Wizkid, Drake thrill fans at O2 Arena

Multiple award winning Nigerian Afro-pop superstar, Ayo Balogun aka Wizkid on Tuesday grace the 20,000 capacity O2 Arena at Peninsula Square, London, U.K and thrilled fans with a scintillating performance that included collaboration with Canadian rapper, Drake.

This was in completion of his five province tour of Canada in the early hours of Tuesday.

The tour saw the `Stew’ crooner thrilled fans in Ottawa, Montreal, Edmonton, Vancouver and Toronto

At the O2 Arena, Drake brought Wizkid out to add more adrenalin to the ocean of crowd already getting serenaded by the `Soco’ crooner.

As the 28 year-old Surulere-born singer was about to begin the performance for his hit song `Come Closer’, Drake joined him on stage for an epic, energy-filled display.

As the performance for `Come Closer’ drew to a close, a visibly thrilled Drake said, “I need one more song’’, indicating his intention to perform another song with Wizkid.

The DJ duly obliged and the song `Soco’ began to blare from the speakers. Upon completing that performance, Wizkid briefly left the stage.

It was a perfect delivery by the duo to no fewer than 20,000 fans in the O2 Arena.

Wizkid and Drake collaborated on two songs – ‘One Dance’ and ‘Come Closer (Remix)’ which topped the charts in 2016 and 2017.

In a recent interview in Toronto, Canada, the Star Boy Records boss hinted that he would collaborate with Drake to do another song soon.

While we wait patiently for the new song, the tour of Canada was a huge success.

This has proven to the world that Nigerians are no back benchers in the global entertainment industry.

  • Your producer betrayed you, not Kanye West-Pusha T tells Drake

Following the accusation leveled against Kanye West by Drake stating that he betrayed him, Pusha T has spoken out to set the records straight.
Pusha during Joe Budden’s podcast, addressed Drake’s allegation that West leaked the secret about his child with an adult film star.
Pusha T had used the information to condemn Drake in a diss track titled ‘Story of Adidon’.
The G.O.O.D. Music president said Noah ’40’ Shebib, Drake’s long-time producer, told his lover about the Canadian rapper’s child.

“The information came from 40. It didn’t come from Kanye, at all… 40 is sleeping with a woman, who begins he talks to daily. Five, six hours a day… and ultimately speaks about how he’s disgruntled about certain things, notoriety and things involving Drake and his career, and so on and so forth.
“With that also came the fact that Drake has a child. With that also came the trip that everybody took to go see the child, and bring him gifts, and all this information. She divulged this information. That’s where it came from”, Pusha revealed.

Pusha T noted that he was against Kanye West’s effort to mend fences with Drake over the incident.
The rapper said he told West: “What are you apologising for? You ain’t give me nothing, you didn’t give me anything in regards to aiding in this drama.
“Because of all that, now dude thinks what he thinks. We gotta wear that. The only reason I’m here now is because he was so passionate about the whole M.S. thing. But your friend is the reason why… that’s how it came about. That narrative gotta die, it’s done.”

  • Drake breaks silence over rift with Kanye West

Drake breaks silence over rift with Kanye West

Celebrated pop star, Drake has broken his silence to speak broadly about his feud with rapper Kanye West.
During a chat with LeBron James and Maverick Carter on HBO Sports series, the rapper accused West of betraying him.

Drake noted that he confided in West about his son and plans to release the ‘Scorpion’ album while working with him during a recording session in Wyoming.
The rapper said West never informed him that he was working on an album even after he told him about his own project, only for the Chicago rapper to release ‘Ye’ weeks before ‘Scorpion’ was billed to come out.
“He sold me on this whole speech of like, ‘I’m in a great place, I’m making money, and I’m a father, and I wanna be Quincy Jones and help you,” Drake said.
“But in order to do that, you’ve gotta be transparent with me, you gotta play me your music, and you gotta tell me when you’re dropping. And I know you don’t like to do things like that.
“I guess we all kind of felt a genuine vibe from it, so I play him my music and I told him when I was dropping. He played me Lift Yourself and he was like, “Yo, you can have this if you want.” And I was hyped. I started writing to it.
“I went and ended up pretty much spending the majority of my time working on his music, just trying to like cook up ideas for him.”
The superstar said West prompted Pusha-T’s ‘The Story of Adidon’ diss track which uncovered the fact that he fathered a secret child with an adult film star.
“I’m in Wyoming. I play him ‘March 14.’ I send him a picture of my son. I tell him I’m having trouble with my son’s mother,” he said.
“We had a conversation. I wake up, and all these dates are out … Then the next two days, whatever, I wake up now to this text from him, passive like, ‘Yo, I love you brother’.
“Then, the first album drops. And, of course, there’s a diss song toward me that you produced, that’s talking about writing?. I was just there with you as friends helping you, and now you’re dissing me. So I’m like, man, this is dark.
“I knew something was gonna come up about my kid. They had to add the deadbeat dad thing to make it more appealing.”

