EPL: Happy to have Sterling at Arsenal – Havertz

Arsenal star Kai Havertz is convinced of big things from Raheem Sterling at the North London club.

The Chelsea loanee moved to the Gunners on transfer deadline day over a fortnight ago.

Havertz played with Sterling at Chelsea before his departure for the Gunners and he told Stadium Astro: “It’s incredible.

“I had the joy to play with him   at Chelsea. He’s an incredible player. If you see his stats in the Premier League, it’s outstanding.

“You see how much quality he brings to the team and I think we are all very happy to have him.”

  • I regret not leaving Chelsea as a teen – Loftus-Cheek

I regret not leaving Chelsea as a teen – Loftus-Cheek

AC Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek admits he should’ve left Chelsea sooner.

Loftus-Cheek is in his second season with Milan and says he regrets not leaving Chelsea as a teenager.

He told The Times: “I think if you’re a youngster, seven or eight years old, and you’ve signed with Chelsea, fantastic.

“Because it’s a great academy and you’ll learn how to play football, you’ll develop your skills there and a great coach is coaching you.

“But it gets to a point, maybe at 15, 16, where you’re getting to that stage where it’s youth-team football.

“And you might want to start thinking about going and playing somewhere else. Because it’s very difficult now to just go straight through.

“The best way to develop is by playing games and playing men’s football.

“And it’s easier to do that somewhere else at a lower club. And I feel like that’s what I missed out on, I think.”

  • ‘Osimhem only wants to get what he deserves’ – Mikel on failed Chelsea move

‘Osimhem only wants to get what he deserves’ – Mikel on failed Chelsea move

Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel admitted that Victor Osimhen nearly joined the club.

The Nigeria and now Galatasaray forward had to leave parent club Napoli on loan before the transfer window closed.

A mooted permanent transfer to Chelsea did not come to pass, as the club balked at the fees involved.

Speaking on the Obi One Podcast, Mikel said: “I hear a lot of people saying this and saying that about Victor and and how greedy he is, blah, blah, blah. ‘Take a pay cut and come to Chelsea’ blah, blah, blah, stuff like that.

“I know the kid. I know the boy. I just want to say that that is absolutely not true.

“Victor is not a greedy boy. He’s not a greedy guy, he only wants to get what he deserves and that’s not a problem.”

  • “What is he there for” – Petit slams Sancho move to Chelsea

“What is he there for” – Petit slams Sancho move to Chelsea

Former French footballer Emmanuel Petit has slammed the move for Jadon Sancho.

Sancho has arrived on-loan from Manchester United.

“When I saw they had signed Jadon Sancho on Deadline Day, I wondered if there was even any shirt numbers left for him,” he told BetVictor and Football.London.

“Imagine him opening the door to the dressing room and seeing so many players they don’t all fit in the same dressing room! At the training ground they must have two dressing rooms, three pitches and 12 physios.

“The club are not the only ones responsible for the situation. It also comes down to the players. How can Sancho bring himself to sign for Chelsea after what happened at Manchester United? He was loaned to Borussia Dortmund, then went back to United, and now he’s off to Chelsea who have 40 or so players and he is just one of them.”

Petit continued: “Hasn’t he had enough of moving around clubs, losing his way on the pitch and losing his confidence? Now he’s at a club that has no consistency, lacking in confidence and results. If he’s not there for the money, what is he there for?”

  • Tension as Eghbali seeks to buy Boehly out of Chelsea

Tension as Eghbali seeks to buy Boehly out of Chelsea

Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have fallen out.

Bloomberg says tensions are so high that both Boehly and Eghbali’s ClearLake Capital have explored buying eachother out.

It’s suggested disagreements over transfer policy and the team’s performance has seen the two men at odds over Chelsea’s direction.

For Eghbali, there are no plans to sell-up, however, and instead he would be open to increasing his stake by buying out Boehly.

Clearlake owns more than 60 per cent of the club with Boehly, US businessman Mark Walter and Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss holding the remainder.

  • Cole Palmer absent in Chelsea Euro squad

Cole Palmer absent in Chelsea Euro squad

Chelsea stars Cole Palmer and Ben Chilwell will not be playing in the Conference League.

The duo have been removed from the club’s 25 man squad for the competition.

Palmer, midfielder Romeo Lavia and defender Wesley Fofana are all absent.

While Chilwell is out because he is not in manager Enzo Maresca’s plans, the other absences are unusual.

Per the BBC and other sources, Chelsea are keeping certain players out of the squad as they do not want to play them in every game this season.

The likes of Palmer and Lavia will be Premier League starters, but will give way in midweek.

  • Chelsea still interested in Osimhen despite Galatasaray loan

Chelsea still interested in Osimhen despite Galatasaray loan

Chelsea are still big admirers of Victor Osimhen and may want to sign him in the winter or next summer.

That is the view of transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, who has spoken about the attacker’s situation.

Osimhen is on loan at Galatasaray, but the deal can be cut short in the winter if necessary.

The forward is still a Napoli player, but is said to have no future at that club given a breakdown in relationship with the ownership.

Osimhen does have a release clause of around £70M, which Chelsea may find reasonable.

However, at the age of 25, a move to Turkey may be seen as a backwards career move and may hurt his stock moving forward.

Maresca admits lack of striker after Chelsea draw against Palace

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca would not be drawn on transfer speculation.

The Blues were held to a draw in the Premier League at home against Crystal Palace.

When asked if he was frustrated at not signing a striker, Maresca remained calm.

He told reporters: “We want players but we want players that we decide and then the condition has to be our condition. So if the players are not here, then that means the conditions were not good for us.”

He then added on the January window: “Yeah, we’ll see now, from here to January. I don’t know how many games we have, but I’ve told you many times I like to focus on the next days. So we will see in January.

“I feel sorry for the players because when you finish the game, you can see the frustrations from the players. But in the way we play today, we are going to win games.”

In a succinct message to social media, Sancho posted:  “Thank you to all the fans, staff and teammates. Wishing everyone all the best in the future.”

In contrast, Sancho posted a six paragraph farewell to Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season.

EPL: Chelsea held as Liverpool beat Man United 3-0

Chelsea played out a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace at home while Liverpool beat Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday. Liverpool capitalised on errors made by Casemiro to shred United 3-0.

Liverpool were denied an early goal by VAR in the sixth minute from Trent Alexander-Arnold as Mohamed Salah got a touch while offside.

Luis Diaz went on to score Liverpool’s first goal of the rout in the 35th minute of play before doubling the lead with a brace in the 42nd minute of play.

Salah sealed the win, scoring the third goal for Liverpool in the 56th minute of play. The win ensures that Arne Slot’s 100 percent record start in the Premier League remained intact.

Meanwhile, Nicolas Jackson scored the goal for Chelsea in the 1-1 draw against Palace. Eberechi Eze scored Crystal Palace’s goal.
