BREAKING: Delta State COVID-19 index case, 2 others leave treatment centre

The index case of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Delta State has been discharged, according to Dr Onome Ogueh, Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Delta State University (DELSU) Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH).

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Dr Ogueh made the disclosure while addressing the State COVID-19 Case Management Team led by Dr. Ann Ojimba and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) representative in the State, Dr. Otoh Daniel at the University premises.

According to Ogueh, the index case, alongside two other COVID-19 patients were discharged on Thursday after testing negative twice for the virus.

Recall that the index case, which is the first case of COVID-19 to be reported in Delta, arrived at the DELSUTH isolation centre on the 7th April, 2020.

The DELSUTH director thanked the State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mordi Ononye for their proactive approach and support to the isolation/treatment centre.

He said the approach and support resulted in the quick recovery of the first set of discharged patients from the centre.

The director also thanked the DELSUTH COVID-19 response team for their commitment in the treatment and care of the patients in spite of the dangers to themselves.

Meanwhile, a new case of COVID-19 was confirmed in Ika South Local Government Area of the State on Friday, bringing the total number of cases in the State to 23.

With 4 deaths of COVID-19 patients recorded in the State, and the discharge of 9 patients so far, the number of active COVID-19 cases in the State now stands at 10.

Meanwhile, TNG learnt that three of the four new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Warri on Wednesday are health workers in the State.

It was gathered that the health workers alleged to be all medical doctors were among workers who have been attending to COVID-19 patients at the Central Hospital, where one of the isolation/treatment centres of the State is located.

  • How COVID-19 is affecting routine health services across Nigeria

How COVID-19 is affecting routine health services across Nigeria

Latest statistics from the National Health Management Information System (NHMIS) indicate that out-patient visit to hospitals across Nigeria dropped from 4 million to about 2 million as attention has been shifted to the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Dr Osagie Ehanire, Minister of Health made this known on Thursday during the daily press briefing of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In his remarks, Dr Ehanire revealed that antenatal visits dropped from 1.3 million to 655 thousand, skilled birth attendance dropped from 158,374 to less than 99 thousand, and that immunization services reduced to about half.

The Minister of Health stressed in his remarks that all these failings have as yet undetermined consequences, which the easing of the lockdown should hopefully address.

    Read Minister’s remarks below

    Protocol.

Yesterday, 13th of May 2020, 184 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in 22 states. A breakdown of the cases by States shows Lagos (51), Jigawa 23, Bauchi(16), Katsina(16), Kano(14), FCT(10), Rivers(10), Kwara(9), Delta(5), Kaduna(5), Sokoto(4), Oyo(4), Kebbi(3), Nasarawa (3), Osun(3), Ondo(2), Ebonyi(1), Edo(1), Enugu(1), Anambra(1), Plateau (1), Niger (1) with 6 fatalities recorded in the same period. The total number of cases in Nigeria so far has reached 4,971, with sadly 164 fatalities. So far, 1071 cases have been treated and discharged.

    2. As we inch towards significant milestones in our COVID-19 statistics, we are looking at all options to adjust our approach to the emerging situation. The Federal Ministry of Health and its Agencies particularly the Nigeria Center for Disease Control and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency have scaled up training in Infection Prevention and Control, case finding and management, Emergency Patient Transport Systems, Surveillance Outbreak Response Management Analysis System (SORMAS), down to training of hygienists, stretcher bearers and security personnel. This will increase confidence in the health system, reduce instances of Health worker infection and desertion and improve overall performance.

    3. We have also deployed commodities like PPE and other supplies to States and Federal Health Institutions, and in addition continued with supplies to laboratories to forestall much reported delays arising from shortages.

4.These measures and others are to address the needs reported to us by the FMoH team, presently deployed in Kano, which has also paid exploratory visits to Jigawa, Bauchi and Katsina and is preparing to visit Sokoto and Bornu very soon. Part of the needs already identified is the urgent necessity of on site laboratories with molecular diagnostic capacity, to reduce the presently extended turnaround time for results. Practical, hand-holding personnel training has been requested for some of the health systems, who have had very little experience in the past, with Infectious disease management. To this end, more personnel is to be deployed from the Federal Infectious Disease Specialist Hospital Irrua, while the kind offer of Lagos and Ekiti State Governors will also be drawn upon to send health workers to assist. Stepdown training will be a priority in the entire excercise to build capacity across the board to the level of community health workers, in the bid to sustain safe and comprehensive delivery of services.

