The attacking midfielder is having an outstanding season since joining the club from Manchester City.

Palmer is top of the goalscoring and assists charts for the club this term.

Pochettino stated in a press conference on how he can improve further: “To absorb the pressure of playing in the Premier League consistently. We were talking to the coaching staff, it’s about the demand in his private life.

“Maybe he needs to pay attention in different things than before he didn’t pay attention. We need to be careful. We have experience of course to manage this kind of thing with a young kid to become a bigger star.”

As they prepare to face Manchester City in the FA Cup semi final, Pochettino added: “He already played twice [vs Man City]. He is very grateful with Man City, with Pep Guardiola, he always talks very highly about them. He’s not this type of player to have something inside.

“He understood perfectly that maybe for different reasons he wanted to prove himself at another club. Thank you to Manchester City for giving the opportunity for him to move to another club.”

On Palmer’s quality, he finished: “That is a consequence of his shots and his teammates who pass him the ball in the right moment.

“Honestly, always we never judged the players when we signed the players but it is true he is performing in a very good way. His first consistent season playing, also we need to be careful because he is young and he is growing and level up in different areas, his game.”
