The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has hit back at the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, saying he has lost touch with Nigeria, and its happenings after relocating fully to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

TheNewsGuru recalls that Atiku during his campaign in Akure said the Federal Government under Muhammadu Buhari’s regime has not done anything for Nigerians in its eight years in office.

Lai Mohammed reacted to Atiku’s comment at the seventh edition of PMB Administration Scorecard in Abuja on Monday.

“The worst offender in this regard has been the presidential candidate of the PDP, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar,” he said.

“During his recent campaign in Akure, the former VP was quoted as saying the APC had not done anything for Nigeria in eight years. What a preposterous statement from somebody who should know.

“I guess we can excuse His Excellency the former Vice President who, until recently, had fully relocated to Dubai, thus losing touch with Nigeria.“

The PMB Administration Scorecard series was launched in October to showcase the achievements of the Buhari government.

Lawmaker assures release of Nigerian lady detained in UAE

Rep. Beni Lar (PDP-Plateau), has said that Ms Dinchi Lar, a detained Nigerian lady in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) would regain her freedom in December.

Recall that Dinchi Lar was initially jailed for one year for exposing the maltreatment of Nigerians at Dubai airport.

Lar, representing Langtang North, Langtang South Federal Constituency of Plateau State, said this during a news conference at the premises of the national assembly in Abuja.

The lawmaker commended the Federal Government for embarking on measure to secure a light punishment for the lady.

The excited lawmaker said, “my constituent who was imprisoned in the UAE is going to be released in December. I thank the ministry of Foreign Affairs for taken this up.”

Barr Bako Ventimimi, the family of the detained lady, expressed happiness for the effort which resulted in the reduction of the sentence, adding that it had been a grave concern for the family.

“Everybody, particularly the youths, have expressed concern and we are glad that the Federal Government and the lawmaker listened to our cry and did the needful,” she said

He also commended the media for the great job in pushing through the discussion.

On August 31, Lar had taken to her Twitter page to share photos and videos of herself and other people she identified as Nigerians being detained at the Dubai international airport.

She wrote, “I am at the Dubai international airport and myself and some other Nigerians with valid visas are being held in a room hours after arriving with no explanation and no information on what we have done. Please help me. There are more than 20 of us here.”

The lawmaker commended the UAE government for tampering justice with mercy, adding that the gesture showed that international diplomacy could still work.

According to her, the sentence was reduced to three months through the untiring effort of the Nigerian government.

She said the sentence should send a strong caution to Nigerian youths to know the law of the country they intend traveling to before embarking on such journeys.

The lawmaker said the UAE government was magnanimous, adding that some countries might not be that generous, while urging Nigerian youths traveling abroad to be law abiding and know the country they intend traveling to.

Lar also commended the National Assembly for the passage of the Federal University of Agriculture to be sited in Lantang, Plateau, for President Muhammadu Buhari’s assent.

She said the bill, if assented to, would provide the requisite opportunities, saying Lantang has some of the best crops of students and many others would be exploited through the university of Agriculture when signed into law.

She refuted allegation that she has left the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for another party, saying, “I believe in consistency, whether good or bad I believe in staying where I am okay.”

Atiku is comfortable in Dubai, he’ll actually relocate – Oshiomhole

Former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, has stated that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar will actually relocate to Dubai.

Oshiomhole said this on Wednesday morning while fielding questions on the Arise Tv morning show.

Oshiomhole was clarifying an earlier statement credited to the vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Kashim Shettima, saying that Atiku would be retiring to Dubai after the 2023 presidential election.

“Given Atiku’s record of movement, that once he suffers a defeat – it is on record, once he loses an election – he moves to Dubai. And so, he is saying so because we are confident that nothing has changed. Nigeria has rejected him three-four times, and even the best partnership he enjoyed in 2019 with Peter Obi did not deliver him.

“We are confident that, God willing, using the same Nigerian people who had rejected him in the past, they will reject him again. And because once he is rejected, he has a history of relocating to Dubai. That is what the Vice president meant.

“Atiku will actually relocate to Dubai, he has been doing it. He is comfortable there. I hope that the ban on Nigeria does not affect him. Hopefully he will go there,” he said.

” We have what it takes to be better than Dubai, the Emirates did not make the place themselves, it is a combination of people from all walks life that made Dubai. We should give ourselves self-ban, we have nothing to lose,” he said.

First Republic Aviation Minister, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi has said if the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi wins the 2023 election criminals and looters will leave the country and run to Dubai.

While declaring his support for Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba Ahmed, the 93-year-old stated this at his country home.

He said, “I don’t think it was just an accident that Peter Obi emerged. I think it was God’s way. If anything happens to him, it would worsen the situation in Nigeria and the situation may degenerate to something non-describable.

“If they’re afraid of Obi who is just a beginner, why should they not be eternally afraid? Peter Obi is the only governor who left office and nobody asked him any questions.

“He didn’t know the office of EFCC, ICPC or DSS because of his clean records. The man who succeeded him wanted to leave the country two hours he handed over, meaning he wanted to sneak away.

“Many other governors who left office have been arrested and charged to court but they ran into Senate or APC as a party and today their cases are closed. That’s the kind of rotten country you have. Yet people are suffering, and may continue to suffer.

“I don’t think God created us to continue to suffer. The 2023 election is an opportunity he’s provided for us to right the wrongs. You will see how the whole world will embrace Nigeria if Peter Obi wins the election and all the criminals and looters will melt away to Dubai.”