    5. The Federal Ministries of Health and of the Federal Capital Territory held a ministerial meeting today and agreed on a firm, synergistic framework for collaboration and cooperation to respond to the challenges of COVID-19 within the Federal Capital territory. A joint committee led by the Hon. Minister of State for Health and including their Permanent Secretaries was set up to oversee the ThisDay Dome COVID-19 treatment facility, recently handed over to the 2 ministries. The initial medical team is to be headed by the Chief Medical Director of Federal Teaching Hospital Irrua. The Ministers also paid an inspection visit to the 600 bed COVID-19 treatment center at Idu, a flagship project of FCTA.

    5. Also slated for special emphasis by Federal Ministry of Health is ensuring continued delivery of routine services in all hospitals in Nigeria. Latest statistics from the (NHMIS) National Health Management Information System, indicate that Out patient visit dropped dropped from 4 million to about 2 million, Antenatal visits from 1.3 million to 655 thousand, Skilled Birth attendance from 158,374 to less than 99 thousand, while immunization services reduced to about half. All these failings have as yet undetermined consequences, which the easing of the lockdown should hopefully address. However, the suspected downside of easing restrictions has to be balanced off by citizens, with collective determination by all of us, not only to comply with protective and prophylactic advisories, but to encourage relatives, friends neighbors and customers to do same. The use of facial covers like masks in places where social distancing may be difficult or impractical, should be emphasized and supported through distribution of masks to the population, as an act of goodwill. Face masks should in fact become commonplace and I look forward to seeing that cooks, stewards and Food vendors, for example, wear masks, or lose their customers.

I wish to enjoin workplaces to institute such requirements and ensure that all workers are masked and knowledgeable about COVID-19, and by extension, share it with their families and relations.

    6. I wish to use this opportunity to thank community, religious and traditional leaders, who have supported Government initiatives by ensuring that their subjects use masks as the minimum form of self protection for themselves and us all. The present rate of community transmission makes even these simple measures helpful.

    7. We shall engage State Commissioners of Health and their staff through IT platform, to continue training and retraining of health workers in States, as more information on covid-19 is received, to ensure learnings and exchange of ideas and experiences of other countries, is shared.

    9. We have had discussions with multinationals and our development partners such as WHO and Global Fund, to plan our needs, processes and procurements. Funds are also being repurposed for use in the covid19 response to further increase diagnostic capacity and provide personal protective equipment for our health care and other public workers.

    10. I shall conclude by thanking our Governors for the leadership they are showing in the response to the virus threat and also all our citizens for adhering to public health advisories. The FMoH visit to Cross River State will be scheduled as soon as transport is arranged and to Kogi State, as soon as details are worked out.

    11. Thank you for your attention.

  • COVID-19: FG raises alarm over persons evacuated from UAE, UK, US

COVID-19: FG raises alarm over persons evacuated from UAE, UK, US

The federal government has raised an alarm, warning Nigerians against visiting friends and relations recently evacuated from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States (US).

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) gave the warning on Thursday.

In his remarks during the daily press briefing of the PTFCOVID19, the SGF said some of the returnees failed to adhere to the conditions attached to their quarantine, stressing that complying with the warning is in the interest of the visiting relation and in the overall public interest.

    Read remarks below:

I welcome you to the National Briefing by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 for Thursday, 14th May, 2020.

2.From today 14th May 2020, we begin the countdown to the end of the first phase of eased lockdown approved by the President, so that our economy could gradually reopen. At the same time, we continue our assessment of the level of compliance with the guidelines and the impact on slowing down the spread of COVID 19. In due course, we shall make further recommendations before the second phase commences.

