Popular Nigerian artiste Daniel Oyebanjo, a.k.a D’banj commended the Federal Government for its Agro-Rangers initiative undertaken by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

D’banj gave the commendation in a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday by his Corporate Manager, Mr Damien Okoroafor, following his decoration on Friday by the NSCDC Commandant-General, Abdullahi Mohammadu, as an Agro-Ranger.

The Agro-Rangers programme inaugurated in mid-2016 is expected to forestall attacks on farms, boost farmers’ confidence and to enhance FG’s food security plan.

D’banj said he would dedicate his life and personal effort to put the country and the NSCDC on the global map and ensure that the insecurity challenges suffered by Nigerian farmers would be a thing of the past.

“I find this initiative undertaken by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps as a wonderful opportunity to serve my country.

“Organisations or agencies such as the NSCDC need the support of the general public to do so effectively since they were established to protect Nigerian citizens.

“Being myself a farmer of over 15 years, I very well understand the challenges suffered by farmers as incessant and re-occurring attacks stifle production and productivity,” D’banj said.

NSCDC boss Mohammadu urged D’banj to always promote the initiative as government had concluded plans to employ young and agile people in the 36 states of the country and FCT as Agro-Rangers.

“Nigeria has witnessed an escalation of deadly attacks in several years between farmers and herdsmen in Plateau, Benue, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Taraba and Niger States.

“We expect that all hands should be on deck to make the initiative succeed and tackle head-on the insecurity crisis suffered by our farmers country wide.

“It is expected that the initiative will also create jobs and further empower the youth to participate more actively in playing a role in the system,” Mohammadu said.

“It will end in premium tears for her & their coven and she will be revealed for the monster that she’s become on this agenda. #EndRape.”

In his reaction, Mordi said Mr Awosanya knew what to do if she committed a crime against him.

“Guys I’m blocked by Sega I definitely can’t see the tantrums he’s throwing. I wish him peace. In the meantime he has my number and email and if I have committed a crime against him surely a man like Sega would know what to do,” she wrote.

“In case you’re wondering what my response to anything he’s saying is; if you didn’t hear from me or a statement signed by me, it’s not my truth.”

Our client further humbly applies that the investigation and all other action that is currently being carried out by the police with respect to the statement.”

In his response to the letter, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Admin), Umar Sanda, said investigation had stopped due to lack of evidence.

The letter posted on Twitter by blogger, Kemi Olunloyo, read in part, “In view of the foregoing facts, investigation was discontinued as no substantial evidence to prove the allegation of rape against the suspect.”

Human rights group, Stand To End Rape Initiative popularly known as STER, said Seyitan decided to end the case without receiving any monetary compensation.

STER, which was actively in support of Seyitan’s quest for justice, thanked everyone.

The statement read in part, “On July 13, 2020, Ms. Babatayo informed STER that a private non-monetary agreement was reached with D’Banj’s team. We, therefore, present this statement as the full account of our stewardship on this matter.”

TheNewsGuru recalls that Seyitan had accused the pop-star of raping her at Glee Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos in December 2018, an allegation he has denied several times.

D’banj’s former manager alleges Seyitan Babatayo was paid $100 after hotel incident

Former manager of D’banj, Franklyn Amudo has said Seyitan Babatayo who accused him of rape was paid $100 after the hotel incident.

Amudo made this known during a chat with Goldmyne TV while answering questions about what transpired between Babatayo and his former boss on the day of the incident.

According to the music star’s former manager, Ms Babatayo informed him that D’banj raped her in the hotel room.

“Upon getting to Ghana, I just saw that my phone kept on ringing because we were on the bus, and it was Seyitan. We were in the car to the apartment so I didn’t pick. When we got to the apartment, I put on the wifi then I saw her message and I called her back and asked why she was calling me,” he said.

“The first question she asked was that ‘were you aware that D’banj was coming to my room?’ I said No because first of all D’banj doesn’t even know my room, and he didn’t even lodge at Glee hotel.”

“That was when she made the allegation that D’banj came into her room and had forceful carnal knowledge of her.”

Amudo noted that he was unable to bring up the topic with D’banj because he was staying in the same apartment with his wife during their trip to Ghana.

“She sent it via voice note. I can even play it for you. When she sent it, I was disturbed. I called Chizzy and told him about it and we spoke. Let’s not forget that D’banj’s wife was also on that trip with us and we were all staying at an Airbnb apartment and I could not bring up the topic because of that,” he said.

Troubled by the allegations, Amudo said he contacted one of D’banj’s close friends in Lagos, Aja Mohammed who then told him not to bother, that Ms Babatayo had been settled with $100.

“I called Aja Mohammed in Lagos and told him about it asked for his take on the issue. He was like ‘Franklyn don’t bother yourself, it has been resolved’ that he had given the girl involved $100. Then I called Seyitan to confirm about the $100 and why she is still talking about rape, she got angry,” he said.

“Seyitan in the same voice note said she was not trying to clout chase or do anything, that she just wanted me to know the kind of people I was working with and I said noted. That was the end of our conversation.”

Alleged Rape: Why we invited D’Banj accuser, Seyitan ― Police

Following a directive by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) has begun investigations into the allegation by a lady, Seyitan Babatayo that Nigerian singer, Oladapo Oyebanjo, aka D’Banj raped her.

Consequently, both the crooner and the accuser have been invited to the Force Criminal Investigations Department, Abuja to give written statements and for questioning. TheNewsGuru, gathered that while D’Banj has reported on three separate occasions at FCID for interrogation and statement, the accuser, Seyitan Babatayo, has constantly refused to show up.

Her non-appearance is what prompted the Force CID to dispatch officers to Lagos to invite Seyitan for her written statement and interrogation on the alleged rape, according to a police source

The police source said that having made the allegation, it was necessary for her to come forward to give a statement to back up her accusation which she has not done hence detectives were sent to Lagos to get her statement.

When his attention was drawn to allegations that Seyitan was arrested and detained by Police operatives at Ikeja in Lagos for 24 hours, the source said there may have been a mix up by the legal representative of Seyitan as she was only invited to give her written statement and be interrogated.

The source, however, revealed that investigation into the allegation of rape is still ongoing.
