La Liga: Hazard forced out of Madrid training

Eden Hazard has been forced out of training at Real Madrid.

The muscle fatigue that was detected on Tuesday has turned into a much more serious problem, an injury that could keep him out for between four and six weeks.

As such, the Real Madrid forward will miss the first leg against Atalanta in the last 16 of the Champions League. He will hope to be back in time for the second leg in Madrid on March 16.

Hazard was able to take part in Wednesday’s training session after failing to do so on Tuesday, but Marca reports the Belgian left training before Zinedine Zidane’s session had been completed.

In addition, COPE reported that Hazard had undergone some more medical tests, having done some on Tuesday, which only detected an increase in muscle fatigue.

Football pundit slaughters Eden Hazard, says I could do more

Eden Hazard has been slammed after Real Madrid’s Supercopa de Espana semifinal defeat to Athletic Bilbao last night.

Real coach Zinedine Zidane defended Hazard’s performance in the aftermath.

But El Chringuito’s pundit Tomás Roncero blasted the Belgian: “Madrid has played with 10 and he’s starting to touch my nose. I understand that Zidane wants to save soldier Hazard, but Hazard is not here, if I go out I can contribute more and I mean it.

“Hazard has not found out that he is the franchise player, who cost 100 million and he’s the highest paid on the team.

“The only time he has been alone, he has not shot because he is afraid. Hazard should be the player to win you matches.”

In addition, the pundit also had a few words against Zidane: “I don’t understand Zidane’s attitude, smiling after greeting Marcelino, you have to say hello, yes, but with an angry face for having lost a title.”

  • La Liga: ‘Hazard has switched off again at Real Madrid’

La Liga: ‘Hazard has switched off again at Real Madrid’

Eden Hazard has “switched off” again at Real Madrid, according to Tony Cascarino, who says the ex-Chelsea star is failing to live up to his “great” potential.

Madrid invested €100 million (£90m/$118m) in Hazard’s talents in the summer of 2019, having seen him become one of Europe’s most effective wingers during his seven-year stay at Stamford Bridge.

The Belgium international scored 110 goals in 352 outings for Chelsea, winning two Premier League titles, two Europa League crowns and the FA Cup in the process, but has so far been unable to reach the same heights at Santiago Bernabeu.

Although Hazard did manage to become a Liga winner in his first season with the Blancos, he only scored once in 16 domestic outings amid persistent struggles for form and fitness.

Those issues have continued at the start of the 2020-21 campaign, with Cascarino of the opinion that the ex-Blues talisman has allowed his standards to slip.

The former Chelsea forward says Hazard was guilty of doing the same throughout his time in west London, with a lack of consistency preventing him from nailing down a place among the greatest players in history.

“Eden Hazard is an incredibly gifted player, but he’s had a really difficult time since he went to Real Madrid for that huge fee,” Cascarino told talkSPORT.

“Injuries and obviously the coronavirus pandemic hasn’t helped him, it’s affected his career, but what a talent he can be for Belgium.

“He went to Real Madrid to become the best player in the world, he even mentioned that, he talked about that when he joined Madrid, but what a difficult time he’s had since he’s joined. It’s been really hard on him. He’s found it tough.

“Obviously injuries have played a huge part in it, he went to Real Madrid and apparently was a tad overweight, he lost his confidence, but he seems to recovered his fitness of late.

“Belgium miss him. I can remember his performance against Brazil in the quarter-finals of the 2018 World Cup, it was him and Neymar both out on the right and Hazard outplayed Neymar all night. He was just superb.

“I really miss seeing Hazard being Hazard, because he is a great player when he’s on.

“He has done this a couple of times, he has switched off in his career and Chelsea fans will tell you. There were a couple of times where he just switched off at Chelsea.

“But when he switches on he’s up there with the best players who have ever played the game.

“We just haven’t seen Hazard at a best for a long time.”

  • Chelsea raking in amazing cash amount from Hazard sale

Chelsea raking in amazing cash amount from Hazard sale

Chelsea are still making massive money from Eden Hazard’s sale to Real Madrid.

Indeed, so much so, that last summer’s transfer is helping fund this year’s spending spree.

HLN says the breakdown of the agreement negotiated by renowned hard-nosed director Marina Granovskaia has been revealed.

The Blues will end up banking £143million in total having been paid £36m up front last year.

This time around Real will pay Chelsea £50m and next year will see the coffers boosted even further to the tune of £57m.

The deal is all the more remarkable when Hazard was already pushing to leave the club and had just one year left on his contract at the time.

I have had the worst season of my career – Hazard

Eden Hazard has admitted to having mixed emotions after Real Madrid’s La Liga triumph, insisting the 2019-20 campaign has been “the worst season” of his career to date.

Much was expected of Hazard when he completed a €100 million (£91m/$114m) move to Santiago Bernabeu from Chelsea last summer.

The Belgium international was initially seen as the natural successor to Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Juventus in 2018, but he hasn’t quite been able to live up to that billing during his debut season in La Liga.

He told France Info: “This year, we collectively won this league title, but I have surely had the worst season of my career individually.”

