Just In: Catholic Diocese confirms Mbaka in seclusion, still in charge of Adoration Ministry

    …says he’s on a brief solitude

Despite speculations in the social media networks that Rev. Fr. Ejike has been removed, the authorities of the Enugu Catholic Diocese have clarified that he was not removed as Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry, as the spiritual director as widely reported.

The Diocese, which expressed love for Mbaka as an illustrious son, said Mbaka was only asked to take time away in solitude to listen to what the Spirit of God has to tell him.

Responding to an inquiry, spokesman and Director of Communications, Enugu Diocese, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Achi, said Mbaka would return to continue his duties.

The interview titled ‘Mbaka: the true position’ reads: “Going by an interview with the Director of Communications, Enugu Diocese, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Achi, Very Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka was not removed from the Adoration Ministry, as many reports are suggesting.

“Rather, according to Fr. Achi, since it was recommended that Fr. Mbaka takes time away in solitude, in order to listen to what the Spirit of God has to tell him, he was allowed to propose a priest to administer, in the interim, to the faithful at the Adoration Ministry.

“With the approval of his Bishop, on Sunday, 2 October 2022, Fr. Mbaka introduced Fr. Anthony Amadi to the worshippers.

“Unfortunately, some people were still not pleased, and would prefer that Fr. Mbaka remains.

“What every true Christian, and especially every true Catholic, should do at this moment is to commit our dear brother and priest, Fr. Mbaka, to God in prayer so that he may, through this moment, encounter God specially, come out stronger and better in recognizing His will for him and gain more graces to channel those rare gifts for His glory and for the sanctification of the people of God and society at large.

“The Church loves Fr. Mbaka and cherishes him as an illustrious son.

”May our Mother Mary, the Queen of all Apostles, intercede for him. Amen”.

  • Pope holds two days closed-door meetings with cardinals over future direction of church

Pope holds two days closed-door meetings with cardinals over future direction of church

Following concern about the future direction of the church, the head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State, Pope Francis, Tuesday, wrapped up two days of closed-door meetings with about 180 cardinals.

The closed-door meetings were with many cardinals young enough to elect a future pontiff.

Among the issues discussed at the meeting was how the Catholic Church’s governance could be made more inclusive.

    Pope Francis

The sessions focused on a new Apostolic constitution that, among other things, allows lay people to head important Vatican offices, envisioning greater decision-making roles for them, including women.

But since the church has closed the door to women in the priesthood, the most prestigious, and ultimately most powerful roles, including that of a pontiff, remain in the realm of men.

The reforms also lend more institutional weight to efforts to fight clerical sex abuse. The document, made public earlier this year, replaced the constitution written by St. John Paul II in 1988.

Francis on Saturday raised 20 churchmen to the rank of cardinal, including 16 younger than 80 and thus eligible to vote in a conclave to elect his successor, when the time comes.

Until Pope Benedict XVI resigned in 2013, the first pontiff in almost 600 years to do so, conclaves in recent centuries had followed the death of popes. Francis, who is 85, has said that resignation can be a valid option for pontiffs who can’t adequately fulfill their role as leaders of the world’s more than 1.3 billion Catholics.

But he has brushed off talk that he is contemplating stepping down soon despite health problems, including a bad knee that necessitates frequent wheelchair use.

In his homily at a Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica to close out the meetings, Francis offered no details about this week’s discussions. But he urged the cardinals, known as the “princes of the church,” to be on guard against the “cancer, the woodworm, of worldly spirituality.”

While in Rome these days, cardinals from around the world could size each other up. Encounters, including informal ones, allow them to see who might have the potential to become a future pope as well as to ponder possible alliances among geographical groupings or among like-minded churchmen from more conservative or more progressive factions.

The Vatican said the themes discussed were the role of lay persons, financial transparency, the managerial structure of the Vatican bureaucracy, and how to “announce the Gospel in an epoch like the current one.”

Francis has worked to reform the Holy See’s finances, including its multimillion-dollar investments, one of which is at the heart of a trial underway at the Holy See and involving, among others, a Vatican cardinal.

Francis has tried to make the church more inviting to those who might feel unwelcome, including LGBTQ Catholics, or undervalued, including women.

On Monday, a half-dozen female activists protested as cardinals, with their iconic red headgear, flocked to the meeting on Vatican grounds. The women held up red parasols with slogans reading, “Sexism is a Cardinal Sin.” Other slogans were: “It’s reigning men” and “Ordain Women.”

One protester, Miriam Duignan, lamented that the cardinals were “going to talk about the future of the church without half of the church.”

Couple filmed making love on church’s altar

A viral video reportedly recorded by vigilant community people, of a couple making love on the altar of a local church, has caused a reaction on social media.

In the viral video, the couple was filmed making love when community people unexpectedly barged in on them.