3.I must, however, state that our initial evaluation point firmly in the direction of a high level of non-compliance which, as we have often warned, portend grave self-inflicted danger. This fact has made it imperative for me to re-echo our call for taking personal responsibility. You must abide with the guidelines (wash your hands as frequently as necessary; use hand sanitizers; maintain social distancing, use a face mask or covering in public places). In addition, you must comply with the ban on inter-state travels, avoid crowded places, observe the curfew and do all you can to STAY HOME and STAY SAFE.

4.You will recall that when the new measures were rolled out and published, we ensured that certain economic activities pertaining to food production and distribution were exempted. This, for the avoidance of doubts includes farming activities. We recognize the fact that we are in the planting season and the nation cannot afford to prevent our hardworking farmers from going to their farms. We therefore use this medium to reemphasize that farmers fall within the list of exemptions and urge State Governors, Local Government Authorities and security agencies to please allow them to carry out their activities. Our food security is critical to our national security.

5.In the past two days, the PTF has briefed the topmost decision-making bodies of the country on progress, challenges and planned course of action. The objective was to seek further guidance and fresh ideas to improve the fight against COVID-19. The briefing was robust and very helpful in bringing renewed cohesion into the efforts of government.

6.The statistics on COVID 19 have continued to come out daily and the indications are that our testing strategy is yielding results because we can now give care to those that need it. The PTF wishes to congratulate all our frontline health workers that have

collectively nursed back to health, a total of 1,071 Nigerians already discharged from the various isolation treatment centres. These health workers have put in all, even beyond the call of duty, to save lives. We also congratulate all those that have been discharged and urge them to come out and tell their stories. We need to tell Nigerians that COVID-19 is real, that it is deadly and that prevention is better than cure. There is no better convincing and compelling evidence of the reality of the dangers than your experience.

7.The PTF reported the progress made with the evacuation of some Nigerians from the UAE, UK & USA. We also informed you about the mandatory quarantine protocol. Nigerians have in recent days been served with different audio-visual clips by some of these returnees. The PTF is saddened by the conduct of some of the returnees who fail to adhere to the conditions attached to their quarantine. I strongly urge them to obey the rules in the facilities and also urge their friends and relations to recognize the contagious nature of the disease by desisting from visiting them. Complying is in the interest of the visiting relation and in the overall public interest.

8.The PTF is pleased to inform you that it has facilitated the visit of the national leadership of the Nigerian Medical Association, JOHESU, National Association of Nurses & Midwives, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Association of Health Professionals and the National Association of Resident Doctors to Kano and Lagos.

Unfortunately, due to traffic gridlock, the delegation could not carry out its mission in Lagos and would repeat it in the coming week. This collaboration underscores the importance the PTF attaches to inclusiveness in the battle against COVID-19. It also reassures our medical personnel that they remain a top priority for government in this effort.

9.The PTF welcomes the resolution of the Nigeria Governors Forum to take steps to ramp up testing and provide the prescribed minimum number of bed spaces in their

isolation/treatment centres. We in turn assure the States that the NCDC will continue to provide technical support and standardization guidelines. It will also continue to firmly

pursue its surveillance activities nationwide. We urge the States to recognize the essence of a strong partnership and always allow overarching public interest to prevail.

10Finally, let me remind all Nigerians that in this battle, vigilance is required, self-preservation is important, collective action is necessary and compliance with guidelines is imperative. All these will help us prevent infection. .

11.I now cede the podium to the Hon. Minister of Health, the DG NCDC and the National Coordinator to update the nation.

    12.I thank you for listening.

  • Corona watch: Current situation of Coronavirus in UAE – Julius Nwosu

    By Julius Nwosu (UAE)

The United Arab Emirates is a small country, but it’s packed with exciting places for visitors to check out and fall in love with. From modern buildings to cultural hot-spots, there’s a little bit of everything. This what makes the UAE one of the hottest tourist destinations in the world. Just like every other parts of the world, we were not left with the shock impacted on us by the pandemic called corona virus which has distorted the activities of the country as a whole.

