Nigerian singer and entrepreneur, D’banj threw jabs at a fan who asked him to quit music .Recall that D’banj recently unveiled his album , titled ‘King Don Come’ and took to his IG page to celebrate having one million views for the El-Chapo song.

In the midst of the praises from his fans,a certain fan still condemned the pop star, telling him to sign a new artiste and quit music.

Anybody who knows D’banj well will tell you that the Koko Master will not led the sarcastic comment slide.

D’banj said: “You clearly have NO idea what I am about, what and my movement are about, yet you feel the need to air an unsolicited opinion. So keep quiet son.

“Educate yourself with facts before you stray to my page and exhibit your pile ineptitude. I am not as thirsty as you to impose my thoughts on others.

“Maybe one day when you finally become that ‘great king’ you hope to be, I would pay for your counsel if it comes with wisdom and well sought knowledge.

“But till then my brother take several seats back and crawl into your hole. YOU ARE SAYING ‘TRASH!!!’” he said.

  • Mixed reactions trail D’banj’s El-Chapo

Mixed reactions have trailed D’banj’s new music video called El-Chapo. While some Nigerians decried the video that already has 1m views in 5days; others lauded the self-proclaimed koko master.

The DMW boss experiments with trap music in the song. Trap music is a subgenre that originated during the 1990s from Southern hip hop in the Southern United States. It is typified by its ominous lyrics and sound that incorporate double or triple-time sub-divided hi-hats, heavy kick drums from a Roland TR-808 synthesizer, layered synthesizers, and “cinematic” strings. The term “trap” initially referred to places where drug deals take place. In recent years it has been incorporated with electronic dance music (EDM) by artists who have remixed and made trap songs with more EDM-like aspects.

Gift, a die-hard D’banj fan said Nigerian artistes need to learn from Dbanj. According to him:”We all have to learn from Dbanj .One thing I have learnt from him is that he never gives up. He has made a name for himself”.

A certain Tim noted that D’banj has finally ousted Don Jazzy. Hear him:”Dbanj and Wande Coal finally send don jazzy to relegation with this jam. Nice one”.

However , some fans think he would have done better with the song. Jeff Wizzy wrote:”Dbanj would have featured Wizkid on this. Wizkid would have done better”.

A fan who pleaded anonymity said D’banj has lost his groove , though El-Chapo has a nice hook. “I must admit, the song does have a catchy hook, but it hurts me to reiterate that D’banj has lost it or maybe his style of music is suited only to Don Jazzy’s beat. You’re a few songs away from a ‘Major Comeback Hit’ cos this is not it. #PainedFan”.

  • How I met Kanye West- D’banj

Self-proclaimed Koko Master, D’banj has revealed how he met Kanye West and then partnered with him and his G.O.O.D Music record label.

Speaking in a chat with Ebro Darden on Apple Music’s Beats 1, D’banj said after meeting Kanye by chance in Dubai, he emailed him for “two straight weeks” before they could meet up in New York.

According to him, Kanye, was the “first person to ever take notice [of Afrobeat, AfroPop, African sound] and do something about it”.

Recounting his meeting with Kanye in 2010, he said: “I had a concert in Dubai and on my way out of Dubai when we got to the airport I was with my entourage, I came out and the steward came running to me with a plaque saying Mr. Kanye West. So they thought I was Kanye.

After that occurrence, he told his crew to keep an eye out for Kanye. He continued: “So we’re checking into first class and then saw him with a hoodie. He’s there with his bodyguard. Then before I knew it one of my teammates, one of them ran to him and said “Yo, Mr. Kanye I have the biggest artist from Africa. African Michael Jackson. Let him play you the record.”

D’banj said Kanye listened to two records, and said: “This sound is the new sound”, after which he asked him to meet up in New York.

“I want to do the same thing I did with Estelle. Same thing I did with John Legend. I want to do with you,” the singer quoted Kanye as saying.

“So we flew straight to New York and we’re here in this wonderful city in 2011. We were here for two weeks. I was trying to reach Kanye for two weeks.

“For two weeks straight we waited to no avail and we sent an email that said, ‘I have to got to LA to shoot the Snoop Dogg’s video. On my way back if its possible I would like to see you’ and then we got an email that same night saying, ‘Mr. Kanye West will see you at the address below’. When I got there the whole family was there too you know. Everybody from G.O.O.D. Music. And Kanye said you have to listen to this guy and then he played all the records and we didn’t have Oliver Twist then.

After releasing ‘Oliver Twist,’ D’banj said he wrote another e-mail to Kanye West, saying, “there’s this song I recorded even though our deal is not done yet can I release it in the U.K. and Europe and when we’re done we’ll release it in America and Kanye was kind enough to say I’m in London come through and he heard the song.

“He said, ‘When are you shooting the video?’ I said, ‘I will shoot it now if you are going to be in the video. Just tell me you will be in the video. I will shoot it now’.

D’banj stated that when Kanye gave him his word that he would show up with the G.O.O.D Music crew for the video shoot, he “immediately broke the bank” to make the video.

The pop star however stated that Oliver Twist was never released in the US.

“Kanye surprised me and they came and I became history and everything blew up, but the song never released in the states,” he revealed.

I told her that there was this babe and we didn’t want to marry yet but she insisted that she was the one for me that we should have a small ceremony and the rest is history. I’m glad I listened to her”

On May 26, 2017, D’banj welcomed a baby boy and made it known on Instagram. He shared the photo of the baby and captioned it “#KingDonCome The Christening of @danieldthird.”

  • ‘Don Jazzy is begging me,’ Says D’banj

Talented singer, D’banj, who is also fondly called ‘Kokomaster’, by his fans, is on Twitter’s trending list on Sunday after he stated that his one-time partner and maverick producer, Don Jazzy is begging him.

The statement was Dbanj’s swift clap back to a Twitter user who said he [D’banj] still needs Don Jazzy.

The build-up to the whole drama was -D’banj held the listening party for his new album as a Pre-BET event in Los Angeles and stars like Blac Chyna, Bernice and others were in attendance.

  • Harrysong ‘Robs’ Dbanj in new song

Truth be told, Dbanj now relies on his old glory in order not to lose relevance in the Nigerian music industry. In an era where the likes of Tekno, Eazi, Wizkid and Reekado Banks are sitted in the front roll of Nigerian music, calling the shots, Dbanj who calls himself the Koko master has sadly been dethroned

D’Banj recently released a new song “It’s not a Lie.” In the song he cited his claim to fame, narrating the highpoints of his career. For an artiste who has left the scene for a while, we expected Dbanj to up the ante and give us something worth talking about, unfortunately he failed to soar in the song.

In the song he collaborates with Wande Coal and Harrysong and the trio sampled their voice on the trending Ghana inspired highlife beat spreading like wildfire in the African music space. In the song, Harrysong can be christened ‘ Mr Steal your glory’ as he brilliantly delivers his vocals reminding one of his hit song Reggae Blues. His tone and pitch sounds believable and melodious. Without Dbanj’s constant chant in the song, you would think you are listening to an Harrysong tune.

Wande Coal’s delivery in the song is nothing short of average. His vocals are simple and only sparkled when he switched his high-pitched voice. Dbanj will need a supernatural shift in order to take back his place in the industry. He will have to go back to the drawing board, revisiting the recipe that made his music delicacies irresistible during his Mo’Hits days
