And they’ll have until 2025 to win their first European crown under the iconic manager, as, says The Athletic, City have reached an agreement with Guardiola to extend his stay for another two years.

  • REVEALED: Why Man Utd keeper De Gea split with agent Mendes

REVEALED: Why Man Utd keeper De Gea split with agent Mendes

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea ended his relationship with agent Jorge Mendes three years ago.

De Gea signed his latest contract at Old Trafford in September 2019.

The negotiations were long and drawn out before De Gea eventually signed on the dotted line for a deal until 2023 worth £375,000 per week.

But The Athletic says the Spaniard got rid of superagent Mendes during the negotiations.

De Gea, 31, was said to have an agreement to work with Mendes’ Gestifute agency – but there was no legal contract.

United had offered the wages De Gea wanted but Mendes reportedly kept trying to add extra clauses and bonuses.

So when then-executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward saw De Gea at Carrington and asked what else he wanted, the goalkeeper was unsure what Woodward meant.

They went to his office and De Gea looked over the contract offer for himself – then signed it the very next day.

The intermediary listed on the FA documentation is Jose Bouzas Aragon, De Gea’s family lawyer, and there is no mention of Mendes.

De Gea and Mendes – who includes Cristiano Ronaldo, Darwin Nunez, and Bernardo Silva on his long list of clients – have not worked together since.

Mikel Arteta announces new Gabriel contract

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has signed a new contract at the club until 2027.

The Brazilian international joined Arsenal in September 2020 for a reported £23.14m from Lille.

“He is a young player with a great work ethic,” said Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. “Working with Gabi every day is a pleasure.”

Gabriel’s new deal is a two-year extension to his original contract.

The 24-year-old has made 81 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners, scoring nine goals.

“I think when we look at a central defender we look at partnerships,” added Arteta.

“I think Gabi has made William Saliba a better player and I think Willy helps him to be the same.

“A winning team needs to have a spine, play at a really high level, and keep clean sheets. We are doing that a lot.”

The Gunners are four points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League having won nine and lost one of their ten fixtures so far.

  • Chelsea, Inter Milan close to new Lukaku agreement

Chelsea, Inter Milan close to new Lukaku agreement

Premier League side Chelsea will accept that Romelu Lukaku will remain on loan at Inter Milan next season.

The Belgian signed for the London club in 2021 in a record deal of £97 million from Inter.

However, he struggled to show his best form in the Premier League, heading back to the San Siro stadium club a year later on loan.

Per Gazzetta dello Sport, all three parties want to extend the year’s loan to another season.

That would take Lukaku to the end of the 2023/2024 season with Inter.

The report adds that Chelsea and Inter want to negotiate a transfer fee for his permanent sale in 2024 as well.

  • Barca plan pre-contract move for Chelsea midfielder

Barca plan pre-contract move for Chelsea midfielder

La Liga side Barcelona are planning a pre-contract move for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho.

The 30-year-old Italy international has just 10 months to run on his Stamford Bridge contract and, unless he agrees new terms in south-west London, he will be available to talk to overseas clubs from January.

Barcelona are looking at potential replacements for Sergio Busquets, who turns 35 next summer and will also be out of contract then.

And the Brazil-born Blues ace is seen by Nou Camp bigwigs as someone who ticks all the boxes to fill the void Busquets will leave, says the Mirror.

The fact Jorginho will be available for nothing if he allows his contract to run down at Chelsea is also a massive plus-point for the Catalan club given their ongoing financial issues.

Man Utd could be my last club – De Gea

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has declared his intention to remain at the club for many more years.

De Gea is yet to hold any discussions over a new contract, but is ready to commit for the long-term once again. His current deal expires next June.

“I didn’t talk with anyone yet but of course, I would be really happy to be here for as long as they want because I want to be here for more years,” he said.

Asked if he could finish his career at the club, De Gea said: “Yeah, if it’s possible, of course. If they let me stay here I will stay here, for sure. I’m really comfortable, really happy and hopefully, before I leave we can win something.”

La Liga side, Barcelona have confirmed that Ousmane Dembele has agreed a new two-year contract to stay at Camp Nou.

The five-year contract that Dembele signed when he joined Barca from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 expired at the end of June.

Talks have continued over a new deal and the France international has now agreed terms on a fresh contract, keeping him at Barca until the end of the 2023-24 season.

That Dembele remains a Barca player at all is a complete turnaround from the situation in January.

The club insisted the winger would be sold or leave on a free transfer at the end of the campaign after the 25-year-old turned down a contract offer.

Barca revealed he will sign his new deal at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper later on Thursday.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta had revealed on Wednesday that Dembele’s new contract will be confirmed this week.

Dembele has made 150 appearances for Barca and came to the fore last season, setting up 13 goals in LaLiga – more than any other player in the Spanish top flight.

The Blaugrana also reached an agreement to sign Brazil winger Raphinha from Leeds United for a reported fee of €($) 67 million. Raphinha arrived in Spain for a medical on Wednesday.

Alexandre Lacazette to leave Arsenal at end of June

Arsenal have confirmed that forward Alexandre Lacazette will leave the Gunners this summer.

The 31-year-old will quit north London when his contract expires on June 30, with a free-transfer return to former club Lyon his expected next destination.

Lacazette struck 71 goals in 206 appearances in five years at the Emirates Stadium outfit.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus, and Lacazette’s departure opens up a berth in Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Gunners manager Arteta hailed Lacazette’s influence ahead of the France striker’s departure.

“Laca has been a fantastic player for us,” said Arteta.

“He’s been a real leader on and off the pitch and has been a very important influence to our younger players.

“His commitment with us has been exceptional and we wish him and his family success and happiness.”

Lacazette admitted the time had come for a new challenge.

“I’m looking forward to a new experience and a new adventure,” Lacazette told Arsenal’s official club website.

“I want to keep all the good moments I had in the club, because for me it was just a pleasure to play for a club that, since I was young, I dreamt of.

“I’m really happy to have played for five years for Arsenal.

“I’ll keep in contact with my team-mates, with the coaches, with the club.

“I supported Arsenal since I was young. So, obviously I’m going to keep supporting them. I know I will come back to the stadium as well.”
