Simi berates air host over comment on daughter

Outspoken singer, Simi has berated a flight attendant who she claimed gave a ‘fake’ compliment to her daughter.

The mother of one made this known in a Twitter post on Thursday.

According to her, the host made a gesture towards her daughter which she tagged as fake.

“This air host guy really did one fake aww for Deja. Is it by force to say aw for baby. I did not greet you. She did not greet you. Why you fake aww my daughter. God save you I’m working on myself. Ko ko aw buruku danu. It’s aww but your eyes are not smiling. Bastard,” she wrote.

During a recent Instagram live session monitored by TheNewsGuru, Simi said she wants women to get what they deserve.

“There were some ideas about women that were not very useful for women but I felt like it would be good to use my sound to speak out for my people (women.) The funny thing is that I expected more backlash and attacks after I dropped the song. But I am genuinely surprised that people are receptive to the song. I think that people are more open to the discussions especially if one is privileged in life. I had an interview a few days ago and the interviewer asked me “Do you hate men?” I replied that I don’t think I have ever said or done anything that insinuates that I hate men, I don’t have any reason to hate men. I simply want better things for women; I just want women to have what they deserve. I may not be able to change the world today or tomorrow but I am hoping that it can be a part of the steps that we are going to take to (get to) that point. Obviously, things used to be worse than this but thankfully we have more women now that are more outspoken than in the past.

“I think it is hard to get acknowledgement as a woman, firstly some people do not even expect that one would be good, some people question one’s talent compared to the male counterpart. But it is like as a woman one is undermined and will have to work extra hard to get half the things that men have. Honestly, it is exhausting especially when one is speaking out and nothing is changing. By the grace of God, I have got a level of success but there are some women who haven’t. They are still trying to find their path, who would speak and fight for them because their voices are not that loud? But if one is talking, people think one is talking too much if it is something that makes them uncomfortable, but if it is something they like or they agree with, they will support you. However, I think it has become a little bit easier but I know a lot of female artiste that are still waiting for their break. We are not halfway there.”

Baba Ijesha: Princess’ daughter recounts how Nollywood actor allegedly defiled her

A 14-year-old minor (name withheld), on Wednesday, in a video played during proceedings at an Ikeja Special Offences Court said that Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James alias Baba Ijesha, told her he was her boyfriend.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the video was a taped recording of the child forensic interview conducted on May 15 by Mrs Olabisi Ajayi-Kayode, a child expert and the Executive Director of the Cece Yara Foundation.

The video was played during the cross-examination of Ajayi-Kayode by the defence counsel. Mr Babatunde Ogala (SAN).

The child, during the interview, described the interaction she had with the 49-year-old embattled actor on April 19 when she met him at her foster mother’s home.

He was invited following revelations that he had defiled her seven-years ago and unknown to him, a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) camera had been set up in the home.

The minor in the interview said when Baba Ijesha came into the home, he initially acted like he was having a phone conversation and that the defendant began checking the apartment to know whether anyone was home before he approached her.

“He said you’re a smart young girl, my baby. Do you have a boyfriend? I said no and he said since you do not have a boyfriend now that you’re much more mature, you’re now mine, I am your boyfriend.

“He said I used to teach you some things when you were small. I asked him what things so that I could record him with my phone.

“My phone was under the throw pillow because I thought he wanted to confess to what he did seven-years ago but I was unable to record him.

“He said don’t you remember, me and you used to play together, I used to teach you some things when you were small. Me and you had a contract and I asked him what contract?

“He asked me to sit on his legs and I said no and he said you that when you were small you were not afraid. Now you’re afraid,” the minor said in the interview.

The child told Ajayi-Kayode that Baba Ijesha during the April 19 incident, began touching her sexually and he had asked her to bring him some water.

“When I went to the kitchen he also followed me and it was at this point that my mother and the other men (CCTV company staff) came in,” she said.

Earlier, the minor narrated to Ajayi-Kayode what transpired when the Nollywood actor allegedly defiled her seven-years ago.

She said that the first incident occurred when Baba Ijesha came to visit her sick foster mother when she was a seven-year old. She said she was sitting on the carpet watching cartoons while he sat on the couch.

She said the defendant asked her to remove her underwear and that he brought out his private part and asked her to wriggle her waist while sitting on his laps.

“My concentration was on the cartoon I was watching, I couldn’t remember how long I was on his laps before I felt some wetness.

“He cleaned himself with a handkerchief and he asked me to clean myself up and I went to the bathroom to clean myself up with a towel,” she said.

The minor said that the defendant told her not to tell anyone about what transpired between them.

The child told Ajayi-Kayode that next day, Baba Ijesha came to her home with some fruits for her foster mother and she was asked to pick up the fruits from his car.

“The car was parked at a T-junction and there was a wall and a gutter there and no one was on the other side.

“The fruits were on the back seat and he opened the door in front and asked me to take the fruits.

“When I stretched to pick the fruits from the back seat, he put the car keys into my private part and at the same time he was trying to kiss me.

“After this incident, I did not see him again until seven-years later,” she said.
During the interview, the child expert gave the minor a male and a female doll to depict how the defendant allegedly molested her seven-years ago.

The child gave a demonstration of how the molestation happened to the observation of Ajayi-Kayode.

The actor faces a six-count charge bordering on indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault by penetration.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo adjourned the case until Oct. 21 for continuation of trial.

My daughter and I laugh over negative comments about me- Waje

Melodious singer, Aituaje Iruobe, aka Waje has revealed that she and daughter laugh over negative comments trolls write about the former on social media.

