“The convention remains one of the best I have personally witnessed in my over 40 years of political career.

“The presidential primary was peaceful, transparent and clean, devoid of ethno-religious and sectional sentiments.

“APC did not implode as predicted by nay sayers and other people who had predicted that we would disintegrate at the end of the convention.

“The convention had a marvelous and excellent outcome, as we hoisted the national unity flag in the presidential primary convention.

“While our party’s presidential flag bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu won as a pan Nigerian candidate and not on sectional or ethno-religious inclinations,” he said.

Okechukwu also commended Tinubu and every member of APC for a well deserved victory at the convention.

“I must also commend northern governors and political stakeholders who insisted that the rotation convention between the north and south should be maintained in order to engender national unity,” he added.

“He came here and in the beginning it was all good. Then he came back from injury, he caught Covid.

“Is there any question about his quality or whatever? He showed it for the last few years. It is just a matter of time.”

Speaking in Abu Dhabi, where Chelsea are aiming to be crowned world champions and face Al Hilal today, he said: “If you look at some teams we are playing against, they play in a back five.

“He is by himself against three defenders. Is that not hard? It doesn’t matter who you are, if you have three defenders of course it is hard to find your space.

“He makes an action against one, but the other one is coming as well. He also needs his space for his runs.

“It is really difficult at a time when we play football right now. It is hard.

“I think everybody in the squad (can help him), not only me.

“I think there is still a lot of space to improve.”

I don’t have time to explain myself anymore – 2face

Nigerian pop star, 2face Idibia has said he no longer has the time to explain reasons for his actions like in the past.

The music star’s reaction comes amid strings of issues that have rocked his marriage in the past two months.

TheNewsGuru recalls that 2face’s trouble started in September when Annie Idibia, his wife, called him out for allegedly spending nights with Pero Adeniyi, one of his baby mamas, under the guise of seeing his children.

Annie later apologised to her husband for acting “on something that’s wasn’t true” and throwing the marriage into danger.

But just when peace appeared to have returned to the singer’s family, Pero shared a screenshot of a message sent to Justin Idibia, her son, on Instagram.

In the post, the Instagram user had asked Justin to plead with Pero to stay away from people’s homes — an action condemned by 2Baba.

Shortly after Pero shared the post, some users had claimed that Annie was behind it.

2Baba, however, rose to her defence, while cursing those attempting to link her to the incident.

He had also shared Annie’s picture on his Instagram page with a terse post which reads “My queen.”

His action amid the ensuing drama has continued to provoke mixed reactions on social media platforms.

However, in a post via his Instagram Stories on Thursday, the ‘African Queen’ crooner said critics can believe whatever they hear about him.

“Whatever you heard about me, please believe it. I no longer have time to explain myself. You can add some if you want,” he wrote.

  • Keyamo tackles Nigerians who criticised Buhari’s zero tolerance for rebels

Keyamo tackles Nigerians who criticised Buhari’s zero tolerance for rebels

Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus keyamo has lambasted critics who are against President Muhammadu Buhari’s order of a fierce crackdown on rising violence in the southeast that has included arson attacks on police station and electoral offices.

Keyamo said elites who were silent when their region was “on fire” are not fit to teach President Muhammadu Buhari how to do his job.

Recall the president had on Monday, said persons behind the attacks on public facilities will “soon have the shock of their lives”.

He had also said those “misbehaving in certain parts of the country” are oblivious of the destruction and tragedy that came in the wake of the Nigerian Civil War, adding that “those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand.”

The president’s statement was trailed by mixed reactions, but Keyamo in a series of tweets backed Buhari’s threats to rebels, saying those against the stance of the federal government were happy about the destruction of public structures.

“I hope some elites who couldn’t find their voices to rein in their wards when their region burnt, will not suddenly find their voices against Mr. President! Those who screamed that it’s Mr. The President’s duty to maintain law & order should NOT try to teach him how to do his job now,” Keyamo tweeted, attaching the president’s statement.

“The anger some are displaying against the President’s resolve to be decisive in dealing with these scoundrels is an indication of their support for the destruction of public infrastructure because they want to cripple Govt. A pure case of cutting your nose to spite your face!

“A very unfortunate reasoning you read is that because insurgency is still prevalent in some other parts of the country, the President should just allow some villains destroy another region. It’s like a competition to bring the insecurity in one region at par with other regions!

  • Wail less, hail Buhari more in 2021, Femi Adesina tells critics

Wail less, hail Buhari more in 2021, Femi Adesina tells critics

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina on Friday advised critics of President Muhammadu Buhari to reduce wailing in 2021 and hail the President’s efforts.