Notably, owing to different conspiracy theories surrounding the outbreak of corona virus like failed laboratory test in Wuhan, corruption, consumption of uncooked Wild animals in Chinese markets, 5G technology. Environmentalists puts the blame on man as the major cause of the viral outbreak reason being that deforestation for the selfish interest of man’s activities has forced the animals to adjust to a more severe living condition and mostly in their unnatural habitation which could prompt them to engage in activities outside their natural selection. The coronavirus, or nCOV or Covid-19, is a virus that is transmitted through droplets, with symptoms such as fever, cough, short breath, gastrointestinal issues, general body ache, etc. The outbreak of the virus, which began in Wuhan, China, has sickened more than three and a half million people and has sent shivers through world financial markets, with investors drawing comparisons to the 2003 SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) outbreak in order to assess its potential socio-economic impact.

As at May 6, 2020, at least 146 people have died, 15,192 confirmed cases, 3,153 recoveries drafted from http://www.coronauae.com in less than three months of its emergence and wildfire spread, this pandemic has plunged the country into economic recession. How far are we from the corona virus cure? The eruption of coronavirus and its spontaneous spread across UAE has taken many by surprise. Businesses, industries, and governments must now stand up to the reality of the urgency of the situation. The ongoing pandemic; coronavirus has affected movement and business activities thereby putting them on hold and causing panic in several sectors of the country.

The social distancing has kept a large number of companies, businesses, industries and several sectors on lockdown, causing a downtrend in the UAE market. Amid the coronavirus outbreak, countries across the world have relied on complete or partial lockdowns as a mitigative step to control the spread of infection. Among these countries, lockdowns imposed by the government of UAE, Dubai had a total lockdown, while Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, and possibly, every other Emirates had partial lockdown. In due course, we must admit to live with it as long as it lasts because the vast population depend on daily income as opposed to monthly income, and as such, there will be noticeable adjustments in our way of living.

However, the adverse effects of the widespread of the coronavirus in UAE has resulted into the Suspension of flight and closure of border, increased begging, massive retrenchment of workers, paused or cancelled job contracts, cut or unpaid salaries to workers, corona-racism, stranded tourists, increased illegal activities, increased cost of food stuffs due to border closure, suspension of social and religious activities, suspension of business activities except hospitals, police, groceries, etc., inadequate funds to pay rents and other bills, restriction of movement due to imposition of partial or total lockdown, increased research and methodology in science.

Nevertheless, there are measures to curb the spread like, creation of awareness, thermal screenings at designated places, social distancing on transport, road, etc., limited number of persons allowed on the lift and stores, use of personal protective equipment, closure of assembly areas like parks, gyms, restaurants, etc., increased acceptance of take away and deliveries of food and other items, emergency self-check and isolation process, deep cleaning and sanitization of prone areas and items, provision of hygienic materials, anti-begging policies, establishments of drive through test centers, set up of emergency hospitals and increased intake of frontline workers, airborne precautions, quarantine for infected persons. Moreover, there have been positive impacts to changes in the society like; decarbonization of the earth, solidarity among all races, renewal of energy, climate change, increased use of technology such as Artificial intelligence and machine learning, e.g. Drones, Robots, etc., increased use of other means of transports and crowd-cutting, e.g. cycling.

Successfully, with the recent ground breaking scientific research in the use of stem cell that the UAE developed as an aerosol medication which has shown promising results in the treatment of Covid-19, developed by a team of doctors and researchers at Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Centre, it was administered to 73 coronavirus patients who have each gone on to recover, It involves extracting stem cells from the patient’s blood and reintroducing them after “activating” them. The patent was granted for the method in which the stem cells are collected. After it has been nebulized into a fine mist, the treatment is inhaled into the lungs of a patient. The treatment has successfully undergone the initial phase of clinical trials, demonstrating its safety. Researchers believe it has a therapeutic effect caused by regeneration of lung cells. It is also thought to modulate the immune response to keep it from overreacting to the Covid-19 infection and causing further damage to healthy cells.

Victoriously, we hope to expect a decline in the wild spread and total eradication of the virus with more on observing safety precautions, findings, respecting the law, etc. we hope things to resume as expected as we fight on to overcome these trying times, with a big gratitude to the front liners, condolences to those who have lost their loved ones, and not forgetting those who survived the trauma of being quarantined, stay smart, stay safe.

