    Davido officially dissolves his record label, moves DMW artists to Nine+ Records

    Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has officially dissolved his record label, Davido Music Worldwide (DMW).

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports this is following a recent partnership Davido with UnitedMasters.

    Davido subsequently announced that he will be moving his signees to a new record label known as Nine+ Records.

    The deal would allow Davido to spearhead artist development and A&R for a lineup of Nigerian artists.

    Consequently, his former record label, Davido Music Worldwide, DMW, has been dissolved.

    Some of the artists currently signed to DMW include Dremo, Yonda, Peruzzi, Idowest from Lagos Island and DJ Ecool.

    Others are Danagog, B-Red, Deekay, May D, Deinde, Ayanfe, Liya, Morravey, SayTheyCallMESG and Logos Olori.

    “All DMW artists would be moved to Nine+ records …. Clearing the air,” Davido wrote via X.

    Nigerian singer, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, popularly known as  Mayorkun, has confirmed that his relationship with his British girlfriend, Cocainna has ended.

    The ‘Betty Butter’ crooner said he is currently single, stressing that he and Cocainna parted ways because their relationship didn’t work out.

    The former Davido Musoc Worldwide Signee, made this known while granting an interview with Lagos based radio station Cool FM Nigeria, hosted by reality star, Tacha.

    Host: “Are you in a relationship right now, Mayorkun?”

    Mayorkun: “No.”

    Host: “So what happened to you and Cocainna?”

    Mayorkun: “Life happened. But we are still cool. We are very cool. It’s just that you meet somebody it works out, you meet somebody it doesn’t work out.”

    The singer debunked claims that he is obsessed with dating London girls, explaining that it was because he spends most of his time in the city.

    He added that “nothing special but London has my heart.”

    Recall that  Mayorkun and Cocainna sparked relationship rumours last year after the UK dancer and influencer took the singer on a date in London.

    The duo later confirmed that they were dating.

    Nigerian singer, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, better known as Mayorkun has said he is still searching for a baby mama.

    The DMW artiste revealed this recently via Snapchat.

    A fan had asked the singer why he is yet to have a baby mama during a question-and-answer session.

    Responding, in the video message, he said, “I still dey find the baby mama [laughs].”

    Popular Nigerian music act, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido the CEO of  Davido Music Worldwide, DMW, has added two new artists to the record label.

    Davido made the announcement on his social media pages after unveiling the tracklist of his soon-to-be-released album ‘Timeless’.

    DMW’s management also confirmed the two new signees via a statement on Wednesday in Lagos.

    The new signees, Morravey and Logos Olori were among the artists featured on the long-anticipated album. Others include legendary Beninese singer, Angelique Kidjo, British rapper, Skepta, and the trio of Nigerian singers, Asake, Fave, and Cavemen.

    Morravey is said to be a Port Harcourt-bred singer/songwriter with a unique flair for blending Afro sounds using her quintessential vocals, while Logos Olori is a sensational Afrobeats singer that draws musical inspiration from his Yoruba roots.

    Davido rebranded his DMW record label which he established in 2016 to DMW 2.0. The relaunching is expected to take place soon.

    DWM is home to Liya, Peruzzi, May D, and Dremo. Mayorkun, Lil Frosh, and Yonda were also formerly signed to the label.

    Pop singer, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has proved many wrong that music was all he could hold down. He proved recently that apart from singing he could as well be an emergency Pastor.

    Like all humans, when faced with the prospect of an untimely death, Davido could not hold back his fears recently when the private jet he was in ran into heavy turbulence in the air.

    He wasted no time in going spiritual during the turbulent flight as he resorted to prayers and worshiping songs.

    The billionaire singer could be seen in the private jet very scared as the plane went through the turbulence on the flight path.

    In a video, which has now gone viral, the singer was seen praying fervently for survival.

    One of his 30BG shared the video online with the caption,

    “DIS MOMENT EEH…DIS IS WHEN U KNOW SAY MY OGA SABI PRAY”.

    Also sharing the video, Davido stated that he only trusts his father’s plane.

    “I ONLY TRUST MY PAPA PLANE”.

    TheNewsGuru.com reports that Davido’s music blends traditional African elements with global mainstream pop.

    He won the Next Rated award in 2012 at The Headies after releasing “Dami Duro”, the second single from his debut studio album Omo Baba Olowo(2012).

