    Bimbo Oshin’s husband, Dudu Heritage is dead

    Music promoter and marketer, Ola Ibironke husband of Nollywood actress Bimbo Oshin is dead.

    Popularly called Dudu Heritage, Ibironke died suddenly on Sunday night.

    The captain of Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) reportedly slumped at the golf club around 8:30pm while out with his friends. Efforts to resuscitate him proved abortive. He was rushed to the hospital where he was later confirmed dead.


    Confirming the news in a statement on Monday, Ibadan Golf Club said, “We are shocked by the sudden demise of our Captain, Mr. OLA IBIRONKE. The Course is hereby closed and all club activities are suspended until further notice while the Flag will be hoisted at half mast. Our prayers are with his family and members of this great Club. Further details will be announced.”

    ECWA Pastor Silas Ali macheted to death in Kaduna; El-Rufai reacts

    Reverend Silas Ali of the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA), Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State has been macheted to dead by gunmen.

    He was said to have departed for Kafanchan on Saturday.

    His corpse was later discovered by a search party at Kibori community, near Asha-Awuce, where he was apparently attacked and macheted to death.

    The Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who confirmed the incident, said security agencies were conducting investigations in the general area with a view to arresting those behind the dastardly act.

    Governor Nasir El-Rufai has therefore expressed deep sadness at the report of the killing of the pastor, describing it as horrifying and cruel.

    The governor prayed for the repose of the soul of the cleric, and also sent his condolences to the family of the deceased as well as the ECWA Church.

    Veteran actor and chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Prince Ifeanyi Dike, is dead.

    He died on Friday morning after a brief illness.

    TheNewsGuru recalls that the actor has been down with kidney illness since 2011 after which he underwent a successful kidney transplant in India. However, he passed on today after a reported relapse of the ailment.

    BREAKING: Tinsel star, Victor Olaotan is dead

    Veteran actor and former Tinsel’ star, Victor Olaotan, popularly known as Big Daddy, is dead.

    His wife, Julia Olatan, confirmed his demise. He died at the age of 69

    TheNewsGuru recalls that the deceased had suffered a traumatic brain injury after a ghastly car accident in October 2016.

    He was born in Lagos in 1952. He studied at the University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University and Rockets University, United States.

    Olaotan began his career as an actor when he joined the University of Ibadan theatre group, where he met other artistes, such as Professor Wole Soyinka and Jimi Solanke among others.

    He became an actor at the age of 15 years through a teacher who was a member of the Ori Olokun Theatre group in the early 70’s, prior to the death of his father.[

    After his father died, he traveled to the United States of America in 1978 but returned to Nigeria in 2002 to continue his career in acting.

    The veteran actor was involved in a motor accident in October 2016 and suffered nervous system injury . He was driving to a movie set when the accident took place around Apple Junction, in Festac, Lagos.

    Olaotan has featured in movies like Towo Tomo , Lovestruck and Three Wise Men.He was also known for his role in Tv series, Tinsel.

    Former Oyo State military governor, Adetunji Olurin is dead

    The former military governor of Oyo State, General Adetunji Idowu Olurin is dead.He passed on at the age of 76.

     

    The septuagenarian, born on December 3, 1944, was an indigene of Ilaro, in Ogun State.

     

    Details about his death were still sketchy at the time of filing this report.

     

    Olurin had his primary education at Christ Church School, Ilaro from 1951 -54; St. Paul’s School, Odo-Ona, Ibadan, 1955-57 and Local Government Authority Modern School, 1958.

     

    He also attended Egbado College, Ilaro, 1959-64, Technical College (now The Polyternorchnic), Ibadan, 1966.

     

    Olurin, a former governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Ogun State, attended the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, 1967-70; School of Infantry, Quetta, Pakistan,1973; Army Command and Staff College, Jaji, 1977-78.

     

    He was also at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, 1989. He was appointed Battalion Commander, 1970-71; Brigade Major 1972-74; Instructor, Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, 1974; Defence Adviser, Nigerian High Commission India, 1975-77.

