Foluke Daramola rain curses on fan over funds siphoning allegation

Nollywood actress, Foluke Daramola has debunked allegations that she siphoned funds donated to her foundation to support Yoruba movie veterans in need of financial help.

On Thursday, one of her followers on Instagram had taken to the comment section of a post by the actress to make the claims, citing an unverified post she read on another page.

In the curse-laden post, the user had called on the movie star to “do the needful with the money if she does not want to die” while also tagging her a “husband snatcher.”

But in her response, Daramola debunked her accuser’s claims while cursing her for attempting to smear her name.

The actress also explained that she does not accept donations from anybody to support her foundation as claimed, adding that she only gives out her hard-earned money.

“May God punish you for the stupid comment you just wrote except someone is giving me money on what I am doing. If not, your whole generation will die miserably before the end of this year…,” she wrote.

Subsequently, Daramola spoke in an Instagram video wherein she enjoined the public to disregard the claims.

“I’m going to put some things straight for the last time. I did not collect money from anybody. I run my foundation from my own money. Those who claim otherwise should come forward with their evidence and if they don’t have it, they should desist from posting stupid messages because the wrath of God will fall on you,” she said.

“I don’t have business with anybody. What I’m doing, I’m doing it because it’s what I love to do. How much am I even giving them for Christ sake that people are accusing me of collecting money? I give as little as N5,000 and N10,000 to old people depending on what I have with me at the time.”

#EndSARS: I now receive curses, threats daily on my mobile phones – Femi Adesina

The Special Adviser to the President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has revealed that he has been receiving curses and messages from Nigerians due to false reports made about his stands on #EndSARS protest.

Adesina, who is President Buhari’s spokesman, in an article titled, ‘An Enemy of the People’ published on Thursday evening said a report was made that he was against the #EndSARS protests and accusing him of telling the President to ignore the protests and not give in to the demands of ‘Twitter warriors’.

“The first salvo came on Sunday from a suicide fake journalist who plies his trade with an online rag called Peoples Gazette. He published that President Muhammadu Buhari was to have approved the dissolution of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) the previous Friday, but had been prevailed upon not to do so by his spokesman, Femi Adesina. That happens to be me, and the information was coming to me as a piece of virulent, hateful news.

“Again, the hatchet job masquerading as a news item , added that I convinced the President not to ever surrender the sovereignty of government to ‘Twitter warriors,’ whatever that means.

“Further, it said because of my anti-people convictions, I had issued a statement against the EndSARS protesters, which had received wide condemnation from the general public,” he wrote.

The President’s spokesman said someone went ahead to post his telephone numbers on social media which led to him receiving calls and hate messages.

Adesina stated that he received a second round of attacks when an old interview he had granted Channels Television on the ‘Revolution Now’ protests was twisted to make it appear as if he was referring to the #EndSARS protests.

The President’s spokesman thanked Channels TV for clarifying the interview but said despite the move by the television station, the attacks did not stop.

He wrote, “Those who wanted to, believed the television station. A large number chose not to, and bombarded my phone lines with curses, expletives, and messages from the pit of hell. Well, if anybody chooses to belong to that nether region, it’s a matter of choice.

“Talking about the bombardment of my phone lines, it had begun on Sunday. A hateful mind had published my two numbers on Twitter, urging people to troll me. They called till the phone batteries went dead. Mum was the word from me.”

Adesina said he never advised the President to ignore the #EndSARS protests rocking the nation.

He stated that the online medium that published the report did not give him a chance to respond to the allegations thereby opening him to attacks.

Adesina claimed many people hated him because they were envious of his position as the President’s spokesman.

  • I pray Nigerians won’t place curses on APC for dashing their hopes soon – Oyegun

I pray Nigerians won’t place curses on APC for dashing their hopes soon – Oyegun

The immediate past national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has said going by recent developments unfolding in the party, Nigerians might curse the party and its leaders for their hopes despite its rigorously campaigns of change in 2015.

Oyegun however called for the invocation of the doctrine of necessity that would provide for institution of a caretaker committee to resolve the ongoing leadership crisis in the ruling party.

He made the call on Saturday in Abuja in a statement titled: “Before it is too late”.

Odigie-Oyegun who expressed concern over the recent leadership crisis rocking the party said, “there is a most urgent need for the party National Executive Committee (NEC) to meet and institute for the party a Caretaker Committee (even if we have to invoke the doctrine of necessity), whose main responsibility will be to arrange for a special National Convention.”

The former national chairman then urged President Muhammad Buhari, who is the leader of the party to rise up to the current crisis bedeviling the party, stressing that the President cannot allow the struggle to enshrine progressive government and the achievements of his administration to be eroded by leadership crisis of the party.

“As former National Chairman of the party, I remain proud of the great strides of our government, under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari. However, I am afraid to note that the legacy of a government is defined mostly by its politics rather than its achievements in other areas, no matter how lofty those achievements are.

