Come outside, let them eat you raw – DJ Switch to Wike, Asari Dokubo over comment on hunger protest

Obianuju Catherine Udeh, known by her stage name – DJ Switch, has dared the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, (FCT) Nyesom Wike and Ex-militant, Asari Dokubo, to physically interfere with the ongoing demonstration against hardship by Nigerians across the federation.

It will be recalled that Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, a former Niger Delta freedom fighter warned those behind the planned protest against hardship to forget about extending it to the Niger Delta.

While, Nyesom Wike, a former governor of Rivers State cum FCT minister warned protesters to stay away from Rivers State and Abuja, respectively.

Reacting to the threat, the entertainer cum activist noted that the provision of food and economic prosperity from good governance is the only thing that can stop citizens from engaging in the #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria protest.

Obianuju further admonished the citizens on the first day of the hunger protest – August 1 – to look out for one another.

She urged the protesters to brace up and see the hunger protest as an opportunity to achieve good governance in the country.

Taking to her X handle, she wrote, “The only thing that can stop hunger is food! Not guns, not teargas, not threats from fat globs like Asari Dokubo and chicken feed Wike! I wonder why they are hiding now…. Come outside let them eat you raw!”

“Intimidation is standard tactics for the Nigerian government. That is all they have… we the people have will and desire for a working Nigeria for all and not a select few! The more they threaten with violence, the more that desire and will for change persists.

“Please, do not let this be ENDSARS 2.0, do not fail yourselves and render meaningless the sacrifices we make. Never in history have there been change without sacrifice. The time I believe is now,” Dj Switch wrote.

  • We need to unite – DJ Switch sends strong message to Nigerians ahead of nationwide protest

We need to unite – DJ Switch sends strong message to Nigerians ahead of nationwide protest

Obianuju Catherine Udeh, known by her stage name – DJ Switch, has urged Nigerians, particularly youths, to unite ahead of a planned nationwide protest.

The female DJ cum activist in a lenghty post via X.com on Thursday asked the youths to fight tribal and religious discord “planted by the political class” to dampen the planned protest.

Catherine argued that until the citizens decide to save their country, the political class will continue to mismanage the economy of the country.

The songs-sound-maker explained that she wanted to remain silent on the planned protest, but her passion for Nigeria could not allow her.

She said, “They say that there is a time for everything. A time to sleep, play, work, fight or die! Africa as a whole needs to know what fucking time it is!

“If you recognize what time it is, then you know what to do! Mind you, the cabals running Nigeria, Nigeria especially are smarter than you all might think. While they may be on edge about this planned protest, especially after seeing the events in Kenya, I promise you that they can bet their left balls that nothing will happen,” she said.

She added that some politicians supporting the protest were only doing it for record purposes and to deceive the youths.

Many have been advised to ‘show’ support for our fundamental human right to freedom of expression for two reasons: So that there is a record of them supporting it and; to guide you all like babies to do your protest and go and sleep.

“So, the question really is this, do you know what time it is? Because if you don’t, just kukuma go and sleep and If you do, then prepare to take the bull by the horn.

“You need to understand that whether you japa or stay, they don’t care! Nigeria is a mining ground for these devils. They take and take with no single thought or care as to where the nation ends up… wasteland!” DJ Switch added.

She urged Nigerians not to allow ethnic division devised by the political class to dampen their resolve for the planned August protest.

The tribal division they’ve sown amongst us was a desperate move on their broken chessboard. I don’t care what tribe you are from or religion you belong to, we need to unite if we want actual change,” she advised.

  • Endsars: It is now legally documented who the criminals actually were – DJ Switch

Endsars: It is now legally documented who the criminals actually were – DJ Switch

Nigerian disc jockey cum activist DJ Switch, has described the judgment of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) community court of justice which found the federal government guilty of human rights abuses in its response to the #EndSARS protest in October 2020 as a victory and a glimmer of hope for truth and justice.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reported that the ECOWAS Court on Wednesday ruled that the federal government of ex-president, Muhammadu Buhari, violated the rights of peaceful protesters.

Reacting to the judgement, DJ switch via her X handle on Thursday wrote: “ENDSARS: After a three year battle against the Nigerian government at the ECOWAS court, justice was served yesterday (Wednesday)! We won!

DJ Switch said she had little to no faith in any branch of service in Nigeria, the reason she had to approach the highest court of the West Africa region.

“Just like many of you, I have little to no faith in any branch of service in Nigeria but, the ECOWAS court is the highest court on the continent and while many find humor and make jokes about its chairman being the illegal president of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, we forged on, hoping still, and trusting that the facts and evidence we had and presented to the court would be irrefutable.

