Like Atiku, Dele Momodu dumps PDP, reveals new Political party

A former presidential aspirant, Dele Momodu has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

TheNewsGuru reports that the publisher of Ovation Magazine in a statement on Thursday stated  that the once-prominent opposition party is now “a carcass” and has been hijacked by anti-democratic interests.

Momodu, In his resignation letter to his Ward Chairman, blamed the PDP’s internal collapse as his reason for leaving.

“My reason is simple and straightforward. Our party has been unarguably hijacked by antidemocratic forces, from within and outside, in broad daylight,” Momodu stated, adding that it was honourable to abandon the carcass of the party and instead support a new political movement.

He wrote: “The majority of us earnestly sign up with the new coalition party known as the African Democratic Congress (ADC).”

Momodu concluded his letter with a note of appreciation to his ward leadership, stress that “I will forever treasure the kind support you gave me at all times.”

The former PDP chieftain’ resignation is coming hours after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also dumped the opposition party.

Atiku communicated his decision to leave the main opposition party in a letter to the PDP Chairman Jada 1 ward, Jada LGA, Adamawa State.

His letter read: “I am writing to formally resign my membership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect.

“I would like to take this opportunity to express my profound gratitude for the opportunities I have been given by the Party, Serving two full terms as Vice President of Nigeria and being a Presidential candidate twice has been one of the most significant chapters of my life. As a founding father of this esteemed Party, it is Indeed heartbreaking for me to make this decision.

“However, I find it necessary to part ways due to the current trajectory the Party has taken, which I believe diverges from the foundational principles we stood for. It is with a heavy heart that I resign, recognizing the irreconcilable differences that have emerged.

“I wish the Party and its leadership all the best in the future. Thank you once again for the opportunities and support.”

How Ovation Media cleaned Wike up – Dele Momodu

Publisher of Ovation magazine, Dele Momodu has narrated how his media organization worked for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

During an interview with Channels Television on Monday, Momodu made claims on cleaning the minister up and asserting that too much alcohol has affected Wike’s conduct in public and private life.

Momodu reacted to Wike’s criticism of opposition figures and questioned the minister’s fitness for public office.

“Mr Nyesom Wike benefited immensely from my talents and from the pedigree of the Ovation Media Group. We cleaned him up, You know they say sometimes you can take a man out of the bush, but you cannot take the bush out of the man. We worked on Wike and he was happy.

“Every morning, when I am in Portharcourt, he would ask me to come to his house. We made sure he dressed up properly. We even did a bit of speech therapy telling him how to speak to people. But he had one major problem. That major problem was too much alcohol. And he takes it as early as possible in the morning.”

“What I saw on display last Friday on your show showed a man absolutely soaked in esoteric spirits. A man who was on a different planet. He was no longer on our planet. Yes, I said it,” Momodu said.

Dele momodu roasts Wike: ‘You need someone to rescue you before you go stark naked in the market’

Former presidential aspirant of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu has slammed  the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike over ill comments against him on national television.

TheNewsGuru reports that Momodu in reaction to the ill remarks made by the former Rivers governor, accused the FCT minister of being drunk and going on a complete rampage on everyone opposed to his despicable assault on the country’s hard-earned democracy.

Momodu noted that he had promised to respond to Wike on national television, to show Nigerians and President Bola Tinubu, in particular, the type of loose cannon he has unleashed on helpless Nigeria in the name of politics.

He wrote, “Nyesom Wike: A bull in the China shop. Minister Wike took his garrilosity to a different level on Politics Today, anchored by Seun Okinbaloye. He was obviously soaked in some esoteric spirit as he went on a full rampage everyone opposed to his despicable assault on our hard-earned democracy. But he is a bit too young to know and appreciate what it took to return Nigeria to democracy.

