There are people you can’t continue to associate with because they become a hindrance to you- Sophia Momodu

Sophia Momodu, the first baby mama of Nigerian Singer, David Adeleke, aka Davido, recently took to social media to drop a cryptic post on golden nuggets concerning relationships.

The fashion Entrepreneur took to her Instagram story and shared a video post where the motivational speaker, Albaner C. Eugene Jr., talked about how to handle a one-sided relationship without being hurt emotionally, mentally, and physically.

The post also centered on people becoming like those with whom they closely associate- for the good and the bad.

The Speaker added that lives have been lost by association, and stressed the need to have an honest conversation with the partner before separation.

Parts of the Speaker’s statement reads: “You become more from what you hang around. There are some people you just can’t continue to associate with because they’re gonna become a hindrance to you. Because they will become a detriment or danger to you even through simple communication

“People have lost their lives innocently by association. Be careful by being at the wrong place in the wrong time with the wrong crowd. Have an honest conversation, know when to take a step back, go your separate ways before you get resentful of the bad company, do your due diligence, communicate and separate.”

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Sophia, who is a big lover of fashion, had flooded her Instagram page with cute pictures of her in a lovely outfit she rocked to an event.

In her words: “It’s giving unbothered Rich Aunty ✨ #DesignWeekLagos2022: Opening night yesterday was a blast.”

  • Sad death of Ifeanyi, Davido’s late son could have been avoided

Sad death of Ifeanyi, Davido’s late son could have been avoided

The passing of Ifeanyi Adeleke, the deceased son of Chioma Rowland and David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, took the nation by storm last week.

Reports, which many wished were rumours, emerged that the budding and energetic three-year-old Ifeanyi, who just finished marking his birthday, drowned in a swimming pool.

The swimming pool, it was learnt, is inside the Banana Island home of the Afrobeat singer, who was away with his betrothal and mother of Ifeanyi, Chioma in Ibadan for a family engagement when the sad incident happened.

In lieu of this development, TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) gleans that the death of Ifeanyi could have been avoided if certain safety measures had been put in place.

For instance, if the swimming pool inside Davido’s compound was fenced, the sad incident could have been avoided.

Also, at age 3, with Davido having a swimming pool inside his compound, in the absence of a fence, early swimming lessons would have done Ifeanyi a lot of good, but certainly not without a guardian.

According to Baby Centre, babies can start learning to swim around the age of one, though they would not master swimming skills until they are at least 4 years old. Babies who start their swim lessons when they are 10-18 months old usually take between 1.5 to 2 years to learn to swim independently.

If Ifeanyi started having swimming lessons say at age one, he would have been able to hold himself longer inside the pool until he got help, and the story would have been different today.

However, given the back-and-forth nature of Davido and Chioma’s relationship, it meant that Ifeanyi could not get early swimming lessons when it is obvious that the Afrobeat singer is having a swimming pool in his compound.

It was only recently after Davido and Chioma’s relationship started budding again that the singer shared footage of himself and his 3-year-old sharing time in the water.

The sad death of Ifeanyi, Davido's late son could have been avoided with "swimming smarts"

Without aiming at flogging a dead horse or raising dust, this is a wake-up call for parents who are having toddlers and a swimming pool inside their compounds.

Needless to say, it is good to know how to swim. Everyone should. It is never too late to learn.

    Avoid swimming alone

Always swim with a partner, every time, whether you are swimming in a backyard pool or in a lake. Even experienced swimmers can become tired or get muscle cramps, which can make it hard to get out of the water. When people swim together, they can help each other or go for help in an emergency. It is important for kids to learn how to swim and learn about basic water safety early in life but wrong for them to swim alone.

    Know your limits

If you are not a good swimmer or you are just learning to swim, do not go inside water that is so deep you cannot touch the bottom and don’t try to keep up with skilled swimmers. That can be hard, especially if your friends are challenging you. But it is a pretty sure bet they’d rather have you safe and alive.

If you are a good swimmer and have had lessons, keep an eye on friends who are not as comfortable or as skilled as you are. If it seems like they are getting tired or a little uneasy, suggest taking a break from swimming for a while.

    Swim in safe areas only

It is always best to swim in places that are supervised by a lifeguard. No one can anticipate changing ocean currents, rip currents, sudden storms, or other hidden dangers. If something does go wrong, lifeguards are trained in rescue techniques.

Swimming in an open body of water (like a river, lake, or ocean) is different from swimming in a pool. You need more energy to handle the currents and other changing conditions in the open water. Strongly consider wearing a personal floatation device in open bodies of water, even if you are a strong swimmer.

If you find yourself caught in a rip current, don’t panic and don’t fight the current. Try to swim parallel to the shore until you can get out of the current, which is usually a narrow channel of water.

