Hazard reveals Sarri suits him more than Mourinho

Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard says he is more suited to the philosophy of current Blues head coach Maurizio Sarri than former boss Jose Mourinho.

Hazard, who was the subject of public criticism from Sarri in January, previously expressed his regret at how his time with Mourinho ended at Chelsea and said he wants to work with the coach again.

However, the Belgium international forward admits he shares more similarities with Sarri, telling Chelsea’s official website: “All the managers I’ve played for have given me something.

“From when I started with Claude Puel at Lille, to now with Maurizio Sarri. They all see football in different ways which is why I’m the player I am. They have all given me important advice.

“Jose Mourinho was special, but the way Sarri and Rudi Garcia [former Lille coach] like to play is more like my philosophy of football, but they’ve all given me a lot.”

  • Chelsea targets Barcelona star to replace Hazard

Chelsea have identified Barcelona ace, Philippe Coutinho, as a potential replacement for playmaker, Eden Hazard.

Hazard on Tuesday confirmed that he has made a decision over his future at Stamford Bridge.

The Belgium international, who is yet to sign a new deal with Chelsea, has less than a year remaining on his contract.

The 28-year-old has also made no secret of his desire to play for Real Madrid.

According to The Independent, Chelsea are willing to sign Coutinho as Hazard’s replacement at the end of the season.

Coutinho has struggled at Barcelona this season, with Barca manager, Ernesto Valverde, admitting that the former Liverpool star was far from happy with life at the club.

Speaking about his future with Barcelona last week, Coutinho told beIN Sports: “Nobody knows what will happen in the future. All I have in my head right now is to work hard.”

Coutinho will hope to feature for Valverde’s side when Barcelona tackle Real Madrid in tonight’s Copa Del Rey semi-final first leg tie at the Camp Nou stadium.

EPL: Eden Hazard decides future with Chelsea

Chelsea playmaker, Eden Hazard, has confirmed he has made a decision over his future at the Premier League club.

Hazard will have just a year remaining on his contract in the summer and has not yet agreed a new deal to remain at Stamford Bridge.

The 28-year-old has also made no secret of his desire to play for Real Madrid.

Last month, reports claimed that Hazard has rejected Chelsea’s new contract offer and will push for a move to Spain at the end of the season.

And in an interview with RMC Sport, Hazard has revealed that he has now decided whether he will end his time at the club.

“I know what I am going to do.

“I have made a decision,” he said.

  • Chelsea manager Sarri decides, says Hazard can leave

Chelsea manager Sarri decides, says Hazard can leave

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has said Eden Hazard is free to leave the club if he wants to.

Sarri wants Hazard to stay but does not think the club should stand in the Belgian’s way if he would prefer to move on.

Hazard has long been linked with a move to Spanish side Real Madrid and has said in the past that he would be interested in a move to the reigning Champions League holders.
According to SkySports, Chelsea are looking to renew Hazard’s contract, which expires next season, and the west London side risk losing him for free in 2020, if he does not extend his current deal.

“The situation of Eden is different,” Sarri told reporters ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League clash at Bournemouth.

“Eden is 28. If he wants to go, I think he has to go.

“Of course, I hope the opposite, I hope he wants to stay here.

He has the potential to be the best player in Europe at the moment.”

  • EPL: Hazard is not a leader, says Sarri

EPL: Hazard is not a leader, says Sarri

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has praised Eden Hazard’s qualities as a great footballer, but says that the Belgian is ‘not a leader’.

Sarri hit the headlines last week for publicly chastising his squad after a 2-0 loss to Arsenal, claiming that his players are ‘very difficult to motivate’ and that they perhaps shouldn’t be playing at the highest level.

The Italian then went on to say that a new player, or even an ‘old head’, could be the answer to turning the Blues’ fortunes, suggesting that the club lack leadership.

When asked about Cesar Azpilicueta and David Luiz as potential leaders for the Blues, Sarri turned heads by stating Hazard is not on that list.

“He’s more of an individual player than a leader,” Sarri said. “He’s very important for us, of course, because he’s a great player. He can win a match in two minutes, sometimes one minute.

“He is one of the best in the world, but at this moment he is not a leader.”

