  • ‘Dammy Krane unveils Aiye Miami’

    ‘Dammy Krane unveils Aiye Miami’

“The pressure on entertainers, especially the young ones is unimaginably enormous. Born into a nation where money is king doesn’t help either. Young people, please don’t bow to societal pressure to conform, be yourself, money is not the only currency you can spend so don’t engage in fraudulent activities to get it”. These are the words of Nigerian controversial on air personality, Daddy Freeze on Dammy Krane’s arrest.

The aforesaid quote by Daddy Freeze captures a whole lot about the bubbly singer, Dammy Krane, who apart from recently been a headline-grabber in the news following his arrest in Miami over credit card fraud has figuratively unveiled the unsung song [Let’s title it, ‘Aiye Miami’] about the ugly actions some of our highly praised celebs indulge in while supposedly chasing fame.

Many of us his fans were shocked on Friday night, when the Amin singer said he is going to release a new song triggered by his Miami jail experience.

The truth is, people often underestimate how intense the spotlight is on these celebrities, and how often times the pressure of getting fame at all cost pushes them to vices.

Famous people have to constantly monitor their behavior in order to avoid negative publicity, which takes over most newsstands across Nigeria today and trends on social media.

The pressure that society puts on these celebrities often makes or breaks them, causing many to step a little too far outside the box, and become shadows of themselves . One mistake can ruin a star’s public image, and essentially their career.

If Krane’s cloud clears, the talented singer will surely still love to return to music. It is going to be arduous but not impossible. He must be willing to withstand the heat, If he desires to savage the ugly situation.

Here are three things Dammy Krane might do to bounce back.

    1. Dammy Krane will need to grant a tell-all interview

Just like Tiwa Savage did during her marital crisis, Krane will need to win the heart of his fans by sharing the true story behind his arrest giving concise details of the saga. Truth is that the Nigerian music industry forgives mistakes easily. Big Brother Naija’s Kemen is an example. After the controversial ‘Drama’ between himself and TBoss and his subsequent apology, we have moved on like nothing happened. Even AY in his joke subtly told Nigerians to forgive him.

    1. Unveil Aiye Miami

Truth is Dammy Krane cannot escape being criticized, but he has to learn to leverage on the bad publicity in order to remain relevant. As soon as he is out of prison and the case resolved, he will need to release a new song aptly titled Aiye Miami, where he will share the true tale of his Miami experience and project lessons he has learned from the episode via the song

    1. Start a campaign cum NGO

Just like Tonto Dike and Mercy Aigbe who now campaign against domestic violence, Dammy Krane will need to start a campaign encouraging Nigerians to embrace the dignity of labour and to shun get rich quick schemes that will contaminate their lives and destinies. This will launder his already mired image

It is no longer news that Dammy Krane has been arrested by police in the United States for credit card fraud and related charges. Hours after his arrest became public discourse, tweets rolled out from his Twitter handle claiming there are three sides to the story and even promising fans “new material” where he plans to share his own side of the story.

Social media has been rife with different reactions from Nigerian celebs on the Dammy Krane credit card saga.

Nigerian OAP Freeze wrote on Instagram:”This gentleman is a good person. One of the most respectful young people I know. One mistake doesn’t define him. The pressure on entertainers, especially the young ones is unimaginably enormous. Born into a nation where money is king doesn’t help either. Young people, please don’t bow to societal pressure to conform, be yourself, money is not the only currency you can spend so don’t engage in fraudulent activities to get it!” he said

An Insider who prefers anonymity said there is no hope for him again. In his words: “He never quite broke in to the industry. He can’t be described as an A-list artiste, he doesn’t even count as B-list, so there’s no hope for him again, in my opinion. Add the struggle to blow to this huge scandal, people will surely steer clear from him and his music.”

Popular eclectic Nigerian OAP and hype-man Dotun wrote on Twitter:” I have always loved this Kid Dammy Krane. I have spoken to him on many occasions. I feared for him a lot, I cannot believe it”.

For self -proclaimed Omo Baba Olowo Davido, he simply asserted that Dammy Krane should be set free. He took to his snapchat and wrote:” Free Dammy Krane . God gat you”.

Daughter of Fuji maestro KWAM 1, Dami Marshall wrote:”Dami is an extremely honest person and he is a good citizen. He just happened to be a victim of circumstance.Dami i0s a sweet and kind young man. Dami is too young for all these harsh comments”.

Nigerian male Barbie and bleaching advocate, Bobrisky surprisingly had something to say on the issue. He wrote on Snapchat:”Everyone is a sinner the only difference is that we sin differently. May God touch the heart of those who arrested him”.

Tipsy Enupo, a Nigerian female rapper and also a friend to Dammy Krane took to her Instagram page to express her thoughts on the Dammy Krane saga. She wrote: “We are all sinners.. We all sin differently. The internet has given the opportunity to people to voice baseless opinions, pass harsh unrealistic judgments about situations they have no idea about. Most of you guys have yahoo boys as your inspiration, when they dash you money, you don’t question them.

“And I hope this is clear I don’t have a problem with whatever anyone does to survive. On the other hand, I am neither encouraging fraud. Some of you are quick to attack entertainers accusing them of living beyond their means.. Excuse me, most of you curse artistes who don’t dress well, have a good car, compare them to the rich ones. The societal pressure you put on artistes to look a certain way, dress a certain way, have a certain lifestyle is the reason why people will continue to fake it till they make it.If you ever liked Dammy krane, pray for him. To the artistes coming online posting subliminal messages at him. I hope that when they are giving you that gold chain anddesigner shoe you can reject it and say Baba this money no pure, I no fit collect”.

    “Buy your tickets yourself.

“Ensure by prior verification that your ticket and hotel reservations match the purchaser’s info.

“How? By declining emergency arrangements that do not give up to 24 to 48 hours to allow you call the airlines and hotels for verifications. Remember to always give the option for promoters or show organizers to buy all bookings and must accompany with the booking profiles: the names used for bookings, and phone numbers must match your designated or named offers, or they will need to send the cash in their verifiable names to your business account.

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has given a timely counsel to Dammy Krane following his arrest. The singer has been charged to court for a 9-count charge, after he was detained in Miami, United States for grand theft and credit card forgery.
