Why I shared Buhari’s pictures – Dele Momodu

Ovation publisher, Dele Momodu who recently declared his interest to run for the 2023 presidency has denied being one of the prominent Nigerians who sold President Muhammadu Buhari to Nigerians.

In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Dele Momodu noted that he liked President Buhari but not his politics.

Claiming that he only reshared Buhari’s photos, Momodu stated that Nigeria is in a great mess today because Nigerians find it difficult to detach themselves from career politicians.

“I actually like the man personally but his politics, no way, he said.

“I didn’t sell Buhari to you. All I did was post his pictures. There is no way anyone can say, I said you must go and vote for Buhari,” he said.

“The mess in Nigeria today is because Nigerians find it difficult to detach themselves from career politicians.

“But Nigeria cannot continue in this madness. Why we lack progress is because we are too embittered, too enraged it is unbelievable.”

Ovation publisher, Dele Momodu joins race for 2023 presidency

Ovation publisher, Dele Momodu has declared his interest to run for president under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The media mogul indicated his interest while handing a letter of interest to the PDP National Chairman at the patty’s secretariat in Abuja.

Handing his letter to the national chairman of the party, Iyiorchia Ayu, Momodu said his move was to put an end to speculations in the public space over his interest.

After a closed-door meeting with the PDP Chairman, Momodu told newsmen that his decision to offer himself for the Presidency came after due deliberation with his family, stakeholders and mentors.

He said now is the time for full reconciliation and forgiveness among Nigerians and an opportunity to seek closure for the country’s ugly past.

”Nigeria urgently requires a reset and a total redirection. With this letter, Sir, I wish to humbly put the speculations to rest by coming to you with every sense of purpose and responsibility.

”I hasten to add that this is my personal decision, although I have received advice, encouragement and support from diverse quarters since I started my consultations.

”I urge the Party not to consider picking its candidate based on the usual considerations which had spectacularly failed our country in the past. The mood of the teeming youths, and indeed every patriotic Nigerian, who we need to come out en masse to vote for our party, aligns with this view.

”I invite our great party, PDP, to accept that it must search for a veritable flag bearer with the requisite leadership and visionary qualities that Nigerians now earnestly yearn for.

”I’m convinced that the time has come to seriously challenge and dislodge those politicians who have held our country to ransom by kidnapping, hijacking and destroying the future of our younger generation and generations yet unborn.

”I’m better prepared now than at the time of my first foray into the fray in 2011, and I am fully ready and certainly capable for the onerous tasks and responsibilities ahead”.

Momodu, however, warned that he will not accept any form of harassment or bullying from richer politicians in the course of the race.

I wish to place on record my firm promise and commitment not to be harassed, bullied or intimidated by anyone who feels he or she can buy the whole of Nigeria with loads of cash fraudulently and illegally filched and taken from the Nigerian people.”

”Nigeria deserves much better than where we are now, and my appeal to fellow Nigerians is that we should collectively rescue our dear country from the suffocating claws of slave masters, overlords and tyrants. I vociferously and vehemently reject any suggestion that Nigeria should continue to tread this dangerous path”.

PDP’s new member, Dele Momodu backstabs Buhari, says he regrets bringing him to power

Following his return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Publisher, Ovation Media Group’s Chairman, Chief Dele Momodu on Friday said he regretted playing a role in the 2015 general elections that led to the election of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Momodu said his choice to return to PDP was based on the need to save the country from its ‘dangerous and calamitous spiral’ towards oblivion.

The journalist, who stated that he sought advice from a variety of sources before making the life-altering decision, also expressed regret to Nigerians for his role in bringing President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to power in 2015, saying that he ‘intends to serve Nigeria from within the PDP with all humility, purpose, vigour, and sincerity in whatever role the party and God deem fit for me’.

Momodu said: “It is with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment to a unified and developed Nigeria that I have decided to re-enter the political arena and join the fray of active politicking again. I have been very frustrated about the state of our country and the manner the ruling party, the APC, has virtually returned and reduced Nigeria to the rubbles of Stone Age.

“I have decided to stop my perpetual lamentations and join hands with other patriotic Nigerians to rescue our nation from the brink of a calamitous collapse. Therefore, in line with practicing what I have preached for a few years now, I believe that only by joining mainstream politics and becoming a member of one of the leading opposition parties can I hope to make such meaningful difference as I have been demanding of others.

“I have consulted widely. And it is clear to me that given the dangerous and disastrous drift that our nation has experienced in the past six years, the only party from which amends can be made to rectify our situation is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This accords with my vehement opposition to the policies and practices of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its leadership, which has denuded our country of everything we hold dear – National Unity, Cohesion, Security, Economic prosperity, Educational advancement, Social infrastructure, and above all, our cherished moral values.

“For these reasons, I am happy to declare that I am now a full-fledged participating member of the great and patriotic Peoples Democratic Party.

“It is deeply saddening and regrettable that some of the biggest and landmark achievements recorded under the PDP administration have been diluted, wasted or diminished by the present APC Government. I offer my sincere apologies on the role some of us played in 2015 in bringing President Muhammadu Buhari to power.”

The exchange ensued after the media personality shared an old video of wanted secessionist leader, Sunday Igboho dancing with the caption “Happiness is FREE… OOSA” on Instagram.

One Instagram user that goes by the profile name ‘midestouch6453’ then commented: “Mr Dele, is in support of anyone who is against this administration. I have something to offer Nigeria- Bakare

Senior Pastor of the Citadel Global Community Church(Formerly known as Latter Rain Assembly) Pastor Tunde Bakare, says his ambition to become the President of Nigeria is a lifelong dream and he has something to contribute to the development of Nigeria. Bakare said that he has had that dream as a boy.

The revered cleric spoke on Tuesday night in an Instagram Live Chat with popular journalist, Dele Momodu, monitored by TheNewsGuru.

TheNewsGuru recalls that Bakare was the running mate to President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2011 presidential election. Buhari later contested again and won in 2015 with Yemi Osinbajo under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress.

The cleric said he has not given up on his presidential ambition but averred that his was not an inordinate ambition.

He said, “In an ideal situation, every Nigerian is entitled to his or her dream and we must find a way of liberating that office that any Nigerian who desires to be in the office or to be the president of Nigeria should be at liberty to do so.

“I express my own desire but it is not any inordinate ambition and it is not that I must kill and maim in order to get there. I have something to offer my country, God giving me the opportunity and the people saying so, I desire to still contribute my meaningful quota to the development of my nation. It is a dream I have had as a little boy and it has never left me but I am not pushing neither am I forcing myself on people.

“Remember something about the presidency in Nigeria, those who pursue it too hard hardly get it, those who put everything into it hardly get it and those who are qualified like MKO, he won the election, they didn’t let him get it. Chief Obafemi Awolowo has been described as the best president Nigeria never had.

“I will tell you it was the time Muhammadu Buhari stood publicly and said I will no longer offer myself for public service; it was after that that he got it. So, there is no inordinate ambition here that it must happen at all cost. If God gives me the opportunity, I will serve my nation but may the best candidate win in the net election and may God bring the best and brightest candidate emerge and steer the ship of our nation.”