Adesina said this in an article titled, ‘2021: Year to Calm Down and Wail Less’ which was published on Thursday.

The President’s spokesman said he gave Buhari’s critics the nickname ‘wailers’ because they were fond of criticising him even to the point of absurdity.

He noted that the President’s critics had proudly accepted the nickname while Buhari’s supporters were called hailers.

Adesina added that 2021 would be a year of hard work in order to meet the infrastructural developments deadline of 2022 and Nigerians should therefore criticise less and give the government more support.

The President’s spokesman added, “2021 is the year of work, hard work, to deliver on the major projects by next year. Is it then a year to continue wailing? No. It is the year to calm down, a year for wailing wailers to find a vocation, and allow government to concentrate, and deliver on projects at hand.

“Anybody who loves the country must resolve to give government as less distraction as possible this year. Yes, there are challenges: security, economy, improving quality of lives, lack of jobs, inflation and many others. But is it the year to wail? No. We should rather hail, encourage government to do better, and engender better standards of living for Nigerians.”

Adesina said some critics fail to acknowledge Buhari’s achievements even when for instance they hop on the trains inaugurated by his regime.

He added, “So, what am I saying. No criticism in 2021? No. But let it not be a full time vocation, as it has been with some people. They will criticize the rail project of the government, calling it white elephant, but will be the first to hop on the trains, taking selfies in it. Wailers, calm down.

“Please, ‘be calming down’ in 2021, so that government can function with less distractions. It is not the year to cavil, find unnecessary faults, and fill the land with lamentations.”

The President’s aide despite 2020 being the year of the COVID-19 pandemic, rather than blame the economic crunch on the drop in oil price, wailers blamed Buhari.

He, however, boasted that in the midst of the unfavourable economy, the Federal Government didn’t owe anyone salary or pension.

Adesina stated, “But in the midst of the challenges, with earnings at about one quarter of what we used to receive as a country, President Buhari gave a charge to the Minister of Finance: salaries and pensions must not fail, and funding of agriculture and infrastructure must not stop.

“How admirable. What other evidence did you need to know that it was an administration that had come to serve, and not to be served? In the same situation, in another era, those in government would be lining their pockets, looting whatever was available, to provide for themselves and their families, against the rainy day. Buhari picked salaries, pensions, funding of agriculture and infrastructure.”

  • Insult me all you want, I don’t care!, Oyedepo tells critics

Insult me all you want, I don’t care!, Oyedepo tells critics

Presiding Bishop, Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo on Tuesday said he does not care if anybody insults him or not, saying such people are wasting their time.

Oyedepo received lots of Bashing on Monday for attacking the Federal Government and rejecting the Companies and Allied Matters Act, CAMA, that gives the supervising minister the power to remove the board of trustees of churches without recourse to the court.

Oyedepo had said, “In the document, they said the registrar-general can remove the trustees without recourse to the court. Don’t try it. This must be from somebody who woke up from the wrong side of the bed after dreaming. The person must have drafted that aspect in the bill as their custom is.

“I am 51 years old in this thing (Christianity), don’t try it. I have been with Jesus for some time and I am sent as a prophet to nations. That a minister can remove the trustees and close the accounts of the church is.”

Many Nigerians bashed Oyedepo for his comment.

But Oyedepo, on Tuesday said “I told you, if I ever preach a message where there is no laughter, don’t listen to it. I’ve been laughing like this since 1976 till forever. Since I found Matthew 6:33, I’ve been laughing at the devil, smiling as I serve. You insult me, I enjoy it. You insult me and I stopped going to work because you insulted me, I will be a big fool.

“I am going to work and you say, “see his leg.” Yes, I thank God for my leg. “See his nose.’ He (God) made it and He did it beautifully. “See how short he is.” That’s the size He made me for so I can save more cloths.

“He that sitteth in Heaven shall laugh (Psalm 2:4). If you are not laughing, you are not one of them sitting in Heaven because in Heaven, he that sits there laughs and we are seated in Heavenly places, what should we do? Laugh
    As you serve: laugh

“As they insult you: laugh; As they mock you: laugh; As they abuse you: laugh. Anybody insulting me is wasting his mouth: I didn’t hear (the insult). Even if I heard it, it won’t pain me. Anybody praising me is just expressing his opinion.

“I didn’t hear it and if I heard, it won’t blow my head because if you praise anything in me, it is Jesus. The greater in me is the One you are praising and you think I’m the one. Thank God for the privilege of stewardship. Ask God for grace to maximize this awesome season in your life. God is changing people’s stories, He has you in mind.”
