Premier League champions Manchester City are offering Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo a bumper contract – but do not wish to pay a transfer fee.

Gianlucadimarzio.com reports City are willing to offer Ronaldo a two-year deal worth over £230,000-a-week but do not want to pay Juventus a transfer fee for the Portuguese icon.

The report says the Old Lady want around £25million for the player which would allow them to find a replacement so late in the window.

Juventus reportedly like the idea of taking on City’s Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus in a swap, but manager Pep Guardiola is said to have rebuffed that idea.

Reports across Europe claim Ronaldo, 36, is looking for a new challenge and his agent Jorge Mendes offered him to City last week for £25m.

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly made a contract decision – and it’s bad news for Manchester United.

The Portugal international has one year left on his current deal at Juventus and was expected to leave this summer for one last challenge.

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have been on red alert, with the Old Trafford club even reportedly making contact with their former player to sound him out over a move.

The Red Devils prioritised completing a deal for Jadon Sancho, which they have pretty much got over the line, and are also looking to bring in a world-class centre-back, with Raphael Varane on the shopping list.

But Ronaldo would be the icing on the cake.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, however, the deal doesn’t look like it is ever going to come to fruition as Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes is allegedly in talks with Juventus over a new deal for his client.

The report claims Ronaldo is keen to sign a new one-year contract that will keep him in Turin until 2022.

The director of football at Juventus Federico Cherubini recently doubled down on this suggestion, saying he has heard nothing from the five-time Ballon d’Or winner that he wants out.

“There has been no signal from Ronaldo. Especially the rumours that there should be a transfer and there’s no sign from Juventus in this regard,” said Cherubini.

“Last season he scored 36 goals in 44 games, the numbers don’t always say everything but hide many truths, we are happy that Ronaldo will join the team as soon as he has finished his holidays.

“I don’t have the crystal ball, but right now there are no signals regarding a possible transfer.”

Cristiano Ronaldo was on the score-sheet as European champions Portugal beat Israel 4-0 on Wednesday in their final warm-up for the defence of their title.

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes bagged twice as Ronaldo and Joao Cancelo added for a comfortable win in Lisbon.

Ronaldo’s 44th minute strike was his 104th international goal in 175 matches, and leaves him five short of the record held by Iran’s Ali Daei.

Portugal are in the tricky looking Group F at the Euros with Hungary their first opponent on June 15 before they take on Germany four days later and then the reigning World Cup holders France June 23.

Cristiano Ronaldo pens down emotional message days after Juventus exit Champions League

Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo has put out a heartfelt Instagram post in reaction to criticism after his side’s surprise exit from the UEFA champions league round of 16 by Portuguese side FC Porto.

Ronaldo joined the Old Lady from Real Madrid in 2018 for a €100 million transfer fee, which included an additional €12 million in other fees, and has found the back of the net 92 times in 121 games across all competitions.

Regardless of this impressive performance, the Portuguese forward has been unable to replicate this feat in the champions league for the Italian Seria-A holders, a tournament that has almost elevated him to go-like status.

The 36-year-old took to his Instagram handle to send out a message that read:

“More important than the number of falls you take in life, is how fast and how strong you get back on your feet… True champions never break.”

“It’s true that the past belongs in museums (I should say!), but fortunately, football has memory… and so do I! History can’t be deleted, it’s written every single day with resilience, team spirit, persistence and lots of hard work.”

“And those who don’t understand this will never achieve glory and success.” the post also read.

The Italian media had been heavily critical of the 2-time Ballon d’Or winner after the champions league exit indicating the Juventus star “betrayed” Juventus.

Former England and Russia national team coach, Fabio Capello called it an “unforgivable mistake”, while club legend Nicola Amoruso suggested the forward was “afraid of receiving a ball in the face because he cares about his image”,

Despite these claims, Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo claimed responsibility for assigning Ronaldo and Morata to the wall

He however maintained that the real problem was that his players “underestimated the danger” of Oliveira’s shot, which was taken at a great distance from the goal.

“An error was committed and unfortunately when you make mistakes like these in the Champions League Round of 16 you pay for them,” Pirlo said.

Ronaldo offered to Barca in move to join Messi

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been offered to Barcelona in a sensational move that would see him play alongside Lionel Messi.

With the Serie A champions hit hard financially by the Covid-19 pandemic, the club is looking to get rid of Ronaldo’s mammoth contract and have contacted Barcelona about their interest, according to Spanish journalist Guillem Balague.

He told 5 Live Sport: ‘He’s been offered everywhere, including Barcelona. I’m not sure if they can get rid of him easily with the kind of money he earns. Who is going to pay that kind of money?’

Ronaldo was Juve’s top scorer during the recent season with 35 goals in all competitions.