“For those who say, ‘after how many years?’ I want you to understand that most court cases take a long time especially one where the respondent (in this case, the Nigerian government) tries to frustrate you! Either not showing up on set court dates or asking for adjournments for lack of preparation and all other silly excuses under the sun. Still, we had to exercise patience and be steadfast in our pursuit,” she wrote.

She added that with the ruling secured on Wednesday, she could move on with her life. Switch said Wednesday became one of the best days of her life as she sat and heard the ruling read out, indicting the federal government.

I cannot express the emotional trauma we’ve all been through and life changes we’ve had to make but thankfully, with professional help, we’ve been able to work through it and this verdict certainly made a positive impact.

“I have never wavered once in my shared experience and I am grateful to my lawyers for presenting our experiences and evidence with tact and also grateful to the esteemed judges for doing their due diligence.

“Sitting in court yesterday and hearing the verdict from the judges indicting the Nigerian government of the crime they committed on the 20th of October, 2020 was one of the best days of my life since that horrific day and also legally vindicates us all. If no room is left for corruption to fester, the people are served.

“Barring any obstruction from the government to follow the instructions of the court, I can finally move on to other things, passion wise which I hope to share with you all.

“Naysayers can scream all they want! It is now legally documented in history who the criminals actually were,” DJ Switch said.

BREAKING: DJ Switch breaks silence on reported arrest

Celebrity DJ, Obianuju Catherine Udeh, popularly known as DJ Switch has said she was never arrested by the police in Lagos State.

Reports emerged on Thursday that DJ Switch had returned to the country following the #EndSars saga, and was arrested by the police.

However, DJ Switch via platform X (formerly Twitter) said at no time was she arrested.

She wrote: “I was woken up by a barrage of calls and texts this morning.

“I wondered why because I know today is not my birthday. Only to find that I have been arrested.

“One of the links that was sent to me alleged that I had assaulted the police.

“Now, while I am not a fan of many of our policemen and women, I do not condone nor do I support violence against the police.

“Our blogs have such an unhealthy appetite for traffic that they can’t even spend the transport fare it would cost them to go investigate and make certain of the news they share to the public.

“These false reports are dangerous and negatively shape narratives.

“Many people want so badly to believe I am just like those I’ve fought against or believing that I have sacrificed all I have ever worked for just to bring down Nigeria. This is false.

“That being said, my lawyers have screenshotted every blog they can find this false news and this is defamation of my character.

“These blogs have till the end of day to take down this false news and kindly replace with a post correcting their mistake.

“I am not looking for cheap publicity, I hate clout chasing and I actually am not an ass because I was advised to sue immediately which would cost them all a lot.

“So please do the needful and let us learn. Thank you!”

DJ Switch blasts  Phyna over abortion claims

Nigerian Disc Jockey, Obianuju Catherine, fondly called  as DJ Switch, has blasted  Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Josephine Otabor, fondly called Phyna , over a controversial claim on abortion.

The TV star, during an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, argued that most women have  had an abortion at least once or twice.

Reacting to this, DJ Switch, in a post via X, described Phyna’s assertion as a misguided generalisation.

The female DJ noted that she has no reservations about abortion but would not impose her views on other people regarding what they do with their bodies.

She wrote: “Phyna saying there is no woman who hasn’t done abortion once or twice is such a misguided generalisation… I have NEVER done abortion, and there are a million and more women who hasn’t.

“PS: nothing in my opinion is wrong with abortion… I don’t support it personally but I cannot impose my views on another person and what they do with their body… very important to use the words, “some”… “a few” or “most” and not ALL as we don’t know all.”

Guber Polls: DJ Switch laments inhumane treatment meted out to Igbos

Canada based Nigerian  disc jockey, Obianuju Catherine Udeh, professionally known as DJ Switch, has expressed disastisfaction   over the treatment meted out to Igbo in Lagos State.

The Igbo suffered open rejection in Lagos State and were publicly stopped from casting their votes in the presence of security agencies.

The singer is  surprised that the Igbos were subjected to inhumane treatment during the Guber polls in the just concluded elections in Lagos state.

The 2023 Lagos State gubernatorial election was marred by a high level of violence and intimidation.

Some of the attacks on voters and electoral materials were carried out right in front of the security personnel.

Before and during the polls thugs were used to threaten, create fears and force residents to either vote for a particular political party or not to bother casting their votes at all.

Video clips of police officers being compromised are flying around on social media. The police had even described as a mere joke, the threat issued to non-indigenes of Lagos by the State’s Parks Management Committee Chairman, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo.

