    Police arrest 2 for allegedly robbing commercial s3x workers

    The Police Command in Lagos State says it has arrested two men for allegedly robbing three commercial sex workers.

    The Command’s Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest to NAN on Saturday.

    Hundeyin said that the three sex workers reported the case to the police on Wednesday at about 2.20a.m.

    He disclosed that the victims reported that they sighted two robbery suspects at an undisclosed place, who allegedly robbed them of their valuables on Aug. 23, at about 4.30a.m.

    “They stated they were picked up being commercial sex workers at Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, Bode Thomas, Surulere by the two suspects.

    “They were taken to where they claimed the (suspects) lodged. Suddenly, the suspects parked and ordered them to surrender their valuables.

    “In the process, two Iphone valued at N1.05 million, one REDMI Note 12 valued at N140,000, Iphone SR valued at N240,000 were collected from them.

    “The suspects also compelled the victims to transfer ₦25,OOO to an Opay Account and N8, 000 to same account,” he said.

    The police spokesperson said that during investigation, the suspects confessed to the crime.

    He disclosed that the suspects operational vehicle, a Toyota Camry with Reg. No. APP335 JA, two other blank number plates they were using for their operation were recovered.

    Hundeyin said that one of the victim’s cell phone, REDMI NOTE 12, was also recovered from the suspects, while investigation was ongoing.

    Gombe NSCDC command parade teenage commercial sex workers

    Six teenage commercial sex workers have been paraded by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, in Gombe state.

    The Gombe State Command of the NSCDC made this revelations on Tuesday, after the teenage sex workers were rescued from a joint.

    It was gathered that those paraded were between 16 and 19 years of age, hustling around Mile Three Meluku area.

    One of the NSCDC operatives, Commandant Waziri Goni revealed that the teenagers were from neighbouring states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno and Plateau.

    According to him, his men rescued the teenagers in the night at Gidan Solo, after useful information by some residents within the area.

    He added that two of the operators of the facility had been arrested and charged to court, saying that the girls’ parents have been contacted but never showed up.

    Goni said, “It is a pity none of their parents has shown up at least for them.

    “These are promising youths wasting away with no certain future.”

    The commandant pleaded with parents to ensure strict monitoring of their wards to avoid breeding of future criminals, adding that the likes of the girls harbour criminals.

    Aisha Umar from Bauchi state and Faizah Mohammed from Gombe state claim that the hustling, (prostitution) is highly rewarding hence their involvements in it.

    Mohammed said, “I charge between N15,000 and N25,000 for home services.”

    Rocket Hotel founder , Love Samuel, who was also arrested and paraded, said she was unaware of the fact that commercial sex workers lurk around her hotel to look for customers, saying she gave out the structure on rent to two persons who run the place.

    The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Social Development Secretariat (SDS) says it has arrested no fewer than 27 commercial sex workers and handed them over to the police for prosecution.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Malam Sani Amar, the Acting Director, Social Welfare Services, FCT SDS made this known when he led a team of security agencies and evacuation squad of SDS to raid a brothel, on Friday in Abuja.

    Amar stated that the FCT Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Aliyu had declared war against the operators of brothels and commercial sex workers in the territory as part of efforts to safeguard the health of residents.

    He said that the FCT minister of state had directed the social development secretariat to sanitise the FCT of all human nuisances and social vices such as commercial street workers and brothels.

    Amar, who disclosed that no fewer than 27 commercial sex workers were arrested and handed over to police for prosecution, reiterated the commitment of FCTA to ensure that rule of law propel in the city.

    He said that the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria, the Immigration Act and NAPTIP Act stipulates that operational of brothel, street commercial sex work, child abuse, child labour, human trafficking were criminal activities.

    “The FCT Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Aliyu and the FCT Permanent Secretary, Mr Olusade Adesola and the acting Secretary Social Development Secretariat (SDS), Dr Kevin Ike, are committed to safeguarding the health and lives of the residents.

    “The minister has declared war against operators of brothels in FCT and gave us matching order to ensure to rid the city of such illegal activities and business.

    “This is a clear demonstration of the commitment of the minister of state to ensure that the rule of law propel in the FCT,” Amar said.

    The director, therefore, appealed to the public, especially those that were into the operation of brothels, commercial sex work to have a change of mind and business.

    “COVID-19 pandemic is real and a commerce sex operator and their patronisers don’t have the luxury of time to check or ensure how healthy they are.

    “Therefore, it is an avenue for easy spread of COVID-19 and it is the duty of the FCT Administration to safeguard the lives and health of residents,” he said.
