    8 dead, many injured at Travis Scott’s Astroworld festival

    At least eight people have been confirmed dead by authorities following a crowd surge at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival.

    The concert held at Houston’s NRG Park, United States (US) on Friday, November 5.

    It was reportedly attended by approximately 50,000 people, including the Travis’s girlfriend Kylie Jenner and her sister Kendall Jenner.

    Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña addressing a press conference on Saturday said the surge happened at 9pm when Travis Scott was on stage to perform.

    “People began to fall out, become unconscious, and it created additional panic.

    “17 people were taken to the hospital, including 11 in cardiac arrest,” Pena said.

    However, Peña said authorities are not sure of the cause of the eight deaths until the medical examiner complete investigation.

    Houston Police Executive Assistant Chief Larry Satterwhite said the promoters of the concert had to end of due to the crowd surge.

    “Suddenly we had several people down on the ground, experiencing some type of cardiac arrest or some type of medical episode and then we immediately started doing CPR, and moving people right then, and that’s when I went and met with the promoters, and Live Nation, and they agreed to end early in the interest of public safety,” Satterwhite said.

    The Astroworld Festival in a statement on Saturday, condoled those who lost loved ones and cancelled the second day of the festival.

    The terse statement read: “Our hearts are with the Astroworld Festival family tonight especially those we lost and their loved ones.”

    “We’re focused on supporting local officials however we can. With that in mind the festival will no longer be held on Saturday.”

    Veteran actor, Joshua Johnson is dead. He reportedly died after battling an undisclosed illness.

    Actor Abel Alechenu who confirmed the news of his death via his Instagram page wrote, “This one hit differently but all I can say is It is well.

    “When I called your phone and it rang I thought all I heard were just rumors until I was told by the voice which wasn’t yours that you’ve gone to be with the Lord.

    “I wish I could hear it’s one of your jokes. Uncle Josh the plan we had sitting under that tree on set was Yam porridge at my place, not this!
    “May God comfort your family, your fans and friends thank you for the memories.”

    Until his death Johnson was one of the popular faces in the movie industry with a career spanning over two decades.

    In his last days, Johnson became a regular in most of the TV drama series created by AfricaMagic.

    Leaked tape: Some people will be happy when I am dead- Tiwa Savage

    Embattled singer, Tiwa Savage has averred that some people will be happy when she is dead.

    The award winning songstress made this known in instastories earlier today.

    “I was said at the passing of my dad and 44 but at least they are no longer in this cruel place.Some people will be happy when I am no more”.

    Tiwa Savage’s recent post comes a week after a sex tape featuring the singer and her current lover surfaced online.

    As the video went viral, some celebrities drummed up support for the singer, as they uploaded her picture and hailed her on social media.

    Two weeks ago, Tiwa Savage had revealed during an interview with American OAP, Angie Martinez of Power 105.1, that she was being blackmailed by an unknown person who threatened to release a sex tape that featured her and her current lover.

    The Koroba singer revealed that the blackmailer demanded money from her so as not to release the sex tape but she has decided not to pay the money.

    TheNewsGuru recalls that Monday night, a sex tape leaked online. While the face of the man involved in it did not show, the lady in the video bears a close semblance with Tiwa Savage.

    Supreme Court judge, Samuel Oseji is dead

    Samuel Chukwudumebi Oseji, a Justice of the Supreme Court, is dead.

    Mr Oseji, who has been less than one year on the apex court bench, died at 67 on Tuesday.

    According to reports, he died in Abuja after a protracted illness, details of which could not be immediately ascertained.

    An official of the court said the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Muhammad, had to visit him at an unnamed hospital about two weeks ago.

    His death brings the number of Justices of the Supreme Court to 17.

    Born on June 2, 1954, Mr Oseji hails from the Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta state in the South-South zone of Nigeria.

    He attended Saint Patrick’s College, Asaba, Delta State. He graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1984 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985.

    He worked as a magistrate and rose through the ranks to become Chief Magistrate Grade I. He was appointed Deputy Chief Registrar in 1996. He was appointed Chief Registrar of the Delta State High Court in 1997.

    In 1998, he was appointed a judge of the High Court of Justice, Delta State. He was elevated to the Court of Appeal in 2010.

    While on the Court of Appeal Court bench, he served in Enugu, Lagos and Benin divisions of the court before his elevation to the apex court last year.

    He was among the eight Justices of the Court of Appeal elevated to the Supreme Court bench in November 2020.

    He was sworn into the apex court bench by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Mr Muhammad, on November 6, 2020.

    Mrs Grace Aigbeido Osunbor’s burial, wife of Second Republic Parliamentarian, Late Pa Abraham Osunbor who passed on at 82years, will take place at Iruekpen, Esan West LGA in Edo State on September 30.

    According to a statement issued by the Osunbor family, the service of songs is scheduled to hold in her residence in Idumebo Quarters, Iruekpen on 30th September.

    Interment and funeral service will hold at the Anglican Church, Iruekpen on October 1.

    Madam Osunbor until her passage to glory, was a devout Christian of the Anglican faith.

    She is survived by 7 children, sons – in laws and daughters – in laws and also many grand children.