Gradually try to make your way back to shore as you do so. If you cannot swim away from the current, stay calm and float with it. The current will usually slow down. When it does, you can swim to shore.

Even a very good swimmer who tries to swim against a strong current will get worn out. If you would be swimming in an open body of water, it is a great idea to take swimming lessons that offer tips on handling unexpected hazards.

Some areas with extremely strong currents are off-limits when it comes to swimming. Do your research so you know where not to swim, and pay attention to any warning signs posted in the area.

    Be careful about diving

Diving injuries can cause head injury, permanent spinal cord damage, paralysis, and sometimes even death. Protect yourself by only diving in areas known to be safe, such as the deep end of a supervised pool. If an area has “No Diving” or “No Swimming” signs, pay attention to them. A “No Diving” sign means the water isn’t safe for a head-first entry.

Even if you plan to jump in feet first, check the water’s depth before you leap to make sure there are no hidden rocks or other hazards. Lakes or rivers can be cloudy and hazards may be hard to see.

    Watch the sun

Sun reflecting off the water or off sand can intensify the burning rays. You might not feel sunburned when the water feels cool and refreshing, but the pain will catch up with you later. Remember to reapply sunscreen often and cover up much of the time. Don’t forget your hat, UV protection sunglasses, and protective clothing.

Drink plenty of liquids. It’s easy to get dehydrated in the sun, particularly if you’re active and sweating. Keep up with fluids- particularly water- to prevent dehydration. Dizziness, feeling lightheaded, or nausea can be signs of dehydration and overheating.

    Getting too cool

Staying in very cool water for long periods can lower your body temperature. A temperature of 70°F (20°C) is nice on land, but water below that will feel cold to most swimmers. Your body temperature drops far more quickly in water than it does on land.

When you are swimming, you’re using energy and losing body heat even faster. Check yourself when swimming in cold water and stay close to shore.

If you feel your body start to shiver or your muscles cramp up, get out of the water right away. It doesn’t take long for hypothermia to set in.

    Alcohol and water never mix

Alcohol is involved in many water-related injuries and up to half of all water-related deaths. The statistics for teen guys are particularly scary: One-half of all teen male drownings are tied to alcohol use.

  • Osun: Adeleke declares the employment of 12,000 workers null and void

Osun: Adeleke declares the employment of 12,000 workers null and void

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun state has declared the employment of over 12,000 persons into the state’s civil service as null and void.

The Osun state government was accused to have carried out the employment after the July 16 governorship polls .

The PDP in the state has explained that all the persons employed will be sacked when Adeleke’s government comes on board.

According to the party, the Adeleke’s administration will nullify all recent “illegal and ill-intentioned appointments” by the outgoing administration immediately after the governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, assumes the mantle of leadership on November 27.

The state Caretaker Chairman, Dr Akindele Adekunle, in a statement on Friday, disclosed that all key appointments, such as the ones for Iree and Esa Oke Polytechnics as well as the recent “criminal appointment” of the new Project Coordinator for World Bank -sponsored Rural Access and Agricultural Mobility Agency project, would be promptly upturned.

This is because, according to him, they were done in contravention of enabling laws of the institutions and regulatory protocol governing the critical rural development project.

Speaking on employment, the PDP said, “We also want to put on records that the outgoing administration has employed over 12, 000 workers of various cadres since the July 16 elections.

“We have been warning members of the public not to engage in such bankrupting agenda. We had also issued several statements declaring such employment exercise a nullity.

“Any employment conducted in the last several weeks will not stand and will not enter the state payroll. We are in the know that the majority of those employed against due process are members of the APC purposely designed to weaken the financial base of the state.

“Our administration will not hesitate to sack all those illegally employed by Mr Oyetola in his last days in office”, the party affirmed.

“We also want to put on records that the outgoing administration has employed over 12,000 workers of various cadres since the July 16 elections.”

The party also noted that the Osun State was about to lose out on the $150m World Bank-supported Rural Access and Agricultural Mobility Agency due to the “illegal sacking” of the present project Coordinator whose appointment was advertised, noting that proper selection was supervised by the World Bank officials led by the National Coordinator in the year 2020.

He also issued a stern warning to accountants and financial institutions against consenting to last-minute fund movement.

The state PDP further noted that a lot of fund movement was moving out of the state treasury within the state government and called the attention of financial institutions to the need to avoid complicity and criminal partnership.

The couple took to their respective Instagram pages to delight their fans with a loved-up photo.

They shared photos from their late-night outing in London.

Davido used a flattering comment for their posts.

He wrote in Igbo dialect, “Odi M Na Obi”, which means, ‘The one in my heart’.

