Satanic cleric rapes three daughters of couple who housed him free for seven years

A Lagos woman on Tuesday stunned an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court that her three daughters, aged 12, nine and seven were serially defiled by a muslim cleric, the family housed free for between seven and eight years

The victim’s mother made the revelation while testifying as the second prosecution witness in the trial of Ibrahim Idris, a 26-year-old cleric, charged with defilement.

The mother of six, who is also married to a cleric while being led in evidence by the state counsel, Mr Gbenga Alagbe, told the court that she knew about the alleged defilement from a teacher in the school her daughters were attending.

“In 2017, I received a call from the teacher of the school my children go to for lessons. The teacher told me that one of my daughters told her something and that she wanted me to hear for myself what she said.

“When we got to the office at the school, my oldest daughter (Daughter A) said that Idris slept with her and her younger sisters.

“I was told by the teacher that earlier while Daughter “A”was being interrogated about the allegations, she ran out of the class.

“A woman had seen her and had taken her back into the school and when she saw a male teacher she was scared because Idris was sleeping with her and anytime she sees a male teacher, she becomes withdrawn and scared ,” the mother said.

The mother said following the revelation, she took her children home from the school and her husband who was not around during that period, arrived two days later on Aug. 11, 2017.

She noted that when the father arrived, the defendant was summoned to their residence.

“We asked him about the allegations and he insisted nothing happened. We took him to the police station for questioning and we were referred to the Mirabel Center at Ikeja for medical examinations.

“I had asked Daughter B (9-years-old) about the allegations and she said it was true, I had asked Daughter A (12-years-old) about the allegations but she was afraid to tell me what happened.

“However, when we got to the police station, Daughter A told me what had happened,” the mother said.

While being cross-examined by the defence counsel, Mr Lekan Ijelu, the woman said the defendant was living with her family when he allegedly committed the crimes.

She noted that he had stopped residing with her family when the allegations came to light.

“He lived with us for seven or eight years. When he was living with us permanently, he used to go for his Islamic classes in the morning around 8am and return around 5pm.

“When he was temporarily residing with us, he used to stay on Fridays till Sundays,” she said.

The mother told the court that there were six adult males including the defendant who had lived in her home with her husband who is also a cleric.

She said she was shocked when she heard the allegations.

“He is a gentle boy. He says the truth all the time and when I’am going out, I leave my kids with him to take care of them for me, I trusted him so much, I was shocked to hear what he did to my daughters,” she said.

Following her evidence, the state prosecutor appealed to the presiding judge to address the woman to ensure that the mother brings her three daughters to court to testify against Ibrahim.

“My lord, the witness said that she did not want to bring her daughters to testify, because she feels it may be traumatic for them,” Alagbe said.

Responding, Justice Sybil Nwaka told the woman that preventing her children from coming to court will amount to the offence of obstruction of justice.

“The children are the victims. They must come to court to testify. This case is not your case, it is the case of the Lagos State Government.

“You reported the case, the children must come to court to testify. That is the process and procedure, if not you will be regarded as a hostile witness and that is an offence,” Justice Nwaka said.

The woman responded: “My lord, I feel it has been a long time. I do not want them to be reminded of what happened.”

Justice Nwaka adjourned the case until March 4 for continuation of trial.

Earlier during proceedings, a medical doctor and first prosecution witness, Dr Oyedeji Alagbe, of the Mirabel Center (a sexual assault referral centre) had interpreted the finding of his medical examinations on the minors.

Alagbe confirmed to the court that medical examination revealed that the three daughters were defiled.

According to the prosecution, Ibrahim committed the offences sometime in 2017 at the complainants home at Agege, Lagos.

“The defendant, Idris, a cleric on various occasions defiled the sisters aged 12, nine and seven-years-old in their home.

“The offence contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos 2015 which prescribes a life sentence for anyone found guilty of the offence of defilement,” Alagbe said

According to village sources, a member of the extended family visited in the morning and noticed that the doors were still locked from inside.

He was said to have knocked severally without any response, a development that heightened his anxiety, thereby attracting the neighbours, who forced the door open.

Spokesperson of the Imo state Police Command Orlando Ikokwu (SP), who confirmed the ugly incident, said the police have commenced investigation into it.

  • Couple fall from 9th floor while making love, woman dies

A woman has been killed after falling from the ninth floor of a block of flats in Russia while having sex, but her partner survived after landing on top of her.
The woman, aged 30, was found dead at the base of an apartment block in St Petersburg on the night of July 5 during what neighbours described as a wild party.
Witnesses said they saw a television thrown from the window of the flat, after which the woman and her 29-year-old lover plunged to the ground below.
The woman landed head-first on the asphalt and died instantly, local media reported, but the man survived after his fall was broken by her body and nearby bushes.
Witnesses told local media that the partially clothed man then got up and went back to rejoin the party.
Police were called, and when they arrived the revellers allegedly threw a mop out of the windows at them.
Initial reports suggested the woman had been killed by the falling TV, but images from the scene clearly show her naked from the waist down.
After interviewing witnesses, investigators concluded that the couple were having sex on a windowsill when they fell.
Two other men were in the flat when the fall happened, but are not thought to have been involved.
A murder investigation has been launched.

