EPL: Why we lost to Everton – Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp has explained that his team was not good enough as they lost 2-0 to Everton in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

The Reds’ title hopes suffered a huge setback after they lost 2-0 to Everton thanks to goals from Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports, said: “I’m very disappointed. We let it happen exactly the game that Everton wanted. Two goals from set pieces. They are really strong.

“We created a lot and didn’t score. We were in a rush, not really clear enough. They scored the second goal with the routine they do all season. They had free kick after free kick, but we weren’t good enough.”

Liverpool now have 74 points, three less than leaders Arsenal and travel to West Ham in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has reacted to Salah’s attitude after being substituted in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.

Salah was visibly angry after he was replaced in the 75th minute by youngster, Ben Doak.

Klopp has now said that he doesn’t expect Salah to be happy with his decision.

Salah, who had a goal ruled out for offside in the first half, was seeking to score in Liverpool’s first game of the season for the seventh consecutive year.

“I can understand because if Mo scored, it would have been a new record for goals scored in the opening game, but I didn’t think about that. We needed stability, and we needed fresh legs. It was super intense for everybody. That’s all I can say about it; his reaction was absolutely okay.

“When I sub a player and he is jumping into my arms at 1-1 and he is a striker who thinks he will score, I would be really surprised, so that’s absolutely fine,” Klopp said.

Allardyce continued: “They all waste time in the last five minutes if they are winning 2-1. Don’t be daft.”

He added, “Rubbish, that is. We’ve been talking about the ball in play, rather than time-wasting, and whether the ball in play can be improved, but the game is ferocious and quick enough as it is.”
