Eid-el-Kabir: Nigerians should make sacrifices for the country – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has appealed to the entirety of Nigerians to imbibe the culture of making sacrifices, saying it’s what the Eid-el-Kabir celebration exemplifies.

Tinubu made the statement while addressing reporters shortly after observing the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at Dodan Barracks prayer ground, Lagos.

Tinubu emphasized the need for unity and cooperation towards building a better Nigeria.

He appealed to Nigerians to eschew ethnic and religious rivalries.

”May our sacrifices turn to prosperity. We have to make the sacrifices and that is clear, we have to. But Allah will not give you a burden that you cannot carry. He is there for us. We must have faith in the country. Have faith in ourselves, believing that as citizens of this country, we must join hands to build the nation”, he stated.

  • Eid-el-Kabir: Let us all support Tinubu for a better Nigeria – Senator Bamidele

Eid-el-Kabir: Let us all support Tinubu for a better Nigeria – Senator Bamidele

Senator Bamidele representing Ekiti Ekiti Central at the Red Chamber has urged the people of the country  to shed the toga of religious intolerance and extremism and unite solidly behind the administration of President Bola Ahmed.

According to Bamidele, no nation parading the emblem of religious fanaticism would ever achieve prosperity, saying the time is ripe for people of diverse religious inclinations to focus on the project Nigeria and contribute to its radical development.

The Ekiti born senator congratulated all Muslims in the country over the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.

The hajj is a source of prestige and a major revenue-earner for Saudi Arabia, which is trying to pivot its oil-reliant economy in new directions including tourism.

The devil-stoning marks the start of the three-day Eid al-Adha holiday, celebrated by Muslims by buying and slaughtering livestock to commemorate Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son.

Afterwards, the pilgrims return to Mecca to perform a farewell “tawaf” — walking seven times around the Kaaba, the giant black cube at the Grand Mosque that is the focal point of Islam.

Mina’s walkways have proven deadly in the past: in 2015, a stampede killed up to 2,300 worshippers in the worst hajj disaster ever. A similar incident killed 364 in 2006.

Other stampedes were reported in 2004, 1998 and 1994. In 1990, the failure of a tunnel ventilation system triggered a huge rush that killed 1,426 pilgrims, mainly from Asia.

Bamidele saluted the Muslim Ummar for their contributions to Nigeria, urging them to imbibe the lessons of sacrifice, faithfulness, steadfastness, obedience, and perseverance taught by the life and time of Prophet Ibrahim.

He said the current government being steered by Tinubu, had promised to make Nigeria a great and prosperous nation, reminding that stoking of religious intolerance could quake the foundation being laid by the present administration.

“I congratulate all Muslim Ummar on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir. As we celebrate, let us remember that we have a duty to make this country safe and prosperous for all of us and this can only be accomplished with unanimity of purpose and convergence of thoughts and ideas.

“President Tinubu came with the popular mantra of a Renewed Hope and this has started manifesting by the deft political steps he had taken to mend the already cracked and widened ethnic and religious faultlines.

“This manifested in the way he supported Senator Godswill Akpabio to emerge the Senate President and magnanimously ceded the Secretary to the Government of the Federation slot to Christians to balance the Muslim-Muslim ticket at the presidency.

“All the President needs from all Nigerians as the father of the nation, is a coalition of efforts with him for the realization of his promise to bring prosperity to the doorstep of every Nigerian, which will impact our lives positively, irrespective of religious leanings.

“I appreciate the profound and pivotal contributions of our Muslim brothers to the stability of this nation. They should continue in this stead; for it is an onerous task they have to perform as adherents of Prophet Mohammad(SWT), whose entire life preaches love, togetherness and propagation of the ideal of live and let live”.

Nigeria on life support, needs prayers to survive – UI Imam

The Chief Imam of the University of Ibadan, Professor Abdulrahman Oloyede, says the country is currently on a life support machine and needs prayers from Nigerians.

Oloyede, a professor of Arabic and Islamic studies explained that the only solution for the citizens to resuscitate the country is to embark on more prayers to avoid its total collapse.

Oloyede made these declarations today shortly after he led thousands of Muslim faithful to observe the 2-Rakah obligatory Eld-Kabir prayer at the University of Ibadan Eld prayer ground.

The don while addressing journalists after the prayer, insisted that the current crop of political leaders has failed the country because they lost control.

He said Nigerians should embark on more prayers to have leaders that will rescue the country.

He explained that the Eld-Kabir festival is to showcase total submission to God who created human beings.

Oloyede said, “This year’s message is not directed to the leaders alone, it is directed to all Nigerians.

“Nigeria is on life support, it is melting away, all we can do is to start praying fervently, we have now seen that those who are in charge have lost control.

“Nigeria is melting away, so we should pray fervently to hold this nation again. All of us irrespective of where we come from and what we believe in, we must start praying and I pray we do not lose this country.

“We have tried to look for experience, it has failed us, we looked for pedigree, it has failed us, this is the reason why I said that we still need to pray to God to choose for us.

