Nigerian singer and activist, Charly Boy, has been dragged over the role he played during Eedris Abdulkareem’s clash with 50 Cent in 2004.
Recall that 50 Cent in 2004 visited Nigeria alongside his crew for a four-city concert tagged ‘Star Mega Jams’.
But the event was marred with heated controversies after Eedris Abdulkareem and 50 Cent fell out which forced the US rapper and his team to leave Nigeria.
Charly Boy, commenting on the incident in a recent post on Instagram claimed he played a pivotal role when the incident broke out and chased 50 Cent out of Nigeria for beating Eedris Abdulkareem who he later described as an “ungrateful son.
He wrote “The people wey know dis story go tell you say, after I show 50 Cent’s people craze, I made dem leave Nigeria that day back to the states, forgetting the rest of their Nigerian tour.
“For beating my ungrateful son Eedris I drove them back to America. Nigerian Breweries head scatter, them come arrange package the IG of police, I was locked up in police cell for almost one month.
“Sometimes in Life, the people dat you fight for fight you back out of their ignorance.” [sic].
Eedris Abdulkareem , responding in a video called out Charly Boy, accusing him of selling him out and trying to take the glory that belongs to him.
According to him,Charly boy collected N70m from Nigerian breweries to blackmail him.
“Shut up Charly Boy, You took N70M from Nigerian Breweries to blackmail me. You collected evidence of attack by 50 Cent and G-Unit from DJ Tee who recorded everything that happened in the plane on that day.
“Nigerian artistes like Psquare, KC Presh and E-Money were chased out of the backstage with ko boko after you conspired with the organisers.
“You’re a betrayer and a fake activist, stand for what is right, make your life meaningful and beautiful,” Eedris wrote.
Popular musician, Eedris Abdulkareem has said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government will soon start arresting Nigerians for speaking Igbo.
Eedris said this while condemning the arrest of Veteran Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu.
TheNewsGuru recalls that Chiwetalu Agu was arrested on Thursday by the Nigerian Army for wearing Biafra regalia.
The Nigerian Army confirmed he was arrested for inciting members of the public and soliciting support for IPOB.
In a post on his Instagram page, Abdulkareem said Agu deserved to be honoured in the East for his brave act.
Describing Buhari’s government as a useless one, he wrote: “No matter the kind of film Chiwetalu Agu acts he’s more wise and brave than other actors in the East and must be honored.
“People will soon be arrested for speaking Igbo in Nigeria.”
Reacting to the arrest of Agu, Emeka Ike had said: “Release Chiwetalu Agu now, release all victims of conscience.
“Your belief is you, your ideology is you. Tyranny never pays, dialogue is golden.
“Release Nnamdi Kanu, Sunday Igboho. The world is watching history never forgets. Heal Nigeria in Jesus name.”
Popular Nigerian rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem, has condemned President Muhammadu Buhari for failing to speak out against the recent massacre in Igangan, a town in the Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The outspoken crooner also noted that the North seem to be more bothered about the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in the South East than the damage of lives and properties being carried out by Boko Haram terrorists and bandits in the region.
In a series of posts on Instagram, Eedris wondered if the President would have reacted, if it were cows that were killed in the South East.
He wrote, “48 hours after the terror unleashed on Igangan, no word from Buhari, but if a cow is slaughtered, he will threaten the Igbos who know nothing about it.
“Northerners are more angry with ESN/IPOB in the South East than Boko Haram/Bandits in the North.”
TheNewsGuru recalls that gunmen suspected to be Fulani attacked Igangan Town, killing over 50 people and destroying houses and other valued property
The attackers stayed in the community for over three hours, during which several residents of the town were killed. Sadly, no presence of security operatives were felt for the duration of the attack.
Eedris Abdulkareem, Nigerian rapper has released another diss song to condemn Festus Keyamo, minister of state for labour and employment.
The less than three-minute diss track was released on the back of the minister’s recent Twitter tirade over the singer’s ‘Jaga Jaga Reloaded’.
TheNewsGuru recalls that the drama had started last week after the musician — in the recently released sequel to an original track of the same name, accused the minister of ditching his typical activism since after he joined the present government.
Keyamo reacted via his Twitter page on April 25, alleging that Abdulkareem’s assertion was informed by the singer’s dissatisfaction after his request to join the media team of President Mohammadu Buhari in 2018 was rejected.
The minister also recounted how the singer begged him for money and pleaded for help to “get into the system.”
In his reaction, Eedris said the cabal to which Keyamo belonged, was in discomfort over his music release.
On Sunday, the diss song which focuses on Keyamo surfaced online, with the musician further throwing another jab at the minister.
Abdulkareem made a few allegations in the song including one about his attacker using Stephanie Otobo, a Canada-based singer, to blackmail Apostle Suleman, the cleric who battled a relationship scandal years ago.
“Keyamo, in 2018 when you got appointed, I thought you were still a comrade. I thought you could effect change in your government. That’s why I recorded ‘Obasanjo Write Buhari Letter’ to help you in that process,” he sang.