“I am really sorry to my Igbo brothers and sisters!” The Enugu-born DJ said.

“Truly. You are not the only tribe in the SW but how you’ve all been demonized is so heartbreaking

“APC is a shame Nigeria police shame, Nigeria is a shame. Shame… shame!

Stand strong everyone… stand strong,” she wrote.

#EndSARSMemorial: My life changed on this day for worse – DJ Switch

DJ Switch, Nigerian disc jockey, has said the #EndSARS protest that occurred last year changed her life for the worse and also for good.

Switch, whose real name is Obianuju Udeh, took to her Instagram page on Wednesday to commemorate the first year anniversary of the incident that took place around the Lekki tollgate axis of Lagos last year.

On October 20, 2020, soldiers had opened fire on unarmed youths protesting against police brutality at the tollgate.

To honour those who lost their lives during the protest, youths had staged a demonstration on Wednesday across different parts of the country, chanting solidarity songs.

In the post, DJ Switch condemned the attack on protesters at the #EndSARS memorial in Lekki, Lagos.

She also applauded celebrities and other Nigerians who turned up en masse.

DJ Switch wrote: “On this day, last year, 20.10.20, we were filled with hopes that young Nigerians took a solid stand. Through all the government’s antics, lies, counter-protesters, and thugs that were sent to attack us.

“We stood our ground! When the Nigerian government exhausted all its poorly planned tactics. They unleashed nothing short of evil on its citizens.

“I’ve not been able to talk today. And I cannot imagine what others who had it worse, feel! I am so proud of our young generation of leaders and our celebrities that have shown great leadership.”

Recounting how the movement changed her life, she added: “I also must say, it is not a one-day affair. This is a fight for the very fabric of our nation! My life changed on this day for the worse! But I also believe it changed for good! I now know what it means to need something so bad…

“And that need for me is a better Nigeria! To the youths who risked it all today in order to remember 20.10.20, are in every bit Superman/Superwoman! Thanks to @davido for an anthem to remember!”

I never got asylum in Canada- DJ Switch

Popular DJ, Switch has debunked claims that she got asylum in Canada amid the dust that trailed her participation in last year’s #EndSARS protest.

TheNewsGuru reports that the self-acclaimed activist had been in the news since she recorded the shooting of #EndSARS protesters at Lekki tollgate by soldiers in October 2020.

Switch, whose real name is Obianuju Udeh, had gone into hiding since the incident, having alleged threats to her life at the time.

The location of the entertainer remained unknown since then, with many Nigerians suggesting that she was granted asylum in Canada.

The speculations gained more attention after a video of the DJ testifying before a committee of the Canadian parliament surfaced online.

But in a now-deleted post via her Instagram stories, Switch dismissed the rumours that she was given asylum in Canada, saying she is yet to travel out of the country.

“To the people who know me so well, I don’t really share, except my craft, art comments on social issues that affect us all,” she wrote.

“But let me say this.. news outlets and bloggers, I know traffic is the game but when you don’t really investigate properly and run with things that you don’t know for sure or have verified, you sincerely hurt and in some cases cause serious complications for people in ‘real life’

“I’ve been cooked up in a house for months. I never got asylum in Canada. I didn’t even speak to anyone who claimed they spoke to me on the issue.

  • #EndSARS: DJ Switch trends as Nigerians react to US report on Lekki shootings

#EndSARS: DJ Switch trends as Nigerians react to US report on Lekki shootings

DJ Switch, Nigerian disc jockey and activist is in the news again over the veracity of her claims on losses recorded during last year’s shooting of #EndSARS protesters at Lekki, Lagos.

The new development follows a recent report by the US Department of State that there was no accurate information on the actual casualty figures recorded during the Lekki shooting.

TheNewsGuru recalls that hours before a curfew was scheduled to begin on October 20, soldiers had stormed the Lekki tollgate where youths protesting against police brutality had gathered and started shooting.

Switch, who captured the incident had stated that at least 15 persons were shot dead while several others sustained injuries of varying degrees.

Amnesty International had also insisted that about 10 people died of gunshot injuries during the incident.

However, Lai Mohammed, minister of information, had debunked the claims while the army also said it did not use live bullets on the protesters as alleged by a CNN investigation.

But a new report released on Tuesday, by the US said the inconsistencies in the various reports made it difficult to determine the actual fatalities of the Lekki incident.

The development has since sparked intense reactions on Twitter .

“I can’t believe what I’m reading this morning about Dj Switch. I’m seriously disappointed in my country people, don’t know you people are this daft. So because USA said some shit, you all come to a conclusion that the video (live video for that) was fake and staged,” a user wrote.