“A few years ago, after my famous Instagram live interview with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, during which Nnamdi Kanu blasted Wike. I received a call requesting that I give Wike the right to reply, which I gladly obliged, after the interview Wike excitedly invited Ovation to Port Harcourt to cover his projects. Since his memories seem to be fading so rapidly. I have requested for a right of reply from Channels Television on Monday to copiously show Nigerians and President Bola Tinubu, in particular, the type of loose cannon he has unleashed on helpless Nigeria in the name of politics.

“Nyesom Wike urgently needs someone to rescue him before he goes stark in the marketplace… The amount of spittle he wasted this night alone would conveniently float a canoe in Rivers State. Maybe he mistook me for some cheap journalists, when he spoke about his food that I ate.

“As stupendously wealthy as he is, his crass food not the type anyone would actually savor. Rather I touched him up like a beauty therapist and introduced him to some exclusive champagnes and perfume which he usually instructs his ADC to immediately keep in the room upstairs. He invited me regularly.”

Wike: Will you die if you are no longer a governor – Fabara slammed for accepting ’slavery’ condition in Tinubu’s peace deal

The chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu has berated the suspended Governor, Sim Fubara, following reports of a peace deal meeting in Abuja.

TheNewsGuru recalls that on Thursday night, President Bola Tinubu brokered peace between Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

The closed-door meeting was held at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, where Tinubu hosted Wike, Fubara, and the suspended Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, alongside a handful of lawmakers.

It was alleged that President Tinubu imposed a condition for the reinstatement of the suspended Rivers governor. According to reports, Fubara must not seek reelection in 2027.

Reacting, the PDP chieftain via his Instagram page on Saturday stated that Fubara embraced servitude and the utmost form of slavery as a means of reconciliation.

In his words:IS THIS THE DEMOCRACY WE FOUGHT FOR? A President in public glare tells an elected Governor to accept SERVITUDE and highest degree SLAVERY as RECONCILIATION… Mba!! Pls, what’s in this power that makes many Nigerians behave in such bizarre manner… FUBARA, sorry, I thought you said you were a man… Will you die if you’re no longer a Governor… Another one bites the bullet… WHAT A SHAME.”

Okowa’s defection to APC isn’t shocking – Dele Momodu

The publisher of Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu on Wednesday has reacted to the recent defection of former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa from PDP to the ruling party APC.

Momodu accused President Tinubu on Channels Television’s Politics Today of using strong arm tactics in pressuring the opposition to join APC.

He said: “I’m not surprised; Okowa’s defection isn’t shocking given the recent harassment he faced.”

“I would be surprised if President Bola Tinubu genuinely believes people are joining the APC out of love or administration, this is survival now; prison as martyr days are over.

“We once admired the likes of Nelson Mandela, MKO Abiola, and Chief Obafemi Awolowo for enduring detention in the name of principle. These days, nobody wants to go to detention.

“Everybody wants to stay at home and talk about the money they’ve made from politics; name one politician who has not been harassed by either the EFCC or the ICPC at some point.”

Defections: Don’t turn Nigeria into a democratic dictatorship, Dele Momodu cautions Tinubu

Former presidential aspirant and prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member, Dele Momodu, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to uphold democratic principles and avoid steering Nigeria toward authoritarianism.

Speaking on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television, Momodu addressed the recent wave of defections from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), including those of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, his deputy Monday Onyeme, and former governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

“My advice to him [Tinubu] is simple: uphold our democratic tenets. Don’t turn Nigeria into a democratic dictatorship,” Momodu said. “No matter what happens, you were a pro-democracy advocate before becoming president. Please, allow democracy to breathe. If not, I fear it may become a regrettable chapter in our nation’s history.”

Momodu said Okowa’s defection did not come as a surprise to him, noting that the former governor had been facing significant pressure and intimidation in recent times.

“What would surprise me,” he added, “is if President Tinubu truly believes these defections are happening because people love him or because he’s doing exceptionally well. That’s far from the truth.”

He also warned Tinubu against placing blind trust in political defectors, claiming that their loyalty may be driven more by survival than support for his leadership.