    Between 2013 and 2015, he released a number of hit singles, and in January 2016, he signed a record deal with Sony Music. He then founded the record label Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), to which acts Dremo, Mayorkun, Peruzzi and Liya have been signed.

    In July 2016, Davido signed a record deal with Sony’s RCA Records. In October 2016, he released the 5-track EP Son of Mercy, which was supported by the singles “Gbagbe Oshi”, “How Long” and “Coolest Kid in Africa”.

    In April 2017, Davido re-negotiated his contract with Sony due to creative control issues and later that year he released five singles including “If” and “Fall”.

    “If” generated worldwide social media activity while “Fall” became the longest-charting Nigerian pop song in Billboard history.[5][6] Davido has been famously referred to as ‘The king of modern-day afrobeats’.

    Davido released, his second studio album A Good Time in November 2019, supported by singles including “Blow My Mind” featuring popular American singer Chris Brown .

    The singer was cited as one of the Top 100 most influential Africans by New African magazine in 2019.

    He released his third studio album A Better Time, on Friday November 13, 2020.

    In anticipation to his birthday (21 November 2021) the afrobeat singer Davido took to his Instagram story to ask colleagues to each send him a million naira. Davido noted that he received N200m from fans and friends and added N50million.

    Davido donated N250million to all orphanages across Nigeria. The singer made this known in a statement ahead of the birthday. To disburse the money, he constituted a 5-man committee to take care of the logistics.

    In March 2022, Davido was featured on “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)” along side (Trinidad Cardona and AISHA) the first single of the multi-song FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ Official Soundtrack. It marked Davido as the first Nigerian singer to be featured in a FIFA World Cup single.

    In May 2022, Davido released another song titled “Stand Strong” that featured The Samples Choir. According to the Naija banquet, the song is a breakaway from the usual hop/dance style of the Nigerian singer. In the record, Davido reminisces on his music journey and the battles he fights every day. Also, it is the story of his healing.

    Majesty crooner, Peruzzi stunned many recently when he stated that he has never been in a relationship.

    The singer made this known during a chat with Beat 99 FM following the release of his latest studio album ‘Rum and Boogie‘.

    “I’m seeing many people but nobody is seeing me back. It’s a problem. No, I’m not actively in a relationship. Well, I’m sleeping with somebody. These days I run away, wahala no dey finish. My exes have turned feminists,” he said.

    When asked about believing in the notion that relationships are overrated, he said: “I don’t know, I haven’t been in a relationship.” On being single, the singer went ahead and teased: “It’s just crazy. Single life, I’ll just keep sleeping with somebody.”

    He also opened up on what he thinks is the next move in his music career,.

    “I’m trying to do more international collaborations. I don’t even mean like yankee-yankee. Just like East Africa, as long as it’s cross-border. My target is Africa for now because I feel like that’s the next step”.

    Shedding light on the claim that he is a cousin to Chioma Avril, Davido’s fiance:”He said “You know how you’ll be related but not blood-blood. You’d be like ‘my cousin, my cousin’ and everyone runs with that.”

    Nigerian pop star, Davido has added Akinmayokun Awodumila, popularly known as May D to the list of artistes signed to his record label, DMW

    May D’s new affiliation to DMW will definitely give him the platform he needs to become sought after.

    He took to social media to make the announcement by writing, “My New Family, I’m So Excited! PROBLEM #DMW #30BG #CONFAMENT ??? @davidoofficial ??” .

    TheNewsGuru recalls that May D recently called out P-Square lamenting the fate he suffered when he worked with them as a signed artist on their Square Records .

    He has to his credit songs like Ile Ijo and Gat Me High both from his Chapter One album released in 2013 and a feature on P-Square’s Chop My Money remix.

  • This Mayorkun , Dremo freestyle is shameful!

    DMW acts, Dremo and Mayorkun are one of the rising stars in the industry are the moment. As a matter of fact, Mayorkun won the Rookie of the year award at The Headies last year.

    Iconic British radio DJ/ presenter hosted the duo of Mayorkun and Dremo on his popular freestyle show .In time past, he has hosted the likes of Wizkid, Jesse Jagz, Iceprince and lot’s more.

    The DMW artistes failed to shine during their Freestyle session. It lacked the basic ingredients of a good freestyle. The first lines of Dremo’s freestyle didn’t rhyme .Mayorkun had to adapt Simi’s You be tiff song to be able to flow on the beat. We don’t expect 100% perfection from freestyles because they are usually improvisations, but this one is embarrassing and shameful.
