MFM founder, Pastor Olukoya knocks clerics who predict election result

The General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Dr Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, has warned Christian clerics who always predict outcome of election results to desist from doing so.

According to the revered man of God, the pulpit is not meant for political predictions or prophesy.

He said  the pulpit is meant for teaching the truth to Christians.

Olukoya stated this in a sermon on Sunday at the MFM headquarters in Lagos,

Ahead of the 2023 elections, the media was awash with ‘men of God’ predicting different outcomes of the polls.

Speaking on the development, Olukoya said it is “madness” for pastors to say what God has not spoken.

He said, “You see what happened in Nigeria during these last elections disgraced the religion of Christianity very well. This prophet said this person would win, and this would not win.

“‘If this one wins, I will become a herbalist, if this one wins, let them cut off my hand, if this one wins this, this one will die before his wish.’

“All did not come to pass, and they call themselves prophets. Prophets of where? It is madness when you begin to say what God does not ask you to say. The pulpit in the house of God is the pillar and ground of truth. It is not for political campaigns.”

  • Abia Guber: They offered me money, threatened me to compromise election result – Prof. Oti

Abia Guber: They offered me money, threatened me to compromise election result – Prof. Oti

The Returning Officer for Abia State governorship election, Professor Nnenna Oti has explained how she stood her ground for vote to count during the just concluded election in the state.

According to the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, (FUTO), her refusal to compromise her stance and belief despite being offered money amid threat led to the reflection of the peoples will in the election.

Oti disclosed this while addressing students during her return to the school on Tuesday.

Students and staff of the institution had given their Vice Chancellor a hero’s welcome.

In a viral video, Oti said: “As an electoral officer, I have never in my life participated in any election but duty came calling.

“I made my enquires from Abuja and I said ‘If I perish, I perish’…

“They (names withheld) came with their threats, money, and intimidation but I stood my ground.

“I didn’t start today. I stand here before God and Jesus Christ, I have never defrauded anyone.

“I said under me, votes must count”.

The Labour Party, LP, governorship candidate in Abia State, Alex Otti defeated his opponents Okey Ahiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Enyinnaya Nwafor of the Young Peoples Party (YPP) with 175, 467 votes to emerge the winner.

  • APC rejects election result in Aba Federal Constituency

APC rejects election result in Aba Federal Constituency

Promise Iheasimuo the All Progressives Congress candidate for Aba Federal Constituency, has rejected the Feb. 25 National Assembly election in his  constituency.

The Abia born politician, announced the rejection on Friday in Aba during a press conference.

According to the candidate, the All Progressives Congress, APC, was omitted from the ballot paper for the election, making the result unacceptable.

He called for the cancellation of the result, saying that the omission made it impossible for his supporters and APC members to vote for him.

Iheasimuo, a former leader of the Aba South LGA Legislative Council, called for a rescheduling of the election.

“We were wrongly excluded from the ballot paper, and we were not found on the election result sheet. We made an official report to INEC, security agencies and even the press before the election, but INEC ignored us. The commission went ahead to declare the Labour Party candidate the winner of the election whereas another party, duly registered for the election, was omitted for no good reason,” he said.

According to him: “I passed through due process. I bought a form, passed through screening, submitted my form and was made my party’s candidate by the law.”

Iheasimuo said that he secured an order from a Federal High Court sitting in Umuahia to compel INEC to capture his name.

“My party did the same thing by urging INEC to publish my name, yet INEC omitted my name,” he said.

INEC, he said, told him that it had printed the ballot paper before he got the order to shift the election date to accommodate him.

Iheasimuo said that INEC had no reason to omit a party registered duly for an election.

“The order was served on INEC on the 20th of February and INEC acknowledged receipt. Even if it came a day before the election, INEC should accommodate me. I am a candidate, and INEC should put my party’s name and logo there and allow our supporters to make their choice.

“I am calling for the cancellation of the Aba Federal Constituency election and urging INEC to give a new date for the election,” he said.
