    Chelsea winger, Noni Madueke’s father keeps mum on son playing for Nigeria

    Nigerian born Chelsea star,  Noni Madueke is yet to choose between Nigeria and England national team.

    When asked, the player’s father, Ifeanyi Madueke refused to make any categorical comment on the issue while on visit to Nigeria.

    Recall that Madueke’s Father was in Uyo last weekend on the invitation of Superstars Academy president and NFF Youth Football Development Committee member, Victor Apugo on a scouting assignment.

    He revealed his delight to be in the country and he praised the quality of talents he saw but insisted that talent must be marched with hard work and good character.

    “I’m happy to be in the country. I’ve been impressed with the quality of facility they have here in Uyo and I’ve also seen some talented players, but they need to put in more hard work to achieve their dreams. I look forward to being here in November for the Superstars scouting tournament,” said Madueke.

    He refused  however to give anything away when questioned on the international future of his son and Chelsea forward Noni, insisting that he won’t make any comment on that for now.

    The 21-year-old Noni was born in London and has represented the Three Lions of England at various youth levels.

    However, Madueke is also eligible to represent Nigeria through his parents, who are of Nigerian origin.

    Under the current FIFA rule, Madueke can switch international allegiance to Nigeria as he is only 21 and has not played for England at the senior level.

    While thanking Madueke for honouring his invitation, Apugo urged him to use his influence and contacts to contribute to the discovery and development of talents from Nigeria.

    EPL: Lavia, Washington undergo medicals at Chelsea

    Chelsea have acquired the services of Romeo Lavia and Deivid Washington and both players would have their medicals completed today at the club.

    The Blues on Tuesday, agreed a £53m plus £5m deal with Southampton for the Belgian defensive Midfielder, Lavia.

    While, Brazillian attacker, Washington, who was born 2005, joins the Blues from Santos.

    The striker will cost Chelsea €16m plus €4m in potential add-ons.

    “Roméo Lavia, in London today in order to complete medical tests as Chelsea player after £53m plus £5m deal agreed yesterday night.

    “Brazilian talent Deivid Washington also completing final part of medical today ahead of club statement,” transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, tweeted.

    Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has explained why he chose Right full back, Reece James as the team’s new captain.

    James replaces Cesar Azpilicueta, who left Stamford Bridge this summer to team up with Spanoish side, Atletico Madrid.

    Recall that James wore the armband during Chelsea’s pre-season tour and the academy graduate now has it on a permanent basis.

    “This is a decision taken by me and the club. We are very pleased Reece will captain the side this season.

    “He leads by example and his attitude and dedication to Chelsea has been clear throughout pre-season. He proudly wore the armband during our summer tour and will take up the challenge of leading our squad with his own approach and ideas,” Pochettino said.

    EPL: Chelsea face points reduction over financial rule breaches

    Chelsea football club are currently facing points reduction over their alleged involvement in financial rule breaches during the Roman Abramovich era.

    The new owners at Stamford Bridge led by Todd Boehly, reported their own club to UEFA and the Premier League following their takeover last summer.

    The Blues has not been charged or indicted of any financial breach but the Premier League board is currently studying the situation.

    If the Blues are found guilty of rule breaches, the sanctions could include a fine or a points deduction.

    On July 28, UEFA fined Chelsea €10m for “submitting incomplete financial information” between 2012 and 2019.

    When approached by Sky Sports News, Chelsea chose not to comment.

    EPL: Lukaku to re-join Chelsea on Monday

    Chelsea striker, Romelu Lukaku has been told to return to the club’s Cobham training ground on Monday or risk being sanctioned.

    Recall that Inter Milan pulled out of a deal to acquiore the Belgian forward on a permanent deal.

    Inter were ready to offer £30million plus add-ons for Lukaku, after Juventus offered £32m plus £2m.

    However, they were unable to reach Lukaku’s agent amid concerns he has spoken to Juventus.

    The 30-year-old is due to return to Chelsea imminently, but will not travel with the rest of the squad to the US on their tour.

    Mail Sport reports that Chelsea still expect to sell Lukaku, with Todd Boehly understood to want around £40m.

    However, Lukaku has made it known that he prefers to remain in Italy.

    Chelsea’s new coach, Mauricio Pochetinno has said he really wants Belgium striker, Romelu Lukaku back at the club.

    Pochettino made this known while Speaking at a press conference for the first time since assuming his role at Chelsea on July 1.

    The Argentine gaffer, put to bed the speculation around Lukaku’s Chelsea return.

    Recall that Chelsea have witnessed mass exodus of players with many of them leaving for Saudi Arabian clubsides.

    However, Lukaku’s situation remains uncertain as he seems satidfied with remaining at last season’s UEFA Champions League finalist, Inter Milan where he’s on loan.