“It’s clear he’s focused on securing a second term,” Momodu said. “But he must remember—God granted him the first term, not coercion. So why now resort to force to ensure a second?”

Ever since Wike lost presidential primary, he has been inconsolable – Dele Momodu reacts as FCT minister evokes land title of PDP secretariat

Former presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has revealed former Nigerian president told him about the  Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

TheNewsGuru reports that Momodu while reacting to the news that Wike approved the revocation of the land housing the new National Secretariat of the PDP located in the Central Business District, Abuja disclosed that the former governor became inconsolable since he lost the party presidential primary ticket to Atiku Abubakar.

Recall, a letter confirmed the revocation was signed by the Director, Land Administration, Chijoke Nwankwoeze, on behalf of the Minister. It was dated 13th, March 2025 and addressed to the PDP National Chairman, but was made public, in Abuja, on Tuesday.

The letter with reference number: MISC 81346 titled: Notice of Revocation of Right of Occupancy in Respect of Plot Number 243 within Central Area (A00) District, Abuja, read in part:

“I have been directed to refer to the above Right of Occupancy granted to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), National Secretariat and inform you that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has in the exercise of powers conferred on him under the Land Use Act No.6 of 1978, Cap L5, Laws of the Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, revoked your rights, interests and privileges over Plot No. 243 within Central Area, Cadastral Zone A00, Abuja.

“The revocation is in view of your continued contravention of the terms and conditions of grant of the Right of Occupancy by failing to pay the annual ground tents due on the property for twenty (20) years, from 1st of January 2006 to 1st of January 2025.

“This is despite the many publications made by the FCT Administration since 2023 in several national dailies and on electronic media requesting all allottees of plots in the Federal Capital Territory to pay up every outstanding bills and ground rents on their properties.

“You would please note that the said breaches by Peoples Democratic Party, National Secretariat (MISC 81346) run contrary to the provisions of Section 28, Subsection 5 (a) and (b) of the Land Use Act.

“lam to further inform you that the subject property (Plot No. 243 Central Area, Cadastral Zone A00, Abuja) has thus reverted to the Federal Capital Territory Administration and the Administration will take immediate possession thereof.”the letter read in part.

Reacting, the veteran journalist prayed that the Lord almighty will console the former governor of Rivers.

He wrote: “Walahi, no one is enjoying this WIKE melodrama more than me. A former Nigerian President once told me “Ever since WIKE lost the PDP Presidential primary, he’s been inconsolable…”” May God console him.””

Dele Momodu exposes how an aspirant gave $30,000 to each 774 delegates during PDP presidential primary

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu has exposed how heavily monetised the presidential primaries of the party in 2022 was, revealing how an aspirant seeking ticket gave $30,000 (then N13,440,000 at N448/per USD, official rate) to each of the 774 delegates.

TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that the 2022 presidential primary of the PDP was considered the most expensive in the nation’s history with some delegates collecting bribes from multiple candidates.

Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, who emerged the winner from the primary squared up against the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, senator Aminu Tambuwal then Sokoto State governor, and his then counterpart from Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, the last two stepped down for Atiku.

Some delegates who attended the primary election returned home and shared over N10m to other members of the party in their wards.

Momodu who also bought the ticket to contest the primary, while speaking on the Key to Keys podcast show, expressed regret about spending ₦50 million to purchase the PDP presidential nomination form.

According to the publisher of Ovation Magazine, he would never contest for any party’s presidential ticket unless adopted as a consensus candidate.

He said, “No, experience is the best teacher, and I have come to realise that there are powers you can describe as principalities that control Nigeria.

“Unless a major political party decides to adopt me through a consensus that Dele Momodu is best suited to change and lead Nigeria, then I can consider it.

“But if I have to pick my money to go and buy a presidential nomination form of about N100m and the last one I spent about N50,m buying the form.

“This could have gotten me a property and it was a waste, nobody voted for me – not even one vote because everything was monetized.