“Yes, a lot of people supported Buhari but we all regretted it. Keyamo, your government is full of propaganda. Nigeria is no longer safe. Kidnapping our children in their own schools. Blood flowing in our cities and villages.
“Extremism na hallmark of your government, abi you wan cover Pantami link to terrorist. Is your government not a cabal wey dey pamper terrorists? No be today nyash dey back. Use Stephanie Otobo blackmail Apostle Suleman.”
Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo has opened a can of worms on Eedris Abdulkareem, accusing the Nigeria jaga jaga reloaded singer of attempting to blackmail him.
Recall Eedris Abdulkareem recently released the new version of the Nigeria jaga jaga hit song that was banned from radio by President Olusegun Obasanjo, but continued to be played in nightclubs.
In the Nigeria jaga jaga reloaded song, Abdulkareem waxed the following lyrics: “where Festus Keyamo sef? He don dey chop with cabal o” that Keyamo has read as “blackmail”.
“I laughed out so loud and even danced to the rhythm too. But there’s a small story behind this poor attempt at blackmail,” the Minister stated.
He continued: “In 2018, when I was named the Director of Strategic Communications for Buhari Campaign Organisation Eedris waxed a song in support of Buhari & wanted to join us, albeit for a fee. He then made desperate efforts to see me through text messages from his phone no. 07019691772?
“When I finally met with him, I listened to the songs, but told him I had no budget for such or any for that matter. I explained that my job was voluntary. It was the same thing I told so many other so-called activists-by-day-and-hustlers-at-night who secretly approached me
“He then switched to the fact that he wanted a loan to pay for his hotel bills to the tune of N1.3 m & to cater for his ‘sick mum’. That was already running into more than N3m. However, one govt functionary called me to say he told him another story that his child was sick
“He begged me to introduce him to Malami (AGF), Amaechi & the SGF and to paint a good ‘PR’ for him. He pledged that he was with us in the campaign with his whole ‘body and soul’. But at this point, I knew he was a desperate hustler who could embarrass me, so I ghosted him ??
“Shortly after this episode when he could not penetrate the system to get the money he so desperately wanted, he then endorsed Atiku and called Buhari a ‘fraudster’. See one of the links here… m.guardian.ng/life/eedris-ab…. But we decided to ignore his weak voice of opposition
“After our victory, he went berserk and joined every protests against the same Buhari whom he wanted to serve with his whole ‘body and soul’, but needed money to do so. He has been mentioning my name specifically at occasions as if I am the cause of all his troubles in life
“Now, the latest is the ‘jagajaga reloaded’ that he has waxed to vent his frustrations at not getting into the system. His reference to me as ‘chopping’ reminds me of the gaffe of then Minister Sunday Afolabi who infamously said Bola Ige was invited to Govt to ‘come and chop’!
“I wish to assure Eedris and any who think being in Govt is tantamount to ‘chopping’, that for some of us (I can’t speak for others) it is just an honour to serve our country and an attempt to move from armchair criticism to a real participant in order to make a difference.
“Finally, we can all sit back and enjoy the ‘jagajaga reloaded’. One of the objectives of the song is to call me out since I ghosted him for attempted extortion – he has now succeeded. Another objective is to help promote the song by my reaction – that he has also achieved!”
Keyamo also posted screenshots of previous text messages from Abdulkareem as evidence to show that the singer was desperate to extort him.
Meanwhile, Eedris Abdulkareem is yet to respond to the can of worms opened by Keyamo.
Eedris Abdulkareem dropped the much-anticipated official video for his latest release “Jaga Jaga Reloaded” featuring Mr Raw and Madarocker.
The legendary rapper and songwriter used the new remix of Jaga Jaga to condemn the issue of police brutality and most especially the Lekki Massacre scene that happened on the 20-10-20.
On December 4th, 2004, reigning Nigerian rapper at that time, Eedris Abdulkareem got tired of the way Nigerian artistes were being treated whenever their international counterparts were being invited to the country.
Abdulkareem decided to do something about it.
After performing in 2 out of 4 shows, 50 Cent and his crew were headed to Port Harcourt aboard an ADC flight. On the flight Eedris Abdulkareem tried to sit on a seat reserved for 50 Cent. The Nigerian rapper was stopped by 50 Cent’s bodyguards. Eedris was not having any of that and this led to a brawl in the plane.
As a result of the commotion, 50 Cent decided not to perform at the remaining two shows and left Nigeria. Even though this incident was one of the many reasons that led to the waning of Eedris’ career, it was also a spur for Nigerian artistes being treated better.
“Charley Boy went to meet Nigerian Breweries, he told them that ‘Una know say una don dey mess up tey tey’. Charly Boy collected money from Nigerian Breweries to blacklist me with the media. The next day they said Eedris Abdulkareem slapped 50 cent.