    When asked about Lukaku’s potential return for pre-season training, Pochettino stated, “The situation, all the parts know what we think. I think in that case, he needs to come back the 12th, or 13th into the squad for the start of pre-season.”

    Asked if  he had already spoken to Lukaku or was simply assuming his return to the Cobham training center, Pochettino replied, “Of course. Like with all of the players, the first thing they do when they arrive is to come to my office and see me. That is what I expect if he is still a Chelsea player.”

    Pochettino’s arrival at Chelsea follows a disappointing season for the club, who finished 12th in the Premier League. The 51-year-old coach previously had a tumultuous tenure at Paris Saint-Germain, where he secured a Ligue 1 title, as well as the Coupe de France and Trophee des Champions.

    “My target is to win, my aim is to win,” Pochettino emphasized.

    “If you are in a club like Chelsea, you can’t talk about doing a nice job and playing well. Yes, of course, I can do a good job, play well, and adhere to our style and culture, but, of course, the ultimate goal is to win. Failure to do so at a club like Chelsea will undoubtedly result in hardship.”

    EPL: Harry Kane speaks on former boss joining Chelsea

    Tottenham striker, Harry Kane has praised his former coach Mauricio Pochettino for summoning the courage to accept to coach Chelsea football club.

    Kane wished the Argentine gaffer well at the Stamford Bridge.

    TheNewsGuru.com reports that Pochettino was confirmed as the Blues’ next permanent boss on Monday.

    The former Tottenham and Paris Saint Germain coach  has signed a two-year deal, with the option for a further year.

    Kane made his big breakthrough under Pochettino and does not hold any grudges with the 51-year-old over his decision to coach Spurs’ London rivals.

    Speaking to Reuters at an event in New York, Kane said: “Everyone has their career, everyone has their future. So all I can say is I wish him all the best.

    “I hope he does well – just obviously not as well as us!”

    EPL: Chelsea’s next manager revealed

    Mauricio Pochettino has been dubbed the next Chelsea Football Club coach after he has accepted all terms and conditions attached to the contract.

    Football transfer expert and pundit, Fabrizio Romano made this known via his official handle on Saturday evening.

    “Chelsea is now set to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as new head coach, here we go! Full agreement in place as expected,” He tweeted.

    “Pochettino has accepted all conditions of the long-term deal [with Chelsea]— it [the deal] will be signed and completed soon after negotiations very advanced since April.”

    Pochettino has coached the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur in the past.

    The Argentine is expected to coach Chelsea next season.

    Meanwhile, Chelsea recently sacked manager Graham Potter and appointed Frank Lampard as caretaker manager to lead the first team until the end of the current 2022/23 season.

    Chelsea played out a 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.

    EPL: I made a mistake by sacking Tuchel – Boehly

    Chelsea co- owner, Todd Boehly has admitted that he made a mistake to have sacked Thomas Tuchel last September.

    Recall that Tuchel was fired after only a few games this season by the co-ownership tenure of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.

    Former Brighton coach, Graham Potter was brought in to replace Tuchel.

    Potter has since been dismissed too after spending just seven months at the helm of affairs.

    Although the relationship with Tuchel was never going to work long term, in retrospect, it is accepted that it might have been better to retain the German coach for a season for a more orderly transition.

    The Americans also harbour a feeling that they overcompensated in appointing Potter because he was so adept at working with the executives and owners.

    However, Chelsea problem persist despite sacking Potter and replacing him with former manager, Frank Lampard.

    Speculations are rife that Mauricio Pochettino will be given the mantle to lead Chelsea come next season in the English Premier League.

    Chelsea are currently occupying the 11th position with 43 points accumulated on the EPL log with just two games remaining to the end of the season.

    The Blues have managed to win one, draw one and lose six in their last eight games in the EPL.

    EPL: Nottingham Forest coach, Cooper heaps praises on Awoniyi

    Nottingham Forest head coach. Steve Cooper has heaped praises on Nigerian forward,  Taiwo Awoniyi for his superb display and the two goals he grabbed against Chelsea.

    Awoniyi’s two goals helped Nottingham stay afloat relegation zone in the English Premier League game at Stamford Bridge.

    It was the first time the Nigeria international will be scoring back-to-back braces in his professional career having scored twice in Forest’s 4-3 victory against Southampton last Monday.

    The forward got the first from a header on 13 minutes following a howler from Chelsea goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy.

    Awoniyi then equalised for the visitors on 62 minutes with another decent strike.

    “He (Awoniyi) scored with his head as well which we were very pleased with that. We talked about it and there was a chance at Brentford that we thought he could have done better with, so it was good that he got the two goals. Especially the first one, I think he showed good bravery,” Cooper told Premier League Productions.

    Taiwo Awoniyi has scored two back to back goals for Nottingham Forest to increase his tally to eight and one assist in the EPL.
