    BREAKING: NECO releases 2023 common entrance results

    The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the release of the results of the 2023 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) into unity colleges.

    Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, David Adejo, while briefing newsmen after receiving the results from the Registrar of the National Examinations Council, Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi, said a total of 72,865 pupils registered for the exams.

    NCEE is for admission into Junior Secondary School (JSS 1) of Federal Unity Colleges and this year’s edition was written on June 3, in Nigeria, as well as Benin Republic and Togo.

    Adejo also said the examination recorded an increase in the number of female students.

    “A total of 72,865 pupils registered compared to 71,738 for 2022 with Lagos State having the highest number with 18,644 and Taraba with the lowest of 102.

    “With 38,801 female registrants against 34,064 males, we are making progress with bridging the gender parity. 69,829 pupils sat for the examination.

    “Also 3,036 pupils were absent; 76 pupils had the highest score of 203 and the lowest score was one mark, and this was scored by six pupils,” he said.

    Adejo commended NECO for ensuring a hitch – free examination saying that this indicated that the examination body was improving in its delivery of its examinations.

    He assured the commitment of the Ministry of Education to ensure that all admissions processes were concluded timely.

    “As you are all aware, our Federal Unity Colleges have become the first port of call for most parents in the country.

    ”Although we are currently facing challenges of infrastructural development, feeding and teacher quality, I want to assure you that the federal government is doing its best to ensure better conditions for effective teaching and learning in our schools,” he said.

    The National Examinations Council (NECO) has postponed the 2023 National Common Entrance Examinations (NCEE) to Saturday, 3rd June 2023, citing low registration by applicants as the reason for the postponement.

    The NCEE exam was initially billed to hold nationwide on April 29, 2023.

    The NCEE admits candidates into federal Unity colleges in the country.

    Azeez Sani, NECO’s Head Information and Public Relations Division, said in a terse statement on Wednesday that the examination was rescheduled to give States with low registration the opportunity to register their candidates for the examination.

    He enjoined all candidates, parents, guardians, schools and relevant stakeholders to take note of the new date for the examination while stating that the registration of more candidates will continue till the new date of the examination.

    The National Examinations Council (NECO) has rescheduled the 2022 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) conducted for admission into Federal Unity Colleges from April 23 to May 7.

    Mr Azeez Sani, Head Information and Public Relations Division of the council made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday.

    Sani said that the examination was rescheduled to give states with low registration of candidates the opportunity to register their candidates for the examination.

    ”All candidates, parents, guardians and relevant stakeholders are therefore enjoined to take note of the new date for the examination.

    ”The registration of candidates will continue till the new date of the examination.

    “Candidates, parents and guardians are advised to download the new examination time table from the council’s website: www.neco.gov.ng.

    The National Examinations Council (NECO) has rescheduled the 2021 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) into Federal Unity Colleges from May 29 to June 5.

    This is contained in a statement by Mr Azeez Sani, NECO Head of Information and Public Relations Division in Abuja on Wednesday.

    Sani enjoined candidates, parents, guardians and relevant stakeholders to take note of the new date for the examination.

    He said that registration of candidates would continue until the new date of the examination, while advising candidates, parents and guardians to download the new Examination Time Table from the Council’s website: www.neco.gov.ng.

    Just In: NECO releases Common Entrance results

    The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has announced the results of the just concluded National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) with 24,416 candidates scaling through, scoring a minimum of 66.

    Adamu, who announced the results at a news conference in Abuja on Monday, said that the total carrying capacity of the 110 unity colleges which stood at 26,625 had added additional 720 slots.

    He said that the overall best student is Umeonyiagu Crucifixio, an indigene of Anambra, who scored 199 out of 200.

    He said that Onwuamanan Udochukwu from Imo scored 198 and Aderemilekun Salaam from Ogun scored 197.

    “As has been the tradition for decades, the admission criteria include 60 per cent on merit, 30 per cent based on states’ representation in the unity colleges and the remaining 10 per cent covers other sundry considerations.