“There is no way politicians will not fail because they have one thing in common, they are selfish, and they are fighting for their own pocket. We should pray to God to choose for us.

“Eld-Kabir is essentially to showcase total submission to the God of creation. To commemorate the example laid by prophet Ibrahim”.

Eid-el-Kabir: Saraki urges Muslims to pray against insecurity

Former Kwara state governor and Senate President, Bukola Saraki has congratulated Nigerian Muslims and other faithful across the world on this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival.

He urged the Muslim faithful not to get tired of praying for peace, security, and prosperity around the globe.

Saraki made this gesture through a statement signed by his Media office, Yusuph Olaniyonu, and issued in Abuja, he urged Muslims to remember the significance of the Eid-el-Kabir which symbolized obedience to Allah, genuine sacrifice, desire for peace, and co-existence.

He further advised Muslims to always demonstrate these values in their daily activities.

The Kwara-born politician advised members of the ummah in Nigeria to use the occasion of the festival to pray for peace, security, unity, and prosperity in the country because they lack of these elements was threatening to disintegrate Nigeria and set her people against each other.

The statement partly read, “One cannot but note that this Sallah period has only advertised the endemic poverty, unemployment, and anger in our country as people in millions of homes cannot happily celebrate Sallah due to economic hardship, violence that has displaced them from their homestead, the resultant loss of dear ones due to untoward activities of non-state actors who have waged war against the state, family members who are being held in kidnappers’ den and the ones who suffer from various ailments without the ability to pay for good health care.

“The situation in the country is very dire and is threatening to drive happiness away from the land. Even then, millions of people will troop to the various praying grounds on Sallah day to give glory to Almighty Allah for preserving them and to also make more requests to the ultimate provider. I enjoin those who are fortunate to go to the praying grounds to remember to pray for our country and our fellow citizens, who wish to join the prayers but could not make it because of one unfortunate incident or the other beyond their control.

“Nigerian Muslims should rise together and pray for the country and the citizenry. We should ask Allah to forgive our sins and restore peace and prosperity in our country. We should call on Almighty Allah to heal our land and help us defeat all those who have waged wars against the country.

“Muslims should use the Eid-el-Kabir festival to rededicate ourselves to Allah and truly demonstrate the values recommended by our religion in our actions, activities, and transactions. Those who are fortunate to have should share with the less privileged and live happily and with tolerance for people of other faiths and tongues.

“As we get ready to go to the polls next year to elect new leaders, we should pray for the guidance of Allah in doing what is right and working honestly for the elections to produce leaders whose policies, programs, and projects will restore unity, peace, stability, prosperity, inclusivity, justice, equity and patriotism in our country.

“It is necessary to reiterate my usual prayers for the men and women in the various security services who are on the frontlines and genuinely fighting to secure the country and halt the menace posed by the deviants seeking to destroy the country. May the protection of Almighty Allah be on such patriotic and loyal security officials and may He give them victory against the warmongers.

“Once again, I congratulate all our Muslim brothers and sisters and wish them happy Sallah. Eid Mubarak. Ma salaam”, Saraki stated.

Sallah: Muslims warned against stealing rams for Eid-el-Kabir

Prof. Yahaya Imam of the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, University of Ilorin, on Monday warned Muslims against stealing rams for Eid-el-Kabir festival.

Imam, who gave the warning during an interview with newsmen in Ilorin, said Allah would not accept the stolen sacrifice, as He is pure and does not accept anything impure.

“Those who can not afford a ram should not go out of their ways to steal or commit other unwholesome acts, to be able to sacrifice a ram.

“Everybody should show gratitude to Allah and glorify Him for keeping them safe and alive,” he explained.

Imam, who teaches in the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ilorin, explained that slaughtering rams during Sallah was important both spiritually and for other purposes.

“Spiritually, Allah will reward the believer who offers the sacrifice with forgiveness of sins and other rewards, depending on the sincerity of his or her intention.

“In the mundane sphere, it is an occasion to eat, drink permissible things and rejoice with fellow beings, irrespective of their creed, tribe and nation.

“It is also an occasion to give charity both in cash and in kind, to the poor and needy,” he explained.

According to him, Sallah is a period of sober reflection, considering the historical origin of the celebration where Prophet Ibrahim’s son was replaced with a ram for fulfilling the promise of offering the only son for sacrifice.

“Sallah celebration is a period of showing gratitude to Allah and kindness to the less privileged.

“For those who can afford, let them remember those who can not by sharing part of the ram with them so that they will equally be happy on the Sallah day,” he said.

The expert on Islamic Studies enjoined Muslims in the country to use the period to beseech Allah to bring peace and harmony to the nation.

Imam further said that, as the Sallah celebrations was barely days away, Allah is capable of doing all things and changing the course of the country from hardship.

He also called on governments at all levels to alleviate the sufferings of the citizens and make life more meaningful.

“Policies capable of reducing poverty, hardships and suffering from the land must be pursued,” he added.
