  • Lagos seals club for traffic regulations violation

Lagos seals club for traffic regulations violation

The Lagos State Government has sealed the premises of Vaniti Club House over protracted and deliberate infractions of the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.

The General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, said this in a statement made available on Monday in Lagos.

Bakare-Oki said the move was an assertion of its steadfast dedication to preserving public order and ensuring the seamless mobility of persons and vehicles within the metropolis.

He said the enforcement action carried out at the club house located on Adeola Odeku Street, Victoria Island, was meticulously executed by the Agency’s Rescue and Compliance Unit.

“This was done due to the club’s habitual and defiant infringement of established traffic laws particularly its persistent facilitation of illegal roadside parking and flagrant encroachment upon public highways.

“These actions have not only disrupted traffic flow but have posed substantial risks to public safety.

“The Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018, unequivocally proscribes any acts that obstruct vehicular movement or imperil the safety of road users, categorising such conduct as a grievous statutory offence liable to punitive legal sanctions,” he said.

He said despite a series of exhaustive sensitisation efforts including sustained public enlightenment campaigns, direct stakeholders engagements, and multiple official warnings the management of Verniti Club House had remained intransigent.

He added that they choose to perpetuate acts that undermine the operational integrity of the state’s traffic ecosystem, particularly within the high-traffic corridor of Victoria Island.

“Consequently, the state government has invoked its full regulatory powers to seal the premises indefinitely.

“This directive shall remain in effect until the establishment unequivocally demonstrates total and verifiable compliance with all extant traffic laws and ancillary regulatory frameworks.

“This enforcement initiative is not a one-off occurrence. It marks the beginning of a broader and sustained compliance campaign.

“We are actively monitoring other clubs, event centres, lounges, and recreational facilities particularly those that persist in impeding traffic flow by commandeering public roads and adjoining streets for private use,” he said.

He said the Lagos State Government, via LASTMA, reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward any person, corporate body, or social enterprise that constituted an impediment to traffic orderliness or endangers the commuting public.

“We have seen a pattern; the gang was responsible for a similar incident where the victim’s body was dismembered about two weeks ago in Ihiala.

“We have an idea of the axis they are operating from, we are going to crack them down, no arrest has been made and investigation is ongoing

“Oba has always been a flashpoint because of the thriving nightlife, lots of hotels, and strategically located, so we intend to deploy additional assets and personnel to that axis, especially this yuletide, to make sure criminals do not make life miserable for people,” he said.

‘’The decay in values is not strange to the people but unfortunately, we have to live with the consequences, this is one of the reasons why the public enlightenment agencies were created.

“Community leaders, religious leaders should step up the campaign against immorality, unnecessary show of affluence, and criminality.

“Investigation has shown that most of the money you see on display in night clubs are not legitimately earned, most are proceeds of crime, so we all have work to do, a law enforcement agency, we will continue to do our part.’’

Mr Chidozie Nwangu, a native doctor known as ‘Akwa okuko tiwara aki’ was kidnapped in his hotel room in Oba in July in a similar attack which resulted in the killing of two security guards.

  • Two Man Utd wingers to leave club today

Two Man Utd wingers to leave club today

Wingers Anthony Elanga and Facundo Pellistri could both be leaving Manchester United today.

The Daily Mail says Erik ten Hag has been considering whether to send both Swedish forward Elanga and Uruguayan winger Pellistri out on loan to increase their game time.

United’s head decision-makers will meet on Tuesday to determine both Elanga and Pellistri’s immediate futures and whether they will be allowed to leave the club.

Elanga is keen to leave Old Trafford after finding himself a peripheral figure under Ten Hag following his breakthrough season under Ralf Rangnick.

PSV Eindhoven, Borussia Dortmund, and five Premier League clubs – including struggling Everton – are keen to sign him.

Uruguayan Pellistri finds himself in a similar situation and might be granted a loan move on deadline day despite Ten Hag previously stating his desire to keep the youth prospect at the club.

