Dramatic turn of events for comedian Jojo as Snapchat disables his account

In a surprising development, comedian Jojo, followed by a massive audience on Snapchat, has seen his account deactivated overnight without any prior warning or explanation. The situation, which he describes as incomprehensible, is particularly frustrating given his commitment to following platform guidelines.

“I don’t understand. I’ve always been mindful of what I post. My content is just humor and moments from my life—nothing more,” he stated in a video addressed to his fans. For Jojo, Snapchat was not only a vital tool for sharing his creative work but also for strengthening the connection with his audience.

The news quickly set social media ablaze. Outraged fans are rallying to demand the reinstatement of his account, with some even launching petitions urging Snapchat to reconsider its decision. “You can’t just cut an artist off from their audience without a valid reason,” wrote one user in a widely liked post.

While Jojo is trying to keep things in perspective, the impact is significant. “I feel like something’s been taken away from me,” he admitted, highlighting the considerable time, energy, and dedication required to build his presence on social media.

For now, Snapchat remains silent, but the issue is gaining traction. If not resolved soon, it could reignite the broader debate about transparency and accountability among major digital platforms.

Why regulating social Media will be dangerous – MC Lively

Popular Nigerian content creator and skitmaker, Micheal Sani, fondly called Mc Lively, has opined that government’s plan to regulate social media will cause more harm than good.

The comedian said the regulation of social media is not the problem but the issue lies with the people who will be in charge of the regulations.

MC Lively, while speaking in an interview with PUNCH said when regulated, it can easily be used as a tool for targeting content creators or for silencing citizens who speak out against government.

    He said;

“The problem with things like regulation in Nigeria is the people in charge of the regulation. It could easily turn to a witch-hunt against content creators or a way for government to silence citizens.

“That is what makes regulation of social media dangerous. It is important for people to have freedom with creativity, as that is the only way be which creatives can rise to the pinnacle of expression.”

Global human rights body, the Amnesty International, has decried the failure of the Nigerian authorities to hold to account killers’ of Deborah Samuel over alleged blasphemy more than one year after she was lynched by school mates.

Amnesty International which stated this in a statement posted on its X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, regretted that despite the fact that the killers of Deborah Samuel did not hide their faces in camera while committing the heinous crime, yet the State finds it difficult to bring them to justice since May 12, 2022.

Describing the latent behaviour of the government on violent crimes, the global rights organisation, stated that the consistent failure of the Nigerian government to tackle violence in the name of religion has effectively sent the message that anyone could commit murder and get away with it.

The statement partly read: “#Deborah Samuel was lynched by her school mates over alleged #blasphemy on 12 May 2022 in #Sokoto. More than a year after, the Nigerian authorities have failed to hold her killers to account.

“In a flagrant show of utter disdain for the sanctity of life and impunity, a video footage of a raging fire and a man facing the camera, bragging that he killed and burnt Deborah Samuel — while also brandishing a matchbox — was widely shared on social media.

“Consistent failure of the #Nigerian government to tackle violence in the name of religion has effectively sent the message that anyone can commit outrageous abuses and get away with it. This is unacceptable,” it stated.

  • Why stand -up comedy is dying in Nigeria – Ace comedian, Basketmouth

Why stand -up comedy is dying in Nigeria – Ace comedian, Basketmouth

Popular Nigerian comedian, Bright Okpocha famously knows as Basketmouth, has said that stand-up in Nigeria “is dying.”

Basket mouth said that , unlike the music and movie industries, the Nigerian comedy sector lacks “structure and platform.”

The lanky comedian made this known during an interview on Arise Television.

Basketmouth said: “My colleagues will agree with me that stand-up comedy in Nigeria is actually dying. The culture of stand-up comedy is bleeding terribly.

“You know, with music, they have their streaming platforms; they have a platform that supports what they do across the world. With movies, they have the same thing: they have the streaming platform. And Afrobeats broke into that space and made room for the movies. Unfortunately, for comedy, we don’t have any platforms. We don’t have comedy clubs; we don’t have any structure.

“In the United States, if comedians decide to go on tour, before they go on tour, they do comedy clubs across the states and try the materials repeatedly. But here in Nigeria, there’s no comedy club. There’s nowhere for you to practice your materials. Because this is an art, you can’t just create it and go on stage when you don’t know what the response is going to be like. When musicians make their songs, they call different people, A&R, and ask for their feedback before feeding it to the rest of the world. But out here, you see a lot of comedians. It’s a risky game. And they’re the ones promoting the shows, looking for sponsors. The system is not built to support comedy. A lot of newbies don’t have the platform like we had.”

Not even my mother, she is late now may God continue to rest her soul.when your are married your wife become your number priority. That is what I can give in terms of my own commitment”.