    “Consequently, in this year’s admission, the 60 per cent merit-based admission will come first, followed by the 30 per cent equality of states and 10 per cent discretion.

    “I have, therefore, directed that within 72 hours of the receipt of the results, all principals are to complete both the merit based (60 per cent) and the 30 per cent of equity of states’ admission.

    “ The selection meeting to be held at a designated date and venue will deal with the shopping and swapping of candidates to meet the 30 per cent states representation as much as possible,’’ Adamu said.

    The minister directed the selection committee to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 protocols by following the carrying capacity of each school without exception.

    According to him, this will help to avoid congestion of the classrooms thereby not rendering the children vulnerable to the pandemic.

    Prof. Godswill Obioma, NECO Registrar, while presenting the result to the minister said that the examination was conducted under the supervision of external auditors.

    Obioma said that 16,714 candidates were absent for the examinations due to the EndSARS protests.

    “Everything was monitored, supervised by external auditors.
    “I will like to say that a total of 93,929 candidates registered for the examinations out of which 70,580 sat and

    16,714 were unavoidably absent.

    “Following the profile of grading of marking, we will like to inform the minister that we have done the analysis based on states of domicile, origin and other considerations,’’ he said.

    The NECO boss said that generally speaking the national merit cut off mark is 142 and the least score is two.

    Delta shifts date of common entrance examination

    Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has postponed the common entrance examination into the state’s model secondary schools and Delta State Secondary School, Warri.

    Mrs Oderhohwo Kehinde, Director/Registrar, Examinations and Standards Department, made the disclosure in a statement on Wednesday in Asaba.

    Kehinde said that the examination scheduled to hold on Oct. 10, would take place on Oct. 15, to enable more candidates to apply.

    “Registration fee for the examination is N2, 500 and registration will be done online by candidates using scratch cards obtained from Field Offices of the Chief Inspectors of Education.

    “Candidates for state’s model schools will gain access to the registration form online through the ministry’s portal after the payment of the registration fee.

    “The scratch cards will be used for registration as well as checking results, and the entrance examination is open to candidates for admission into JS1, JS2, SS1 and SS2,’’ she said.

    Kehinde said that the examination would be done once, adding that there would not be supplementary examination as it used to be.

    BREAKING: FG announces dates for 2020 NECO, Common Entrance examinations

    The Federal Government on Wednesday says this year’s Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations for SSS3 pupils organised by the National Examination Council will start October 5 and end November 18.

    It also stated that the National Common Entrance Examination organised by the National Examination Council will hold on October 17.

    This was contained in a statement signed by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, Ben Goong.

    In the statement titled, ‘FG Rolls Out Schedule For National Examination’, the ministry also said the National Business and Technical Examination Board examination would commence effective September 21 through October 15.

    “Registration for NECO (SSCE) which is ongoing will end on the 10th of September 2020 and there shall be no extension for registration whatsoever,” the statement noted.

    Covid 19: NECO postpones 2020 common entrance examination

    The National Examinations Council (NECO), has postponed the 2020 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE), into Federal Unity Colleges, earlier scheduled to hold on Saturday March 28.

    Mr Azeez Sani, Head, Information and Public Relations Division of the council, made this known in a statement in Abuja, on Tuesday.

    Sani said that the decision was in deference to the various measures being put in place by federal and state governments, to curtail potential spread of Corona virus (COV1D 19) in the country.

    “The management of NECO regrets any inconveniences the postponement might have caused our esteemed candidates and other stakeholders.

    “A new date for the examination will be communicated to candidates and other stakeholders in due course.”

    He, however, added in the statement that registration for the examination would continue.

    Mr Azeez Sani, Head, Information and Public Relations Division of the council, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday.
    Sani said the examination, which was initially scheduled for April 13, was re-scheduled to give states with low registration of candidates the opportunity to register for the examination.
    He added that a total of 70,720 candidates had so far registered for the examination across the country.
    He, however, advised candidates to download the new Examination Time-Table from the Council’s website: www.neco.gov.ng.