How Drogba lured me to Chelsea – Hazard

Real Madrid ace Eden Hazard admits Didier Drogba was key to him joining Chelsea.

In conversation with Het Laatste Nieuws, Hazard revealed how Chelsea legend Drogba pulled together his contacts in order to act as a persuader.

Knowing that Hazard played alongside Gervinho at Lille, Drogba was able to speak with the youngster via his Ivory Coast international team-mate.

“Suddenly Gervinho’s phone rang in the dressing room near Lille. It was Drogba on the line. He insisted that he tell me, ‘I need to talk to him’,” Hazard revealed.

“Drogba said to me, ‘You have to come to Chelsea’.

“At that moment I was still in doubt. Chelsea was not doing well in the Premier League. They wouldn’t play Champions League the following year. [But] After that final, the choice was made quickly.”

Hazard added: “I knew I would easily adapt. London, close to home, not too far from Lille. [Kevin] De Bruyne had played there, Romelu [Lukaku] was around. There were enough French speakers. I knew I would play enough. I was only sad that he, Drogba, decided to leave.”

  • Guardiola blames Madrid for Hazard’s poor form

Guardiola blames Madrid for Hazard’s poor form

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has questioned Real Madrid’s role in Eden Hazard’s difficulties to settle in La Liga.

Hazard secured a dream move to Los Blancos from Chelsea in June last year for a reported fee of €100 million (£90m/$110m).

After questions were raised over the 29-year-old’s fitness in pre-season, Hazard has struggled to perform strongly for Real to date, with a string of injuries not helping his cause.

Currently recovering from a foot injury, the Belgian has one goal and four assists to show from his first 13 appearances for his new club.

Having seen Hazard up close in the Premier League, Guardiola believes the player’s quality can’t be questioned and any dip in form is down to Los Blancos.

“If he’s not playing well, something’s going on at Madrid because he is really good,” Guardiola said on Post United in an interview with YouTuber ‘DjMaRiiO’.

“Not a top player, another level above. What we saw in England… he is world class. But the whole world knows that you need a period of adaptation.”

  • La Liga: Hazard can’t replace Ronaldo – Wenger

Former Arsenal manager Arsenal Wenger says Real Madrid still haven’t seen the real Eden Hazard, but even when they do, he still won’t replace Cristiano Ronaldo.
Hazard registered his first La Liga goal and assist in Madrid’s last game before the international break, a 4-2 win over Granada which kept Zinedine Zidane’s side top of the Spanish table.

Despite their lofty position, Madrid have already faltered this campaign and are yet to discover their best form.

“He will be the answer but not in replacing Ronaldo, that is for sure,” Wenger told beIN Sports when asked about Hazard. “He will not score 50 goals a year because that’s now how they play football.

“They need another goalscorer at Real Madrid because [Karim] Benzema is now 32 and if they had someone younger around him to score the goals, maybe they could do very well.

“Eden Hazard is an exceptional player to create chances to sometimes finish when he needs to in the big games.

“He’s not scared of anybody – I don’t think Real have yet to see the real Hazard, he’s not as sharp physically as he can be. That’s why I believe they will discover the real Hazard.”

  • La Liga: I’m not a Galactico yet, says Hazard

La Liga: I’m not a Galactico yet, says Hazard

Eden Hazard says he does not feel like a ‘Galactico’ yet following a summer move from Chelsea which could exceed £150m in value.

The Real Madrid forward, 28, has started three games in La Liga but is yet to record a goal or an assist.

The Belgian has inherited all-time top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo’s number seven shirt and is widely regarded as his replacement for the 2019-20 season.

“I’m not a Galactico yet. I have to show that I can be one,” said Hazard.

“We all know the history of the number seven shirt at this club and I want to show I can be the best in the world. I want to give my all, not just in matches but in training too.”

Hazard, who cost an initial £89m, could start Real Madrid’s Champions League group-stage clash with Club Brugge on Tuesday having played 70 minutes in their 3-0 defeat by Paris Saint-Germain.

That defeat leaves Real bottom of Group A and they are looking to avoid three successive Champions League defeats for the first time in their history.

“I can do better, I’m critical of myself as well, but working every day we will change things,” said Hazard.

“Not everything is perfect but we’re first in La Liga, we lost in Paris, maybe I was set back because of the injury but now I’m at 100% and hope to give my all in the coming games.”

  • Why I left Chelsea for Madrid – Eden Hazard

Why I left Chelsea for Madrid – Eden Hazard

Real Madrid ace, Eden Hazard, has explained why he left Chelsea for the La Liga giants.

Hazard left Chelsea in the summer transfer window to Real Madrid.

Hazard stated that one of the reasons he left the Blues was because he dreamt of playing for Real Madrid someday.

The Belgium international stated this on Tuesday ahead of Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League group-stage clash against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

Asked why he chose to come to Real Madrid, Hazard told UEFA media on Monday: “It was in my plans. When I was at Chelsea, I already knew that my dream was to play for this club someday.

“I hadn’t expected to play seven years at Chelsea, but in the end everything went well and I had the chance to win something every year.

“I think that’s why I stayed there so long. Now it’s a dream for me to be here and I hope to make the most of it.”