     

    Olurin was General Staff Officer I, Operations, Army Headquarters, Lagos, 1980-82; Colonel General Staff, Nigerian School of Infantry, 1982; Deputy Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Infantry, 1983-84; Commander, I Mechanised Infantry Brigade, 1984-85; appointed Military Governor, OyoState, 1985- 88; Director of Logistics, Nigerian Army Headquarters, Lagos, August 1988 – January 1989; Passed StaffCollege (PSC), 1978; National Decoration: Forces Service Star (1155); Foreign Decoration: United Nations Peace Medal (UNIFIL), 1979;

    SAD! Student activist shot dead near LASU

    A student activist at the Lagos State University, Yusuf Nurudeen, popularly known as Omomeewa, has been shot dead.

    His demise was announced in a press statement by the LASU Students’ Union on Thursday.

    The activist, who got married about six months ago, was shot dead around LASU U-turn, Iba road.

    The students’ union in the statement by its president, Badmus Uthman, and Public Relations Officer of the Union, Olusola Kolawole, said robbers killed the activist.

    TheNewsGuru gathered that the activist recently appeared before the school’s disciplinary committee over unlawful possession of university documents among others.

    The statement read, “The Lagos State University Students’ Union is so sad to announce the demise of our dear Unionist and Activist, the Founder of Educational Right Campaign known as Comr. Yusuf Nurudeen Alowonle (Omomeewa).

    “Omomeewa was an activist of Human & Student Rights and also a graduate of Lagos State University(Set of 2019). He graduated from the Department of Educational Management, Faculty of Education.

    “Nurudeen contested for the post of Lagos State University Students’ Union President in the 29th LASUSU Election but lost. He was a strong activist who has never been found guilty of any form of illegal activities.

    “On the 18th of August 2021, Nurudeen (Omomeewa) and a staff of Lagos State University known as MAJEK were robbed at gunpoint around 10 pm close to the U-turn of LASU.

    “It was gathered that both of them were shot. Mr. MAJEK sustained an injury and has been hospitalised at the school clinic.

    “When the union was informed this evening. The Union proceeded to the school clinic to get some facts from MAJEK and he confirmed that his bag was collected including his phone.

    “Later, the Union checked all the hospitals around including Police stations and it was there we were informed that Nurudeen is dead and that his body is at Mainland hospital.

    “The Lagos State University Students’ Union mourns the death of a comrade, brother, and leader!”

    The Honourable member House of Representatives Representing Akure North and South Federal constituency Adedayo Isaac Omolafe is dead.

    According to reports, the House of Representatives member, popularly called Expensive, died around 2 am on Monday.

    A source very close to the deceased said the lawmaker was not sick as he was with his constituents on Sunday.

    BREAKING: Buhari’s 2015 transition chairman, Ahmed Joda is dead

    Elder statesman who led the 2015 Transition Committee of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, Ahmed Joda, is dead.

    Report of Joda’s death was related to TheNewsGuru (TNG) by some friends and family members on Friday.

    Joda was a retired Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industries, and rose to become one of the super Permanent Secretaries under the military government of Gen Yakubu Gowon (retd.) in the 1970s.

    He served as chairman and board member of various companies including; the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Nigerian Communications Commission, Pastoral Resolve, Chagoury Group, and the Flour Mills of Nigeria.

    He was also a member of the 1988 Constituent Assembly which planned the constitutional transition of the Third Nigerian Republic.

    In 1999, he was appointed in the committee to advise the Olusegun Obasanjo’s Presidency on Poverty Alleviation and in 2015, he headed the Muhammadu Buhari presidential transition.

    Missing Islamic cleric found dead in his car in Ogun State

    A prominent Islamic cleric and Chief Imam of Atiba community in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Sheikh Mushafau Bakare, has been found dead.

    Sheikh Mushafau was reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen on Wednesday night.

    However, he was found dead inside his newly acquired Toyota highlander in the early hours of Thursday, around Ikangba area in Odogbolu local government area of the state.

    The Ogun state police were quick to dismiss any reports of kidnap and assassination of the late chief Imam.

    Speaking on Thursday, the Police public relations officer, DSP, Abimbola Oyeyemi said that the Sheikh may have died of hypertension as a family source revealed the autopsy conducted on him revealed no trace of violence on him.

    DSP Abimbola also stated that the body of the late Islamic cleric was found in his car by police officers from Obalende area of Ijebuode while on a routine patrol around where his car and body was found.

    He assured that the police has commenced investigation on the sudden and unnatural death to unravel the circumstance leading to his death.

    It was gathered that a search party was conducted when the Cleric said to be in his 60s was declared missing by his children, and Muslim faithful in the town.

    The search proved futile.

    The cleric was said to have been buried according to Islamic rites.