They had been filmed secretly and they tried to cover their na*edness from the camera after they were noticed.

Well-meaning persons apprehended them for the ‘abomination’ they had committed at the altar in a church, without any fear for God, or the church’s elders.

Since the release of the video of the couple filmed making love on Facebook, netizens have reacted angrily to it.

    @Fatima wrote:
“What kind of spirit is this. Inside an open church. God have mercy”.

    Abdul added:
“God will not forgive this abomination. They will be punished and will suffer. This is a curse “.

    @Felix Nani commented:
“Not just in the church. On the altar”.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that three months ago, a picture went viral after two persons were seen laying on each other on a church altar in front of a congregation who stretched their hands towards them.

It was gathered that the pair have been trying for a child for ten years without success and when they went to the church for help, the minister asked them to make love on the altar, in the presence of members.

The photo caused outrage, with many giving their opinion on the matter.

However, the church, located in Brazil, denied the news that made rounds on the internet.

67 babies delivered at Redemption City- Pastor Adeboye reveals

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has revealed that 67 babies (41 boys and 26 girls) were delivered at Redemption City during the one-week programme as of Saturday morning.

The octogenarian preacher stated this on Saturday during the Holy Ghost Service of the 70th Annual Convention of the church which was held at RCCG International Headquarters situated along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The programme, with the theme, “Perfect Jubilee,” began on Monday, August 8 and will end on Sunday, August 14, 2022.

While noting that he would have had 12 biological children, Adeboye said he could not have himself biologically, he had through thousands of his church members whom he tagged his “spiritual children”.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that when Adeboye asked church members who had their babies in the last one year to come out, a large number of parents danced forward with their babies to the altar areas both in the new and old auditoriums of the church.

The former Mathematics lecturer at the University of Lagos and University of Ilorin said the RCCG is “a mission where God multiplies and very soon, there will be nothing called barrenness in our midst”.

“See the homes where there used to be sorrow but now there is joy. I love children because my father in heaven loves them. If I had my way, I would have had 12 of my own but what I couldn’t have biologically, I can now have,” Adeboye said as he received the women and their babies.

He added that God asked him to name what he wanted for this year’s convention of the church and he asked for babies. He said God promised him 110,000 babies for waiting couples.

While speaking on the influx of worshippers at this year’s convention, Adeboye said the church would build more dormitories before next year to accommodate the overflow.

UK closes Nigerian-owned church over financial impropriety

A United Kingdom High Court has ordered the closure of Salvation Proclaimer Ministries Limited, a church led by Nigeria-born Tobi Adegboyega, over alleged financial mismanagement and lack of transparency in its operations.

In a statement published to the UK government website on Friday, the church, popularly known as SPAC Nation, was said to have been closed “in the public interest.”

The church, according to the statement, was wound up “after failing to properly account for more than £1.87 million of outgoings and operating with a lack of transparency” in the High Court on June 9, 2022 before Judge Burton.

The statement partly read, “Salvation Proclaimer Ministries Limited, more commonly known as SPAC Nation, was wound up in the public interest in the High Court on 9 June 2022 before Judge Burton. The Official Receiver has been appointed as liquidator of the company.

“The court heard that SPAC Nation was incorporated in 2012, a charity set up to advance Christianity. Much of its charitable work was based in London, working particularly with vulnerable people, youth, and offenders.”

While noting that SPAC Nation, which was incorporated on 10 September 2012, initially had positive reviews and media attention, the statement said the church “was subject to media scrutiny following allegations by former church members they had been financially exploited by senior church personnel” by late 2019.

The statement further said the church failed to comply with statutory requirements and made claims without providing supporting information.

It stated, “Investigators interviewed one of the company’s directors, Adedapo Olugbenga Adegboyega, who was also known as Dapo Adegboyega or Pastor Dapo. During interviews, Mr Adegboyega said that the church group had over 2,000 members and 200 ordained ministers and pastors but failed to provide any supporting information.

He inquired as to whether or not they are hired assassins, given their intent to ‘kill’.

Meanwhile, Bamiloye shared his thoughts on the importance of living a righteous life.

“You can not continue to live in unrighteousness in your office or campus and still be expecting or praying to receive His Miracles.

“You can not be living an immoral life and still be praying and fasting for His Wonders of Open Doors in your life. You are breaking His Word, you are not doing what He says to you.

“Deuteronomy 28:13: And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them.

“There are no other ABC formulae of divine Promotion. The only formulae is learning to live by His commandment for your life. Learning to hear His voice and obey whatever He says concerning your daily life. It makes you to walk daily in atmosphere of miracles.

“Blessings and favors come after you and hover over you. Goodness and kindness walk around you wherever you are. It makes you to know the mind of God in your ministry all the time,” he wrote.
