    PSquare break up

The news about the ‘split’ of pop star group, PSquare [Peter and Paul Okoye] was one of the major entertainment headlines last year. The Okoye’s at different times came up with stories on their social media handles suggesting all wasn’t well in their household.

Their brother/manager Jude, wasn’t left out in the drama as one of the twins, Peter, insisted that Jude wasn’t their manager again.

    Toyin Aimakhu

Actress, Toyin Aimakhu was ensnared in various controversies this year. The first one that comes to mind was the messy scandal she had with her estranged husband and the drama that ensued.

Toyin found love in the waiting arms of Seun Egbegbe a movie marketer. Their break up tale was a fodder for bloggers to feed on. Seun reportedly seized her phones threatening movie producers not to feature her in their movies.

In addition, Toyin who fondly calls herself ‘World best’ was involved in the fundraising for Mayowa, a deceased ovarian cancer patient. The actress was moved by Mayowa’s plea on social media and leveraged on her star power to raise funds for the lady.

The story changed when accusations and counter-accusations began to emerge that Mayowa’s family misled Nigerians. Toyin stormed out of LUTH calling on police officers. This led to another extended social media spectacle.

    Omawunmi vs. Zinnia

Earlier in the year, Megbele singer Omawunmi had an interview with HFtv presenter Zinnia. What happened during the interview became a trending topic on social media for weeks. The rhythm of the interview changed when Zinnia asked her about an alleged smoking and drinking habit.

Omawunmi said:” Have you seen me smoking before? So why would you say that? Now you see me as an artiste. I am contributing what I can. I make music the way that I should. And I come here I honour your invitation. And you’re supposed to mean me well. Do you mean me well?

She was visibly angry, stammering and said to the presenter: “I will not honour you with a response. I feel like that is a taint to my character. You can’t ask me to kill a rumour that you are not sure about. So first and foremost, as a rumour, you need to go and dig and get your facts right before you ask somebody something. So I will maintain that if you have not seen me smoking and you come out and say it on a National TV that means you don’t mean me well and that is the end of this interview”.

Irritated Omawunmi walked out on the interview.

    Linda Ikeji vs Wizkid

Wizkid has always had a beef for famous Nigerian blogger, Linda Ikeji. What ignited the feud between them was a story published on Linda’s blog saying Wizzy has been evicted from his Lekki home after his rent expired. This made the self -proclaimed star boy angry.

  • Donjazzy, Olamide, others boycott The Headies 2016

Mavin boss, Don jazzy and his YBNL counterpart, Olamide, who were the most talked about artistes at last year’s edition of The Headies award, as a result of the drama that ensued between both parties leads the long list of Nigerian artistes who boycotted the 2016 edition.

The show which held on December 23, 2016, at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotels & Suites, had a very low turnout of celebrities as many of the awardees were not there to claim their wins.

Like a planned movie script neither DonJazzy nor Olamide was present at this year’s edition of the award.

Even the signed artistes on both record labels like, Adekunle Gold, Lil Kesh, Tiwa Savage, Dr Sid, Korede Bello and others were not present at the award.

This probably, could be a ploy to avoid a repeat of what happened last year.
