“I will continue until the end of my contract, I owe a lot to this shirt and I will continue giving everything to the end.

He has also scored four goals since joining the London club on a free transfer from Paris St-Germain in August 2020.

Silva told Chelsea’s official website that playing for the club is a “real pleasure”.

“I never thought I would play for three years here in this great club so I’m very happy to stay for another season,” said Silva.

“To play here with Chelsea is a real pleasure, I’m going to give everything to keep playing at this level in the most important league in the world.”

Contract talk collapses as Lingard set to leave Man Utd

Jesse Lingard has rejected pay cut at Manchester United and will now push to leave the club in the January transfer window, according to The Times.

The England star’s current deal ends at the end of the 2021-22 season meaning the 28-year-old will go as a free agent.

The England international has been frustrated with his lack of playing time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after he failed to leave in the summer.

He has started just one game in all competitions so far this season and the newspaper says that United were keen on extending his current deal but their initial offer was worth less than the midfielder’s current salary.

The report also says that the representatives of the England star have also held talks with a club in Spain.

The 28-year-old was on loan at West Ham United last season where he performed beyond expectations but decided to return to Old Trafford at the end of the season

Lingard scored nine goals in 16 appearances for the Hammers last season and was reportedly given assurances by Solskjaer that he would be granted more minutes.

But the player was ‘perplexed’ by the decision from the United manager to start Dan James just days before his £25 million move to Leeds.

Arsenal refusing to hand Lacazette long-term deal

Arsenal chiefs are in no mood to hand French forward Alexandre Lacazette a long term contract.

The 30-year-old is a free agent in the summer, as his present deal runs to the end of the season.

According to The Athletic, Arsenal are not ruling out an agreement that would extend Lacazette’s stay at the club.

However, the club do not want to offer a long-term contract to a 30-year-old, as they are concerned about how that turned out with Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis, and others over the years.

Lacazette renewing for several years may also prompt the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Folarin Balogun to seek other clubs, as their path to regular starts would be a lot more difficult.

Why I didn’t sign a new deal with Burna Boy – Buju

New Nigerian music star, Daniel Benson popularly known as Buju, has finally revealed why he did not sign a new deal with Burna Boy’s label ‘Spaceship’

Buju was signed to Spaceship Collective in 2020 and released ‘L’enu’ remix with Burna Boy.

However, the contract ended in 2021 and Buju did not renew it.

Speaking with HipTV, Buju said he didn’t renew his contract with Burna Boy because he wanted to do things differently on his own.

Buju said: “Signing with spaceship was so amazing I got like 9m streams with my remix in April

“Burna heard my song ‘Lenu’ in the club and ‘vibed’ with it and signed me in 2020 but it was a year contract and I didn’t renew it.

“I didn’t renew the contract after a year because I want to do things on my own differently. I’ve seen how it works around there and it does not necessarily flow with me.

“Affiliation is great when it’s working for you.

“I told Burna I wanted to do it on my own and I’ll make him proud and he told me to go along.”

Barca make contract decision for Daniel Alves

La Liga club Barcelona have decided against offering a contract to Daniel Alves.

Marca says Barca are not considering a move for the 38-year-old free agent.

Alves, who played for Barcelona between 2008 and 2016, has been without a club since leaving Sao Paulo in September 2021, and he even offered himself to the Blaugrana.

The right-back is looking for a club where he can feel happy for the final years of his career and he believes that Barcelona is the perfect place for him to see out his playing days, which he has made clear to some key figures inside the club.

In fact, Alves echoed these comments when speaking to Barcelona’s leaders just a few weeks ago when he was at the Camp Nou watching the club’s Champions League group-stage match against Dynamo Kyiv.

However, Xavi Hernandez and Barcelona’s leaders are not thinking about bringing Alves back to the Camp Nou – as a player anyway – because they want to give more priority to the club’s younger players.

I’ll sign new contract if… – Pogba to Man Utd

Paul Pogba is prepared to stay with Manchester United and sign a new contract.

The midfielder, 28, is out of contract next summer and he is embroiled in a lengthy stalemate with the Old Trafford hierarchy over extending his stay.

A source close to the player told L’Equipe he will agree to new terms so long as these make him the highest earner in the Premier League.

This will require the Red Devils to hand Pogba a deal worth in excess of £500,000 per week, which is veteran superstar Ronaldo’s current salary.

However, the former Juventus star’s lofty ambitions have been dealt a major blow by his latest injury concern.

Pogba hobbled away from a France training session on Monday and reports across the Channel warn he will be out for eight to 10 weeks with a thigh complaint.

“It’s been an unbelievable start to the season and something I never expected but it just shows that the hard work I’ve put in and going out on loans has paid off.
