“They [Mendy and Kante] are not available,” Potter said at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

“They are absolutely fine in terms of coming through the rehab stages. NG has been on the grass with the team but not really full training.

“Edou is a bit further on but hasn’t had enough to be involved at the weekend. Maybe next week for him.”

He added, “We’ve got a bit of illness with Marc Cucurella and Carney. Apart from that, everybody is fit.”

The German international left Chelsea for Madrid this summer as a free agent

It brought an end to five seasons at Stamford Bridge where he won the Champions League, FA Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup.

And now the 29-year-old has revealed he deliberately caused chaos by producing errors on the pitch to stir Chelsea fans when he felt they were too quiet during matches.

“I’ll be honest: I deliberately made a few mistakes because it was just too quiet in the stadium for me during this game,” Rudiger told German outlet Sport1.

“I wanted to wake people up with it.”

Antonio Rüdiger is a German professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for La Liga club Real Madrid and the Germany national team.

UCL: Potter’s first match in charge of Chelsea ends in a draw

Chelsea manager Graham Potter’s first game in charge of Chelsea has ended on a shaky note, after the club was held to a 1-1 draw by Salzburg of Austria.

Potter’s side had already gone ahead in the game with Raheem Sterling’s goal before Austrian Midfielder of Nigerian descent Noah Arinzechukwu Okafor equalized for Salzburg to secure a point for his Austrian side.

It was a largely underwhelming performance from Chelsea, underlining the work Potter must do to repair the flaws in the expensively assembled squad left behind by Tuchel.

Tuchel was dismissed last Wednesday in the aftermath of Chelsea’s embarrassing 1-0 loss at Dinamo Zagreb in their Champions League opener.

Liverpool and Manchester City are the only English Premier League Sides that won their match day two UEFA champions League games, Tottenham and Chelsea lost and drew respectively.

EPL: Chelsea coach, Tuchel speaks on Mendy’s poor form

Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel has lent his voice to the club’s number one goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy’s poor form in recent times, saying things not going his way for now.

Chelsea put up an unimpressive performance against West Ham on Saturday but escaped with a win after Cornet’s equalizer was chalked off in the dying minute of the match.

Mendy’s tame punch led to Michail Antonio’s first goal for the Hammers. The Senegalese was offered a huge reprieve late on in the game as Maxwell Cornet’s equalizer was controversially disallowed as VAR cited a foul by Jarrod Bowen.

Mendy helped Chelsea win the Champions League in 2021 and followed that up with the Africa Cup of Nations with his country, but his performances have dipped since then.

However, Tuchel has promised to help the goalkeeper regain confidence as the league progresses.

“I think at the moment he [Mendy] is a bit unlucky in what he is doing,” Tuchel told reporters after the game.

“In training, he is fantastic, and he is, in general, a very calm and self-reflective guy who is aware that he lacks a little bit of luck at the moment

“Things do not go in his favour. If he has, maybe a situation where his action isn’t 100% clear, he gets punished for it massively.

“He is just in this moment, and it feels like it’s not so much his fault. I have the feeling because he tries everything, he is very calm and focused. We will keep on supporting him.”

Chelsea legend, Jason Cundy expresses shock over club’s unimpressive showings

Chelsea legendary player, Jason Cundy has expressed shock at the club’s performance this season following a 2-1 loss to Southampton on Tuesday night.

Cundy posited that  his former club are currently in a hole following another the Tuesday night defeat at Saint Mary’s.

The Blues suffered their second away successive defeat in Premier League in the South Coast and Cundy feels Thomas Tuchel’s side must react by bringing in new players.

Raheem Sterling opened the scoring with his third goal for the Blues. But goals from Romeo Lavia and Adam Armstrong saw the hosts come from behind to win 2-1.

All the goals were scored in the first half of the encounter.

Cundy told The Sports Bar: “Right now the transfer window is still open and there’s a lot of knee-jerk reaction about who is going to do what this season and right now, I feel a bit beat.

“Right now, we’re not good enough. There’s no getting away from it but you look at some of the players who started tonight.

“If everyone is fit and everyone is playing, then some of the players who started tonight would be starting.

“We [Chelsea] are in a hole and I look at the performance and see that there’s cause for concern.”

EPL: Chelsea owner, Boehly set to terminate Barkley’s contract

Chelsea owner, Todd Boehly has decided to buy off Ross Barkley’s contract to see him off the club this summer.

The attacking midfielder hasn’t featured for the Blues this season.

The 28-year-old, who moved to Stamford Bridge from Everton in 2018 for £15m, has failed to make a significant impact, scoring 12 goals across 100 games.

Barkley was on loan at Aston Villa last season, but he returned to Chelsea last term and only made 14 appearances across all competitions.

Everton’s young winger, Anthony Gordon is set to join Chelsea, and the plan to buy Barkley’s contract is to free up space to accommodate Gordon.

Barkley, who took part in Chelsea’s pre-season tour last month, has a year remaining on his current deal and his reported salary is £200k a week.

  • EPL: Chelsea set to lure Wilfred Zaha from Crystal Palace

EPL: Chelsea set to lure Wilfred Zaha from Crystal Palace

Chelsea FC have considered a late move for Crystal Palace winger, Wilfred Zaha.

Recall that Chelsea lost Lukaku and Timo Werner to Inter Milan and Leipzig respectively and are now in need of forwards.

Meanwhile, coach Thomas Tuchel is eager to bolster his attacking line ahead of the transfer deadline on September 1st, 2022.

All efforts to sign Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Spanish side Barcelona have proven abortive.

With time running out before the close of the deadline, Tuchel is now keen to lure Zaha to Stamford Bridge.

Crystal Palace have so far resisted selling the Ivory Coast international to a Premier League rival, previously placing an £80milllion price tag on the 29-year-old.

However, as Zaha now has less than one year left on his contract, Palace may decide to cash in on the winger now rather than allow him to depart on a free transfer next summer.

“We had Carlos Kameni. We also had Vincent Enyeama.

“In several countries, we were lucky to have a lot of good goalkeepers. It is, therefore, very difficult to name just one,” Mendy said in an interview with Carré, a Cameroon Magazine.

Conte vs Tuchel: Tottenham’s coach states reasons for altercation

Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel, has stated reasons he had an altercation with Antonio Conte his counterpart at Tottenham Hotspur after both teams ended in a  2-2 stalemate.

The two men almost went physical after Emile Hojbjerg equalized for Spurs, canceling out Kalidou Koulibaly’s opener.

After the game, Tuchel held onto Conte’s hand firmly and muttered swear words, with both managers needing to be separated.

Tuchel has now claimed he wanted the Italian to look into his eyes as they shook hands.

“He was happy when they equalized and it got a bit heated but nothing big. We both got a red card? It wasn’t necessary. But a lot of things were not necessary. Another poor decision from the referee today.

“It’s emotional. It’s the Premier League, it’s the game. You love it, no? We love it. We are emotional coaches,” Tuchel said.

Meanwhile, Conte on his part wrote on Instagram that he would have tripped Tuchel

His post reads  “Lucky I didn’t see you… Making your trip over would have been well deserved.”
