And while many expected him to quickly pick up the iconic No.1 shirt, the Cameroonian opted to continue with the No.24, which he has worn previously at Ajax and Inter.

“I just like that number and it’s my birthday, my date of birth.

“So for me it’s great and I like this shirt. With this number we have done a lot and I hope this will continue,” he told MUTV.

Man Utd vs Sevilla: Ten Hag speaks on replacing De Gea after making howlers leading to goals

Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag has taken a side on replacing the club’s goalie, David De Gea in subsequent games.

However, after the defeat last night, Ten Hag was asked if De Gea is United’s long-term goalkeeper.

“Because we conceded too many chances and we were too open at the end of the game, so he was a bit angry.

“He brought a great spirit to the team, we are playing really well and this is the way we have to show and keep the momentum as well.”