“Our recent history bears enough testimony to this reality. The military government of President Ibrahim Babangida is today remembered mainly for the June 12, 1993 elections and its aftermath. Our own political party, the APC, is fast becoming the single most dangerous threat to the legacy of our government and our President,” Oyegun warned.

Recalling the sacrifices made for the formation of the party Odigie-Oyegun said, “when we decided in 2012 to build a political coalition of progressives, we were driven by a deep sense of patriotism to rescue our country and a strong commitment to salvage our democracy.

“We believed at the time that the ship of our country was headed for the rocks. Therefore, the significant progressive opposition parties and indeed all men and women of goodwill joined forces, not only to bring it back on course but also to set it on a completely different trajectory that would restore the hopes of our people and make every Nigerian proud of this great country again.

“We approached Nigerians with the promise of change that resonated widely across the country. Based on our promise of change, the people voted against the ruling party in a collective political action that was unprecedented in our nation’s history. Never before had our people’s hopes been so raised. It is my fervent prayers that in a few years from now, we do not look back and say never before have a people’s hope been so dashed.

“In the last few months we have watched how the party has brazenly subverted its own principles of internal democracy and flagrant violation of every rule of decent political engagement in a manner that makes everyone associated with its promise of change liable to be accused of either hypocrisy or apostasy.

“We must therefore remember that our victory in the 2015 Presidential elections and the peaceful transfer of power that followed was a major testament of progress in our nation’s journey towards real democracy. This unprecedented democratic achievement has since inspired progressive forces all over Africa and has become a standard by which democracy is measured in the rest of the continent.

“Unfortunately, it appears that while other countries around us have marched ahead in the democratic journey, we have largely regressed. Because we were the political party that benefitted from a system that offered the opposition a chance, everyone expected us to show unwavering dedication to broaden the democratic space for everyone; to ensure that equity and justice take precedence over all other considerations and to ensure that our party truly functions as the vehicle for aggregating and managing contending political interests. Unfortunately, what we have witnessed from our party is the steady erosion of even the very basic tenets of democratic principles in a manner that could turn our watershed victory of 2015 to the waterloo of our hard won democracy.

“As a major stakeholder and as a founding member of the All Progressives Congress, I have made various efforts to add my voice to those of several other well-meaning leaders of the party, in ensuring that the ideals and principles that we fought for are not completely thrown overboard. However, I have come to realise that those who feel more entitled to the party are no longer capable of hearing alternative viewpoints other than those counselled by their ego and their self-serving interests, which they have promoted over all other considerations, including that of common decency. Yet, no political party will survive for long, which is unwilling to accommodate competing ideas and provide the space for healthy debates.

“This statement is therefore a clarion call to leaders of the party, particularly the Governors and Mr. President to urgently bring a stop to the disgraceful and humiliating charade occurring within the National Secretariat of our great party.”

  • My wife uses her private part to invoke curses on me, Pastor tells court

Pentecostal Pastor, Bernard Towoju, has urged an Igando Customary Court, Lagos, to dissolve his marriage to his wife, Abosede, for allegedly using her private part to invoke curses on him.

Mr. Towoju, 53, said in his divorce petition on Monday that “I cannot continue to make love with a woman who always goes naked and swears for me with her private part”.

According to him, Abosede is stubborn, wayward and troublesome.

“She once came to my office to fight me and tore my clothes in the presence of my colleagues. We fight on daily basis and hurt each other a lot.

“We always land in the police station after our fight, in fact, we are regular customers at the station,’’ he said.

The petitioner accused his wife of threatening his life, adding that his wife always hit him with dangerous weapons whenever they quarreled.

“I had to run away from the house I built 10 years ago to rent an apartment for safety.

“She chased me with cutlass, bottles and sticks; our neighbours can testify to that.

“I am afraid, I cannot sleep under the same roof with her with my two eyes closed,” he said.

He begged the court to dissolve the marriage that the love he once had for her had faded and he could no longer tolerate her ill-nature and troubles.

The respondent, Abosede, a fashion designer, accused her husband of calling her a witch.

“He said everywhere he went for solution to his problems, they always tell him that I am behind his predicament.

“My hands are clean; I know nothing about his woes.

“Towoju abandoned me and the children 10 years ago, I have been taking care of the children,” the 46-year-old woman added.

The mother of four urged the court not to grant her husband’s request for the dissolution of the marriage, saying “I still love him”.

In his judgment, the court President, Akin Akinniyi, said the petitioner was adamant despite all mediation from the court and family.

“Since the petitioner insisted on divorce after several interventions, the court has no choice than to dissolve the union in spite of the fact that the wife still claims she loves her husband.

“The court pronounced the marriage between Pastor Bernard Towoju and Mrs Abosede Towoju dissolved today, both parties henceforth ceased to be husband and wife.

“Both are free to go their separate ways without any hindrances and molestation,” Akinniyi ruled.