  • Super Lig: Besiktas chairman tests positive for COVID-19

Besiktas executive chairman Ahmet Nur Cebi is among a spate of positive coronavirus tests in Turkish football.

Shortly after revealing eight unspecified individuals related to the club had contracted Covid-19, Besiktas on Thursday confirmed Cebi had returned a positive result.

The team have reportedly stopped training, with the Super Lig set to return from its suspension during the pandemic on June 12.

A statement from Besiktas’ health team consultant Tekin Kerem Ulku said: “The follow-up and treatment process of the people whose test results were positive has started immediately in line with the relevant procedures.”

Fellow Super Lig side Kasimpasa then revealed two players at the club had tested positive and would be quarantined, although they did not reveal the identities of those infected.

On Wednesday, second-tier outfit BB Erzurumspor said their latest round of testing returned 11 positive results, four of which were players.

The situation is likely to lead to pressure on the Turkish Football Federation, which earlier this month set the resumption date for the Super Lig.

TESTIMONY: Doyin Okupe, diagnosed with diabetes, cancer narrates COVID-19 ‘escape’

Doyin Okupe, a former Special Assistant to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Senior Special Assistant to former President Goodluck Jonathan has shared testimony of how he survived the dreadful Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Doyin Okupe narrating how himself and his wife survived the disease, revealed his battle with hypertension, diabetes and prostate cancer.

    Read Doyin Okupe’s testimony below:

    COVID19: MY TESTIMONY

Ps 24 vs 4. Though I walk thru the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear No evil.

I hv gone thru a lot In my life. I was diagnosed hypertensive at d age of 30yrs. I had cancer of the Prostrate at 56yrs. At 63 I had to hv a non invasive corrective surgery to treat Congenital Sinus Bradycardia. Now at 68yrs I was infected with covid19. I bear on me virtually all the risk factors against survival against covid19 infection. I am 68yrs old. I am hypertensive, diagnosed diabetic in oct 2019. I have sleep Apnoea. This is the story of my life. But the Bible says ” Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but God delivers him from them all.”

For the reasons above I have chosen early to be close to God and build an army of Christian Soldiers around me.

In feb of this year I was restless in my spirit. I called for an appointment wt Primate Oshitelu, who is d leader of the Church of the Lord Worldwide and lives in Ogere less than 10km from my residence in Iperu.

He saw me and I told him I wanted to pray for God’s Mercy.

We never met at that close level before then. He told me to come for 3days prayers on the Mercy land. I did. On d 3rd day the ministers who prayed wt me asked me to come for 3days retreat on mount TABEORRAH. This was a special privilege cos d place is opened to public only once a year. I went. I told God privately that I had come to seek His face, ask for Mercy and seek refuge in a Secret place in His Holy Terbanacle. On d 3rd day when we had d closing prayers, I was told all will be well but that when I gst home satan was still going to attack but I will be delivered by God Almighty. I was slightly upset but decided to rest on God’s promise for deliverance.

When the trouble finally came, and I was told by Dr dele Ajayi, the Head of Covid19 Team in Ogun state, I was devastated. He was extremely nice to me and assured me they will do their best. He arranged to test my entire household and our movement to isolation Center.

Thereafter I called d Primate and we prayed. He assured me the sickness was not unto death. I called my spiritual father and mentor Rev Joe Olaiya and my other ministers of God wt whom I have been praying for more than 10yrs. I already mentioned them in my previous posts. I called a snr brother, apostle Dave Salako, wt whom we shared the word and prayed frequently during my sojourn at the isolation Center.

Unbelievably together wt my brothers in the Lord we prayed for no less than 7 to 10hrs daily, day and nite. Satan can afflict us but cannot affect our prayers. Prayer is the most powerful weapon of a Christian in and out of crisis. That’s why the Bible says” Men ought to pray ceaselessly “. My wife and I knew that we were in a war situation and since the best doctors in the world do not know for sure which treatment works if any works at all, it was better for us to face squarely the Almighty God who is the All knowing and all powerful God to Heal us and true to His promise he did. All glory, honour and praise to his name and the power in the blood of the Holy lamb of God, Jesus Christ by whose STRIPES we were healed.