    She lived a very active Christian life in the body of Christ. She was a very Zealous worker for God until the very end and also very compassionate with love of God towards people. She will be greatly missed.

    Sharing a picture of her colleague, Abraham wrote, “We just lost @nkechiblessingsunday mum. Please put us in your prayers.”

    Popular disc jockey, Iwuagwu Patricia, known as Commissioner DJ Wysei, stunned many when she stated that she was confirmed dead for hours after failing from a two-storey building few years ago.

     

    The talented entertainer took to her Instagram page on Thursday, to share pictures from the accident as she thanked God for keeping her.

     

    She wrote, “When destiny can’t be denied. 22nd September few years ago, I fell from a two-storey building because the balcony collapsed.

    “I was confirmed dead for hours. but God kept me. A date I can never forget.

     

    “From every wound there is a scar, and every scar tells a story…A story that says I survived. Today, I am Commissioner DJ Wysei.”

    Commissioner DJ Wysei got many talking recently when she caused a stir as she featured in one of the Big Brother Naija Shine Ya Eye Saturday Night Parties.She got the housemates dancing to her exceptional song selections at the party.

    SAD! Davido loses his official photographer

    24-year-old Fortunate Ateumunname Peter popularly known as Fortune, the official photographer to popular Nigerian musician, Davido Adeleke has died.

    The celebrity photographer was 24.

    His last post on his Instagram page was on July 10, his birthday.

    According to multiple sources, the photographer drowned at a photoshoot location in Lagos, on Tuesday evening, September 21, 2021.

    “Davido’s photographer Fortune is dead. Jesus Christ. F**k I’m heartbroken, he’s my friend. I’m so heartbroken. It shouldn’t have been fortune God, he’s hardworking, very ambitious, he worked so hard to gain the spot he achieved like wtf,” one Diana tweeted.

    Fortune’s death comes just three months after the death of the hit maker’s close aide Habeeb Ademola Uthman, popularly known as Obama DMW, who died as a result of a heart condition.

    According to his personal website, the seasoned creative who started out as a graphic designer evolved from Photography to directing of videos and other forms of motion pictures.

    The Afrocentric and hustling nature of the Lagos life inspired his works, describing himself a thorough bred “Lagosian”.

    Fortune was Davido’s personal photographer and accorded him the opportunity to have toured over 50 cities in the world (including the Middle East, United Kingdom, South Africa and Other Parts of Africa ) spreading his love for his craft and documenting appealing images to the world of art.

    Fortunate co-founded a production company with his Partner David Olaleye, Gracelle productions, as a hub where other creatives and artistes can collaborate on projects together as also render production solutions in diverse capacities.

    Fortunate was the second close associate of Davido, who has died this year. In December 2020, Davido’s bodyguard Tijani Olamilekan aka TeeJay died after a battle with an illness.

    In October 2017, the famous singer lost three friends to death in one week.

    BREAKING: Ex-Lagos lawmaker, Ajoke Adegeye is dead

    A former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, and wife of revered musician, King Sunny Ade, Hon Risikat Ajoke Adegeye is dead.

    The deceased who was also a former Chairmanship Aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Congress,APC, in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, reportedly died in the early hours of Tuesday.

    Adegeye, a devoted and loyal party member of the APC, died after a brief sickness.

    Mr George Folarin Olawande, confirmed the death on behalf of the family in a statement on Tuesday.

    “Hon Risikat Ajoke Adegeye was a Honourable Member in the 6th Assembly of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

    “She will be greatly missed not only by her immediate family but also by her political associates and followers. Further information in respect to her burial ceremony will be announced later after extensive consultations with the family.

    “Thank you as we pray that she continues to rest peacefully and eternally with the Almighty God.”

    Popular South Korean pastor, Yonggi Cho is dead

    Popular South Korean pastor, David Yonggi Cho is dead. He passed on at the age of 85.

    This was announced via his official Facebook page on Tuesday.

    The announcement read, “Dr David Yonggi Cho has gone to be with Jesus. At the age of 85 (1936-2021).

    “David Yonggi Cho (born 14 February 1936 as Paul Yungi Cho) is a South Korean Christian minister.

    “With his mother-in-law Choi Ja-shil, he is cofounder of the Yoido Full Gospel Church (Assemblies of God), the world’s largest congregation.

    “You are forever in our hearts, we thank God for your life which was lived in total submission to God.

    “Let’s support his family with prayers. Continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord, God’s general.”

    Though the announcement did not state the cause or time of death, a post by a popular Singapore pastor, Kong Hee, revealed that Cho died on Tuesday morning.

    The post read, “At 7:13am this morning, my pastor and spiritual father, Dr David Yonggi Cho (1936-2021), just went home to the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. I love you, Dr Cho.”

    A popular Nigerian pastor, Godman Akinlabi also shared a lengthy tribute to Cho.

    Part of the tribute read: “Rest in Peace God’s general! Pastor David Youggi Cho (1936-2021) founding pastor of one time largest church in the world: Yoido Full Gospel Church in South Korea. He is widely acclaimed to be the God father of home cell groups. He wrote many great books that impacted me like; The Fourth Dimension, More than Numbers, and Successful Home Cell groups. He lived a life of service and sacrifice for the gospel of Christ”.