  • Wizkid teams up with Drake’s producer for new song

Nigerian Afropop star, Ayo Balogun aka Wizkid is currently working on a new single with Metro Boomin, Drake’s producer.

Boomin is an American producer, record executive and DJ, whose early production success came with tracks such as ILoveMakonnen’s 2014 hit ‘Tuesday’ as well as Future and Drake’s 2015 ‘Jumpman’.

Wizkid shared a photo of himself and Metro together in the studio during a recording session on Tuesday through his Twitter handle @wizkidayo, with the caption “Metro x Wiz. 4Life!”

The producer was featured on Forbes as ‘easily one of the most in-demand hitmakers in the world’ list and has worked on hit singles such as ‘Congratulations’ by Post Malone featuring Quavo, ‘Tunnel Vision’ by Kodak Black and ‘Bounce Back’ by Big Sean.

Wizkid, who stated that his first official single for 2018 will be dropping soon, worked with a number of international producers on his ‘Sounds from the Other Side’ EP.

The list of renowned producers whom the ‘Soco’ crooner has worked with includes New York’s Dre Skull, DJ Mustard and Major Lazer.

Earlier this year, Wizkid released a number of singles with producers like KillerTunes on ‘Fake Love’ and Northboi on Soco.

The 28-year- old recently sold out the O2 hall in London; and is set to release a much anticipated album ‘Made In Lagos’ later in 2018.

  • Sad! Three arrested over Drake’s ‘in my feelings’ dance challenge

Three social media users have been arrested by the Gulf Emirate of Abu Dhabi for participating in Drake’s viral dance challenge called “In my feelings”.

The dance challenge entails that people get out of a slowly moving car and leave the door open as they dance alongside it in harmony with the music.

Amazingly, the public prosecutor’s office did not reveal the names of the three people detained.

“Participants in this challenge get out of a moving car and leave the door open and dance on a public road next to the car, which is a danger to them and others on the road,” it said in a statement on Monday.

“This behaviour is contrary to the values of the Emirates’ society and constitutes a violation of public morals.”

The detainees will be examined “on charges of endangering their lives and the lives of others, and violating public morals using social networking sites to promote practises that are incompatible with the values and traditions of society.”

The prosecutor’s office also revealed that anyone who participates in the challenge could be punished with a fine or imprisonment.

Drake becomes first artiste to amass 10 billion streams on Apple Music

  • Drake becomes first artiste to amass 10 billion streams on Apple Music

Popular entertainer, Drake just made Apple Music streaming history by becoming the first featured artiste to amass 10 billion streams. His latest double-album Scorpion undoubtedly pushed him into unprecedented territory; numbers that will surely proliferate over time.

Artistes like Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Adele, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, and Cardi B, have also hit the 1 billion streams on Apple music.

News of Drake’s accomplishment offsets the report that he was losing out on exposure and on dollars by restricting the physical presence of Scorpion in record stores.

  • Rihanna uncomfortable over Drake’s declaration of love for her

Rihanna uncomfortable over Drake’s declaration of love for her

In August 2016, everyone on social media had a new couple crush when Drake got on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards and professed his love for Rihanna.

Everyone predicted that the moment seemed like the start of a relationship everyone was here for, but there was one person who didn’t feel that way.

In a recent chat with Vogue, Rihanna declares that while the world was watching and seemingly loving the moment, she actually felt quite the opposite.

“Waiting through that speech was probably the most uncomfortable part.I don’t like too many compliments; I don’t like to be put on blast.”

Part of Rihanna’s discomfort at that moment, she said, was due to the fact that on one of the biggest stages in music — receiving one of the biggest music awards — she felt like the spotlight shifted from her to him.

“The VMAs is such a fan-focused awards show, so having that energy around me, and knowing the people who had received the award in the past, made it feel like a big deal.”

As for the status of their relationship now? Rih Rih admitted, “It is what it is.”

“We don’t have a friendship now, but we’re not enemies either.”
