @officialthejohnsonsfamily, @nativemediatv__ and @africamagic for the privilege of being #luckyjohnson.
“I thank my co travellers, the wonderful team of cast and crew, without whom these past 13 years could not have been spectacularly outstanding as The Johnsons made it.
“I am immensely grateful to our fans across the African continent for the love and support we got unconditionally.
“Indeed, while it is the beginning of greater exploits from every individual member of the team, like every good thing that must have a terminal point, it is the end of the road for The Johnsons,” Inojie wrote via Instagram.
Nigerian actor, Charles Inojie has revealed that his late colleague, Sam Loco-Efe, was the most intelligent Nollywood actor that ever lived”.
Inojie made this known while featuring in a chat with media personality, Chude Jideonwo.
According to Inojie, Efe was “from another planet” due to how much of a genius he was.
He said regrettably, the legendary thespian died without a national honour.
Inojie said, “Uncle Sam (Sam Loco-Efe) was perhaps the most intelligent Nollywood actor that ever lived. He can be here smoking cigarette, and people are rehearsing that way, you won’t know that his subconscious mind is where they are rehearsing. He would be correcting you from afar, you won’t even know he is talking to you.
“If you have a scene to play with him, Uncle Sam would only read with you once. He would ask the others to rehearse their lines. He would read that scene just once. He would say his lines, and when you missed yours, he would tell you your lines. Since I’ve been meeting people, I haven’t seen that type before. Uncle Sam was from another planet.
“But the country we live in, how can anyone imagine that Uncle Sam died without a national honour? In a country where national honours are being given to neophytes, greenhorns. Uncle Sam died without a national honour.
“One of Nigeria’s entries to FESTAC 1977, I think that was ‘Lambodo’ where uncle Sam played the lead role. He got a special mention from the Queen as the best actor in Africa. That kind of human being, even in death, he deserves posthumous awards.”
Sam Loco-Efe died on August 7, 2011, at the age of 65.
Nollywood veteran, Charles Inojie, has claimed female actresses are richer than their male colleagues because of the ‘extra money’ they get from meeting up with affluent and powerful men in society.
He further argued that even actresses who play minor roles in movies are wealthier than male actors who have played lead roles in blockbusters.
The thespian made these claims in an on the latest episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast.
Inojie added that some of his politician buddies occasionally call him and request that he connect them with female actors.
Inojie said: “I spoke about the influx of daughters of Jezebel that came into the industry, still coming into the industry.
“When you see some of them you will know that they can’t even pass an audition.
“They will struggle with minor roles here and there.
“And the next thing you will hear is that she just acquired a multi-million mansion and a 2025 Range Rover.
“You will hear she just got N40 million mansion for her mum.
“And she got a N150 million mansion for herself.
“Then as a male actor you began to ask yourself, ‘What’s happening? Are they paying them extra after settling us?’ But you know that for the female folk, their streams of income are many.
“For instance, whenever some of my politician friends call me, I know they are watching African Magic.
“They will be like, ‘Charles, I’m watching one movie right now. There’s this particular girl. Can I have…’ That’s the multiple streams of income for them.
“Even the actresses know that regardless of whatever the filmmaker is paying them, a huge amount is going to come later from people who patronise them after watching the movie.
“So, by the time a Senator calls here and a House of Representatives member calls there.
“One big business executive calls there and they put it together… Before you know it, one of them would buy a multi-million naira duplex in Lekki.”
Actor, Chinedu Ikedieze has disclosed that Charles Inojie, his colleague in Nollywood was recently robbed of his valuables at gunpoint in Lagos.
Ikedieze, known for his comic roles shared a post on his Instagram page on Monday, where he said that Inojie was robbed on Sunday night while he was stuck in traffic.
“Charles Inojie was robbed at Gunpoint last night inside Lagos traffic. Until he retrieves his personal phone line, you may reach him on 08111072224. Thanks and please be careful out there,” he wrote.
“Charles Inojie is fine as he was unhurt from the harrowing experience of last night. Pls be careful out there.”
TheNewsGuru recalls that Inojie and Ikedieze are popular for playing father and son role in ‘The Johnsons’, a TV family drama.
Ahead of the March 9th Lagos governorship poll, Nigerian celebrities have expressed their views on the forthcoming Lagos gubernatorial elections.
Back in 2015, Oba Rilwan Akiolu said Lagos residents of Igbo descent must vote for the then governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, or else die in the lagoon.
Since then, the Lagos governorship has been viewed as a battle between the ruling party in Lagos, APC, the igbos and other political parties. It has moved from being a political battle to becoming a tribal war.
GT DA GUITARMAN
Lagos guber elections not a tribal war- Gt Da Guitarman, Artiste
I don’t see the Lagos Gubernatorial election as a tribal war. It’s simply a political battle. We all have people that we are supporting. I think it’s more of a political battle. If we were talking about the Presidential election where we had two major parties pushing northerners as their presidential candidates, we would have called that a tribal battle. The deal breaker was Osinbajo who is a Yoruba and Peter Obi who is an Igbo man.