‘Korean Wave’ celebrity couple to split, fans mourn

South Korean actors, Song Hye-kyo and Song Joong-ki, are splitting up less than two years after their fairy tale marriage, the couple said on Thursday, shocking fans across Asia.

The co-stars of the 2016 hit television melodrama “Descendants of the Sun” – who played a soldier and doctor who fell in love – planned to seek a divorce due to personality differences.

“I have begun the arbitration process for divorce from Song Hye-kyo,” Song Joong-ki, 33, said in a statement issued by his lawyer.

“Both of us hope to settle the divorce process in a smooth manner, rather than debating wrongdoing and blaming each other,” he added.

Song Hye-kyo, 37, cited differences in personality as the reason for the divorce, her talent agency said in a statement.

The SongSong couple, as they were dubbed by the media, is part of the “Korean Wave” of drama and popular music that has swept through the rest of Asia.

Song Hye-kyo, who first gained fame with a role in the 2000 TV series, “Autumn in My Heart”, was among the guests at a state dinner in Beijing when South Korean President Moon Jae-in visited China in 2017.

Fans rushed to social media to mourn the breakup of what some called the “perfect couple”.

  • Mystery! Couple die 24 hours after attending wedding in Aba

A yet-to-be identified couple has reportedly lost their lives barely 24 hours after they attended a wedding ceremony in Aba, the commercial nerve of Abia State.

According to a report by The Nation, the said incident happened at Umuozu, Uratta community in Osisioma local government area.

When contacted, Abia State Command spokesman, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna said that he was yet to be informed on the incident.

But sources at Uratta that pleaded not to be mentioned said that the couple is from Anambra State.

They disclosed that their maid who is the only survivor is receiving medical attention in an undisclosed private hospital in the city.

The couple were childless. The man has a three storey at Umudim in Osisioma LGA. He is from Anambra State and the secretary of timber dealer’s association.

From what we learnt, the man and the wife chaired a wedding event in Aba and when they were going, they were given a take away pack. We learnt that they went home and ate the food with their maid.

The maid is in the hospital as we speak and has started talking. We hope to hear exactly what happened to the couple when the maid is fit enough to speak.

The neighbours got to know about the death of man and woman when their neighbours in the market complained that they have been calling them while their phones rang without any response.

It was at that point that some of the neigbhours used ladder to climb into the flat of their landlord only to behold their bodies and that of their maid who was eventually taken to the hospital for treatment.

We learnt that the bodies of the couple has been deposited in a mortuary pending an autopsy that would be carried on them to determine whether their death was as a result of food poison as being speculated,” one of the sources narrated.

  • I dreamt my wife died after a fight, kindly separate us before it’s fulfilled – Husband

A 50-year-old machine operator, Franklin Temitayo, has approached an Agege Customary Court in Lagos State seeking the dissolution of what he calls “14-year loveless marriage.”

Franklin, who hails from Ondo town in Ondo State, told the court on Wednesday that there was no more love between him and his wife, Titilayo, whom he described as “an arrogant and insatiable woman.”

The father of three said: “My wife is disrespectful and troublesome; she no longer loves and cares for me as her husband.’’

He told the court that his wife had made his home a living hell for him, alleging that she never gave him peace whenever he returned from work.

“Despite all my efforts to provide and care for the home, she is never appreciative and considerate, as she keeps demanding for more.

“Whenever I give my wife feeding allowance, she diverts the money to her personal use and demands for more money.

“There was a time she held onto my shirt and stopped me from going to work, demanding money from me.

“I try my best to cater for my family to the best of my ability, but my wife is never satisfied, all she cares about is money,” he said.

The petitioner told the court that he was no longer interested in a union with “an abusive, troublesome and rude woman.”

“I moved out of the house out of frustration; I could no longer bear her excesses.

“There was a time I had a dream that we fought and she died in the process.

“I want the court to, therefore, separate us; as I do not want a murder case to hang on my neck. I just want to live comfortably and in peace,” he said.

Titilayo, who hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State, but lives at Iloro area of Agege in Lagos State, however, denied all the allegations levelled against her.

She called her husband “a liar and an irresponsible man.”

“Whenever he was paid salary; he would avoid coming home for days. After I had reported him at his work place, he got angry and stopped working.

“My husband is irresponsible and not caring; he neither gives us feeding allowance nor knows how I pay the children’s school fees.

“My husband abandoned the children and I for four years without looking back, until this year when my mother died.

“He came to visit the children and on that pretext, he took them away.

“He would flare up whenever I asked for money; and over time, this became worrisome and annoying as the burden of feeding the house, paying house rent and school fees became unbearable for me,” she said.

The 34-year-old saleswoman, however, told the court that she would not want her marriage dissolved because of the children.

“I do not want to end the marriage because of the love I have for my children. I do not want them to grow up in separated home,” she said.

