SAD! Chinese man stabs Nigerian girlfriend to death in Kano

    …as mother narrates ordeal

Tragedy struck last night in Kano when a Chinese national simply identified as Mr Geng fought his way into the home of his ex-girlfriend, and then stabbed her to death, eye witnesses say.

The ex-girlfriend, Ummukulsum Buhari was a resident of Janbulo area of Kano metropolis.

According to reports, Geng, had been dating Ummukulsum for years before she dumped him to marry a Nigerian suitor.

The deceased’s mom said that Geng came to their house and knocked at the door frantically around 8pm, and later forced himself into the house around 9pm.

Once inside the house, the Chinese national pushed his way through into the room of Ummukulsum and stabbed her to death.

“When we got tired of his knocking, I went out to tell him to keep off our house, but he pushed and went straight into her room and killed her,” the mother said.

“We then began shouting and neighbours came to our rescue and apprehended him.

“She was immediately taken to hospital where she was later certified dead.”

Geng has been dating Ummukulsum for years before she dumped him to marry a Nigerian suitor.

Her marriage crashed recently after her husband discovered her chats with Geng in her phone and suspected they were still dating.

After the divorce, Geng returned again, but Ms Buhari rejected his overtures.

Meanwhile, bereaved mother of Ummakulsum Sani Buhari, the 23-year-old Nigerian who was killed by her Chinese lover, has broken her silence.

The deceased, who was popularly known as ‘Ummita’ attended Kano School of Nursing and Midwifery.

She was buried around 10am on Saturday, according to Islamic rites.

Speaking on the unfortunate incident, the bereaved mother said, “She was my daughter; he (the Chinese man) always comes around wanting to see her and she has been refusing. This time around when he came, he kept knocking on the door. When I was fed up of him hitting the door loudly, I opened the door and he pushed me aside and got in and started stabbing her with a knife.

“I started shouting and people came running. We rushed her to the hospital but before we arrived, she was dead. It happened around 9.30pm. We were at home with her two younger sisters when it happened. Her brother was out and her father is dead. It was raining then, people were indoors and couldn’t hear me shouting until when someone came and tried going in through the window.

“I want the authorities to see to this criminal act. It was long since their love affair ended. She got married and later got divorced. That was when he came back to her life, pressing that he must see her. He used to come in although we don’t like it but he doesn’t understand. We used to chase him out. When I attempted informing the police, my children would refuse and say let’s not take the matter public.

“The man that came to her aid and went through the window; he was the one who caught him and brought him out. He ran off and they chased him and brought him back. He is now with the police. She was my eldest daughter but she has two elder brothers.

“He understands that she doesn’t want to see him. When he calls, she doesn’t pick up. That’s when he decided to invade. He knocked at the door for almost an hour. She was the one who asked me to go and send him away after which he pushed me away upon opening the gate.

“He went straight to her room. He knows where the room is because he used to come in. In most cases, it’s her brother that used to send him away. They first met at Shoprite when she went to buy perfume and they exchanged phone numbers. That’s how they started making out on calls.

“When she got married, they separated until when she was divorced. Her husband suspects they were chatting with him on phone although that was not what led to the failure of her marriage. Of course, she told him that she was going to marry him, but because her paternal uncles saw issues coming, they refused and I agreed with them,” she concluded.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Kano, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the incident and promised to provide more information later.

Ghana’s galamsey mining kingpin, Huang risks 24 months imprisonment

Ghana’s illegal mining Galamsey kingpin of Chinese nationality, En Huang, aka Aisha Huang, is on the verge of a 24 months imprisonment.

Huang who was deported four years ago but sneaked back into the country,  is accused of embarking on mining without a license.

Aisha was deported in 2018 when the State filed a nolle prosequi (an application to halt a trial) after standing trial over illegal mining activities.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that she is likely to face 24 months imprisonment, if found guilty of breaching the Ghana Immigration Service laws.

It was gathered that deportation in Ghana is carried out by the Minister of the Interior and through Court orders.

They could be canceled, revoked, or rescinded after the process of deportation has been challenged in court.

Galamsey mining kingpin, Huang risks 24 months imprisonment for breaching Ghana's Immigration laws

Huang, according to security sources, re-entered Ghana through Togo after changing some details on her passport.

Sources said the service was currently building a case to “clarify” her mode of entry into the country.

On September 6, 2022, the Office of the Attorney-General in a tweet said: “The Attorney-General has called for the new docket on En Huang, aka Aisha regarding offences she is suspected to have committed.”

“The AG-will also re-initiate prosecution in respect of the old offences for which she was standing trial before her deportation in 2018.”

Huang was arraigned last Friday and remanded into lawful custody for engaging in mining without a license.

It was gathered that she engaged in illegal mining at Bepotenten in the Amansie West, Ashanti Region.

Her alleged accomplices were put before the same court for also engaging in the sale and purchase of minerals without a license.

Meanwhile, the former Convener for the Media Coalition Against Galamsey, MCAG, Dr Kenneth Ashigbey,  has described the return of ‘galamsey Kingpin’ Aisha Huang in the mining space as leadership failure in the fight against ‘galamsey’.

In his words: “I said that day, that this woman that has been left off the hook was going to go and come back, and it is not surprising that she did.

This was somebody with serious connections,” he said during an interview at the launch of the 8th edition of Flamingo Awards.

“We really need to get leadership up and doing and say that this thing about galamsey must stop.

“We need the executive to act but when we define leadership, we should not restrict it to the President and Minister in Accra”.

Before the filing of a Nolle Prosequi in 2018 that led to her release and subsequent deportation, Aisha and her compatriots were on May 9, 2017, arraigned before court for engaging in illegal small-scale mining at Bepotenten in the Amansie Central District in the Ashanti Region.

She was charged with three counts of undertaking small-scale mining operations, providing mining support services without valid registration with the Minerals Commission and the illegal employment of foreign nationals.

These were contrary to Section 99 (1) of the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703); the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703), and the Immigration Act, 2000 (Act 573).

The other four accused persons were charged with disobedience of directives given by or under the Immigration Act, 2000 (Act 573).

Upon her rearrest for illegally entering the country and mining without a license, the 47-year-old ‘galamsey kingpin’ was remanded into lawful custody by an Accra Circuit Court last Friday after the court preserved her plea because there was no Chinese interpreter.

She is facing a charge of mining without a license and engaging in the sale and purchase of minerals without a valid license.

Her accomplices; John Li Hua, Huang Jei and Huaid Hai Hun, have been charged with engaging in the sale and purchase of minerals without a license.

The three have denied the charge, remanded into lawful custody and expected to reappear on September 14.