That was the difference between the two political parties Presidential candidates coming from the same part of the country and the Vice Presidential candidates coming from other parts of the country. May be so many Igbos must have tilted towards PDP because of Peter Obi and that now spilled into the Lagos Gubernatorial election.
I feel that it has nothing to do with tribe this time. The major candidates are Yorubas. I am looking forward to the best man winning.
The Lagos election violence was a tribal war- Skuki Peeshaun
One half of singing collective, Skuki, Peeshaun expressed his opinion on the recent violence witnessed in some areas in Lagos during the presidential elections describing it as ‘more of a tribal war than a political battle’.
The singer took to twitter expressing his thoughts. He said: “This is not a political post or a tribalistic one. It’s an awareness post, so you know the motivation that the political thugs are being fed with. The violence we saw in LAGOS during the presi. I think the Presidential election was more of a TRIBAL WAR than a POLITICAL BATTLE. Pls read on… Do you guys remember in 2015, when the Eze-Ndigbos (Igbo elders) paid a courtesy visit to the Oba of Lagos?
“There was insinuations from the Igbo elders that the person they wanted for Lagos governor was PDP’s Jimi Agbaje The Oba of Lagos did not like the vibes he was getting and urged the Igbo elders to support his own candidate, which was APC’s Ambode.
“That was the time the Oba of Lagos said any Igbo person who doesn’t support a peaceful and united Lagos would be thrown into the Lagos lagoon Fast forward to 2019, this GROWING CONFLICT has surfaced again
“Lagos is the fastest growing among the 36 Nigerian states A lot of Igbos are settled here (Lagos) and they wish to hold higher significant positions in this booming state.
“Yoruba cultural leaders fear that, if care is not taken, the Igbos would break all cultural barriers and eventually snatch Lagos state from the Yorubas and install only their brothers into powerful positions in the state”.
It is sad that ethnicity and tribalism are being used to solicit for votes- Ify Ubah, Actress
A couple of days before the presidential elections, someone I met told me bluntly that he knows I will vote PDP (for Peter Obi) because of my tribe.
It is very sad that ethnicity, and tribalism are now used to solicit for votes, by politicians , which resulted in violence in the presidential and national assembly elections where voter intimidation was rampant in certain areas, ballot papers being burnt. Though talks between the Yoruba community and representatives of the Igbo community has taken place after the presidential elections, there is still a bit of uncertainty concerning the possibility of a free and fair and violence free elections in Igbo dominated communities in Lagos State. I would like the Federal and State government to beef up security on Saturday and a couple of days after the results has been announced
I pray for a Nigeria where access to opportunities not based on tribe- Charles Inojie, Actor
I pray for God’s enablement to use my art to advocate for the common good of all citizens. I eagerly wish to see a Nigeria where access to opportunities is free and equal for all, irrespective of your tribe or religion.
I wish to see a country where access to basic education is unfettered by debilitating social contradictions. Indeed, I wish that someday soon, political offices shall become so unattractive that only those who truly desire to serve the people would dare seek to be elected.
As existence draws curtains on the year 2018, TheNewsGuru (TNG) takes a look back at some unforgettable top trend moments of the year.
With President Muhammadu Buhari emergence as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2015 and as 2018 ushers in another election year to determine if he serves second tenure as a democratic president or is replaced, the years seems to be 3 years in one.
It seems 2018 is the year of the mother of all politics, especially as coalition such as the one seen pre-2015 general elections cropped up, however rickety, in earnest expectations to oust seating president Buhari, whom many in some quarters have judged to have performed below par.
From Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s recent stuttering at the vice presidential debates to former governor of Ekiti state, Mr. Ayodele Fayose’s ‘I’m in pains, I can’t take this anymore’ gimmicks to small girls who have big gods, 2018 seems to be the year of assurance; assurance?
The unforgettable trend moments in the year 2018 were just dropping, one by one, gbagam, and we bring them to you in this list ‘gbagamly’.
I’m in pains, I can’t take this anymore; EFCC I’m here
2018 would be incomplete without the mention of former governor of Ekiti state, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, who many have judged, alongside Senators Dino Melaye and Ademola Adeleke, as the clowns of Nigerian politics.

While Senator Melaye is the all time musical politician Nigeria has known, and Senator Adeleke won the prize for the best dancer politician, former governor Fayose won the award for Nigeria’s best actor politician.
The year was dramatic when Mr. Fayose appeared on TV donning a neck gear and weeping accusing the Nigerian police to have beaten him up during a rally organised by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state capital.

Nigerians will not forget in a hurry the polo t-shirt the former governor put on when he appeared at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Abuja.
Let’s not forget that our all time musical politician jumped off a moving vehicle in a ‘james bondic’ manner and then went on to spend 11 hours on top of a tree, escaping people, he said wanted to assassinate him.
The lawmaker, who defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP alleged that his attackers were policemen.