On friday 8th of May we had the good news that my wife and I had tested negative. We then needed another negative to be discharged. We were glad. But on sunday 10th satan struck. Another result confirmed that my wife recorded her 2nd negative while I tested positive again. Hope crashed and the heavens literally fell on me. The doctors insisted my wife must leave immediately to avoid reinfection which happened to a couple we met there. My wife broke down and wept uncontrollably. The doctors stood their ground and I also pleaded that I would rather she left for her children’s and everyone else sake. She got up and told d doctors that if she is forcefully removed she will kill herself and her blood shall be on the necks of the doctors. At this point the doctors were taken aback and they left. Came back 1hr later and gave us a set of drugs which will reduce viral load further and prevent reinfection. They also insisted we both must wear masks in house 24/7 and we agreed. When they left my wife and I agreed that we should not be ignorant of the devices of satan. I was due for another test in few hrs. We called everybody and we all launched serious supplication that God must intervene instant. We told corona virus that its name is insignificant when pitched wt the name Jesus which had been exalted above all names. That it must now bow. Besides bcos the righteousness of Christ Jesus resides in us and Jesus was the light of the world and God already at creation separated light from darkness, corona being an arrow from the kingdom of darkness cannot coexist wt the God of light inside of us

It must leave or must be ready to contend wt the power of the blood of Jesus. I quickly brought out my Holy communion wine knelt down, prayed and drank it and invoked the cleansing power of the blood. As we concluded, behold the doctor was at the door to take our samples for test. He did and left. We sent Angels of the Lord of Host after him and commanded that the test must come back negative.

In the nite we did a vigil with Mathew 18 vs 18 19 & 20. We then both chose Tue 14 april as our departure date from the isolation Center. By 6pm on Monday 13th my wife completed packing all our belongings and we were ready to go. All the fruits in the fridge we put together and gave our neighbour.

We thanked God for our discharge and slept. I was woken up @ 7.30am wt a phone call from dr Ajayi, the head of the team in abeokuta that our results hv tested negative and we were free to go.

My friends Our God is still in the business of hearing and answering Prayers. With faith in God and fervent prayers we can overcome all life challenges. Only we must believe and not doubt because He is faithful who has promised us and His word has never failed. Jesus is Lord. Hallelujah!!!

It is very sad that presently people of the world including world leaders fear Covid19 more than they fear God, the creator of heaven and earth. This is a global calamity and a sure path to pain sorrow and misery.

We Christians must take our stand. God Jehova is greater than all things, forms or forces. We must esteem him above everything on earth or in heaven. All powers belong to him. If we call him, confess our sins and humble ourselves nationally or globally , He will hear us and heal our lands in Jesus Name. And to Him who is God eternal I give all glory, honour and worship. I exalt the name of the Lord Jesus Christ the author and finisher of our faith, who rule and reign forever and ever . Amen.

The medications I took for my covid19 virus infections.

Hydroxychloroquine, 400mg daily for 2days.there after 400mg daily for 3days.

Azithromycin 500mg daily for 10 days.

Zinc sulphate 100mg daily till today

Vitamin C 1200 mg daily till now.

I had malaria while on admission. Was effectively treated with an anti malaria. I also developed cough after about a week and was effectively treated by fairly large dose of Augmentine for 7 days.

I must say that there is no universal medical consensus on a specific treatment regime for covid19. Also most of d drugs being used in different centres worldwide are not backed by any detailed or extensive research work anywhere in the world.. Most scientific works and studies currently going on have limited scientific acceptability either because the samples used are too scanty, sometimes as low as 40 to 60, or because controls do not exists. It will take another 4 to 6 months before results of credible works are available.

However the humongous nature of the global emergency make it impossible for countries not to explore experimental drugs that show any possibility or potential to contain the virus.

In my own case I commenced treatment with the hydroxychloroquine regime 4 days to my isolation. This us because I read extensively on various options of treatment for covid 19 and I follow the global debate on its pros & cons of d treatment. With my medical background and local consultation with colleagues I already made up my mind that the chloroquine regime was so far the most promising. I ordered for the drugs just in case someone close or even I should unfortunately pick up the virus.

