    Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe, who allegedly suffered multiple fractures as a result of beatings from estranged husband Lanre Gentry has decried the spate of domestic violence that has become rampant in Nigeria. To validate her grouse, Aigbe shared pictures of a woman who was assaulted by husband, stating that If any woman gets provokes by her husband, she should walk out of the marriage.

    She puts it this way:” According to Human Rights Activist lawyer Emeka Uguwonye. This woman was battered by her husband! How long are we going to condone this inhumane act for?

    Some very shallow and evil minded fellows will say she must have done something to provoke the man! For Christ sake, If you are provoked can’t you control yourself? Instead of killing your partner or rendering the person disabled!

    “If you feel your partner provokes you to the extent of bringing out that animal in you please do yourself a favor by walking out of that marriage. We should learn to control our anger as violence doesn’t solve anything. If you know you have anger management problems, please get professional help. Battery and assault is a crime punishable under the law” she said.

No seriously, I love this topic ..We are always talking about domestic violence and then it is all about the woman. There are men who are more beaten up emotionally than the women they beat up physically. Some women are headstrong and can traumatize their men mentally that they don’t know when they hit in anger”.

    ‘Shame on celebrities mocking victims of domestic violence’- Juliet Ibrahim

    Ibrahim puts it this way: ”Our value as women has been taken for granted due to domestic violence, egoism and male chauvinism. Never joke about domestic violence. Violence is never a choice anyone should make!! ‘Why Didn’t You Just Leave?’ A question we are all quick to ask but we should never be the judge until we hear Domestic Violence Survivors Explain Why It’s Never That Simple!!! 80% of women experience violence in relationships around the world and its growing rapidly; We need to speak up and lend our voices as much as we can to encourage these Victims to speak up early enough to avoid a nasty fate, keeping quiet and thinking that He/She will change is not the solution!

    “ Also; When a gun is present in a domestic violence situation, it increases the risk of homicide for women by 500 percent. #domesticviolence shame unto every so-called celebrity that is actually tweeting and snapping while mocking any thing concerning another woman’s well being that is out there in the news… don’t forget Karma is a real bitch; be careful what you wish for others. #sayNotodomesticviolence Thank God there are authorities in place nowadays to do the needful and deal with these maniacs! Violence is not an excuse and should never be a choice no matter what

  • Woman allegedly beaten to death by her husband on Christmas day

    According to Lawyer and domestic violence activist Emeka Ugwuonye who shared this photo and story on his Facebook group’s page, the pregnant lady was allegedly beaten by her husband on Christmas day until she bled to death. He wrote;

    WHY IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP HAMMERING ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

    Many times I have tried to shift attention away from domestic violence. But there are reasons why I could not do that. First, it is one of the aims and objectives listed on DPA Constitution. Second, everyday there is a new domestic violence case begging for my attention. That is; everyday some wife-beater beats his woman and even kills her like in this case.

    We just can’t stop and we need to press harder against domestic violence. A member just reminded me of another deadly domestic violence case that nearly escaped my attention. Tomorrow, we shall pursue the animal that killed this pregnant woman. I hope he is not one of these men attacking me on our wall.