“Don’t blame the Nigerian media, they are hungry people. People were begging Nigerian Breweries to be on that show for N50,000, for N200,000. I am the first artiste that started charging N3m per show. I stood my ground because everything wasn’t about the money. It was about the future of Africa and the future of Nigerian music. When we met years later, 50cent told one of his guys that if he was in my shoes, he would have done the same thing. I don’t listen to any stupid Nigerian youth”, he said.
In 2007, Eedris Abdulkareem apologized to 50 Cent on stage at the KORA Awards in Abuja.
Nigerian singer Eedris Abdul Kareem mocked the dethroned Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido, claiming that the former emir’s fate was payback for his previous sins.
According to Eedris, the former Emir championed the ”Jonathan is Corrupt” cause without providing substantial evidence or proof that the ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was indeed corrupt.
On his Instagram page, he posted a photo of the dethroned Emir with an open message as a caption.
He wrote; ”Dear Sanusi Lamido, a corrupt man caught stuffing dollars into his babariga removed you from office! It’s an unfortunate situation but this is the price you have to pay for championing the Jonathan is Corrupt cause with no evidence but propaganda.
Today, you are witnessing the real corruption! Good luck!”
Veteran rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem has condemned Burna Boy, over the latter’s comment that “nobody paved the way” for him.
The 28-year-old ‘Ye’ crooner had caused a stir on social media after he claimed to be the best in the country’s music industry since Fela Kuti, late Afrobeat legend.
Burna Boy also claimed that he’s brought Afrobeat genre to the mainstream where it is currently enjoying western recognition.
In a chat with TVC, the controversial rapper said Burna Boy stole from Fela, adding that he owes his success to the late Afrobeat legend.
“Burna Boy needs to apologize. Fela made it happen for you. You stole from a lot of Fela’s songs to become who you are.
You stole from Afrobeats to become who you are even though Fela’s songs are strictly about messages that add value to the lives of people. What is your song all about”?
TheNewsGuru recalls that Seun Kuti aimed what appeared to be a thinly-veiled dig at Burna Boy.
Seun, the son of the late Afrobeat icon, took to his Instagram page to pour out his mind on music artistes who claim they hit the limelight alone without help.
He revealed how his record label tried to “silence” him to the extent that they “secretly decided” to not submit ‘Black Times’, his 2017 album, for the Academy Awards.
“That one time I played penalty straight to throwing but I made history. First to miss a Grammy performance, who else can say that? It’s not easy to be chosen it’s even harder to miss it,” he wrote.
“Now seriously, I took my self to this nomination on the shoulder of the great African artistes who came before me, many of them in my very own band. I had no support.
“Today, I can confidently tell the world that my record label, after telling me they did, secretly decided not to enter my album. The Grammys reached out to me themselves after the entry period had closed.
“They said they wanted to know why I have never entered my albums and especially the Black Times album I had just put out ’cause they loved it and thought it should be entered!
“Surprise was an understatement. I couldn’t believe what I was reading! The rest they say is history!
“Those that have all the support from corporations, especially the people who, because I fight for them, even my record company tried to silence me, they say they do it alone. I just have to smile!”
Hip-hop star, Eedris Abdul-Kareem, has been arrested for allegedly beating up his landlord, whom he accused of sexual harassment.
Eedris was said to have been dragged before the police after his landlord Oladipo Abimbola lodged a complaint accusing the singer of harassment and intimidation.
The landlord alleged that the confrontation took place on January 3 2020 at Valley View Estate, Ikeja. He said he had instructed officials of Ikeja Electricity Destribution ( IKED) to disconnect Eedris supply due to unpaid and accumulated electricity bills of N535,000.
It was reliably gathered that, Eedris, was said to have allegedly forced his way into his landlord’s compound in order to beat and strangle him when confronted about owing electric bills.
The landlord claims that he was unaware that Eedris Abdul-Kareem was to be his tenant when he rented the flat. According to him, Abdul-Kareem’s wife rented the apartment on behalf of her husband who she later identified as Eedris.
Eedris Abdul-Kareem alleged that his landlord had sexually harassed his wife in his absence and that all efforts to make him stop failed. He also claimed that his landlord has once been arrested for a previous case of sexual harassment against a female tenant. However, the case is still ongoing while further reports are expected. Nigerian hip-hop singer, Eedris Abdulkareem has unleashed his opinion on the state of the nation, adding that it is ‘Jaga Jaga’.
Abdulkareem made this known as a guest on Channels TV on Sunday January 12th where he said he feels vindicated 18 years after he released his hit song, ‘Nigeria Jaga Jaga’.
TheNewsGuru recalls that ‘Jaga Jaga’ projected corruption and suffering in Nigeria. The song was banned from radio by the Federal Government but was still played at events. ‘Jaga Jaga’ is a word which has been used to describe something in a state of chaos or disarray.
Eedris said in the interview:” In 2002 I dropped Nigeria Jaga Jaga, and the ex-president came on the National TV and said that boy wey sing that song, na him papa and him family jaga jaga. I was very happy that my message got to the president. I was very happy that the president talked back at me because that means they were listening and today I’ve been vindicated again because Nigeria is still jaga jaga.”
