    BREAKING! Onigbongbo council chairman in Lagos is dead

    The Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Oladotun Olakanle, has passed away.

    Oladotun was born on February 3, 1970, in Ikeja, Nigeria.

    As of the time this report was compiled, the cause of his death remains unknown.

    A source informed Akelicious that the deceased council boss was spotted at the Diamond Jubilee birthday celebration of one of his colleagues, which took place at Radisson Blu, Ikeja, Lagos just two nights ago.

    The source verified that he passed away early on Saturday morning.

    The late Oladotun hailed from two ancestral lines: the Abejide family of Oke-Agbe, Akoko, Ondo State, and the Adeleye Ramoni Fayemi clan of Agboroko Town in the Iba LCDA of Badagry Division in Lagos State.

    Oladotun’s education started at Primary School in Agege, Lagos State, after which he attended Kagoro Road Primary School, Kaduna, Kaduna State.

    He furthered his education at Community Secondary School, Egbeda, Kwara State, where he obtained his WAEC in 1987. He then proceeded to the Institute of Basic and Applied Sciences and sat for the IJMB in 1989.

    Later, he obtained a B.Sc. in Sociology and a Master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Lagos State University, Ojo and Agege campuses.

    BREAKING! June 12 NEC chairman Prof Nwosu is dead

    Professor Humphrey Nwosu, Chairman of the National Electoral Commission (NEC) from 1989 to 1993, is dead.

    Recall that NEC is now known as the Independent National Electoral Commission.

    Nwosu, who was born on October 2, 1941, died in a hospital in Virginia, United States of America.

    Following his appointment by then dictator Ibrahim Babangida, Nwosu conducted the June 12, 1993 election, which was seen as the freest and fairest election till date in Nigeria.

    The presidential election was won by Chief Moshood Abiola, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party, defeating Bashir Tofa, the candidate of the National Republican Convention.

    Nwosu’s commission introduced the novel Option A4 voting system and the Open ballot system.

    Nwosu had released many of the election results when he was ordered by the Babangida military regime to stop further announcement.

    In July 2024, the House of Representatives called on President Bola Tinubu to immortalise Nwosu.

    The lawmakers wanted him immortalised for conducting the election adjudged as the freest and most credible in post-independence Nigeria.

    Versatile Senator Jonathan Silas Zwingina is reportedly dead.

    He died on Wednesday after a protracted sickness in Abuja.

    Jonathan, a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party, who represented Adamawa Southern Senatorial District (1999-2007) died at the age of seventy.

    SAD! Popular actor and musician confirmed dead

    American singer, songwriter, and actor, Kris Kristofferson has been confirmed dead at the age of 88.

    No cause of death was given in a statement issued by the family of the artist.

    Kris Kristofferson, a Country Music Hall of Fame honoree and Grammy winner known for writing hits like “Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down” and “Me and Bobby McGee.”

    He performed solo for decades but also formed the supergroup The Highwaymen in the mid-1980s with Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson.

    In film, the Golden Globe winner was also known for his appearances as Whistler alongside Wesley Snipes in the vampire trilogy “Blade.”

    It is with a heavy heart that we share the news our husband/father/grandfather, Kris Kristofferson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, at home” In Hawaii, the family said in a statement carried on his official Facebook page.

    “We’re all so blessed for our time with him. Thank you for loving him all these many years, and when you see a rainbow, know he’s smiling down at us all.”

    Born on June 22, 1936, in Brownsville, Texas, Kristofferson moved frequently as a child because his father was in the US military. He attended Pomona College in California and went to Oxford as a Rhodes scholar, according to his official website.

    He joined the army but was still pursuing his interest in music and songwriting. He was offered a teaching job at West Point but decided instead to head to Nashville, where he began to submit songs for others to record.

    He finally signed his record deal and put out his first album in 1970. He would earn success both with his voice and by providing tunes for other hitmakers.