    While Chioma wrote, “London nights”.

Recall that Davido had revealed he will be marrying Chioma, the mother of his son, Ifeanyi, in 2023.

The talented singer made the revelation in a video shared by UK-based Nigerian pastor, Tobi Adegboyega on Instastory.

In the video, Adegboyega hailed Chioma as “Our wife, our real wife,” and Davido added, “Hundred percent, going down, 2023.”

The Nigerian Chef (Chioma) was spotted with the singer in several videos, years after their rumoured breakup.

In the clip shared on Davido’s IG story, Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, who is a close friend of the crooner, gifted Chioma a designer’s bag believed to be worth millions of naira.

Davido could be seen hailing the UK-based clergyman as he presented the hang bag to his baby mama.

Sharon Ademefun, elder sister to Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, aka Davido, has made clear her reason to work despite her father’s wealth, saying “I’m so grateful because my dad spoilt me to bits”.

The billionaire heiress, in a viral video, explained that as a young child who attended school with kids of nobles, she imbibed their ideology which stressed that the family’s wealth does not necessarily belong to them but to parents.

Having a first degree alongside a Master’s degree, Sharon insisted she needed to work since she considers herself an intelligent personality.

She said: “A lot of people come up to me and say Sharon, why do you even work? So, I have a Master’s degree and I am intelligent, I shouldn’t do anything because my father is wealthy?

“I attended school with the British, children of billionaires and royals. One thing was common amongst all of them. They never admitted that they came from rich backgrounds and would say, ‘Oh, I’m not rich, my father’s rich.

“Honestly, I had to adopt that mentality. I’m so happy that I did. I’m so grateful because my dad spoilt me to bits. But I also understand that these are gifts and I need to use these gifts well and manage my money well.

"I’m so grateful because my dad spoilt me to bits"- Davido’s sister, Sharon

“Just because your parents have money does not mean that you are rich. Many rich kids spent their whole lives living like billionaires, but don’t know how to manage it. I want my kids to enjoy the life that I’m enjoying. So I have to make the same sacrifices that my dad made. This is my mindset with money and I hope you guys have a healthy mindset with money, too.”

After alleged split, Davido and Chioma step out in style

The rift between Nigerian music star, David Adedeji Adeleke, aka Davido, and his ex-fiancee and celebrity chef, Chioma Avril Rowland, appeared to have become a past after they were seen stepping out in style at the weekend.

The 29-year-old singer proposed to Chioma but the engagement later went sour after news broke out that he fathered a fourth child with an American model and make-up artiste, Larissa London.

Over the weekend, Chioma broke the net when she stepped out in style for Davido’s concert rocking his new 30BG pendant worth millions.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that Davido had opened up on why he wants to marry Chioma.

In a video that surfaced online, the “Assurance” crooner is heard telling friends about his decision to wife Chioma who is his third baby mama.

He said: “Because she is the most beautiful woman in the world. She feeds everyone in my house, the gate man, my sisters, my friends everyone. She is the boss lady. She arranged the house and she is not afraid of anything” Davido said.

Davido and Chioma have been engaged since 2019 and in a chat with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Bounce Radio live, Davido talked about their wedding plans.

The couple had fixed their wedding for July 2020 but due to the coronavirus pandemic, they have had to postpone their big day.

In his talk with Ebuka, Davido said: “Honestly, corona messed plans up because it was meant to be in July. I have decided probably sometime next year. For now, I want her to work on her business while I work on my album and the kids. I want everything to balance first”

Speaking on how long himself and Chioma have known each other, the “FEM” singer said: “I have known Chioma for about seven years. We have been dating for about five years. Lati introduced me to Chioma. We went to the same school, Babcock University. We started as friends but I got so used to her and she got so used to me as well. She is a great cook as well.”

Davido has two other children from two baby mamas and he discussed how he is able to maintain a balance in his home.

According to him, all his kids are equal and he was friends with all his baby mamas before the children came along.

He went on to say that things are not perfect as there are arguments and fights but the kids always come first.

He said: “At the end of the day, all my kids are equal. Once I have a kid, everybody is equal. Before I had kids, I was obviously friends with their mothers. Nothing is perfect. I am not going to say that we do not argue or we do not fight, it happens, but the love that we all have for our kids comes first.

“Imade and her sister talk almost every week. Their mothers ensure that they speak almost every week. Some days ago, Imade was with Ifeanyi in their grandfather’s house. It is not easy, but at the end of the day, as a man, you have to make everybody happy. You just have to be responsible and know what you have to do. Before I engage with anybody I would have known that you are reasonable whether we planned for it or not.”

Recall that Chioma has a son for Davido namely, Ifeanyi.