She, therefore, urged the court to help her resolve the issues between her and her husband.

The court’s president, Mrs. Patricia Adeyanju, advised the estranged couple to keep the peace and adjourned the case until January 21 for an alternative dispute resolution.

  • Knocks, kudos trail age differences among couples

Age differences between couples had been a subject of debate among Nigerians while some lauded it others described it as a violation of cultural norms.
Some FCT residents told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Friday in Abuja, that the age-gap between couples had tremendous impacts on making or marring relationships.
But Mr Sunny Idowu, a resident in Asokoro extention, married to an older woman, said age difference between couples was inconsequential, as other factors now played more vital role in a relationship.
“ I don’t see age as a factor inhibiting a good relationship between couples, as my wife, who is four years older than I accords me the respect usually deserving of a husband,’’ he said.
Idowu said his decision to marry his wife was borne out of love and the respect she shows him in spite of their age differences.
Similarly, Mr Taiye Benson, a civil servant criticised the discrimination by the society when women marry younger men, while also applauding men for performing similar act.
Benson said his fiancée was a year older than he and that his family was in support of their engagement in spite of that difference.
“It’s sad that the society tend to label a woman that marries a man she is younger than as “sugar mummy’’ (mistress) , while that same society applauds and sees nothing wrong when a man marries a younger woman.’’
Mrs Chioma Eze, a resident in Karu, Nasarawa, said she had been married to her husband who she was seven years older than.
“It has not in any way changed the love, affection and respect we have for each other.
“It took a while before his family accepted me and allowed us to perform the traditional marriage rites and English wedding because they thought I might use my age to control him,’’she said.
On her own part, Miss Jessica Danjuma, a business woman said she cannot marry a man younger that she, as the society will label her “desperate’’.
“I will not give him the respect expected as his wife, because I will always see him as younger, which will definitely affect our relationship and my friends will laugh at me,’’ she said.
Also, Shakwaga Moses, an unemployed graduate said he could not marry an older woman because he would not get all the respect he deserved and might be called names.
“The society will laugh at me and some may even think I married her because of material gains, even if I have more money than she.
“Also, the age difference will definitely show as women look more mature and older than men, particularly when they start giving birth,’’ he said.
Speaking, Mrs Patience David, a marriage counsellor, advised couples to disregard the age factor and channel their energy towards building a good relationship.
“ If couples in age-gap relationship believe their families and friends and the wider community disapproves of their union, it will definitely affect their commitment and the risk of break-up increases.
“ So, I would advise such couples to focus on their relationship and ignore pressures and judgment from outsiders.
“ Also, the society needs to stop condemning such couples and rather encourage them to marry within religious or customary laws so as to reduce the rate of producing `illegitimate’ children,’’she said.

  • Police raid baby factory in Lagos, arrest couple, rescue three pregnant girls

Police raid baby factory in Lagos, arrest couple, rescue three pregnant girls

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a couple for allegedly operating a baby factory.

The couple – Adeola and Binta Adebayo – were arrested on Sunday between 6:10 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. by operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) in Ikeja following a tip-off from a journalist.

According to state Police Commissioner, Edgal Imohimi, the suspects usually harboured young pregnant women at their 1, Treasure Palace Close, off Hand of Fire Bus Stop, Ikotun-Igando Road residence.

Imohimi said the suspects usually sold the children after the young women had been delivered of the babies without the mothers’ consent.

The police commissioner said: “They harboured young pregnant girls until they are delivered of their babies after which these babies are taken from them and sold without the consent of the young mothers.

“During the raid, three young women were rescued. They were – Favour Osikwemeh, 19, (six months pregnant), Precious Emmanuel, 27, (seven months pregnant), and Onome Oputi, 25, (nine months pregnant).

“The victims will be handed over to National Agency for the Prohibition in Persons (NAPTIP) for care while the couple will be handed over for possible prosecution.”

Speaking to journalists, Osikweme said a friend of hers, Lepa, introduced her to the place.

She said: “I was not told it is a baby factory. I was staying with my friend called Lepa when she told me that her place is too small and offered to take me where I will be delivered of my child.

“I have been there since December last year. The woman told my mum that I am working with her but we didn’t negotiate about payment for my child.”

Emmanuel said she was worried after getting pregnant for a foreigner and was introduced to the baby factory by her sister.

“My sister took me to the woman after I was impregnated by a foreigner. The woman then promised to settle me as soon as I was delivered of my baby,” she said.

However, the couple denied the allegation, insisting that they were only assisting the women, who in-turn helped them with their business.

Binta, who also gave her name as Nene Okoro, claimed that one of the three women was her daughter-in-law, who has lived with them for over four years.

She said: “We are not running any baby factory. I have never sold any baby. Two of the three women only help me with my business. I sell wholesale drinks and they assist me.

“The other woman is my daughter-in-law, who has been living with us for over four years. If I sold babies, how come I didn’t sell my two grandchildren she had earlier.

“I believe some neigbours we have land dispute with are trying to frame my husband and I. I am from Abia State but my husband is Yoruba. We are innocent.”