    …as House adjourns sitting in honour of late lawmaker

    The Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has expressed sadness over the demise of a member of the House, Hon. Prince Olaide Adewale Akinremi.

    Hon. Akinremi, who was the member representing Oyo North Federal Constituency, died on Wednesday morning. He was the chairman of the House Committee on Science Research Institutions.

    The Speaker, in a condolence message through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, said he was shocked to receive the news of the death of Hon. Akinremi.

    Describing the late legislator as a patriotic and dedicated Nigerian, who represented his people with zeal, the Speaker said Hon. Akinremi would be sorely missed.

    Announcing the demise of Hon. Akinremi at a brief plenary session on Wednesday, Speaker Abbas, said, “Honourable Members of the House, it is with a heavy heart and sorrow that we announce the passing of the esteemed Hon. Prince Olaide Adewale Akinremi, affectionately known as Jagaban. A dedicated member of this House, he represented the Ibadan North Federal Constituency with unwavering commitment and distinction.

    “Prince Akinremi’s devotion to public service was exemplary. As Chairman of the House Committee on Science Research Institutions, he made significant contributions to both his constituency and the nation. His leadership in distributing palliatives and his support for local artisans, traders, and social groups during challenging times highlighted his deep commitment to the welfare of his constituents.

    “Beyond his political career, Prince Akinremi was a successful businessman and philanthropist. His efforts to empower women, youth, and the less privileged have left an indelible impact on his community. His dedication to fostering unity and development within Ibadan North earned him admiration and respect across political lines.

    “Prince Akinremi is survived by his beloved wife, Mrs. Adama Akinremi, and their five children. His legacy of service, compassion, and leadership will continue to inspire us all. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

    The House observed a minute of silence in honour of the late legislator. In line with the tradition of the Green Chamber, the lawmakers adjourned plenary to Thursday.

    Speaker Abbas prayed for the repose of the soul of the late lawmaker.

    Sad! Unidentified EFCC operative ends own life

    An unnamed operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) committed suic3de on Monday at his residence in Abuja.

    It was gathered that the deceased, a member of Course 5, was a diligent, efficient, and unassuming officer of the anti-graft agency.

    The Commission is exploring possible factors, including mental health and family challenges, that may have contributed to the operative’s depression and eventual tragic decision.

    The EFCC has, however, not released the operative’s name pending the conclusion of the investigation

    This incident has sent shockwaves through the organisation, and details will be provided as more information becomes available.

    The incident was confirmed by EFCC spokesperson Mr. Dele Oyewale to PRNigeria.

    He added that an investigation is ongoing to determine why the operative decided to take his life.

    However, sources within the Commission also told revealed that the operative had been having problems with his immediate boss, a woman, for some time. It is not certain if this issue was responsible for his decision to end his life.

    The anti-graft agency has not released the name of the operative as the investigation is still ongoing.

    SAD! 27 persons die others injured in religious stampede

    No fewer than 27 people, mostly women, died in a stampede at a religious gathering in a town in northern India on Tuesday.

    Local medical authorities said the stampede in Mughalghari village in Uttar Pradesh took place as hundreds of people that gathered for a Hindu prayer meeting were leaving the venue.

    The local Chief Medical Officer, Rajkumar Aggarwal, said 27 bodies were taken to a local hospital, most of them women and children.

    He added that many others were injured.

    The Kannywood film industry have lost another Veteran actor, Fatima Usman popularly known as Fati Slow Motion.

    A Kano based activist Mansura Isa announced Fati’s demise on Tuesday on her Facebook page.

    According to her, the actor died on Monday night at Habasha near Sudan where she would be buried while condolences would be received at her family house at Ungwa Uku in Kano.

    Confirming the incident, Executive Secretary of the Kano state Censorship Board, Abba El-Mustapha on his X handle @abbaelmustaph1, prayed for the reposed of her soul and prayed for Allah mercy and forgiveness upon her.
    Fati Slow Motion had been in the Kannywood movie industry for over 15 years.