Ronaldo rescues Juventus in ‘robbery’ against Atalanta

Cristiano Ronaldo converted two penalty kicks, both awarded for handballs and the second in the last minute on Saturday, as Serie A leaders Juventus twice hit back to draw 2-2 with Atalanta.

The draw helped the defending champions to move closer to a ninth successive Serie A title.

The Portuguese forward took his league tally to 28 goals this season as Juventus went eight points clear of second-placed Lazio with six matches to play.

Atalanta are a further point back in third after being denied a tenth successive league win.

Both handballs were clearly accidental but, under the current rules, referee Piero Giacomelli had no option but to award the penalty kicks.

However, it was rough justice on Atalanta.

The team, which leads Serie A in scoring, would have climbed into second place and cut the gap between themselves and Juventus to six points if they had won.

Juventus, humbled 4-2 at AC Milan on Tuesday, dropped Miralem Pjanic but were quickly forced onto the back foot by a typically audacious Atalanta side.

Duvan Zapata put the visitors ahead in the 16th minute.

An intricate exchange of passes with Alejandro Gomez opened up the Juventus defence before the Colombian slotted his shot past Wojciech Szczesny.

The visitors continued to pen Juventus into their half, enjoying 58 percent possession and five shots to the home team’s one before half-time.

They however went on to fall foul of the handball rule 10 minutes after the break.

Paulo Dybala fired a cross against Marten de Roon’s elbow.

Although it was at point-blank range and the Dutchman’s arm was close to his chest, the referee immediately pointed to the penalty kick spot.

Ronaldo smashed home the penalty kick, scoring for the sixth game in a row.

The game opened up, with Atalanta regaining the lead in the 81st minute when Luis Muriel sent a pass across the face of the penalty area to Ruslan Malinovskyi.

He took it in his stride before firing a right foot shot past Szczesny.

But lightning struck a second time for Atalanta when Gonzalo Higuain got his foot to a corner kick and deflected the ball onto Muriel’s hand.

The Colombian did not have time to get his hand out of the way but, as it was outstretched, the penalty kick had to be given and Ronaldo converted in the 90th minute.

Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo overtook Rui Costa to become the leading Portuguese scorer in Serie A history on Monday.

Ronaldo slotted a first-half penalty down the middle in Juve’s 2-0 win over Bologna, a result that saw the Bianconeri move four points clear at the top of the table.

The goal was Ronaldo’s 22nd in Serie A this season, one more than the 21 he managed in his debut campaign in Turin following his move from Real Madrid in 2018.

Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo is fed-up with the management of coach Maurizio Sarri, it has been revealed.

Corriere della Sera says there’s growing tension between the pair.

Ronaldo is unhappy with Sarri’s tactics and was left angry after their Coppa Italia final defeat to Napoli on Wednesday night.

Juve’s board are aware of the frustration of Ronaldo and are considering Sarri’s position.

The return of Max Allegri has been considered, with PSG also an option for the former Juve coach.

    Cristiano Ronaldo sister slams Sariball

Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister Elma Aveiro has taken aim at Maurizio Sarri after Juventus lost the Coppa Italia final against Napoli on penalties.

Gennaro Gattuso’s side triumphed after a goalless 90 minutes in which Sarri’s men struggled to carve out any clear chances, while Napoli were unlucky not to score a winner late in the game.

The defeat was the first time Ronaldo has ever lost consecutive finals in his career with the Portugal forward criticised for his performance by Luca Toni.

Elma has however leaped to her brother’s defence on social media as she seemingly slammed Sarri’s tactics and pleaded for Ronaldo’s Juventus teammates to step up.

“What more can you do? My love, you can’t do miracles on your own,” she wrote on Instagram.

“I can’t understand how you can play like that. Anyway, keep your head up, you can’t do anymore.”

  • PSG star Mbappe reveals three players as his idols

Kylian Mbappe has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar are his main idols, insisting the superstar trio have inspired him to reach the very highest level of the game.

Mbappe has enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence since bursting on the scene with Monaco as a teenager in the 2016-17 season.

He earned a big-money move to Paris Saint-Germain after helping Monaco to win the Ligue 1 title, and has gone on to establish himself as one of the top players in Europe .

Mbappe says he looks up to Messi and Ronaldo, and says he also admired PSG team-mate Neymar for many years before linking up with the Brazilian at Parc des Princes.

“I have a lot of idols, there was Cristiano, who I loved a lot. And during this period of time, we have had Cristiano and Messi,” Mbappe said during a Q&A session on beIN Sports .

“I have the chance to play with Neymar, who I admired a lot when I was young. They are the players I admired a lot.

“When you have the chance to play at the top, you need inspiration from the best. Each one has his own style and strength, but they reached the top, so it’s inspiring everybody.

“So there is no reason for it to not inspire me as well, and we make our own way to reach the top.”