The ‘Best thing’ singer made this known as a guest on ‘Rubbin Minds’, a show anchored by media personality, Ebuka Uchendu.

“We have grown to the point when we laugh about it.Sometimes she will come and show me the comments. I don’t follow the blogs, sometimes she is able to see it and we would laugh. It is very important the sort of foundation you lay with your kids. There was one time she was in school and she sent me a picture ‘Mummy can I post it’? There was nothing bad in that picture but I asked her ‘Tell me oh, it depends oh, what is the story behind the picture? So that’s’ how we table it.

“The great thing about my daughter is she is not a social media person, which is a blessing in disguise. Where she has her fan base, her friends, she connects with, is on snapchat. She has deleted her twitter and instagram accounts on several occasions. Me too I am begging her to have these accounts so companies will come and endorse us. So that’s one pass for me, she is really not a social media person’.

Speaking further, Waje noted that she has done a good job of building Emerald’s character.

“Secondly, I think I have done a very good job, building her character. She is not easily swayed by these things. She has Omawunmi, she has a lot of my friends she can talk to if she has issues that she feels ‘I don’t want to talk to mummy about this’. I just think she has such a strong personality and character that makes her not to be easily swayed by all these things”.

Asked what parenting has taught her, the talented vocalist said ”Parenting has taught me humility because it’s so scared. Being a parent is a God given role that you can’t abuse so in that space where you are fortunate to have that opportunity, it humbles you, it makes you see life from a different perspective. So even when I love the fame, I love it for a different reason.I love the doors it is opening for my kids, the one I gave birth to and the one I have acquired by virtue of being Waje”.

My daughter once saw me drunk –Waje

Nigerian songstress, Waje has revealed how her daughter once saw her in a drunken state — and the experience changed her lifestyle choices.

The ‘Coco baby’ crooner made this revelation in a chat with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Rubbin Minds.

Waje recounted how she took one drink too much after attending an event and ended up bumping into her daughter, Emerald Iruobe, when she opened the door for her at home.

“In my own life, for a long time, whomever I was in a relationship with was not allowed to come to my house. You have to set boundaries. Parenting is sacred. Your children don’t do what you tell them but what they see,” she said.

“Parenting is different for single mums than single dads in the industry. There are not a lot of single dads who have their kids living with them. There’s a huge difference there. My child is there 2-4-7.

“The one time my daughter saw me drunk was the reason I checked myself. It wasn’t a great sight. It was in 2013 when I got home after an event. You know how you do champaign here, one glass there.

“My daughter was the one who opened the door when I got home. That is not somewhere any parent should be.”

    I didn’t defraud FG –Buhari’s daughter

One of the daughters of the President, Zahra Buhari-Indimi, has said she did not swindle the Federal Government of Nigeria of N51bn, N2.5bn, or any amount.

The President’s daughter stated this in a letter dated March 8, 2021. The letter was signed by her lawyer, Nasiru Aliyu (SAN), and addressed to online news platform, Sahara Reporters.

In the letter, Buhari’s daughter accused Sahara Reporters of “injurious defamation” in a story published on March 5, 2021 titled, ‘How APC Chieftain, Danu, Custom Boss Defrauded Nigerian Government of N51bn, Wired N2.5bn To Buhari’s Daughter’.

The publication had claimed that Nasiru Danu wired N2.5bn out of the said N51bn to Buhari’s daughter through her “foundation”.

But in the letter written by her lawyers to Sahara Reporters, Zahra said “no any foundation owned by her was transferred or credited with such money”.

The letter also stated, “Contrary to the said allegations in your (Sahara Reporters’) publications under the reference, our client’s position is that, while she is truly the daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari, she has never perpetrated any fraud nor involved in any fraudulent activity.

“Our client categorically states that she did not defraud the Federal Republic of Nigeria N51 Billion or N2.5 Billion or any sum of money at all in any way.

“Our client is a law-abiding citizen and fulltime housewife supported by her husband.”

Describing the Sahara Reporter’s publication as false and injurious, Zahra demanded that Sahara Reporters withdraw the publication, and tender a public apology in three national dailies within seven days of receipt of the letter or she will “seek all remedies available in law”.

Why I remind my daughter I am not her father – Ninalowo

Nollywood actor, Bolanle Ninalowo a.k.a Nino B has opened up on why he reminds his daughter, Aliyah, that he is not her father.

Makanaki, as he is fondly called, said he only plays the role of a guardian while God is her only father.

The huge actor noted that because of his constant reminder, she keeps God first in everything she does.

Ninalowo, who shared photos of himself and Aliyah on Instagram, wrote: “With Africa’s Next Top Model @myteenandi… I remind her every day that only GOD is her father, I remain her Guardian… So she keeps GOD first and I, behind her back…Maka”

In an interview, Ninalowo disclosed that he is obsessed with his wife.

“I am blessed and don’t forget that it’s a privilege to have what I have. Our love story is not that of a rich man that met a beautiful girl. We have been together for 16 years and have come a long way. We have been through so much. I had always imagined being successful in the entertainment industry and having a beautiful wife by my side.

“She is quite an introvert. We are practically two opposite people that complement one another well. Before I became a celebrity, I used to show off my wife. She looks like my mother and I had always prayed to marry a woman that looks like her. I admire my wife and I’m obsessed with her. I have messed up so much in the past and I figured I could rewrite my own story. I am fortunate to have got a second chance, so I am just living my dreams. I am not living to impress anybody.”