  • Ronaldo Transfer News- ILOT BET

    Ronaldo Transfer News- ILOT BET

Christiano Ronaldo has few options to choose from after his contract ends with Manchester United. The 37 year old Portuguese player joined Manchester united in 2003 from sporting Lisbon for 12.24 million euro as a teenager at that time. Manchester united was his first ever English club to ever play for. He won three premier league titles and a champions’ league trophy during his first spell at old Trafford and he also won his first ballon d’Or while he was playing for Manchester united. Ronaldo left Manchester united on the 11th of June 2009 without leaving any indication that he was about to make that move. It was known when Manchester United announced he had “expressed his desire to leave” and that Real Madrid’s world record £80m offer had been accepted. Less than three weeks later, the transfer was concluded.

After he left Manchester united, Ronaldo played for Real Madrid from 2009 up till 2018. Then he joined Juventus where he played from 2018 till 2021. Ronaldo joined Man United from Juventus in the 2021 summer transfer window on August 27 for £12.85 million. The Portuguese was given the number 7 shirt as Edinson Cavani agreed to switch to 21. Ronaldo made his second debut against Newcastle and scored the opening two goals as the Red Devils won 4-1. As of October 2021, Ronaldo surpassed the $1billion mark for career earnings. Ronaldo is said to have a net worth of $500m. According to reports, the 37-year-old football star is reportedly earning £480,000-a-week at United since his return to the Premier League.

Christiano Ronaldo has shown interest to leave Manchester united, but he is currently running out of time and options after 2 clubs pulled out of the race to sign the Portuguese superstar. So many clubs around the world would want to have Ronaldo in their ranks but only some of these teams will be able to match both Ronaldo’s ambition and sky high wages.

The team of professionals at ILOT BET strongly believe Chelsea is one of the clubs everyone is expecting Ronaldo to sign with after news emerged last month that Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes met with Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly and the pair discussed the Portuguese’ potential transfer during their meeting. Despite that, it seems the chance for Ronaldo to move to Stamford Bridge is very slim, manager Thomas Tuchel is believed to not be too interested in the idea of Ronaldo joining the Blues, and with a deal for the Manchester united winger Raheem sterling, it seems like Ronaldo may not be signing with Chelsea.

Added to the frustrations surrounding the lack of signings, report claims Ronaldo has been left ‘unfulfilled’ by the reduction of player salaries [25%] as a result of their failure to play in the Champions League football. When he penned a deal at Old Trafford, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner agreed a £480,000-a-week contract with the club but this season, he would be set to earn a salary of £360,000 as united play in the Europa League. Ronaldo believes he has ‘three or four years’ left at the highest level, but some still believe he will remain in Manchester united.

  • Salah becomes 10th man to reach 150 goals in Liverpool

Salah becomes 10th man to reach 150 goals in Liverpool

Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah, has become the 10th man to reach 150 goals in the club’s history and the second-fastest (232 matches) after Roger Hunt (226).

Salah, who has scored 25 in 30 appearances this season including 17 in 23 Premier League matches, expressed his pride after scoring his 150th goal for the club in a 3-1 comeback win over Norwich which maintained the momentum in their title challenge.

“It feels great. I’m always proud to score for this club and the most important thing is to win games which is what we did today. What we can do is focus on each game and that is the most important thing.

“We know when you fight with City, City most of the time they win games so all we can do is focus on ourselves and see what happens at the end of the season,” Salah said.

Trailing to Milot Rashica’s deflected strike early in the second half, Liverpool drew level through Sadio Mane’s overhead kick before taking the lead soon after through Salah’s landmark effort.

Players who have reached 150 goals in the club’s history:
    Ian Rush
    Roger Hunt
    Gordon Hodgson
    Billy Liddell
    Steven Gerrard
    Robbie Fowler
    Kenny Dalglish
    Michael Owen
    Harry Chambers
    Mohamed Salah

Salah’s 150th Liverpool goal helped keep his side’s title challenge on track as they came from behind to beat Norwich 3-1 at Anfield.

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, was asked to name his favourite Salah goal and he reeled off at least half a dozen.

He said: “Today was a really cheeky one, to be honest. I remember the Chelsea goal, comes inside and thunderbolt in the corner, a few of the dribblings against City and Watford, the United goal as well, Ali’s pass as well, the Champions League one at City as well was very special.”