Hazard reveals why he frustrated Mourinho, Conte at Chelsea

Chelsea playmaker, Eden Hazard, has admitted he “frustrated” Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho during their respective reigns at Chelsea and left the two managers wanting more from him on the pitch.

Hazard, 28, has once again been the Blues’ standout attacking player, scoring 12 goals in all competitions.

Chelsea had a promising start in the Premier League this term, but their form has drastically declined and Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Arsenal, piled yet more pressure on Sarri.

Hazard believes his team-mates must take responsibility for a recent poor run of results and knows Sarri will be demanding more from him personally.

Speaking to France Football, he said: “I didn’t just frustrate Conte. In my career, I’ve frustrated all my managers and now I’m frustrating Sarri.

“I frustrated Mourinho. They all think you need to score more, do such and such more. I’ll also frustrate the next manager I have.”

The 28-year-old has refused to commit his future to the Premier League club despite confirming that he and his family are happy in London.

With just over a year remaining on Hazard’s contract, Real Madrid may consider this summer the perfect moment to reignite their interest in the Belgium captain.

  • EPL: Hazard too good for Chelsea – Jenas

Eden Hazard is “too good” for Chelsea and has “outgrown” the club, says BBC Sport pundit Jermaine Jenas.

The former Tottenham midfielder described Hazard as “unplayable” during Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat by Spurs at Wembley in the Carabao Cup semi-final.

The Belgium midfielder, whose contract expires in June 2020, has been linked with a summer move to Real Madrid.

And Jenas believes Hazard, 28, must now move from Chelsea to take the next step in his career.

“I thought he was unplayable at times,” said Jenas, on BBC Radio 5 live’s Football Daily podcast.

“I actually said [in commentary] that I think he is too good for Chelsea.

“Chelsea are obviously a top, top side but I think he has outgrown them. I think he has outgrown his position within that team.

“He needs to move on. He is above a level of everybody else that is around him.”

Hazard has won two Premier League titles in seven seasons at Chelsea, as well as the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup.

The Belgium playmaker also helped his country reach the World Cup semi-finals in Russia last year, where he won the Silver Ball as the tournament’s second best player behind Croatia’s Luka Modric.

  • EPL: It is time to decide Hazard’s future – Sarri

It is “time to decide” the future of Chelsea forward Eden Hazard, says manager Maurizio Sarri.

The 27-year-old Belgium international, who passed 100 goals for the club in Wednesday’s 2-1 Premier League win over Watford, said he wanted to become a Chelsea ‘legend”.

Hazard, whose contract expires in June 2020, has been linked with a summer move to Real Madrid.

Sarri said Chelsea “have to solve this problem”.

Asked whether he expects Hazard to remain a Chelsea player in the long term, he said: “I don’t know but I think that it’s time to decide.”

Hazard said in October it was his “dream” to join Spanish side Madrid, although two days later he ruled out a move to the Bernabeu in the January transfer window.

After scoring twice at Vicarage Road, Hazard said: “I want to score more for this club and then try to be a legend like Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and John Terry.”

Italian Sarri said: “I have not the power to do this. I am the coach. I am not the president. I am not in charge of the market.

“I want to speak to him only about the position on the pitch.

  • EPL: I want to be a Chelsea legend – Hazard

Eden Hazard says he wants to become a “Chelsea legend” after his two goals secured victory at Watford – and took him past 100 goals for the Blues.

Hazard, 27, became only the 10th player to reach that landmark when he collected Mateo Kovacic’s pass, took the ball around goalkeeper Ben Foster to a fine finish.

But Hazard grabbed his second of the match – his 101st Chelsea goal in 322 appearances – in the second half when he converted a penalty after Foster had bundled him over.

The Belgium forward has been repeatedly linked with a move to Real Madrid and in October said it was his “dream” to join the Spanish side, although two days after that he ruled out a move to the Bernabeu in the January transfer window.

“To score 101 goals with this amazing club is something I will never forget, but now the fans, staff and players want more,” said Hazard, who helped Chelsea win the Premier League title in 2015 and 2017.

“I want to score more for this club and then try to be a legend like Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and John Terry.”