PDP’s Vice Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi and his counterpart in APC, Yemi Osinbajo both stole the show as they battled each other at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja in the vice presidential dabate.
The internet was abuzz with uploads of memes, quotes, short videos, other form of excerpts from the debate session and of course Osinbajo’s stuttering caught the attention of Nigerians, who themselves also took over the heated conversation by citing some of the statistics doled out by the several vice presidential candidates to support their arguments who should be Nigeria’s next VP.
Candidly, I did not know how to spell out Osinbajo’s famous stuttering at the debate. Whether it is “why we were where were where” or “why we where were we were”, I really don’t know. But, what we all know is that our amiable VP said what he said. Thats all!
The police is your friend, so if we laugh over a transmission joke, they will understand. The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris Kpotun transmitted in the course of the year while trying to read his speech during a commissioning event.
President Muhammadu Buhari in April did not take it easy on the Nigerian youth at the Commonwealth Business Forum in London he attended.
He expressed dissatisfaction with the country’s young population he said just want government to hand them everything on a platter.
While the president did not explicitly say Nigerian youths are lazy, Nigerians felt bad by the comments he made that implied so.
One Anthony Okolo questioned the president about the Northeastern region of the country, which actually prompted Buhari’s reaction.

Iberiberism
Okay, so, if anyone wants a statue of himself at any location of choice in Nigeria, we probably now know who to contract by now. In Imo State, it seems Governor Rochas Okorocha might be having the statue of every Nigerian in the locker room to erect somewhere. Lets not forget this is our happiness governor and the crooner of iberiberism.
What if you come to my state, I have collected N500 billion and the only thing I could show to you is borehole… for me that is what I call iberiberism, Okorochas said in an interview with Channels TV.
Whatever iberiberism meant in that syntactic structure, the term stood among the top trend moments of the year.
NYSC certificate
2018 might not be the best of years for former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun as reports emerged she allegedly skipped the compulsory one year National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) programme and forged her exemption certificate.
Adeosun, who is one of the best ministers, if not the best, President Buhari had was forced to resigned after investigations into the matter. The Adeosun certificate moment is one of the most powerful moments of the year.
Assurance
Of course, it seems 2018 is the year of assurance. If 2018 is not the year of assurance for you, it definitely was for Chioma Avril.
Nigerian music superstar, Davido orchestrated this unforgettable 2018 moment gifting Chioma, his girlfriend, a Porsche car which reportedly costs N45 million.
The 2018 lover boy also took to his Twitter handle to announce a N60 million endorsement deal for Chioma, and it did not end there.
The Nigerian pop star released a high-life mid-tempo song with a follow up Chioma-dedicated music video, in which Davido shows his romantic side, heaping praises on Chioma his lover.
Nigerians sure caught the fever, and 2019 may be the year of insurance.
Sweet Boys Association
Many know him as a rapper and actor, but Folarin ‘Falz’ Falana now loves to be called president of the Sweet Boys Association (SBA).
The entertainer calls SBA a prestigious league of well-mannered, well-clad and purposeful, ambitious gentlemen.
According to Falz, the inaugural members of the Sweet Boys Association are BBNaija star Tobi Bakre, media personality Noble Igwe, fashion designer Mai Atafo, singers Ric Hassani, Adekunle Gold and Banky W, actor Timini Egbuson, among others.
If you have not been living under a rock, the Sho mo age mi ni trend won’t be alien to you. ‘Sho mo age mi ni’ meaning ‘do you know my age?’ is a Yoruba jargon that trended on Nigerian social media platforms especially on Instagram.
The slang, made popular by budding Nigerian actor, Abimbola Kazeem a.k.a Jiganbabaoja, spread like wildfire with celebrities creating comedy skits from the trend.
2018 was the year of stew, as well, and this may echo forth into the year 2019.
Everywhere stew is a slang that can be attributed to Freedom Atsepoyi popularly known as Mr. Jollof, with stew becoming viral after Wizkid released his hit song titled ‘Fever’, in which he featured Tiwa Savage in the video.
Celebrities like D’banj and Don Jazzy also leveraged on the trend by using the slang to talk about their songs and activities.
Personally, I think Naomi Campbell won the ‘small girl, big god’ contest, if it were to be a contest actually. Campbell and Buhari allegedly stumbled upon each other at the launch of the Eko Atlantic City, and it was the talk of the town for a period of time in the year.
Campbell took a snapshot with Buhari and tweeted, “Was a pleasure to be invited by his Excellency, the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, to the private launch of Eko Atlantic @NGRPresident @MBuhari”.
When a typical Yoruba man says “I deserve some accolades”, it sounds like a person’s full name, like Adisa Sam Akolade, just like Toke Makinwa found out that “Able God” was not actually “Ebuka”.
Mr. Spellz
Internet sensation, Dede Nne aka Mr. Spellz gained prominence over a viral video he featured in where he misspelt ‘Buhari’, with Nigerians on social media in a bid to imitate his spelling errors created a trend from his mistakes.