I MUST WARN HERE THAT IF UU HV CARDIAC ARRHYTHMIAS , U WILL NEED TO CONSULT YR PHYSICIAN BEFORE U TAKE HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE. I DID. so I was advised to use 200mg twice daily instead of 400mg twice daily for 2days.

After I put my wife and I on the treatment my low grade fever disappeared completely and my wife’s bone pains too. Personally I blv the combination works. Lagos uses anti viral drugs and they also get good results. However the scientific truth we know about treatment for viral infection is that ultimately what eventually works is the innate capability of the immune system of individual patients. It is the immunity level that eventually decide the course of the infection in each individual. That is why age and ore existing comobidity factors are crucial to survival and wellbeing.

Hence for those who are not sick, you should ingest immune boosting drugs and preparations . Like zinc SULPHATE, immunace, RELOAD and similar immunity enhancing drugs.

I also took copious amount of ginger, garlic, tumeric and lemon. In kaduna I am told that they add dongoyaro leaves to the above mixture and drink liberally.

As a tip also, it is known that when the virus first gain access to the body it stays in the nasal cavity and the throat for 2 to 3days. In this position the virus itself is vulnerable. It does naturally in temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius. If at this stage u can consume large quantities of hot water wt lemon u can abort the attack.

    My Advice

Pursue personal safety at whatever cost. Stay at home. Dont visit and dont recieve visitors. Check drivers maids and aides. Since its may be difficult to gauge their compliance, either reduce to the barest minimum or do without. Those that must stay must be made to be resident and movements restricted.

.maintain physical distancing if u must ho out. Comply wt the hygiene protocols as recommended by NCDC.

Fortify yrself daily wt immune boosters.

At the slightest sign of trouble, fever, catarrh and or cough get help instant.

COVID-19: NCDC reveals age range more susceptible to Coronavirus in Nigeria

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says people within the 31 to 40 years age bracket are more susceptible to contracting the coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.

According to the centre, however, more deaths have been recorded among older people of 60 years and above.

In a report on Thursday in Abuja, the NCDC said that data also showed that men were two times more likely to get the virus as shown in its latest demographic data on COVID-19 confirmed cases and deaths by gender and age in the country.

“(People) between 31 and 40 years (of age) have the highest rate of confirmed cases.

“More males in that age category are confirmed cases but with lower mortality rate.

“Age 31-40: Male – 797 infected with seven deaths, female – 324 with four deaths but lower mortality compared to older persons,” it said.

According to the report, in spite of this, older people die more due to several factors from co-morbidities.

The data showed more deaths among 61-70 years, though the lowest rate in confirmed cases.

“Ages 61-70: Male-188 infected with three deaths, Female- 52 infected with four deaths.

“Age 70 plus: Male – 74 infected with 12 deaths, Female -33 infected with five deaths. Highest rate of mortality- comparable to global data,” it showed.

The report also showed a very high rate of mortality among ages 41- 50 and 51-60.

“Ages 41-50: Male – 570 infected with 15 deaths, Female- 206 infected with four deaths.

Ages 51-60: Male- 364 infected with 27 deaths, Female- I48 infected with three deaths ,” it said.

Meanwhile, 11- 20 years were infected with three deaths and under 10 also were infected at lower rates, with one death which was also a male.

“Same rates by age group, it seems for suspected cases with a total of 27, 365.

“It assumes these are the ones who have been identified during contact tracing and have been isolated, awaiting testing and confirmation.

“Here we also see the demographics,” it added.

The five new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the State are from Warri South (4) and Oshimili North (1) Local Government Areas of the State.

Meanwhile, TNG reports the Warri metropolis, comprising of Warri South, Uvwie and Udu LGAs have recorded 16 COVID-19 cases, becoming the epicentre of the disease in the State.

“We are hoping that with the coming on board of this facility, the capacity of the state’s COVID-19 response team to deal with COVID-19 related issues has been greatly enhanced, he”.