“There was one of the candidates who paid as high as $30,000 per delegate and we had 774 delegates, so how do you compete with them?

“They have stolen the country blind and doing all kinds of deals to make money, especially those in the oil-rich areas.

“It’s not easy and that’s why you can’t compete with them – that’s why they insult Nigerians anyhow because of the amount of money available to them in raw cash.

“There is no country in the world where people control raw cash like Nigeria.

“The bulk of their money is not in any bank so they are not traceable. If today you ask some politicians that look you need $500 million to become a President, they will find it. So people like us where will I start from? I’m not bothered.”

  • 2027: God, destiny will determine Atiku’s fate – Momodu

2027: God, destiny will determine Atiku’s fate – Momodu

Former presidential aspirant, Dele Momodu, has said only God and destiny will determine Atiku Abubakar’s future political career in 2027 election.

77-year-old Atiku has run unsuccessfully for President of Nigeria six times, in 1993, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023. He ran in the Social Democratic Party presidential primaries in 1993 but lost to Moshood Abiola and Baba Gana Kingibe.

There are also fears that the former vice president is seeking to contest again in 2027 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) amid concerns over the health and physical fitness of the former vice president.

But speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Momodu noted that age cannot be a decisive factor in determining what political offices people should occupy.

“What has been the impact of these younger people who said they have been in politics? Go and check their states, what have they done for the amount of money made available to them?

“Age cannot be an automatic qualification or disqualification in politics. Who would have expected a Joe Biden to come after Obama? It is up to God and destiny. I am a child of destiny and that is why I have contentment.

“If Alhaji Atiku decides to run, good luck to him. If he doesn’t want to run, no problem. Ut for anybody to muzzle him, why are they afraid of him?” he questioned.

When asked if Atiku would pose a threat to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, the PDP chieftain did not categorically reply.

Rather he said, “I am sure they believe so. I know those who believe he is the only one right now. He will be a threat if he is able to galvanise a major political party.”

To Momodu, Muhammadu Buhari was fielded in 2015 as the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate because people felt he was the only one who could unite the north.

Momodu’s comments come a day after former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, asked Atiku to end his presidential ambition due to his advanced age.

You went too far – Dele Momodu reacts to Oshiomhole’s childless comment against Obaseki’s

The Ovation Media Group chairman, Dele Momodu has berated Senator Adams Oshiomole over his unflattering comments against Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki and his wife, Betsy.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that  Oshiomole while speaking with Journalists, mocked Obaseki and his wife for being childless over a remark made by Mrs Obaseki in which she alleged the People Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, is the only gubernatorial candidate who has a wife.

Recall that Mrs Obaseki, during her speech at the PDP’s campaign flag-off at Ubiaja Township Stadium, introduced Ifeyinwa Ighodalo to the crowd, emphasising the importance of having a woman in the Government House.

Let us vote for the best candidate in this coming election, and I want to introduce the wife. Incidentally, among all the candidates, only one has a wife, and it’s our own party’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo. Only he has a wife. This is the wife, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo. Edo women know that only one candidate has a wife. Better things come to women when there’s a woman in the Government House. All women in Edo, regardless of party, should see the candidate who has a wife. They will take us higher only the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo,” Mrs Obaseki said

Reacting to the comment on Saturday, Oshiomhole stressed that  Mrs Obaseki cannot remark on other people’s marital status given that she and her husband are childless.

Reacting, the Media entrepreneur, via his Instagram page on Monday, expressed “shock, saying he was mortified” by Oshiomole’s comment.

He further prayed that the former governor finds the courage to apologise publicly to the Obaseki as being childless is not a crime.

“My very dear Egbon Comrade ADAMS, Sir, I have watched this video endlessly and to say I’m shocked and mortified at how low you sank is to put it mildly. I pray you will find the courage to apologise publicly for this horrendous tantrum. It is never a crime to be childless. You could easily have said your candidate has a wife and children and leave it there but you went too far in this diatribe. Is it more than POLITICS?!!” he wrote
